Help updating iPad to iOs6 - phone is jail broken and im stuck

Whether i update via iTunes or via Wifi the updated always fails after about 2 hours in.
How can i get around this, or remove the jailbrake and update?
Please help - im stuck in South Africa and people here arent to clued up about iPads!
Thanks so much!

You state your iPad has been jailbroken, so we can't help you in this forum.
You may have "bricked" your iPad and now have an $$$ paper weight. Plus your Apple warranty has been voided and the Apple Genius Bar/Support will not help you.

    Hi Demo, thank you for your suggestions.
    I've tried updating in the following conditions:
    1. "Over The Air" at one location;
    2. On a Windows computer running the latest version of iTunes at the same location;
    3. On Mavericks (10.9.4) running the latest version of iTunes (11.4 (18)) at another location;
    4. On Mavericks, latest iTunes over a VPN with a server location in US;
    5. On Mavericks, using a 3G connection shared from an iPhone;
    6. On Yosemite developer preview with a previous version of iTunes at the same location.
    I got the same results in most cases except for an occasional error with code 9; I'll try again in other conditions.
    Interestingly enough, I've successfully updated my devices to iOS 7.1.2 and to iOS8 GM without any issues at the same location but, of course, no two conditions are exactly the same

  • Need help updating iPad 2 to iOS 7

    Trying to update iPad 2 via my Apple Mac computer and when i hit the update button a message reads "This version of iTunes (10.6.3) is the current version. I need help

    The Mac needs to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer; Mac OS X 10.6 DVDs are available at the online Apple Store and require a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.

    updated itunes updated ipad 3 to ios7 did restart restore and now just have black screen

    Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
    Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • Help.  ipad air flashes between white apple logo and unlock screen?

    help.  ipad air flashes between white apple logo and unlock screen?  how do i fix this ?

    You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
    Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Updated IPad 2 to IOS 7.1.1 and IPad 2 flashed

    I updated IPad with latest IOS 7.1.1 and it blanked out on me and had to save everything on computer,after it had shown me connection and iTunes symbol on screen.Transfered everything on to my computer and then it is asked me to activate IPad2 again from the begining and to input the first code I ever used when creating it.It says that my email address is not acceptable(I do not know how this happened since I only had 1 to begin with) and also I do not know how to recover this...

    If the unit has NEVER been jailbroke, first try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...  Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

    i tried to update my iphone4 to iOS 6 it restarted and got stuck. it being restarted since i have updated it and its not yet switched on. tell me what to do with this fish????

    So what happened to the phone during the process?  It should have gone black and restarted a couple of times and there would have been a white progress bar as the update installed.  Sounds to me like you've downloaded the update file but not actually installed it.  The quickest way to see version of the software is installed is to go to Settings-General-About and check Version.

  • Trying to update iPad to ios6 but iPad reverting to old email account how do I update this

    Trying to update to iOS 6 but iPad is still looking for old email and associated password. How do I update this?

    Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
    Press and hold on the Home button
    Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.
    Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

  • HT4623 Please help update ipad

    I am really struggling to update my iPad to iOS 5 or higher.  I don't know what version I have it's the original iPad. I have looked at the instructions to install iOS 5 and it says go to settings then to general and then software update.  Easy BUT I don't have the option of software update ... Please help I am ready to throw my iPad out of the window....

    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
    Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • After iOS 6 update, iPad has wrong phone number for Facetime

    I have my phone as well as my mom's on my iTunes account. She updated her phone today and signed into my account. When I updated my iPad this evening, it then associated my iPad with her number for Facetime and I've spent the last 2 hours searching for how to change it without success. It has my email--since it's the only one associated with the iTunes account, but I'd like to not have her phone on my iPad. Anyone have any ideas on how to get her number off of it?

    Do you have the mute switch engaged? It's the little slider over the volume buttons on the side. If you can see orange, it's engaged. Slide it the other way.

    I update my ipad to ios5....my apps 80% crashed ....... What should i do, help :(.      Apple pls do something, or maybe i should wait for windows 8 on tablet

    If the Apple pre installed apps are working OK and it is the third party apps that are crashing, try downloading another app - any free app will work. Sometimes that resets the other apps.

  • Why after updating ipad to iOS6 my bookmarks in safari are gone?

    Hi All,
    I've updated my iPad 2 to iOS6 and think that was a very big mistake. I now have problem accessing my bookmarks within safari. And also noticed some applications keep crushing like iBooks, Facebook, gmail and soon. Do you have the same problem? If so what is the solution as I don't fancy turning on and off my iPad every time something goes wrong. Do you know when new operating system will be available?
    Thanks,
    Maya CMYK

    Are you syncing bookmarks through iCloud? If so, have you deeleted them from another connected device?
