Help: Tutorial  to upgrade Apache 1.33 to Apache to 1.3.41

Server got hacked. (I'm running 10.3.9)
It was a quick fix, but after running Nikto to see what my biggest vulnerabilities were, PHP & Apache appeared to be the biggest culprits.
I've already upgraded to the latest available version of PHP for 10.3.9, (V5.1.2)
Unless I upgrade to 10.4 or 10.5 I'm stuck with it.
But Apache.... I could upgrade to 1.3.41 from 1.3.33.
Is there a step-by-step tutorial for this anywhere? (I don't want to switch to the 2.x Apache. I like the Server Admin GUI that comes with 10.3.9, and heard that breaks when you go to the 2.x version.)

Not staying (relatively) current is a recipe to getting hacked, yes. How much time and effort do you want to spend on this particular project, too?
Panther and Panther Server are falling off of the software support listings all over the place; the next release of Vienna RSS reader, for instance, reportedly drops Panther. You're probably going to find yourself spending more and more time staying on Panther, whether it is with Apache or otherwise.
[MAMP|http://mamp.info] is among the easiest approaches around, but that's not necessarily hardened for Internet access, and you're far enough back that you'll need to use MAMP 1.4.1. And no Server Admin GUI for MAMP, AFAIK.
As for your stated question, you're likely wanting to building Apache off to the side and not in the Apple directories. Raw build directions are available from apache.org, among other places. There are other [related topics and discussions|http://www.stepwise.com/Articles/Workbench/2000-01-29.01.html] around; Google is your friend here. All of what I've seen indicates this build is not exactly entirely easy on Mac OS X Server, and you could (will?) have trouble with the integration -- with the GUI, with php, and other pieces.
The other approach here is to move to Linux, if you don't want to move to Leopard Server.
And FWIW, if you're not serving files and storage to numbers of clients via AFS or CIFS/SMB (eg: this is a web server and performs limited or no disk services), then you can upgrade and use the 10-client server license.

  • How to upgrade Apache 1.2.22 - 1.3.33, Oracle 9i

    I have to upgrade Apache to newer version for security reason. I'm running Oracle 9i database release 2 (9.2.0.1.0). I just got 20+ pages report what needs to be fixed and this should fix most problems.
    I just made clean install on test machine. Can i just download new version of Apache from apache.org and install it to oracle_home, or what? Do i have to make changes to httpd.conf?
    I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

    If you apache is part of your 9i database SW then download patchest for Oracle 9i and apply it to current version. The patchset for DB include for all components (also for apache)
    btw: apache version in 9i is 1.3.x not 1.2.x

  • After upgrading Apache to 2.2.23 there is a problem

    I (perhaps foolishly) upgraded Apache from 2.2.22 to 2.2.23 on OS X Mountain Lion Server. Following the upgrade, remote clients on the LAN cannot access the Web server's default.html.en web page. The DNS entries still look okay on OS X Mountain Lion Server.
    Any ideas as to what might have got broken/overwritten by Apache by doing the upgrade that I need to fix or could something be blocking things?
    Also, while probably not related, when, directly from the (updated) web server machine, I access 127.0.0.1 from within the web browser I can see the start up web page for Apache on OS X Server (so Apache is running, just can't be accessed remotely). However, when I try to access the same web page, again directly from the local web server machine, but this time using localhost instead of the IP address in the URL then the web page doesn't appear.
    The hosts file on the web server has the following entries:
    127.0.0.1     localhost
    255.255.255.255     broadcasthost
    ::1             localhost
    fe80::1%lo0     localhost

    Yes, I should have backed up httpd.conf but unfortunately I didn't (it was a very long day). On the upside I am learning way more about httpd.conf than I ever thought I would.
    After some soul searching I have since discovered that the ./configure string should also have had --disable-version in it. This is because it is a built-in module.
    So a recompile of Apache and Apache is running and remote client machines can see 'html' based web pages. However, there remains a problem in that accessing php pages results in the php code being viewed instead of the web page. So something is still broken somewhere just not sure what. Any ideas? Please advise.
    Below is a snippet of my httpd.conf RE the PHP side of things:
    Snippet----------------------------
    LoadModule php5_module        libexec/apache2/libphp5.so
    #I have checked the libexec/apache2/libphp5.so exists. Still scratching head!
    PHPIniDir “/etc/php.ini”
    <IfModule php5_module>
        AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
        AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
        <IfModule dir_module>
            DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
        </IfModule>
    </IfModule>
    Include /private/etc/apache2/other/*.conf
    End snippet----------------------------
    By the way, doing a 'php -v' gives me the following result in Terminal which I presume means that PHP is okay but for some reason Apache or the Server is missing something but I don't know what that might be

    Have you been trying to download from the app store? Did you get a message?
    As a suggestion, you might go to an Apple store (genius bar appointment) for help. As far as I know, there should be no charge.

    Regarding the "Creating a purchase order form that has a flowable layout" Help Tutorial,  I can't seem to get the data to pull in for just the PO in question, is there a secret?
    Ideally, it should create one form for each PO with the detail lines for each PO on the individual forms.  Can we do this?
    Many thanks!

    Hi
    If the smartform purchase order is not available in your system
    means you can download the form IDES and you can upload the form in ur ecc 6.0 system.we faced a similar kind of problem in our system and we did as i said.
    Once you uploaded the things you can easily view the form interface and rest of the things related to smartforms.
    Thanks and Regards

  • HT3606 please help me to upgrade my mac osx 10.5.8 to mountain lion

    please help me to upgrade my mac osx 10.5.8 to mountain lion. i am not able to do it.becoz i am not having app store.

    Before you buy anything, first make sure your Mac is compatible.
    Minimum specs for Snow Leopard.  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -                 Read the Technical Specifications
    Note.  You can no longer buy Snow Leopard from an Apple retail store, only as follows.
    If you are in North America ... Last I read, you must call them (1-800-MY-APPLE). It is $29 plus tax for family pack and $19 plus tax for the individual use version.
    In Europe or otherwise … call your National Apple Helpline … http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
    Once you have bought and upgraded you will need to apply the Combo updater for Snow Leopard.          Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
    For Mountain Lion the minimum specs are … technical specifications.
    But if your computer meets those specs you can upgrade to Mountain Lion without any intermediate steps.

    Can anyone help me with upgrading memory in my older iMac? I currently only have 1gb of memory so as you can imagine my machine is quite slow. I check in my system profiler and it shows I do have a memory slot open. It is using a DDR2 and I was told that the latest are DDR3 and I need to find out if I can run that on my model number. This info came from a tech guy at best buy.

    That is what I needed.  You can upgrade to a maximum of 6gb of ram and need the following type:
    200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.  You can easily find it online, here is an example: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/Intel_Core_2_Duo_PC2-6400

    Bad choice, since the cost is exorbitant. Snow Leopard ($29 USD) is available from its online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.]
    Additionally, you can get a MAS redemption code via the same route. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4140947?tstart=0 for details.

  • Upgrading Apache server independently

    Just wonder if there is any way to upgrade Apache httpd that comes with 9iAS (or 8i 8.1.7) to a newer release from httpd.apache.org without breaking the whole thing? I tried to do that on W2K:
    1) downloaded latest binary for Win32 (1.3.19 at that time)
    2) installed it locally at my dev PC
    3) copied Apache.exe, ApacheCore.dll and modules over existing files (and fixed up LoadModule in httpd.conf to match new module names)
    4) tried to start the server and it crashed complaining about modplsql.dll being invalid Apache module. In fact, none of the modules that came with 8.1.7/iAS 1.0.2.0.0 was recognized as valid. And Oracle-supplied 1.3.12 was complaining about new modules that came with 1.3.19 binary dist for 'accessing Apache API in the wrong way' or something similar to this.
    5) So much for the upgrade :( I had to revert back to 1.3.12 which is known to have bugs and security issues.
    So, the question is:
    is it possible to use latest binary distribution of Apache httpd to upgrade Oracle HTTP Server powered by Apache by copying binaries over existing ones? If yes - what config or whatever changes should be made for new Apache to recognize modplsql.dll as valid module?
    If this is not possible - how Oracle goes about fixing bugs and security issues in their custom version of Apache that are fixed in new releases from Apache.org? I didn't see any patches/upgrades for httpd on MetaLink (did I search for them in a wrong place?)
    thanks in advance,
    Bob.

    I would be quite interested in the answer to this as well. Apache 1.3.12 (used with iAS 1.0.2) has numerous security issues, which have been patched with newer versions of Apache.
    Does Oracle plan on supporting these security patches?
