Help!!! very unstable wireless reception!!!

I am sharing a Linksys wireless router with my roommates. Altogether 1 PC (direct connection), 3 iBooks (all with airport extreme cards). It all worked fine till I sent my ibook for repair 2 month ago. Came back functional, got all software updates. Then the internet becomes very unreliable. Sometimes I am on internet, although the airport card bar shows 75% or full reception, the connection is already down. I tried to turn the airport card off, then back on after a minute, 6 out of 10 the connection is back on. I even created another user and switch to that one, doesn't improve the odd. And when neither way worked, I had to reboot the system, which is really annoying.
Surprisingly, only I got the problem, and it only started after I had the hard drive of my ibook repaired. The other computers all work fine. I checked the router setup, the PC, the other Macs, everything...Funny enough my ibook is just next door (6 ft away) to the router. I really got confused about what might have caused this problem. As is the way of the world, after posting my response to your problem I decided to try, one last time, reseating the antenna wire into the card. And of course , this time it went in much farther and now the darn thing works perfectly!!! So I recommend that you:
Shut down computer
Remove battery
Remove keyboard
Lift up annoying but necessary wire clip
Pull out Airport Card
Remove Antenna Wire from said card
Reinsert Antenna Wire until it goes in nearly flush with card. It will want to go in about 1/3 but you need to convince it to go in much farther.
I am certain that this is the solution to your problem.

Very poor wireless reception on HP Envy 17t-j000

So I just recently got a HP Envy 17t-j000 quad edition (Windows 8), which seems to be having some wifi issues
I opted for the cheaper non-bluetooth adapter, the Realtek RTL8188EE, which at present seems to have almost zero documentation on the internet. The Realtek website doesn't even show any record of it!
Anyways, here's the problem: I'm getting very poor reception with it, to the point where one of my two wireless routers has only very intermittent and horrendously slow connectivity, and the other will work a room away but no further (and also sometimes drops too, but less frequently). Outside of this range, I can still see these networks, but cannot always connect. If I do manage to connect, it will show a strong signal (4-5 out of 5 bars) but will never actually load anything. In fact, though I'm not sure this is relevant or not, I have never seen any networks with less than 3 out of 5 bars for signal strength.
Meanwhile, a number of other devices work at a much larger range and without dropping the connection as this computer does. This includes a year old HP (I forget the model) and a five year old Acer. The speed on my faster router doesn't appear to be very different between the HP Envy and the other two.
I have:
* Done a number of restarts of the network modem and both wireless routers
* Verified that the driver on the wireless adapter is up to date and reinstalled it
* Checked to make sure there are no antivirus/firewall/other programs systems that could be interfering
So, does this sound like a just a crappy wireless adapter or could this be some sort of software issue or defective hardware? Also, if I were to just replace this with another wireless card, what sort of things do I need to be concerned with in order to make sure the replacement is compatible with the system?

First - the Envy X2 is having similar problems - but my laptop is the 17t-j000 quad
so this IS the correct thread - -
I used the HP support assistant - - it installed an updated BIOS -
The WiFi still shuts down at 8 - 10 min watching Netflix (no mouse or user inputs - Max signal strength indicated)
{Yes - I have disabled allowing the machine to turn off power to the WiFi card in the driver section}
Loaded the Softpaq mentioned above (quoted below) - - 200MB - had to be SOMETHING in there ??
It loaded without a problem - - strange thing is - the Intel Driver date stayed the same: 9/17/2012
Tried the WiFi - - still shuts down at 8 - 10 min
Went back to HP Support Assistant - -
NOW it says - - I need a new WiFi package ?!?
So - I download and installed THAT - -
Back to Netflix - - and so far - has been NO SHUTDOWN ?!?
2 episodes watched - still connected - fingers crossed

Very unstable wireless network connection

I just installed archlinux in my notebook and, unfortunately, as the title says, I'm having a hard time getting my network connection to work properly.I'm getting disconnected every once in a few seconds.
I've already disabled ipv6 but that doens't seem to fix the problem.

Rebooting and connecting with the wifi-menu did not solve the problem.

Wireless reception very poor on HomeHub 3

My wireless reception with my previous HH 2.0B had become very poor. The signal was starting to drop to 1 bar when the laptop was only 10 mtrs away from the hub. There are no thick walls or major obstacles in the way.
I discussed at length the problem with BT technical help and after eventually speaking with a supervisor / manager it was agreed that if I started a new 12 month contract they would send me a HH 3. They would also slightly reduce my monthly charge.
The HH 3 duly arrived but there is absolutely no difference in the wireless reception. There is certainly no improvement on the HH 2.
Has anyone else had this wireless problem and any possible solutions? It is very frustrating and bearing in mind all the adverts that the HH 3 is supposed to be the best it's very dissapointing.

I see any wireless router not much more than a gimmick, very easily the reverse would happen in my home.
There is so much that interferes with wireless in the home and the neighbour’s home and occasionally the people across the road. I can pretty much see the testing scenario for wireless routers and very likely far removed from what would be considered average home!
Take my set up when the home plugs are not burning out, the main computer sits around 3 metres away from the Hub type A, connected wireless has about ¾ reception and stutters with streaming. My daughters computer sits in what many would consider a dead spot has full reception streams IPlayer alike no problems. Move the hub in any direction a matter of Cms then it goes wobbly in the dead spot, this happens with 3 different manufactures of routers with varying extremes. |The type B Hub simply can’t be convinced to put its wireless in the dead
spot. Not very scientific but a average user home, I believe and I'm convinced wireless is as much use as a clairvoyant.

Laptop Wireless Reception Very Poor

I've been using my PowerBook G4 for years on the kitchen table with excellent wireless reception until a few days ago when overnight it went completely. A hardware test proves the airport extreme card inside to be intact. Eventually I got a full signal back but only in the same room as the router (not even in the next room). My daughters intel MacBook continues to work absolutely fine so I don't think its to do with interference and I've tried changing channels on the router. Anybody got any ideas?

Are you using an Apple Airport base station?
Does the problem occur when the microwave and any wireless phones are not in use? Are you in a single family home detached, rowhouse, or apartment complex?
If the latter two, maybe one of your neighbors has enabled something in that frequency that causes interference.

Computer randomly shuts down/Very unstable since upgrade to yosemite

Since upgrading to yosemite my computer has become very unstable.
For anyone that can help with what may be causing this issue I would really
appreciate it. As for "Adobe" being a possible cause, how can I determine
which Adobe program and related files are the culprit?

A number of problems exist including the likelihood of system corruption as a result of using CleanMyMac.
It is not reasonable to expect a Mac to operate normally after using CleanMyMac. Like many ill-conceived "cleaning" utilities, it is capable of corrupting a Mac to the point that erasing it completely is the only practicable means of recovery. CleanMyMac is not the only example; it is merely popular due to marketing strategies that are as effective as they are intrusive.
There is no practicable way to reverse the effects of having used CleanMyMac2 other than to reinstall all affected files from backups or their original sources. Its developer's uninstallation instructions are ineffective despite their recent claims to the contrary. Only MacPaw, its developer, can know the reason for that, but I can think of two possibilities: either they are purposefully leaving components behind for reasons known only to them, or they simply don't know what they're doing. Neither one of those possibilities is particularly comforting for the user.
Reinstalling OS X alone will have no effect on either removing CleanMyMac or reversing the damage it is capable of inflicting upon a system.
Besides CleanMyMac2, garbage "cleaning" and "anti-virus" software exists, specifically "Avast", "Smith Micro", and "Symantec / Norton". Those products should not be installed on any Mac, because they convey no benefit and are only capable of creating or contributing to problems.
In addition, that Mac's Hosts file appears to have been modified. Fixing a modified Hosts file requires specific instructions. Apple Support Communities contributor and EtreCheck author etresoft recently added a User Tip discussing that concern, and how to correct it: Fixing a hacked /etc/hosts file
The recovery procedure that follows will obviate the need to correct all those separate problems and is likely to require the least amount of your time and interaction.
Follow the applicable recovery procedure below:
If you have a backup that you created prior to using CleanMyMac, now is the time to use it. For Time Machine, boot OS X Recovery, and at the Mac OS X Utilities screen, choose Restore from Time Machine Backup. Choose a date preceding the installation of CleanMyMac.
If you do not have a backup that predates the use of CleanMyMac, create one now. To do that read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
The recovery procedure will require that you erase the Mac using OS X Recovery, and then create a new user whose contents will be empty. You will then be able to use Setup Assistant to migrate your essential documents including photos, music, work products and other essential files.
When doing so, select only your previous User account and do not select "Applications", "Computer and Network Settings" or "Other files and folders". De-select those choices.
Subsequent to using Setup Assistant, you will need to reinstall the essential software you may require, once again remembering to install software only from their original sources, and omitting all non-essential software.
To erase and install Yosemite read: OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X
To migrate your essential documents read: OS X Yosemite: Transfer your info from a computer or storage device and follow the procedure under Transfer info from a Time Machine backup or other storage device.

WLAN connection is very unstable

Ok, Recently I have started having problems with my wireless network. Before I continue I want to state that the laptop did fall off my table landing itself directly on the wireless network card and sure enough this is when my issue came up. But, I am hoping that this isn't the case and that no internal damage was done as it didn't fall far and there doesn't seem to be serious damage.
My connection is very unstable. In the time I will have spent typing this I will have lost it once. About once every 2-5 minutes. When I lose my connection I simply pull out, and re-insert the card. Usually it works. Sometimes I get a message asking me to install new hardware, the PCMCIA MTD-0002. And other times it just re-acquires my IP address and works for a bit longer.
I looked around the internet a bit and found many with the same issue. None with an answer that worked for me, then again none with a Toshiba laptop. I am hoping you pros here can help me out. The first thing I wanted to try was to get a new driver. But in my device manager it says they are all up-to-date and I haven't had any other experience downloading from sites, and I do not want to get the wrong one.
I am running on a Toshiba Satellite, I believe it is a type R, further than that I don't really know. It's OLD. If there is more you need to know I'll answer promptly.

As you said the issue came up after the notebook fell down.
In my opinion this is a reason for occasionally interrupts. Maybe some connections are loose.
Fact is that the external PCMCIA card is recognized and dont think that this could be a driver or software problem.
But to be sure you could contact the support of the PCMCIA card manufacture.
Anyway, I think the problem is related to the fall and the technician should check the slot.

Iphone 4 running 4.3.5 wifi very unstable/will not connect to network

Hi all iPhone users. Im new to this so please bear with me. I have an iPhone 4 (had for about 1 month or so). I have recently updated to the new 4.3.5 software. Sice then, my wifi seems to be very very unstable. Im only about 10ft from my router and when I go to connect, I get an error saying 'unable to join network'. I previously had an iphone 3gs and that connected fine further away.
When my iphone 4 does connect, the connection lasts about 10-15 secs and then it will not load any web pages although it shows its connected. I have tried all methods on previous threads but nothing seems to work. Ive also tried retting my router and changing the wifi channel to make the signal stronger but nothing seems to work.
Ive seem some threads where people have 'put them in the freezer' but im not willing to do that as the phone is only a month old. Ive tried the network reset, the hard reset, re-installing itunes and trying the update again but it nothing seems to work.
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

SOLVED
iPhone 4 wasn't having any joy (and neither was my new 4s).
Tried turning OFF the security on the router, connecting the iPhones (yep, they connected OK) then turning on the security (WPA2-PSK [AES]) and both iPhones still connected.
So, it looks like this is the way to solve a non-connecting iPhone 4/4s with a Netgear WiFi router.
Hope this helps others with the same problem.

Please help very slow internet

HI guys,
i have very slow wireless internet... Yesterday i have update to 8 MB. I have one PC where router is connected to. I did speedtest.net and it shows 6.4 mb which is really cool.I have MBP in my room about 15 meters away and 2 doors in way(don't know if that matters) I am connected by wireless. I have download AirGrab wifi radar and it shows only 32% signal and when i do speedtest it shows only 226kbps Then i sit next to router so the radar shows 100% signal and the speed was 1.4 MB a little bit better but still not enough. What should i do or buy to get as fast connection as possible. I feel horrible the PC is 8 years old with 6mb speed and my mac pro.. well u know. Thanks a lot Tomas

I have had problems with this for the entire time (18 months) I've had my Mac Book Pro. My desktop is noticeably faster with wireless than my MBP. Transferring music through iTunes is also slow. It will break up. Sometimes restarting my mbp will help with the speed. I'd love to find a solution.

Premiere Pro CC 2014 Very Unstable

My CC2014 is very unstable since I have updated my Adobe Creative Cloud Software from CC to CC 2014, and I've been an adobe user since 1999 and I switched from FCP to Premiere in 2012. Everything has been great until the last two upgrades. What is going on???
My Premiere Pro has been very unstable. I can't keep it running for more than an hour before I receive the Premiere Pro has encountered a serious error and must shut down. I can't get anything done. I've gone from working 40 hours a week to 60 hours a week since I upgraded. This is extremely counter productive. Please HELP!!!!

At work we have many who travel with train alot, where the internet is very unstable at best. And they have trouble getting their e-mails. So the question is if there is a way to increase the mail cache in iOS 7, to lower the dependence of internet.

I don't think so. Unless it's in the settings, there's not much that can be done.
are they using wifi on the train? If so, maybe switching to cellular. There are devices like the Mifi, which is a battery operated portable wifi hotspot that they can connect their device to.
If the wifi on the train is solid, I know I've had issues using certain hotspots. For example, my yahoo mail simply will not pull down via the mail app if I'm on some AT&T hot spots. But if I go in via safari then it works. So if the signal is good, maybe using a different way can help.
Or maybe looking for a mail interface that isn't apple's. There are others in the app store that may have better function or more control.

How's the wireless reception?

Sorry if this should be in the Networking section...I wasn't sure. But I was just wondering how well the reception is on the MBP? I have heard that the old Powerbooks had trouble connecting to access points because the aluminum casing hindered this. Any troubles getting wireless reception in places where plastic cased notebooks received it easily? Thanks in advance for any help.

I use a Dell Latitude D600 and a 15" MacBook Pro at both work and home and I find that the Dell usually reports a full strength signal and yet the MacBook suffers with bad reception. I originally thought this may be a channel problem but this is not the case.
At work we are currently using a Linksys access point and my laptops are about 20 meters from it. Dell reports full signal and MacBook reports about 2-3 bars strength.
At home I use a Belkin Pre-N router and everywhere in the house or garden the Dell reports full signal strength where as the MacBook Pro really suffers in the garden or upstairs.
Now the strange thing is upstairs I have an iMac G5 17" and that reports a full strength signal. Sit the MacBook Pro next to the iMac and the signal is no where near as good.
I am convinced that the antenna on the MacBook Pro suffers more purely because the case is aluminium (or whatever it is!) and this is the problem.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Very unstable book created with the DPS

We have created a book of some 450 pages.
The fact is that is very very unstable with the ipad (content viewer)
Anyone know if stability is improved when the App is created or is it similar?
The book holds few seconds from a time is closed, it is totally useless.
We have a presentation within a few days with the client, we are desperate,
because it is a project we've worked for months ... and now not much.
Someone is just like us?
There is a possible solution?
Someone can give us any help or hint?

Within a script-enabled Web content based on jQuery.
Basically it is a system of Sliders, namely RoyalSlider can be found in codecanyon.net.
This module allows slide pictures with your finger.
Now we're re-creating the entire book with the system moving images offered by the DPS.
But the user experience will be much poorer.

Very unstable PC Suite

Nokia N73 V 3.0638.0.0.1 30-10-2006, Connected via Bluetooth. D-Link DBT-122 USB Bluetooth device Widcomm D-Link Bluetooth Software 4.0.1.2303. PC Suite 6.81.13.0. WinXP Pro SP2 (all updates except IE 7 is installed). Nokia PC Suite is very unstable and I can't figure out why. Sometimes it can't connect to my phone. There's no error message. Just 'Can't connect...' or something like that. When that happens, it often helps to restart the phone. The worst problem though is the fact that almost all programs in the suite freezes much to often. If I edit contacts it freezes sooner or later, if I send messages it freezes, if I install applications it freezes, and if I use the File manager, it freezes. If I click on 'Manage connections' I can see two Bluetooth connections. 'Bluetooth Microsoft' and 'Bluetooth (Widcomm)' but if I disable one of them they get enabled again automatically it seems. Could that be the reason to the unstable PC Suite? Regards Thomas G. Madsen

I would say you should borrow a friends phone (a Nokia model, but not n73) and try that phone with same PC and PC Suite. My suspect is that n73 is the problem, have you tried battery booting th ephone or restoring th ephone with *#7370# code ?

N96 runs very unstable: Firmware 30.033

Hi everybody I recently could change to a N96. After I became it, Idid a firmware upgrade to V. 30.033. The Problem is, that the N96 runs very unstable since that.. For example: recently i've listened radio, then opened the browser, and wanted tochange the net-settings to umts- BANG-- Reset.. A lot of resets are ocurring during navigation with nokia maps and also google maps.. But: these resets can happen anytime, without a single sign before. I'm really helpless, (and im not a newbie) Heard that it could have to do with too full memory cards, but it can happen also without a card inside the phone.. I already did multiple soft resets and hard resets- without any success. Is there anybody there who knows what that could be- i've read about other users with the same problems since they've upgraded to V 30.033. Never before had a phone who did a reset, so this is really new for me and absolutely annoying, and especially in this price segment actually innacceptable!!! Thankyou for your suggestions & help

i think there is an option in the settings that allows Wlan to scan automatically in a period of time like (5 minutes or so)
you can change it to OFF or Manually
