Help using MPEG-2 Files
Hi,
I understand that Quicktime does not nativley play MPEG-2 Files. I read online that I needed to upgrade my QuickTime to play these files. I bought pro and it still does not work. Do I also need to buy the MPEG-2 plugin?
I tried using Streamclip to convert the file, but it says I need the MPEG-2 plugin also.
I just spent $30 bucks to do this am I out of luck until I spend another $20?

I am editing a video that is basically a bunch of JPEG images together. In photoshop, I created all images like this:
Preset Film & Video
Size HDV 1080p/29.97
Width 1440 pixels
Height 1080 pixels
Resolution 72 pixels/inch
Inside these images I put some photos (and used resolution of 300dpi to ensure quality, although I thought that 72 would be enough).
When editing, everything is fine, and the exported file .mov is also OK. But when I create a DVD from iDVD the quality of the image drops. First, I could not burn a 16:9 DVD (I put that option on iDVD, but on my TV it doesn't show with the two black bars on top and bottom of the screen as I imagine it should have), and that makes me loose the borders of the image. Besides, the photos inside the JPEG image are as if they were in low resolution.
I don't know if 16:9 problem has something to do with the image resolution problem, or if there is something I'm doing wrong.
I'd appreciate some help with that.
Thanks.That's why people do incremental saves and use backups... You could try to open the file in an image viewer like IrfanView and see which parts are salvagable, but that's as good as it gets most likely...

Best Settings for output for HD MPEG 2 files
hi,
I'm working on a project with HIGH Res Stills, animating in FCP 4.5
then outputting for a client who wants to view using MPEG 2 files
playing on a HD Monitor. My original pic files are on average,
4000 pix by 3000 at least. What are the best sequence settings?
DVCPRO 1080i60? or 1280i HD TV? and...what codec should
I set my Quicktime to...there's no MPEG 2 setting in FCP 4.5?
Should I do 10bit uncomressed, render a QT, then export that
as an elementary MPEG 2 Stream out of Compressor or QT Pro? I don't have an HD monitor, so I'm trying to figure out which sequence and export settings will render the most high DEF output? Any thoughts would be MUCH appreciated.

I would now like to create a file that has two columns: the first being the FN column (frequencies needed) and the second being the acceleration value that goes w/ that frequency using a semi log interpolation. In essence, look at the LFN column, go to the closest corresponding LFG and interpolate to find the acc that would go w/ the LFN column.thanks...another ? Suppose I have the following file:

I would like to find the rolling average of each value of the second column over a range of +\- 20% of the first column...which means for example: at 5.004882813 (freq) I have a PSD of 0.002682703. I would then take find the +\- 20% of 5.004882813....which is 4.00390625 and 6.005859375. I would then take the average of the PSD's over that range (from 0.00191024 to 0.00038013) which would give me a PSD of 0.017240039. Do this for each PSD value. For the front and back end of the file, if there is less 20% available....say at 0 (freq) you can only take the +20% because there is no -20%...just take that. ....Hope that makes sense..

Can hear, but not see my MPEG-4 files- can anyone help me?
So I bought a new digital camera- a Casio EXILIM that makes MPEG-4 files. When I try to play one of the MPEG-4 files, I can't seem to get the video to show up on my QT player. I'm using QT 7.0.3, and I can hear the audio portion perfectly, but there is no picture.
The Casio manual is 7 pages of nothing that helps. Software? You're joking, right? They graciously give a copy of Photo Loader, which seems like it was written in the stone age.
As far as Quicktime goes, I have the following plug-ins: MPG4-DIVX, MPG4* and MPG4.
The File comes up as a .AVI file, if that makes any difference.

I use ffmpegX at http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ to convert similar problem files to DV stream video files so they can be used in iMovie/iDVD. (Keep in mind that the files will grow in size from your MPG-4 sizes as DV Stream video is about 13 GB per hour of running time). -
I have been using Nokia music manager for my music files as I have used my N82 phone to store and listen to music. I have approx 50 CD's saved as MPEG-4 files within the nokia music manager and cannot get them to transfer to the itunes library. I really don't want to have to re-convert them all from CD!
When I go to file - add file to library or add folder to library, then browse the file all is fine, but the minute I click the button absolutely NOTHING happens - no error file, warning or anything - it simply seems to ignore my command! I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes (incase there was a problem), rebooted etc and nothing - am seriously unhappy as this seems that it should be so straightforward and simple and I really don't want to have to do all this from scratch!

Have now tried this too - nothing happens again. The file will show within the iTunes library file in the system folder, but not actually open within itunes.
Any other ideas - I am thinking that there is something wrong with either the way it is installed or the pc or something, but it will load the files directly from the CD.

i created some movies in avi format, used quicktime to convert to mpeg-4 files, pulled them into itunes and they play fine. however, when i try to sync/transfer them to my ipod, it won't let me. i have taken all symbols except for alpha/numerical out of the file names, and it makes no difference. ANY help would be appreciated.

Windows XPJust because they are in mp4 format does not mean they are iPod compatible.

Convert DVD (VTS files) to play on N97 using MPEG ...
I have used settings such as:
mpg4, 800kbps, 640x360, aac audio @ 128kbps. The most ive got on the n97 is audio playing with strange long streakey lines as the video.
Mpeg streamclip is a free download. Please can anyone help? Also, is there another way to compress VTS files to use on n97. Using Quicktime pro, i can set the 'Baseline profile' in mp4 settings, which i believe makes a difference so maybe i should export as mpg2 in streamclip, and export in QTP

*Mac is short for Macintosh, a computer made by a company called Apple.I'm not familar with VTS files or Streamclip so it's difficult to know what could be the problem.
MPEG-4 files should be fairly compatible, the problem is if you use AVC (H264) codecs then it doesn't work.
There are a number of video converters for Mac.
Some more details about the converted file would help.
Like:Container type
Framerate
Codec level
etc.
Also is the source interleaved or progressive and how are you setting the conversion.

MPEG-2 file has out of sync audio - PLEASE HELP
We captured four mini-DV tapes into Final Cut Pro HD using my Canon mini DV camera and a firewire. After capture we put each tape on its own timeline, added chapter markers, and then compressed each one into MPEG-2 files using the QT codec. Once we had the compressed files we deleted the origional footage and burned DVDs with the MPEG-2s.
After viewing the DVDs we realized that the audio was out of sync on each of them. It seems to get pregressively worse as the tape plays (the beginning is close to being in sync and at the end it's a few seconds off). Each tape is about 59 minutes long.
We really need to fix this and do not have access to the orional/captured footage. Does anyone have any ideas?You deleted the original footage before you verified anything !

Use MPEG Streamclip or DVDxDV to extract a DV NTSC file from the VOB files.
Drop that in the time line.
export the audio as an AIFF file
Open the file in Peak or similar application that change the length of the audio file without changing the pitch.
reimport the file to FCP
Re export the file as a m2v and burn a new disk.
Swear on whatever is holy that you will NEVER delete source footage again if you do not have access to original tapes/media.

In 1.java file :I have used

If I am only giving myjar.jar file to the client without Mydirectory then also it is working fine by showing default.htm in JeditorPane.
But my problem is I want to use

targetstr will be the filename with path of the default.htm
If I am giving myjar.jar file with Mydirectory to the client it is working but I don't want to give Mydirectory to the client .
What should I do?
Is there any solution for this?
Using another jar file which will include mydirectory can solve this problem?
Is there any othe concept in java so that I wll be able to hide Mydirectory from client?

The above code can successfully read the excel document and caliculates the sum and averages of the columns, can any one please help me in writing the same into the same file in additional rows. Need a help: how to recover using backup control file?
Please a help:
First computer
1. I create a database
2. put it in archive mode,
3. shutdown and made a cold backup
4. Created backup control file (alter database backup control file to trace)
5. I started up and created some archived log files.
Second Computer
1. I copied all files created in the step 3 above except the control file
2. I create all the same map directory on the 2nd computer as in the 1st computer
3. I recreate the control file from the script got in the step 4 above
4. I Copy archived log files generated at the step 5 in the local directory in the second computer
5. I set the logsource and set the autorecovery to on
6. I recover the database: RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROL FILE UNTIL CANCEL
Error got:

Help using file sharing with different users accounts on same Macbook
Hi, I just wanted a little help using the file sharing option. My wife and I had different users accounts on the same MacBook, but when I am trying to share my baby's picture from my documents folder for my wife to have the same picture, I can't find the way to do that; I am not been able to find my pictures on my wife's account. Is there any way that I could share a folder from my account and my wife to have the same files at the same time on her account?
I mean, something like the smart play list on the itunes?
Thank youYou can't do that directly unless you change permissions on your whole Documents folder which is not a good idea. Your wife can see your Documents folder from her account by going to Users/yourusername/Documents. However, this folder has no read privileges for others except yourself by default so she won't be able to open it.
rather than changing permissions on your Documents folder, you can place the pictures you want to share in Public folder in your home directory or in Users/Shared folder. -
