Software Updates advises "none of the available updates could be installed. A network error has occurred. Check your internet connection and try again."
My internet connection is working fine. Any ideas?

Try -- Safari > Reset Safari
But before you click OK, you go on the list,
And option you need, do not mark !!

I am very new to iMAC, and got it recently
At the moment i have Internet Explorer 5.1, with that i can not see many webs, like www.mai.yahoo.com, www.msn.com
For the google mail, i am able to login, but in the mail box i can not see all labels in the mail box.
I thought the problem with the browser version, then my friend suggested me to install firefox or safari.
Then I tried to install safari 1.2 on my machine, but it is giving following error messages.

Then i tried to install firefox, again i am getting mostly similar message, but the only difference is in the checksum code.
Would you please help me to install safari?
Is there any relation between the browser version and getting access to websistes?

Hi Srikanth,
I'm afraid your version of OS X is too old for Safari and most modern browsers. The earliest version of OS X Safari can be run on is 10.2.x.
You could try OmniWeb which was the original browser available for OS X. (Note the download link for the old version is towards the end of that page, not the one at the top of the page.)

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Lenovo ThinkPad E530. This laptop is only brands new.
KB954430, KB973688 & KB2538243 - These three updates keep giving me problems. In Windows Update, under "view update history" these keep showing up as failed. I also get the error, "Code 643".
At the end of the installation it tells me three updates are failed to be installed and when I shut down to try to update, Windows always configures up to ~15%, then fails, and reverts changes, then prompts me to install updates the next time I turn my computer on. Each time, I have to re-install every update that I had installed prior to shutting down.
I went through Trouble shooter - "Fix it" numerous times, Repaired Net framework profile and also followed few instructions I found from the net such as running "Reset Register Windows update Components" but nothing works so far.
I even tried manually installing KB954430 but it told me "An error occurred during the installation of assembly component. 7B30B69B-OE6C-B7EO-A06B-D6B9ABF34537 HR RESULT: 0 x 80070BC9" and the installation bar seems to stop at "Publishing Product information", then rolls back the installation.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Help unable to install OS X as hard drive not visible in internet recovery mode

Hi
I have a MacBook Pro
During use my screen froze and I had to force quit. Since then I have tried the following:
Turning on in safe mode
Internet recovery - no mac hd or partition recovery drive are visible in disk utility only OS X base system
Unable to install maverick as there's no disc visible to select
If I try to verify the start up disc is greyed out
Starting up with cmd r
Tried to reset PRAM
Start up disc does not display anything
ALL TO NO AVAIL, is the hard drive defunct or is there anything else I can try ?

See this thread, this is 3rd regarding recovery/restore - as a starting point.
Obviously it is easier if you have a couple backups, a drive you can use, and don't mind erasing the internal drive.
It is a lot easier then. And it would be easier if you didn't have a notebook. This forum is not MacBook Pro but the tower or workstation.

Unable to install Safari 5: "not a valid short file name" error

Hi all,
Previous thread has been archived, but I thought I'd post an update on this issue, since we finally solved it!
To recap, I was getting an error on trying to install Safari which said "<username> is not a valid short file name", and the installation would fail. If installing under an admin username with a shorter name, the installation would succeed, but the same error message would occur for the original user when trying to launch Safari, during the initial configuration process. The problem also plagued some other installation processes, including (for example) Adobe Acrobat updates.
The problem turned out to be related to our redirection of user's profiles (My Documents, Application Settings etc.) to a fileserver. These are pointed to a file share named users on each office's primary file server, and this works fine for most purposes. However, we did not allow users read access to the "users" folder on the server in which their individual user directories were located (this was so users could not browse a list of employee names in this folder). This turned out to be causing the problem; by allowing read access to the folder, all the issues where cleared up.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone else who may have experienced the same problem!

Unable to install Safari 3.2 on 10.5.5

I have successfully installed Safari 3.2 onto my G4 Mac mini running OS 10.5.5, via Software Update. Software Update on my MacBook reports no updates available. I downloaded Safari 3.2 from Apple's download site and attempted to install. I get the following error message.
I ran Disk Utility and repair permissions ( it found nothing ). I have no Input Managers. I called Apple tech support. They had me create a new account and try installing from there. Same results. They had me download and install a Security Update ( 2008-007 ) despite the fact that the MacBook has had ALL updates applied ( until now ). The last suggestion was to do an Archive install of the OS.
Anyone have any other ideas beside doing that?

Unable to install Aperture 2.1.4 update on Snow Leopard

Hi Folks,
I have Aperture 2.1 installed on my Mac. When I try to install the 2.1.4 update, it quits by saying "Aperture 2.0 or later is required to install this update". And Snow Leopard wouldn't let me launch Aperture without this update. Has anyone else faced this issue? Any known workarounds?
This is a clean install of Snow Leopard and Aperture.
Also, Software Update doesn't show the Aperture 2.1.4 update either.

p.s. As a workaround I am downloading the full 2.1.4 trial which I'll use with my retail serial.

I have been having the same difficulties since installing Snow Leopard. When I perform a "software update" Aperture updates are not listed. I manually downloaded the 2.1.4 update and was then unable to install it for the same reason as above; the original 2.1 version is not recognized as even existing on the computer.
Interestingly, I have the same issue with Safari. The program disappeared from my Mac Pro during the upgrade to Snow Leopard and when I downloaded the latest Safari program and tried to install it, the installer informed me that I had to have OS X v10.5.8 or newer in order to install this program; all partitions on the computer were indicated to be unsuitable for installation including the system (10.6.2) partition. This problem persists. So what gives?

I can thank recent Earthlink Webmail Problems for this request for help.
I installed 10.3.9 on my iMac G4 many months ago (software disc downloaded by my Mac store since I am stuck with dial-up service). A check of the Safari version indicates I have 1.2.3. I can't check Webmail using Safari for almost a week and use IE which is "ghostly" but works. Earthlink folks say I have to have at least Safari 1.2 (Well, forget that-I have it.) So, I checked for updates and downloaded Safari 1.3.1. When I tried to install it, the screen told me I couldn't install the update because 10.3.9 was required. What is up with that? I have it. So, I trashed the download and am limping along with Safari 1.2.3. I am puzzled. I know Tiger is great but for what I do on my computer, Panther has worked fine. I like Safari for a variety of reasons. At the moment I can't really say the same for Earthlink and the Webmail glitch. Any and all recommendations welcome.

Hi Helen,
Try re-applying the 10.3.9 combo update over your current installation and then retrying the Safari updates. This will also overwrite the change made by any subsequent Security Updates so make sure to re-apply those too.

Downloaded ios7, but unable to install. Stops at verifying update

I have downloaded ios 7, but after I agree to the terms and conditions, I get an error message that reads " Unable to install"" I have turned phone off and back on. I have deleted almost everything on my phone.
This error message is NOT telling me to try again. It simply says "unable to install"
Anyone?

I must be an idiot. I've searched everywhere but do not see a download for ios7 anywhere on the itunes site. Am I blind?

Unable to install 10.10.2 Combo Update

I am running OS X 10.10 on a Mac Pro with a RAID 5 set up. I have two RAID volumes. One for the OS/Apps and one for Data/Content.
I am unable to install to the RAID volume. See attached screen shot:

Why am I unable to install the ios 5.1 update on my ipod touch? Keep getting a message "unable to install".

I am unable to install the ios 5.1 to my ipod touch. I have tried over and over and get the message "unable to install update." My touch has 100% battery charge so I know that is not the problem.

Wifi or USB update? Have you tried the other?
Have you tried reseting the iPod? Notihng is lost?
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Unable to install voiceover, get ipod shuffle update

I'm unable to install Voiceover for my ipod shuffle 4g. When I check the "Enable VoiceOver" box and hit the apply button, I get an error message saying that "You have chosen not to contact the ipod software update server."
Interestingly, I'm also unable to use the update or restore buttons on the same page with my Shuffle. When I use either of those buttons, a dialogue box opens as though I were opening a file.

Sounds like you have some kind of firewall software or something preventing you from connecting to the update servers. Are you running any virus software or other software that blocks internet traffic on your computer? Little snitch does that, but you would know if it is on your system.

Unable to install Camera RAW 8.5 update

I'm trying to update my Photoshop CC camera raw to the latest version 8.5.
Every time I install the ACR 8.5 update. It is stated as successful. But when I open a raw file, I can see that it is still 8.0.
I have tried uninstalling everything, ie Photoshop, Bridge & CC desktop app, than reinstall. But the outcome is still the same.
I'm using Windows 8.1.
