HELP: Unable to set up a personal email account on the BlackBerry 8820

Please advise

Hello,
Please avoid any personal information within these forums...they are public, and you have just posted your personal email address for all spammers to troll for and use. Not wise.
Rather, you need to contact your carrier. To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
Good luck!

  • I can't set up my personal email account

Hi!  am hoping someone might be able to help.  My storm was delivered this morning and I have been unable to set up my personal email accounts through the setup wizard.  I only have the option to set up a work email account using a Blackberry Enterprise server and NOT add or create an account.
I've already completed the suggestions of a previous post
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=9500&thread.id=483
i.e. setting up mailing account with vodafone and trying to activate on the wireless network but nothing seems to work.  Am I just being too impatient?? Do I have to wait for activation?  Or am I just stupid?!?!?
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

Rick you need to call them and let them know you have a new BlackBerry and have them register the PIN and IMEI number on your account, and re-establish the BIS account to your SIM.

  • Can't create a personal email account on my Blackberry Curve 8520.

I cannot create an personal email account on my Blackberry Curve 8520. I’ve already followed some of the instructions from this forum and on the main website of Blackberry but still can’t create an email account for my phone.
These are the steps I’m doing when I’m trying to create and email.
From the home screen, go to Setup.
    Click Setup Wizard.
    Click Email Setup.
But when I’m in the email setup, the only option I have is the “I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.
I don’t have the option of “I want to create or add an email address”.
Now, how can I create a personal email account on my phone?
I hope somebody can help me in my problem.

  • Setting up a Comcast email account on the iPad

What is the best way to set up a comcast email account on the iPad?
Do I only have the option to use 'Other' or can I set up using MS Exchange?

Thanks. I had to try and set up for another user. I would never even consider using comcast. So outdated it's almost a joke. I find it easier to only use my iCloud email on any of my devices. I just have any other email accounts forwarded to my me.com address and just reply from there. And if you use Gmail it doesn't play nice with Mac Mail.

  • HT201320 Help trying to set up my wanadoo email account on my iPhone

Help! Not a clue how to set up my wanado email account on my iphone5

You have an email provider. This is not Thunderbird. You access the email account that you have with your provider on devices like phones and computers using an email client software. You setup the client software with the details for your provider like server names and ports. Your phone should have come with an email client software installed. Use that to check your email.
Thunderbird has nothing to do with checking your email on your phone.
You can always use your providers web mail account and log into that using a browser like Firefox or Chrome. Then there is no need for email client software.

  • Have just bought an ipad but have forgotten my gmail password.  I have used this gmail account for my apple id, if I set up a new email account on the ipad , do I have to change this apple id.  Am a very confused novice!!!

I have recently bought an Ipad but have forgotten my gmail password that I use on my Mac.  I have used this email as my apple ID.  If I now set up a new email account on my Ipad, do I have to change my apple ID as well as my apple password!  HELP A VERY CONFUSED NOVICE!!!

On your Mac, try to access your gmail account. There should be a link you click for "Forgot My Password". Click it and try to retrieve your password.

  • I can set up our email on iphone4, but cannot set up my personal email account.

I set up our family email on my iphone4, because that's the one registered with our phone, email carrier.
However, my personal email, which uses Windows Live Mail, doesn't seem to work - no matter what I do to enter the information.
Am about to put phone in garbage, am so frustrated with it.

Here's Apple's iPhone email setup assistant.  Maybe it will help you.

  • Unable to set up "other" IMAP email account

I have successfully set up an Exchange account, a MobileMe account and a gmail account; however when I attempt to set up an "Other" imap account I receive an error message re the smtp server. What am I doing wrong?

    What error message? What settings?
    Possibilities:
By default, Mail assumes you want to connect via SSL (secure); not all mail servers support that.
Many smtp servers won't accept connection except from their own domain. So if you're on a 3G network and you're setting up smtp with another ISP, their server might not take the connection.
A fallback is that Google smtp does relay messages, so you could use that route

  • Personal email stopped working after Blackberry set up!

I recently purchased a Blackberry Curve (8330) through Verizon via a plan with my company.  My company apparently uses its own server to forward company email messages to the phones.  My company email forwarding and messaging system works fine with the phones.  However, after setting up my personal email account (I use Comcast), my Comcast email simply stopped working.  When I attempt to send email through my computer (or phone) the email does is returned as an error.  I have not received any email since setting up the phone.  I account still exists when logging into Comcast from the Web.  Any ideas?
    thanks

Strange behavior... but nothing you can do in setting up the personal BB email would affect your comcast settings, AND especially NOT sending email on the personal comcast account from your PC.
My advice: troubleshoot your Comcast email with Comcast. I suspect there is some issue on their side if you can't send or receive email to your PC. In other words, leave the BB out of it for now, and get it working otherwise, them get back to enabling the email push to your BB.

  • Adding a personal email account

I'm trying to add a personal email account to my BlackBerry but keep getting the message "At this time your email, calendar and contacts accounts can't be added - please try again later".  With my previous BlackBerry (which was the same model) I just added the email address and password and that was it.  Can anyone help?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (step 1 should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRTKB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless networkPlease wait for one "registration" message to appear2) RebootBB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process.IF this fails, you can attempt the more forceful method of holding the up/down volume keys until the device fully shuts down. Wait a bit and them power up normally.See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try other email accounts so as to determine if it's just this one account that is the problem. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • I can't set up an imap email account on new ipad.

I went to settings and did everything required to set up my imap email account.  The account won't send or receive emails.  The internet connection is great.  I can set up a Gmail account with no problems, but the imap account won't work.  I had my ISP reset my password, so that isn't a problem.  Any suggestions?

hi problem is, when i start on the first screen - name, email add etc it then goes off and gets the info automatically and sets it up as a POP account - how do i change it to IMAP?
    Thanks
