Help using international fonts.

Would appreciate some guidance on this subject. If I want to create a document in any given application, and use different languages, how can that be accomplished?
I see many options in the International prefs, but would like a clue before cutting loose and blindly changing things. One scary thought is that I'd change to a language and not be able to understand how to change it back to English.

To input foreign languages you need to select the correct input method. After that the font normally takes care of itself. Input methods are activated in system prefs/international/input menu. Make sure you check the box for "show input menu in Finder" so you get the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen where you can change your keyboard easily. Some more detailed info is here:

If you have questions about how to do something in a specific language and app, just ask. Some apps cannot do all languages.

PS CS2 Help using illegible font

Not sure how this happened, but my PS CS2 (Windows) Help viewer is using a crazy custom font that is almost impossible to read. I've reset the Help viewer to its default state, plus I have searched for config files and registry settings that might contain the font setting, but I've had no luck.
I would search Help for a solution to this issue, but...

I have the same problem. When you have a huge amount of fonts, the help files pick any font. Not sure how it is done. You will find that the font used in the InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop are all different when you start them from within the app, but that font will remain if you switch to the help files for another app from there. There is really no answer that I have found.
Hopefully you don't end up with Bocklin. Also, the help files are web based, so if you hold the ctrl key and use the scroll wheel on your mouse you can enlarge the font to the point it is not illegible.
Edit: It seems to have changed with CS3 apps, Illustrator cannot use the ctrl key to enlarge the font.

JTextField and International fonts using M.S Access.

JTextField shows boxes or weird characters with International fonts (Arabic or Farsi language) using M.S Access. English Fonts work fine. Any help, please.

It doesn't matter which country you are calling from. The rates are based on the country you are calling to, so for example the rates for calling to US are the same no matter where from the world you are calling.

Installing & Using a Font in Adobe Photoshop - Kindly Help me

Friends, I have Windows XP and I desperately need to use this Font called "Arsalannian" The problem is that it is not compatible with Windows XP and so I'm not able to install it in Windows. I need to use this font in Adobe Photoshop.

I do have a scan of the Title that I want to use as a Jpeg Image, but I want it as a Text.

that font file looks like it's corrupted. Not much you can do about it other than trying to download it from another location. (things like this happen from time to time with free fonts)

Line 6 of your HTML where you've used the reference for CabinSketch - it is incorrect referencing to Google Webfont library. The correct references it this:

700 being font-weight, bold.
One more thing I noticed - Rye regular is also incorrectly referenced in your HTML. The correct line of reference is:

Replace both these to your existing lines that define these 2 font references.
The current URL you've referenced to on Google Fonts API gives a 404 not found error - which means the font is not stored at Google at the referenced location which is why the font doesn't show up on your page. Try clicking on these links as given your document to see what I mean:

I upgraded to Firefox 6 random websites are using illegible fonts from my computer instead of the default. No issues with Firefox 5 or any other browser I use. Each time I open Firefox or reinstall it a different illegible font appears. Please help.

Firefox 6 using incorrect fonts.

When I delete the font that keeps showing up as the default, a new illegible font appears. The fonts are not 'garbled' they are just decorative typefaces that are being grabbed from my computer. I have never had an issue with my fonts on old Firefox versions or other browsers like chrome, safari, etc., so I don't think the issue is my fonts. I also don't want to have to delete all the fonts off of my computer. I uploaded another photo of when I deleted the font that was appearing before. Please help if anyone has found a solution to this problem with Firefox 6+ :/

Can't use Bangla font in anti-alias "anti-alias for animation"....help needed!

Hi, the problem I am having with adobe flash pro cs6 is that I am trying to use Bangla font in flash. Although the font shows up but in anti-alias "anti-alias for animation" mode, the fonts become all scattered and disordered. But when I switch to "use device font", the work okay. But in using device font, I cant really use the subscript or superscript button. So then again I have to switch back to "anti-alias for animation". I am getting sick of it. Is there any way around it?

I found an solution.
Uninstalling AirParrot as well as the two offending AirParrotDriver.kext and APExtFramebuffer.kext files in System>Library>Extensions was the fix. All problems disappeared.

Double byte characters turn into squares at PDF export use Unicode font

Hi all,
We developing with Visual Studio 2008, .NET 2.0 and Crystal Report XI Release 2 SP5 an international windows application. We use the font Arial Unicode MS in the rpt file. We translate the fix texts with the Crystal Translator (3.2.2.299).
On the distributed installation of our software, the printout and preview displays the double byte characters properly (Japanese, Korean, Chinese), but when we export the report as PDF, the characters get displayed with squares. This happens also, when the font Arial Unicode MS is installed on the distributed installation on Windows XP Professional.
I searched for hours for a solution in the knowlegde base articles and in forum of Crystal Report. I found one thread, which describes exactly our problem:

But we already introduced the solution to use Unicode font and I also linked the font Lucida Sans Unicode to the Arial Unicode MS, but we still face the problem.

Your searches should have also come up with the fact that CR XI R2 is not supported in .NET 2008. Only CR 2008 (12.x) and Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (10.5) are supported in .NET 2008. International Fonts in Safari

I installed some international fonts on my mac mini, they seem to be working fine in some applications, such as word, but I cannot see them in Safari. Font Books also shows thes fonts correctly. Can anyone help? FYI - I am a novice Mac user.

The website you want to view requires special non-standard fonts that will not normally work correctly in Safari and other Apple apps that conform to the Unicode Standard. However I have found that they will sometimes work OK with the Opera browser (or perhaps even FireFox). I recommend you download Opera and try that.
OS X comes with fonts for reading and writing Unicode Hindi and Punjabi already. This note may be useful:

Photoshop CS6 Internal Font Missing!

Help, I was using Extensis Suitcase Fusion 4 trial, and it ended, but when it did now because I can't use it, somehow it must have removed or just had de-activated the photoshop internal system font. All of my panels and menus etc except for the top windows-menus lists, but everything else is missing - blank. I can't do anything in photoshop practically speaking. Cannot see any layer names etc... normal type-tool and fonts loaded show up, but nothing in the program itself. So I can't even enter numerical values for anything. Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Muse, Bridge, Premiere, After Effects - -- all of these are working just fine.... what is the specific font I need to re-install for Photoshop to display? It is the same font that starts listing when you open the program on the splash logo where it is saying "loading fonts" etc and all that stuff, its just blank... so please whatever that font is I need to know and install it to my windows directory again so I can use photoshop. Thanks!

Hey, got it fixed but I'm having trouble really nailing it down to why it happened... it has something to do with the arial font that photoshop uses and I must have not had it loaded... I can only repeat it within the program by using Bitstream Fon Navigator to load all the arial fonts and when it does - it replaces whatever is loaded when photoshop starts - then the photoshop UI drops all internal fonts when you hover or switch panels etc... but when I close and open again it works fine -- so it must have been that the Extensis trial ending dropped a key font that photoshop was looking for - and once I got it to find it again now it at least keeps it somewhere to load each time the program starts... hopefully this won't happen again but at least I know that I just have to load all arial fonts to get it back. Thanks for the help either way, tried the resetting preferences but I couldn't even see any text in the window to reset it.

Using Japanese fonts

I assume I have Japanese fonts in my system (as I included Japanese language settings when I installed Tiger), however if I just highlight text in a document and go select what looks like Japanese names of fonts (Hiragino Kaku, Kozuka, Osaka and Ryo) they don't convert to Japanese characters. Do I need to set something else up to view text in Japanese? I've opened the International system prefs and checked the Japanese language settings I see in there. Do I just need to restart or something? Or do I need to change something somewhere else. I need to translate a brochure from English to Japanese. I have been given the Japanese tranlsation, but it won't change to the Japanese characters simply by me selecting what I assume are the Japanese fonts. Can someone help me?

You can't switch or translate languages by changing fonts.
You should be able to view any Japanese website without problems. Try clicking on this:

To type Japanese, you go first to system preferences/international/input menu and check the box for one of the Kotoeri IM's, like Hiragana, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder." Then you select the Hiragana icon in the "flag" menu at the top right of the finder and type.

According to the code which you have written, there is no value in table IT_DSO_TABLE when you are trying to read the values.And after the read statement you have given a condition for sy-subrc. Hence the select statement is actually not even getting executed. *Also you have not assigned the final value back to the ResultPackage.*_

Using internal tables in BI 7 Start routines

Hi All
I tried searching for using internal tables in a start routine in BI 7 could not find the right pointers.
This is what I am trying to do is the following:
In a DSO ZSD_O01 I have a sales order and sales order item number and this DSO also contains the Contract number and the contract Item number.
The DSO structure is as follows:
/BIC/AZSD_O0100
DOC_NUMBER
ITEM
CONTRACT
CITEMNUM
I want to read the data in this DSO into a internal table. But the key fields in this DSO is DOC_NUMBER and ITEM so I want to read this data into a internal table only for the first data package into the internal table. Thereafter I want to lookup into the internal table given the doc_number and ITEM to find the CONTRACT and CITEMNUM.
Can any of you kindly show me how to :
- Read data from a DSO into a internal table
- Read the internal table for the first data package
- How do I make the access in the internal table fast when my lookup in the internal table is not on the
DSO key columns but on a different key column

It will be helpful if you tell your requirement as the approach you suggested is not looks convincing .May be their is some easy way and we can suggest you better approach
-how to check for source_package = 1
You need to hard code it .
We decide package size at DTP level so you can declare a global variable .let say you have 50000 size of your package then use global variable as counter and read only when record_count is <= 50000 .
-how to declare the internal table so the values in it exists between different data packages
Declare a global table and select data into it .A global table retain data across the packages .
- The key on which I need to lookup in the internal table is not the key fields as in the DSO
Its ok .Let say you are doing lookup on A B and C field of DSO1 and the values may duplicate in your source .then you just need to read the internal table having data from DSO2 with key field A B C .
Better if you set them as semantic keys at DTP level so that all duplicate entries of A B C will appear in same package .

Why you want to populate values for 1 source package only not for all ?This will be helpful to understand your requirement and may be we can fulfill it in some other manner .
