Help turning on ftp

I've been trying to turn ftp access on for my old Titanium Powerbook G4 running 10.4.11. The PB is connected to the internet via an Apple Time Capsule connected to a cable modem.
So far, I have turned on ftp in the sharing preferences, opened port 21 on the time capsule, checked to make sure my ISP does not block port 21, opened a dyndns account, installed the dyndns update client, installed pure-ftpd, set up a user in pure-ftpd and I still can't connect to my mac using fetch. I get the following error message:
An FTP connection to "xxx.xxx.xxx" could not be opened because the FTP server dropped the connection.
So what am I missing?

I've had the firewall turned off the whole time, and the only port I've forwarded is port 21 on the Time Capsule.

Can't turn on ftp in pref's

I need some help. I want to use my imac 17" 1ghz Imac with 10.3.9 to run an ftp site. I have adsl service and a zoom x5v modem/router. The router is set for dmz and that works good. Useing safari i can access the internet. I downloaded and installed crushftp. Every post I read said to turn on "ftp access" in system prefs:sharing. My option is ghosted, and tells me to install the bsd packages. The only two I found were bsd.pkg and bsdsdk.pkg. I installed both but i still have no option. I could not find any downloads for bsd on this site.
I have updated and repaired permissions blah blah blah. I have also tried the optional install stuff on the 10.3.2 cd.
What gives and can I change it?

I'm not sure but it sounds like not all of your bsd system layer stuff got installed. Try using Pacifist to check and see that all your bsd system stuff got installed, and if it didn't, install it. HTH.

Need help setting up ftp/home network

I am hoping someone can help me here.
I have an emac, imac dv se, and 2 powerbooks. They are all connected to the internet via airport cards. I want to allow all of these devices to access a firewire drive that is connected to the emac AND make those files accessible to me and my wife over the internet. what is the easiest way to do this and what additional hardware/software do I need?

Turn on FTP in the sharing control panel. Use Connect to Server in the Finder with an FTP URL or use an FTP client or ftp in the terminal. With FTP you can do a:
$ cd /Volumes/nameofthefirewiredrive
then go from there.
File Sharing on OS X only shares the "Public" directory in your home directory. You might be able to put a symlink inside Public to /Volumes/thedrivesname
$ ln -s ~/Public/externaldrive /Volumes/externaldrive
and try enabling Personal File Sharing and trying Connect to Server.
If your wireless network uses DHCP, remember that the IP address of a given computer may change without warning if DHCP give it a different IP. You might have better luck using the Bonjour/Rendevous name of the computer to connect consistently.

Turn off FTP service via command line

We are running a Mt Lion server. The FTP Service quit working properly. Instead of directing users to the FTP folder specified, users are just sent to the root of the OS drive. We attemped to turn off FTP service in the Server.app, but FTP stays running even when Server.app lists it as off.
Is there a way to turn off FTP via the command line? We can't seem to find it. The instructions we found online for 10.7 don't work. We've tried rebooting the server and repairing permissions but the same problem exists.

Finally, tracked it down thanks to the good people at CrushFTP http://crushftp.com
Here is the command for anyone else that may be looking.
sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist

I'm new to Solaris 10 and need help to setup ftp server

I just installed Solaris 10 and I'm trying to setup an ftp server (with ftpd) but I don't know how to do that
my server doesn't need any security or authentication
I'm looking for the default shared files directory
Also wondering what to change in what configuration file...
This OS looks quite similar to some linux I used before but the differencies are big enough to drive me crazy

put a # in front of root and any other users that you wish to be able to ftp
then svcadm restart ftp

Need help to Configure FTPS connection for File Sender Adapter

I want to Configure, FTPS connection (Secured Connection) for File Sender Adapter. Could anyone please guide me, what Information I require to configure. I just want to know what Information should I request the team inorder the configure FTPS so that it can be deployed properly.
I have checked with [SAP Help Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm] and while configuring the communication channel found that I need Keystore and the X.509 Certificate and Private Key. which needs to be deployed on the J2EE server by using the Visual Administrator.
Is there anything else, I need to configure.
Any help would be appreciated in this regard.

The basic things are Certificate/Keys which you already know. Usually it is enough for running a sceanrio.
However, if you have additional requirements, like FTPS for "Connection Security" for encryption, then you may need additional details like commands. Rest all settings are same as FTP.

Help turn two select boxes into three...

I am looking to take this code (or variation thereof) and turn the two drop downs into three.
1. Select One
populates
2. Select two
populates
3. Select three
each will have its own set of var(s) and will populate per the previous. the code i have comes from a guy that is no longer employed with us and we have no one right now...so I am looking for a little bit of help here...
with these being 'selections' they will then go from the boxes and be transmitted to my crm via web form...all http post...

Help with ESB - FTP Inbound Adaptor - using SFTP

I am a newbie to ESB. I need to get files from an SFTP server machine and route them to a local file.
I have created an ESB project in JDeveloper with an Inbound FTP adaptor, a router and an outbound file adaptor. I then registered it with the ESB server.
Following the instructions in the "Oracle Application Server Adaptor for Files/FTP" manual, I setup a connector factory with the (I think) necessary properties to connect to the SFTP server in the Oracle_Home\j2ee\home\application-deployments\default\FtpAdaptor\oc4j-ra.xml file. I also installed the cygwin/openssh according to the instructions though I am not sure I need it for gets.
Problem is that nothing is happening. It doesn't pull down any files from the SFTP server. I can connect using FileZilla (an interactive SFTP Client) to the SFTP server and see the directory where the files are and have setup the FTP Adaptor to poll that directory and filenames. In the ESB control I see no instances get created.
I don't know how to debug this. In the Enterprise Manager I can test the router and the file output services but I cannot find (and therefore cannot test) any service for the inbound FTP adaptor.

Help Toggling Passive FTP

I have a problem with my FTP server, or something. I have
created a site, set it up, where the files need to go etc., but
when I test my connection it times out and says to try toggling the
passive FTP mode. Where do I find this? I have looked everywhere
(or so I think).. any help is useful at this point.

Help turning off info-box pane when hovering mouse over photo

I am looking to turn-off this info pane, it appears when I have my mouse over a photo in any preview. It is really distracting and I cannot locate the menu to switch it off... any help is much appreciated!

Help turn off iMessage without my phone...

I recently switched from iPhone to Android and no longer have my iPhone. However, texts from my wife still go to iMessage because she is on iPhone... help!

Put your sim in her phone & turn iMessage off. If you registered your phone with Apple, you can login to your support profile & remove the phone. Those are the only two ways I know to fix this.

What version of OS X are you using? That information will help in providing a specific solution.
If you close all documents before quitting Numbers or Pages, you won't have them reopening when you launch the app again. You can quickly close all open windows in an application by typing ⌘ ⌥ W (Command + Option + W) or hold down the Option/alt key while clicking the red close button.
Other things you can do to turn off this resume feature:
In Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks you can set System Preferences > General to close windows when quitting an application.
Try Mountain Tweaks The option to turn off resume is at the bottom of the left-hand column under Lion. This solution does not work in Mavericks.

Help turning off email notification please

Can someone please help me turn off email notification.
I have checked and unchecked the email notification to the right of the posts numerable times. It does not seem to matter whether that says stop email notification or receive email notification. I have also turned them off in my user profile and I continue to get email notifications constantly.
