I am really struggling to update my iPad to iOS 5 or higher. I don't know what version I have it's the original iPad. I have looked at the instructions to install iOS 5 and it says go to settings then to general and then software update. Easy BUT I don't have the option of software update ... Please help I am ready to throw my iPad out of the window....

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

I just can`t get started? My new IPad is connected with my computer. On the IPAD I only see a cord with an arrow pointing at a circle with ITunes. The IPad is online via a mobile (3G) sim card. Nothing happens? How do I find the preinstalled Safari etc? HELP will be greatly appreciated. Ulla

It took me a few days to get head around like all new gadgets. Safari is at bottom of my tablet. Ensure when u in iTunes on computer that u update to iCloud it takes couple hrs. U can ask where u bought. Some give tutes

I've got a jTable, which stores information that I retrieve from game servers (player's name, frag count, and time connected to the server). I'll admit first off that I'm very, very new to Swing and still new to Java as a whole. I've searched the forums several times (which is the only reason I got as far as I have) and I've also closely examined the tutorial, API, and examples. I probably have already looked at my answer, but it eludes me. My table doesn't seem to be updating its display or I'm not properly modifying the object's contents because my table will only display empty cells (although the correct number of rows). Here's some snippets of what I've got so far:

Thank you very much! :) I was very confused on how tables worked--I thought I still had to manage the data myself and the table and model were simply containers and visible settings for that (probably not explaining how I thought of it well, but I didn't fully understand, so explaining is even harder ;). Anyway, I've got it working, thanks to your help!

Whether i update via iTunes or via Wifi the updated always fails after about 2 hours in.
How can i get around this, or remove the jailbrake and update?
Please help - im stuck in South Africa and people here arent to clued up about iPads!

You state your iPad has been jailbroken, so we can't help you in this forum.
You may have "bricked" your iPad and now have an $$$ paper weight. Plus your Apple warranty has been voided and the Apple Genius Bar/Support will not help you.

If the Apple pre installed apps are working OK and it is the third party apps that are crashing, try downloading another app - any free app will work. Sometimes that resets the other apps.

Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

All media and apps should be in iTunes on the computer. Simply select the content desired to sync to the device and sync it.
FYI, backups have never included media or apps.

Same problem for me.
1. Cannot connect to wifi as icloud password pop up keeps appearing.
2. tried deleting account. UNable to do so.
3. tried resetting password by logging into apple id through desktop as mentioned in one of the responses in another thread. Unfortunately the apple id to be reset is the same as being prompted by icloud and hence unable to reset the same.
Feel like breaking the **** ipad into bits. Stupid of apple to let such a bug in and not offer support !!

Because that is the Current iOS for your Device and you can ONLY update to the Latest... current... version.

You have an original iPad.
iOS 5.1.1 is the end of the line - that is the latest iOS that model can use.
