HELP! Unable to reinstall SmartTalk. Appalling tec...

I think SmartTalk is a great app, but unfortunately like much of BT it is built around the most user-unfriendly systems and processses on the planet.
I've been trying to reinstall SmartTalk on my daughter's new phone for over the past week and it still refuses to work . I have contacted BT's SmartTalk technical help (which seems to be based in India) and so far they have failed to fix the isssue.
What really annoys me is the fact that everything seems to take 24 hours for something to happen due to the inadequacy of BT's systems. If you make any changes to SmartTalk it seems to have to go through an order system that apparently takes 24 hours for anything to happen - so if you make a change and want to check if it works, you have to wait 24 hours. Last Thursday morning I was actually told that I would need to wait until midnight on Friday before any changes went through their system. I was also informed that it cold take 5-7 working days for somebody from BT SmartTalk technical team to call me back!
This is crazy.
I also find it unacceptable that there appears to be no urgency in speeding things up or in findding a solution on an acceptable timescale. For example, yesterday I was speaking to a 2nd level supervisor , who told me that “some people are happy to wait months for a resolution because then they have a SmartTalk that works and they are happy with it”. I find it totally inexcusable that there may be an inbuilt expectation that users may have to wait months for a resolution.
Also it is impossible to find someone to complain to about this appalling standard of service. According to the technical people they can't talk with or transfer calls to complaints (and this is in one of the world's largest telecommunications companies! ) and it is impossible to find anyplace to contact via the BT website. (I tried, and got through to somebody who said that I needed to call the SmartTalk team in India - again!).
It has been a totally frustrating and demoraliing experience.
Can anybody help?

Part of the problem has finally being resolved - though I think I managed to solve most of the problem myself.
The problem is due to the fact that there were 3 iPhones involved (and no they weren't called Diana, Charles and James). A while ago my wife got a new iPhone and so we deleted her SmartTalk ID and set up a new one on her new iPhone . My daughter, who also had an older iPhone, then inherited my wife's old iPhone. Even though SmartTalk was deleted from my wife's old iPhone and I then deleted my daughter's old SmartTalk ID, it refused to install. So when I was getting nowhere with BT, I deleted my wife's new SmartTalk ID and also deleted the app from her new iPhone. After 24 hrs, I tried installing the app on my daughter's new iPhone (my wife's old iPhone) but got a message indicating that it was blocked. I then unblocked my wife's ID (removed it from the block list, but it was still not on the active list), waited and then tried reinstalling it on my daughter's new iPhone - success! All I have to do now is get it reinstalled on my wife's new iPhone.
So somehow there is a lag or error in the system that retains a memory of the previous phone and you have to remove all traces of this (even those relating to the ported number on a new phone) before it can reinstall.
I should add however that towards the end of this process I did finally get in contact with somebody in the BT SmartTalk UK design team who agreed with what I was doing. However this only seemed to occur after I had emailed BT via Facebook - I got a response within an hour; previously all attempts to get hold of somebody in the UK had failed.
So the problem appears solved (hopefully re-installing it on my wife's new iPhone will work). It is just a pity that I wasted hours on the phone and days (over a week) in waiting for systems to update to get to this stage. It was a very frustrating process that i hope others do not have to go through.
If anybody from BT is reading this please:
1. Update the BT SmartTalk portal to provide more information on what to do when changing SIM's or phones.
2. Provide a remove button to quickly delete other users on an account (at the moment you can only remove the main account holder or block (and then later unblock) other users; you cannot remove them.
3. Do something with your systems so that SmartTalk users don't have to wait 24 hours for "orders" to go through. There must be a way of speeding this up. You should not have to wait 48 hrs to block/unblock = remove somebody from the list. It should be almost instantaneous (an hour at most?)
4. Provide an email or telephone number for SmartTalk service complaints. This should be separate to the BT SmartTalk technical team (and please also provide a direct contact for them as well).
5. Provide a general complaints contact (not one for each BT silo) - customers shouldn't have to go through Facebook or this forum or write direct to the CEO to get a response.
6. Get rid of the mentality that customers will be happy if they wait months for a resolution - they won't!
I hope this helps others who may encounter this situation.

    I had Itunes on my PC (Windows Vista, 64-bit) and it worked fine with my Ipod.  I purchased an Ipod nano, and it was not recognized by Itunes and I was instructed to un-install and re-install.     I ran the sfc /scannow command, and yes the response was:   Windows Resource Protection could not start with the repair service.
    A broken Windows Modules Installer then. It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
    First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
    Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:
    Windows Update Error 80070424 in Vista
    Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:
    Windows Update error 8000FFFF
    If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
    After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
    Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time?

    Please utilize any available uninstallers that are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once all of the available uninstallers have been run you will then want to rerun the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find directions on the use of the CC Cleaner Tool and a download link at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.  After the CC Cleaner Tool is run then please reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application from Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop.
    The CC Cleaner Tool is designed to be used after running the uninstallers.  Without running the uninstallers first then a complete removal may not be possible.

    Apple is still friendly, only became more protective - for your very best. Right-click on the installer, then "Open", and then you get a window offering you the option to run it. That's a ML feature. Again, for your protection.
    Independently, and as not only with Apple, a new OS X is sometimes different, and ML is that bit "pickier" with fully compatible software. So, even if your driver ran under Lion, it can be that it won't under ML. In that case please check Canon's website if they have a newer ML-compatible version, If not, also go and blame Canon. It's their responsibility to provide up-to-date drivers, not Apple's.

  • Help...help...help! Uninstall/reinstall/account-access problems with my Suite

    I'm having great difficulty trying to find the help I need and would really like to talk to someone at Adobe for which I seem to be unable to do anywhere. I spent great money on my products and nothing here or anywhere will help. This really bugs me here that we are being forced to have to go through this damn forum as I can't get the direct help I need and this delays my progress.
    In particular, I've been having trouble trying to uninstall my product as it keeps looking for files that don't exist anywhere and so refuses to uninstall. I had the problem in the first place because when I set up other computer accounts, my Adobe products refuse to operate under them (non-admin account) and recommended uninstalling and reinstalling, a drooling and burdensome process. But I am unable to uninstall all remnants for whatever reasons.
    I tried using the adobe clear program too and the same thing occurs and so doesn't complete. I tried removing anything 'adobe' in all my registry files. I tries looking for the msi files that it demands in my installation package to no avail.
    Please contact me, Scott Mayers at my account email I provided in my personal account. If there are more than one of me under my name, I'm the one from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is annoying that I even have to publish this much just to get the help I need.     I've been corresponding to someone who responded in email and they are only trying to convince me to upgrade to CS6 at a cost to me. I do NOT want to upgrade as I've already spent a large expense on the CS5.5 Master Suite and the Lightroom edition at the same time of purchase. Whoever is responding to me in email appears not to speak English clearly.
    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and the above apps. As I mentioned to the guy in email, I am having trouble operating my product in non-administration accounts where I prefer to function for security reasons. There, the Adobe products are giving me an "Error 6" and insisting that I uninstall and reinstall again. I assumed that maybe this was due to me setting up my other accounts after I installed the Adobe Suite. I also was moving files away from the C drive in order to secure the files separately.
    I tried the uninstalls and most of it worked except for the Adobe Acrobat and other remnants. I managed to remove as much as registry markers of Adobe and then also used the download that Adobe suggested to completely clean all Adobe material. This failed as it keeps looking of msi files in odd locations that don't exist.
    I only have three remnants left: Adobe Content Viewer, Adobe Community Help, and Adobe Story. The windows uninstaller will not work nor does the cleaner. These are the indicated problems:
    Adobe Content Viewer unable to uninstall.

    so since waiting for a response here i've noticed that along with my other problems that every now and then that a speaker here and then used to drop out.. then just a little while ago i noticed that i coudn't get anything other than the 2 front speakers on my Z-5500's to work.. so i decided to uninstall and reinstall everything related to the card..
    well just now i uninstalled all things related to my creative card?through the uninstall programs feature?in the control panel.. then ran driver sweeper.. rebooted.. then driver cleaner.. rebooted.. then ccleaner.. rebooted.. then i repeated this process again in safe mode.. then i went to the device manager and removed the x-fi as it was still listed and the multimedi audio controller.. everything went ok.. or so i thought..
    rebooted and began reinstalling the drivers listed as "COMPATIBLE" with Win7 x64.. but i noticed when installing the 2.8.003 driver that it took mere seconds for the sri'ver to install.. rebooted and still no sound.. installed the rest of the drivers and apps listed for my setup and still no sound.. also i noticed over half of the icons in the programs menu never even installed..
    long story short i repeated all the steps mentioned above and tried the drivers from my Vista install disc and got an error saying that the drivers were not compatible with my operating system and was only given the option to exit..
    any and all help would be greatly appreciated THX!!

    Look at the beta thread sticked above but good luck waiting for a new driver. That beta driver has been there since January and although better than the normal driver it is still crap.
    All the boot type issues are with the SSD but if you getting in game crashes etc... under windows 8 that is simply that the driver stinks.

    I could really use someone's help.  I have a Toshiba that I am unable to reinstall windows on.  I have updated my BIOS to 1.9 from a bootable CD, I can get into the CMOS, but it will not load windows, it will not load a knoppix boot-from-CD, it will not complete the recovery CD process.  I have gotten BIOS not ACPI compliant stop errors, I have gotten IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop errors.  What do I do?  I have turned off caching in the CMOS, I have tried booting the standard PC HAL, I have hit F7 at the beginning of the recovery boot to turn off the ACPI compliant piece.  The knoppix work around doesn't load either.
    I'm frustrated, is it just plain broke or what?  What do I do next?  Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

    If your notebook still have factory settings and you use original preinstalled OS that you got with your notebook you can use HDD recovery installation. How to do this is described in Users manuals document or follow link posted by xaver.

    What I don't understand is this:  I originally bought and installed Photoshop CS6 back in March 2013, and it worked fine.  Yesterday my hard drive had to be replaced and my computer person salvaged as much of what was on it as he could, but now I have to reinstall Photoshop.  1) Why did it work before and it's not working now?  2) Is there anything I can do that does not involve reformatting the hard drive?

    It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

    To download your pages from MobileMe simply mount your iDisk.
    Then navigate to the Web > Sites folder where the pages are.
    You can't do anything with them however, since iWeb cannot import them. But it's nice to know that you can download them.
    You need the domain.sites2 files, iWeb uses to store its assets. Perhaps you have a backup?

    Do you have access to another Mac with a disk drive?  If so you can do it in one of two ways:
    1 - on the Mac with the optical drive launch Disk Utility and make a disk image of the iLife 11 disk. Connect the two Macs together and transfer the disk image to your MacBook Air.  Mount the disk image and install from it.  I have my iLife disks saved that way for quick and easy reinstall when necessary.
    2 - connect the two Mac together so you can access the MBA from the Mac with the disk drive. Insert the iLife disk, and install from the second Mac to the MBA.

    I have been using Creative suite CS3 for years now.  Recently, I got the Licensing has stopped working error message. Im running windows vista 64 bit. I tried the License recovery tool on the adobe website with no luck. So I completely uninstalled CS3 and now I am unable to reinstall it.
    Uninstall went fine, I restarted my laptop afterwards etc... Now I'm trying to install from scratch. During install I get the error message that the file AdobePDF.dll is needed.
    The adobe website makes the solution seem very simple, 3 steps.
    1. When the error occurs, click Cancel to exit the dialog box and continue with the installation.
    2. Install the Microsoft has Hot Fix as documented in Microsoft article #930627 available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930627.
    3. Update Acrobat to version 8.1 or later. The Acrobat update is available on the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/.
    I do step one. Installation completes and I am told that Acrobat has installed successfully but photoshop, illustrator, indesign, bridge etc have not. And I do see the Acrobat Pro icon on my desktop and it appears to have installed correctly. However, when I launch acrobat, I am told that acrobat can not be opened without opening one other creative suite application such as Photoshop.
    So I move on to step 2. I followed the install link specifically for windows vista, but am told that the update does not apply to my system.
    step 3- I tried to download an acrobat update, though it was hard to determine If I was doing the right one, (I did the Adobe Acrobat 11.0.01 Pro and Standard update - All languages) but I got an error message telling me that "
    The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
    Any suggestions for this mess? Prior to the original issue, I was using CS3 almost daily, and I did not make any changes or updates to my system that I know of. I even tried system restore before I even uninstalled CS3.

    Run it, then reinstall. You will still get the failed install, so this time uninstall again and reinstall another time. There's a bug in the installer that requires all this hocuspocus of doing things twice. And unless your life depends on it, leave out Acro 8 to avoid that other issue.

    Do you have another drive you can install SL on? If so, you can try installing SL on a 2nd drive, boot from that drive and use Migration Assistant to move your Apps and Data back from your Lion disk. I have not tried this, but see no reason why it should not work.
