Help - upload PDF file - problem with adobe

We are attempting to upload a PDF file into an internet application.  We are told that our Windows 7 is not compatibale with our Adobe software and even though we have the file name appropriately it will not populate in the window that is available.
HELP!

I understand that it is difficult to determine which forum to post in since there are so many. This particular forum (sharing and storage) was created to help those transitioning from Photoshop.com to Adobe Revel. I am moving your post to the correct forum so that it can get proper attention.
I'll put I this posting in the Acrobat community so the experts there can help you.
We also have many other forums relating to other Adobe products

Out of curiosity, can you tell me how you found our forum page?
Thanks

  • Uploading pdf files created with LiveCycle Designer ES4

I uploaded some pdf files to my server that were designed with LiveCycle Designer ES4.  I can open them directly from the server using my SmartFTP program, however when I
try to download using the URL, I get the following message:
    Please wait. . .
If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contenst of teh document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows . . . .
I have both the latest version of Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro XI installed on the computer.
    Any thoughts??

    Hi,
Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).
    Some info here:
    http://www.assuredynamics.com/index.php/2010/11/using-livecycle-forms-in-acrobat-and-reade r/
A search of the forums for "Reader Extensions" or "Reader Enable" will give more information.
    Hope that helps,

  • Pdf file printing with adobe 8.1.2

I Cannot get my system toprint any pdf file. Dialog box asks if printer is ready. Then say it cannontfind Zapdingbats. Some characters may be not display or print.
Trying to reinstall the program is rejected with error 1714. I have tried to remove the program as suggested in technotes to no avail.
    What next

When a user tries to print a PDF document using Adobe Reader 8.1.1 or 8.1.2, the receive the following error message:
    Do this and be amazed:
"Unable to start print job. Is printer available?
This is persistent for all print queues. In addition, they are able to print if they have another version of Adobe Professional installed.
    Root Cause:
This issue occurs because of incorrectly ordering permissions on the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe" folder.
    1. Stop inheriting permissions to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe.
    2. Remove all existing permissions to this folder.
    3. Turn permission inheritance back on.
    4. Apply these permissions to all sub files and folders.
    5. Restart Adobe Reader 8 and verify that you can now print.

  • Macbook Air 11" i7 corrupt files problem with Adobe Illustrator CS4

    Hi
this problem may not be entirely related but maybe someone could help anyways or knows how I can proceed...
I'm running Illustrator CS4 on a Macbook Air 11" (latest 2011 model, with i7, 4GB, 128SSD), and lately some files are getting corrupted. specifically, adobe illusrator CS4 files with weeks of work. interestingly, the time machine backups are also getting corrupted.
its like I'm working on a file for a few days, backing up with time machine as well
closes the file, after a few days returns to it… (normal behavior)
then when i try to get back to the file then sometimes it says "Cant open the illustration, could not complete the operation" and opens a blank canvas.
restoring the file via time machine also gives the same error (its like all versions get corrupted simultaneously), even 4-5 versions backwards, even though they worked before when the file worked
it happened quite a few times, ruining weeks of work.
    I tried the following:
    reinstalling CS4 - didn't work
Opening the files on CS5 - still don't open
doing the file recovery thing and then opening it in a notepad - didn't work at all
using Time machine - the files are still corrupt
it only happenes with AI files, not photoshop files, for example.
I thought maybe it has anything to do with SSD? since my previous macbook pro (15", 2007) never did these errors…
    please help
    Eido

If at all, this would be I/O performance and bandwidth issues with Time Machine, but I don't think that's the problem. More to the point I think that it's a case of Preview opening the files to genereate thumbnails and icons and something going wrong there. I'd look up some guides on how to edit the relevant plist and conf files to exclude your AIs or turn off the behavior to generate these previews globally. This may help hugely...

  • Pages PDF picture problem with Adobe

OK, background--I'm trying to print a simple poster. I've always just worked up in Pages, saved as PDF (either through the print function or the export function inherent in Pages), then scooted off to Kinkos.
Today, when I got there, they opened on their Dell, read the PDF through Adobe and the picture was a negative image (or that's how it appeared to me).
Kind of freaked me out, but so I can home and checked here on my Mac and in Preview, the PDF looks perfect. Hmmm, I think, so I go to "open with" in Adobe and ITS A NEGATIVE ON MY MAC TOO!
    Grrrr.
I thought the entire point of a PDF was to save exactly what you saw in whatever application you were working with. I checked the file name, nothing weird there. I went into help and I searched the forums.
I believe it must be something with my .jpgs, but I can't figure out what. Any ideas into this strangeness??

Figured it out. I'm just posting in case this happens to someone else or in case someone else has an easier solution than what I found.
I drug the original jpgs to "GraphicConverter" (my go to graphics program). When it opened, it said the original was in "CMYK" format, but that GC would save it as RGB.
What I remembered was that the offending graphics (that adobe messed up) all came from the same place--a design friend who did some work for me and the made jpgs so I could use his work in other places.
i replaced the original pics with these new RGB only pics, saved, exported, tested in Adobe, and voila, there it was.
So, simple observation, Pages and Preview both are very comfortable using a jpg that has CMYK as the basis of it, while Adobe is not. Figures the non-Mac product couldn't handle the curve ball.
    Anyway, off to Kinkos again.

  • Hi I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me. The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reade

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

  • I get this message when I try to open .pdf files in Mozilla: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (1014:1014)

What can I do to get this to work?

We were getting the same error on a Win 7 machine which had Acrobat 7 (running in compatability mode) and Reader X installed.  When the user was trying to open the link from an email the error 'There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat.....(0:521) would appear and the pdf would not load.
Investigating the problem I can across an article to uncheck the option "Display PDF in browser" (in the application choose Edit -> Preferences -> Internet).  Undertaking this procedure in Acrobat Reader X however, I could not uncheck this and the path the app was showing was for Acrobat 7!?!
Therefore, opened Acrobat 7 and undertook the same procedure.  Unchecked the "Display PDF in browser" (in the application choose Edit -> Preferences -> Internet) which I was able to do, saved and closed the application.
Rechecked Acrobat X and the "Display PDF in browser" could be deselected and the path was now for ..\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
Retried the original email with the link to the pdf and it now opens without error.
Not too sure if this will help but just thought I would share.

  • I have a problem with uploading pdf files. This was raised in April by Mariano and the solution given - but the link to the solution does not work. How do I get to the solution?

I have just come across this problem uploading pdf files on FF 3.6. Mariano posted this same problem on 5 Apr ( I found his post after a Google search as a search of this Forum gave no result). It is shown as "solved" but when I click on the Show Solution link it just loops back to the question.
How do I get to see the solution?

The following line tells me that this is not a template file, but a document created from a template called index.dwt
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/index.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
This means that you saved a child document as a template file at some stage.
If you go to Modify->Templates->Detach from Template, you can remove the template structure from your document. All you then need to do is to re-save the document as a template.

  • Downloaded Adobe Reader the new one XI ... now can't open PDF files.. removed and reinstalled.... won't work.  Message : There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.-

It is usually quicker to get a reply if you provide all relevant information, e.g. your operating system / your Reader XI version.

Can any one help me with this problem??

    Hi garryw,
What version of Reader are you using, and are you on Mac OS or Windows? Do you get the same error when you try to print other PDF files, or is the problem specific to one PDF?
For starters, please try the solutions listed in this thread: Re: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat /Reader. If it is running ,please exit and try again.(0:104)
Let us know how it goes.

  • Problem with adobe acrobat/reader - please help!

    Hello,
My acrobat reader was fine and I was able to open the pdf files sent to me, then suddenly it just wouldn't open anything at all.  It went into open mode and just stayed there, and wouldn't let me close it.  Then I got a message saying "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader.  Please exit and try again".  I've done this lots of times and it still isn't working.
I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.  I have windows 7, and as I said its all been fine up until now.
    Thanks.
    mspryce.

This is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. You should check the reader forum. In the meantime, if you are not running AR9.3 or so, you should update. Prior versions before 9 are not designed for Win7 and that might be your issue -- you gave no indication of version.

  • I cannot open some pdf files online with Reader XI (like sample forms in Help section).

I cannot open some pdf files online with Reader XI (like sample forms in Help section or IRS.gov or credit card statements).  I have uninstalled Reader XI, cleaned and reinstalled.  I have no problem right-clicking and downloading and then viewing the files.  No problem viewing acrobat files.  I'm runnnig Windows 7,  IE9.     I can acces them through Chrome.

    RESOLVED
I found two suspect programs that were installed within the last 48-hrs that may have caused the problem
    1) - Libre Office - latest update.  This is a fork of Open Office.  (unlikely)
    2) - ManyCam video manipulation software  (likely)
Following info here, I opted to try to open an Adobe PDF file that was on my hard drive.  When I did, it refused and IE10 gave me an ActiveX error (AHA!!).   When I checked the installation of ManyCam, it had installed a version of DirectX that may have over-written the resident versions or disabled them somehow.
I uninstalled ManyCam but left Libre Office's update in place, then I ran a system restore from a point 24-hrs before the installations.
    This resolved the problem 100%.
So, the suggestion here is that there may be one or more program in the wild that is interupting the ActiveX or DirectX systems.  They may be running or installing an older version.  In this case it appears the handlers were broken.
Once the system restore had completed I was able to open Adobe PDF files within my IE10 browser from the Internet as well as open PDF files from my hard drive.
Note that this same issue also clearned up a problem I was having with the Comodo Dragon web browser, which is a fork of the Chrome project.  Once I eliminated the suspect program and ran the system restore all was well.  In the instance of the Comodo browser it was unable to open or reach anything - dead white screen below the menu bar.
So my suggestion would be to take an inventory of recent program installations, remove/uninstall them, run system restore from a date before the suspect programs were added, and see what happens.  In my case that fixed the problem.
