Help! Unable to Install Lightroom 4 Upgrade

Yesterday I purchased the upgrade to Lightroom 4. I was using Lightroom 2. I downloaded the .dmg file successfully, but when I tried opening it, I got an error message saying there was an error with the .pkg file. I tried downloading the .dmg install file from the Adobe website 3 separate times. Each time it downloaded successfully, but I still received the same .pkg error message.

I assume you're on a Mac. You need to be running OSX 10.6.8 or higher on a 64-bit machine to run LR4.

  • Problem installing Lightroom 5 Upgrade

I have installed Lightroom 5 Upgrade from a CD_ROM but have not been asked for the Serial number and am unable to open it. Help please?

Calmc what error message do you receive when you try to open Photoshop Lightroom?  Also which operating system are you using?
Also if you wish to download a copy of Lightroom 5 you can download the installation files from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_lightroom&promoid&promoid=DT EML.  You will be prompted to enter your serial number when you open the software.

  • Unable to install Lightroom 4 on imac 10.6.8

I am unable to install Lightroom 4 from the original disc on to my imac 10.6.8.  I successfully installed Adobe CS6 on to the imac without any difficulty.  While attempting to install Lightroom 4 I receive a screen that says "Installation Failure.  Unknown error.  Contact software adminstrator."  The imac has an intel core 2 duo processor, 2 gb ram.  The system requirements are the same as CS6 which installed without problems.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for any help!

Not sure... It states that 64bit support is required, which would preclude older iMacs and MacBooks and you seem to be using exactly one of those... I'm afraid this will not work.

but the error message says that Apple Power PC apps no longer supported.
You still need to contact the manufacturer.  You need to determine from them if they have drivers that support the OS that is currently installed on your comp or read the following KB Articles:

  • Need help installing Lightroom 5 upgrade on a new computer

    Hi all,
On Mac #1 I have Lightroom 5, which was upgraded to from Lightroom 4. I have noted down a full v4.x licence key and a v5.x upgrade key, and these worked on Mac #1.
I now want to install Lightroom 5 on Mac #2. I can install and activate v4 but when I install v5 it doesn't offer me an upgrade activation. The only licence it seems to want is a full v5 one (it doesn't accept my v5 upgrade key).
How can I get LRv5 installed on the new computer?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Thanks Kglad, that worked.
I was downloading the full trial of LRv5, but what I needed to do was go into my account and hit the download button next to the upgrade order in my order history. This downloads a different installer.
    I'm happy now --> :-)

  • Unable to install Aperture 2 + upgrade to 3 (boxed version)

I have Aperture 2 with upgrade to 3 (boxed versions). I bought a new MacBook Pro and now I am unable to install the Aperture application. When I install aperture 2, only sample projects are installed. No installation options are offered. There is no Aperture.app in the /Applications directory. When I then try to install upgrade to 3, it somehow recognizes that I already have Aperture 2 (I do not know where), and tries to upgrade. Then I finally have app in /Applications, but it is incomplete, unable to load - does not even launch, just writes that it is missing MainMenu.nib into the console.
    What is wrong?

Once you have done an installation it is always good practive to run Disk Utility/ Repair Permission on your system disk, this can help resolve some issues.
Then if this does not work try following the steps listed on the Trouble Shooting Basics page.
Let us know how you go.

  • Installing Lightroom 5 Upgrade after completing trial

I had a trial copy of Lightroom 5 Upgrade that expired while I was traveling.
I purchased the software and downloaded it.
I then added the serial number to the trial copy.
Should I actually delete the trial version and install the one I downloaded, or is it not necessary?
Also, the version I have is 5.0 but I read that 5.2 was released.
How can I get the most up-to-date version of the software?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Simona

Should I actually delete the trial version and install the one I downloaded, or is it not necessary?
It's not necessary. The trial version and the version you buy contain the same code. The only difference is a valid serial number (which you've already successfully entered).
Also, the version I have is 5.0 but I read that 5.2 was released.
LR5.2 is currently a beta version made available by Adobe for testing by early adopters.
You're welcome to download it from Adobe Labs here http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom5-2/
but don't use it in your normal daily workflow yet. It's not quite ready.
When it ships, click Help > Updates to get it.

  • Help unable to install OS X as hard drive not visible in internet recovery mode

    Hi
    I have a MacBook Pro
During use my screen froze and I had to force quit. Since then I have tried the following:
    Turning on in safe mode
Internet recovery - no mac hd or partition recovery drive are visible in disk utility only OS X base system
Unable to install maverick as there's no disc visible to select
If I try to verify the start up disc is greyed out
    Starting up with cmd r
    Tried to reset PRAM
Start up disc does not display anything
ALL TO NO AVAIL, is the hard drive defunct or is there anything else I can try ?
    Many thanks for your help
    Elie

See this thread, this is 3rd regarding recovery/restore - as a starting point.
Obviously it is easier if you have a couple backups, a drive you can use, and don't mind erasing the internal drive.
It is a lot easier then. And it would be easier if you didn't have a notebook. This forum is not MacBook Pro but the tower or workstation.

  • Help - can't install Lightroom 4.1?

I got the chance to try out the 5d mark iii today, so I installed Lightroom 4 on my computer. After realizing the files wouldn't load correctly, I researched the issue a bit and found out about the 4.1 RC2 download. I downloaded it and ran through the installer on my computer (iMac, OSX Lion 10.7.2) and everything seemed fine, yet when I open Lightroom it still reads as version 4.0, and won't import the RAW files from the mark iii. I tried restarting, re-downloading, etc, and have had no luck. Any help would be much appreciated!

All, I spent about 2 hours with Adobe Technical Support yesterday and got it to work.
We uninstalled LR4.0 and removed any shortcuts
Performed a HD verify and repair
Went to Adobe.com and downloaded a trial verison from online
    Installed LR4.0
Then Installed LR4.1 rc from Adobe labs.
Let me know if this worked for you!

  • Unable to install lightroom 3.6 error code 2753

Had issues with my computer today (windows 7 64 bit) finally was able to get a restore point that would allow the machine to access windows and all the programs (including Photoshop CS5) were functional except lightroom 3.6. I was not able to have the windows un-installer remove lightroom so I had to go and do it manually. I downloaded another copy from Adobe. When I try to install I get the error code 2753. The file Lightroom.exe is not marked for installation. I checked the FAQ's and there was only one reference to that code but it refered to lightroom 2.0 software installation. I re-installed lightroom 2.6 with no problems and I tried installing the 3.6 software after installing the 2.6 version. I had no luck still receive the 2753 error code.  When I initially installed the 3.6 version on 12/4 there were not issues and the software worked with no problems. Any ideas / suggestions? Thank you.

Hello Jeff, Thanks for the reply. What had occured was when I was working inside of Lightroom one of those balloon messages popped up making note of a hardware driver not working or missing, I really did not pay attention to be honest I thought it may have had something to do with the download of files off of the compact flash card. After downloading the files into lightroom I turned off the machine. Later on when I came back to work on the files the machine would not boot up into windows 7 instead a sort of chkdsk utility initiated, after it finished checking the disk I was given the option of going to a previous restore point, the first time it did not work. On the second try with a different restore point selected I was able to bring up windows. Everything was working except for the lightroom software. After running Registry Reviver and also optimizing the registry I still was unable to get lightroom to work.
I decided to download another copy and re-install. Well the first trouble encountered was not being able to un-install the software from the control panel utility so I tried installing the software without the old software being removed, that is the first time I received the 2753 error code. I checked adobe.com FAQ page and the only mention about this code was in reference to the 2.X version. I tried the procedures there anyway. Still no success with the error code 2753 still coming up. I then decided to remove the software manually from the computer (only in windows, did not go through DOS or to regedit). I again ran Registry Reviver software  and tried installing the software again with no success still.
Finally I decided to google the error code 2753 and review what was actually happening. Part of the instructions to clear the code required me to download some software that microsoft created (msicuu2) that would force the removal of the lightroom software from my machine (it was still showing up in the control panel un-install eventhough I removed it from the program file in windows). I again ran Registry Reviver and Optimized the registry, re-booted the machine gave it another try and this time I had success.
I am happy to report that Lightroom is working without any problems. I cannot say with any certainty what caused the problem initially for all I know it could be just a case of SH's syndrome.
I took note in your reply about the stability issue, I will pay more attention for now to see if there is a re-occurrence of this or a similar problem and then address it at that time. I would like to mention that I did not loose any photo files or have any files corrupted due to this problem........ so I am thinking more a windows problem as you alluded to in your reply than it being a Lightroom problem.

  • Unable to install Photo Library Upgrader

    I am using a 13in 2013 mac air 1.3 GHz Core i5  running version 10.9.2
I tried using iphoto today -- rarely use it, and it said I needed to install photo library upgrader -- would not open.  I downloaded the upgrader but when I attempt to install it says no can do, that I need to be running iphoto 9.0 or later.  The info says I am using version 9.5.1
This is the first time I have ever had a problem using apples nearly brainless software.
    suggestions?

Sounds like you've updated an updater to the iPhoto application. The Library updater is a different thing. Try here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1523?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Download it.
    Install it.
Then go to Applications/Utilities and double click on it to run it.

  • Unable to install Windows 8 upgrade on Lenovo G580 i5 (64-bit)

I purchased a Windows 8 upgrade online but have not been able to install it and Microsoft Support has not been able to help me though they have tried over several weeks now.
I've uninstalled Avast Anti-Virus and removed almost all start-up background applications. When I run the Windows 8 setup file, the first error that pops-up is "Setup is unable to initialise the start-up folder".
On clicking OK, the next error pops up, "Setup is unable to launch Install.exe. The system cannot find the file specified [Error = 0x800700002]".
And now, whenever I boot-up I'm asked (in a DOS screen) to select either "Windows Setup" or "Windows 7" but selecting the former says "File:\$WINDOWS.~BT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winload.exe is missing or corrupt [Status:0xC000000f]".
Microsoft Support asked me to boot-up into Safe Mode and run an Avast app that removes all traces of the anti-virus (aswclear.exe) program but I'm not able to get into Safe Mode due to the above boot issue so am at my wits end.
Microsoft Support says the next step would be to try a re-install of Windows 7, meaning wiping everything out from the laptop, and then trying the upgrade to Windows 8. I would like to avoid doing that but failing to get assistance from this forum, it's what I shall be forced to do.
    Thank you,
Derick 'tearing his hair out' Goh.

    Hi:
You have to boot from the 64 bit installation media and do a clean (custom) install.
It will not run from a 32 bit Windows desktop.
No 64 bit operating system will.
In other words, you can't upgrade from a 32 bit to a 64 bit operating system, and retain your programs and files.
So back up any files you don't want to lose.
