Help! video no longer plays in iPhoto, why is that?

Made no changes to settings, but now the video that I keep in iPhoto 09 suddenly no longer plays video. It's unassociated with Quicktime for some reason. How to fix? thanks for your help!

Are you still running OS X 10.4 or some version of Tiger?
Can you export the movie, Format=Original, to the Desktop and open it with Quicktime there, either by double clicking on the movie file or dragging it onto the Quicktime Player application?
If you can open the movie by dropping it on the QT Player application then try the following:
1 - select the movie and type Command+i to bring up its Info Window.
2 - go to the Open With menu and select Quicktime Player.
3 - click on the Apply to All button.
4 - reboot.
5 - open iPhoto and try playing a movie.

Did you repair permissions and restarted your computer after doing the above? If not, suggest that you do so.
Download VLC Media Player which plays avi files & just about anything else you throw at it. Make sure you repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation.

Bloomberg video no longer plays since last system or Java update - I do not recall which.

In last 45 days or so, Bloomberg video no longer plays.
This is the result of a system or Java update - I do not recall which. I've tried all the tips that Bloomberg has suggested to no avail... and they are no longer assisting me! Please help, friends. I've been a Macintosh user since 1986 (really!), please help, friends.

Yes, I use Sophos. But, recall that with another browser (Chrome), video plays fine. So the issue is not with Sophos per se.
Safari-Preferences-Extensions is set to OFF ?
I just turned Safari-Preferences-Extensions to OFF. Video will sill not play.

I did this, but, I an unable to delete all the Site Data; I get an error box: "Flash Player was unable to delete all local storage. The files may be locked by another program. Close all browsers or restart your computer, and try again."
I get this error even with all the browsers are closed.
I think this points to our bug: Only in my Mac OS user profile and only in Safari there seems to be some Flash Player file which is either 'open' or 'locked' to deleting.
Where could that pesky file be????

Video no longer plays in the project

I looked all over for this same problem, but could not find another discussion on it. I have created several projects, (iMovie 09) the video and audio worked fine. I had to have pushed some button, but now the video no longer plays on any of my projects. The audio works fine. Tried rebooting, ran permissions..nothing. Please someone help.

I stumbled on the same problem as you. For me everything got messed up after trying to preview my project in fullscreen. Just got a blank black screen and now I can't ad titles or preview the clips! The most annoying thing is that I'm almost finished with the video I spent 4 hours on!
Anyone here now what the cause of this problem can be? Seems like many here have stumbled on it a few times
Edit: Just noticed my whole project seems to be done for! I can't even change the themes and when trying to change the settings of the clips it says "no clips selected" even when I can see they are in my project!? This is really frustrating.

HT3209 My purchased iTunes videos no longer play on either of my Windows 7 computers. When I try to play any of them, it shuts down iTunes. Any ideas? I do have the latest itunes software loaded. jgh

If it is any consolation this started happening to me today. I am in Toronto. I am wondering if there is a copyright issue here. I have done nothing to solve it - mostly because I suspect this has nothing to do with my computer.
p.s. My speculation about copyright is not correct. Comedy Central plays fine with Google Chrome. Have not yet tested Firefox.

iTunes purchased video no longer plays on 3GS after upgrade to os 4. Specifically, curious George episodes used to make my 2 year old go off to his quiet place no longer play on my iPhone. Anyone else having this issue or know of a solution? The content was purchased on iTunes and played fine on previous os.

Videos no longer play in Full Screen-why?

My music videos and movies no longer play in full screen. I don't know what I did wrong, but I'll tell you what I did right! They've been playing correctly, and today I went to play a new music video i downloaded from iTunes and I noticed it was a small thumbnail. I checked the others and they all played back the same. I went to my iPod settings to ensure that I had it set up to play in full screen. Can someone help and tell me what (if anything) I've done wrong? Thanks so much. Lori

Video does not play in iphoto

I have an iMac with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. iphoto accepts my videos from my camera, but when I double click on them in iphoto, they do not play. I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with quick time version 10.0 (131). I can go to quicktime and play them but curious as to why they do not play in iphoto?

Download and install QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later and then try playing one of the videos in iPhoto again.

Videos no longer play in itunes 12

Upon downloading the new itunes 12, videos in my library no longer play on my computer. The second screen come up and looks like it wants to start but stays black. The video play button ison bu the time toggle doesn't move.
Any ideas?

Here is the log. Looks like its QT is crashing it. So, again, its either QT, or one of the Vista updates. I haven't tried to watch a movie on the computer in awhile so I have no idea what update in the past few months is causing the problem.

MPGs no longer playing in iPhoto

Upgraded to Snow Leopard (not certain this is the issue). Movies in iPhoto library that once played (QuickTime) by double clicking no longer play.
I can drag (copy) to the Desktop and they play normally, so I know the files are clean. Just can't launch QT from iTunes.

Did you install Quicktime Player 7 when you upgraded to Snow Leopard? Check in the Applications/Utilities folder to see if it's there. If not do a custom install of Snow Leopard and select QT Player 7 as the only item to install. That should fix the problem.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
NOTE: this is not the same as routinely backing up your entire iPhoto library folder to protect your photos. It only protects the loss of your organizational efforts that the database file contains.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

One minute video no longer plays on my web page (but it used to!)

I have the latest version of iWeb.
On one of my pages I had a short one-minute video that played fine. Then I must have done something problematic, because now that video does not play when that page is opened. The video does play on my desktop iWeb (the working iWeb) but does not play on that page on the Internet.

Videos no longer playing since os7

since updating to os7, all videos in itunes not purchased through the istore do not play. I have purchased DVD and Blueray discs with digital copies that will no longer play on my devices. any ideas?

Close all of your apps and reboot the iPad and try again.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" or drag up on the app to close it. Close all apps this way.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
