HELP W/A FIRST ACT GARAGEMASTER GUITAR

I own a FirstAct GarageMaster guitar, one of the models that came with a previously purchased Volkswagen Jetta. I'm sure you've seen them before. I have a small Marshall amp, but wanted to record with GarageBand. I followed the instructions on Apple's support page for doing just this; I purchased the 1/4 to 1/8 Monster Studio iLink cable thing, used the cable that came with my Marshall amp to connect my guitar to the iLink cable. I changed my Sound preferences in System Preferences to Line-in input, and opened a Real Instrument track in GarageBand. I selected "Stereo 1/2 (Built-In Input)" for my input for the instrument. After following all these instructions, I struck a chord, and...nothing came through my computer's speakers or my headphones when I had them plugged in. What am I doing wrong? Am I supposed to use another cable?

if the Monster cable has a 1/4" jack on one side, then sure, that's fine (i was under the impression that it had plugs on both ends, but I'd never looked one over before)
it sounds like you've set things correctly.
more often then not, when folks have posted this issue (and set things up correctly) it's an issue with a cable. do you have anything else with which to test the iLink cable? another guitar cable to try (even if it works on your amp, it worth a try if you have another one)

Help for compiling first Java script

I am a begginer java programmer. Iam trying to compile a java script using .bat file which contains
c:\j2sdk\bin\javac -classpath <c:\j2sdk\lib\dt.jar> . ReadOnlyMaker.java
But it comes back with error as below

Access is denied.
I have admin rights on this machine but the directory j2sdk , where java is installed, is always staying readonly even after changing permissions in properties tab.

First of all you don't need to be in the ..\..\bin directory to execute the javac.exe, java.exe, etc pgms as commands. If not already set up correctly, you can just add this to your System PATH.
Next, start by executing from the directory your .java PGM is in.
Then, what is that <...> stuff?
Lastly, if it's a .java file, it's a pgm file and not a javascript. Javascript goes is only for web work, embedded in html.

It is too late to backup now, the disc is already malfunctioning.
Backup is what you do before things break.
Take it in and hope that something can be recovered, don't be surprised if it can't.

It probably did not turn itself off. It most likely went into "sleep".
Did you try to restart the Apple TV? That is what solved the problem for me.
Go to the main AppleTV menu - you might have to press the Menu button a couple of times to get there - select Settings, then Select General, scroll down to Restart and select that.
As long as you don't have a "Do not unplug" message on your screen, unplugging the power cable, waiting a minute, then plugging it back in should accomplish the same thing. I always prefer using the menu method over unplugging.
If that doesn't work, I fear you might have to contact Apple. They will likely tell you to restore your AppleTV to factory settings. That will be a pain in the neck since they will need to walk you through it. They might do that for you at an Apple store. I'm a senior citizen too, and it's easy for me to look helpless - even though I've worked in computers and networking for a very long time.
Sorry I can't offer any better advice.

rows get inserted into the tbale, but only whol columns have the data.
all the attributes are correctly mapped to view instance and view attribute.
My VO has 1 EO and , i have joined another table to get desctriptions of the field.
could that be the problem ?

table t is the custom table I want the data to go in. but only who columns appear after commiting.

URGENT : Please HELP : Loading a first image too slow

I want to load an image to save it just before in a JPG format so as to obtain finally a byte[] array of this JPG image result.
So, to do it, I tried to load my Image from different ways but I have always a strange comportement... My problem come from the reading :
First, I use the imageio classes...

And then, I use the oldest method :

But finally, I understood my problem is that the first time I load an image (no matter the format, JPG, BMP, TIFF... or other) the loading phase is very slow and lasts at least 30 sec. But then, every loading that I do will gonna be really fast. (No more than 1 sec.) It's look like if the first time there was a kind of dinamical alocation or something like that.... but I tried to find some configuration parameters to set it... But without success. :-(
If someone could have an idea to suggest me... it would help me very much.

I have tried today one more time to resolve this issue... but without success... Anything I do with the loading of an image... by imageio or other ways... it's still the same problem... the first time I load an image, it takes me 40 - 50 sec to load it and after this first load, it is very fast with others... and with every formats. It's not a question of format but of memory allocation, I think... but I'm not sure...
PRECISION : I work with an applet, is there something to configurate to allocate some memories or another thing ?!?

I require help with my first website

As you can see from many of my recent posts, I am new to web development, and I have decided that I am going to need some help.
This forum has been a huge help, and I will continue using it, but the reality of the situation is that progress is slow as I am learning as I go, each junction I reach and require help with is holding up progress, which wouldn't be a problem if I had more spare time, but I simply don't.
Is anybody willing to help me? It would be paid work so I would need to discuss how this would work with rates etc... here are some details:

What you are basically after is a tutor, to guide you in what you are doing. In this respect it may be worth your while to read-up on designing web pages,as after a quick glance of the code, (from your previous post regarding the background image ) the main problem you are having is that you are not 'implementing' a consistent design/development procedure.

I haven't reach the point where it compiles. It failes to download the file. Oddly, when I type:
wget http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/source … .60.tar.gz
it downloads fine. When running makepkg, the contents of ./src/fpm-0.60.tar.gz is some kind of web page.
I have eyeballed this PKGBUILD script for a while and I can't see any problems. Is there something special about sourceforge files? I feel that I must have a typo because makepkg is using wget, which works by hand.

I installed kedpm with my first working PKGBUILD script. I was able to import my "fpm" password file. Once I get my gnucash stuff transfered into grisbi, I will be able to switch my main machine completely to archlinux.
I know it is trivial for you guys, but here is my script -- it might save you some typing.

Help- Trouble Publishing First Website

Hi, I built and I am ready to publish my first website to the web. I have a host and an ftp account and have signed into the ftp account. I have fallowed a tutorial from tutvids.com that tells me how to publish my site and I fallowed it exactly. I am able to connect to the server from dream weaver and I am even able to see my files on my cpanel on my web server. I also have been able to connect ftp account on filezilla and I can see my files. After all of this my site is still not online and I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Am I missing something? Is there something I can check to see if I have done something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am getting an error on filezilla saying connection closed by server but before that it did connect to the server and it did have the files. I sent a support ticket to the server asking them for their help but of course they have not answered me back yet. The web address is www.centerstagesalon.net. When I got to that site it just shows the host and that I can sign in to upload the site but it should be the site. The web hosting account was created two nights ago but the domain name was purchased a couple of months ago. The domain name was purchased from a different provider but I have already pointed it to the the host and it does go to the host. The tutorial showed that when you go through the site manager on dreamweaver you put in your ftp info and test it and mine worked fine. I then fallowed the instructions to add the site files and they were added fine. Then I checked to see if it was online and it wasn't. So then I tried to get help through the host. I submitted a support ticket, which hasn't been answered. I also fallowed the instructions and configured the ftp account and dl filezilla. I was able to connect to the ftp account through filezilla aswell and saw the files on that. I then went to my file manager on cpanel for my web host and the files for my site were there under the public folder but still the site is not online. So I am confused and thinking maybe your right that something is wrong with the host. I hope they answer me soon!!

Need help finalizing breadth-first search function...

I have a map with bidirectional links and I am to find the shortest path so the first path found will be good for me. I tried follow the algorithm for BFS and it shows below. However, I am not sure when/where/what I should return per loop. I would like to get a list of Nodes (map represented by numeric node numbers). I dont think returning a list is right for this recursion so i put down int for now... I think the steps are right but just not sure how to get the result.... Please help! thanks!

You have almost all variable defined outside your method. You "should" declare them inside. Also, there is no need to make a recursive call (which makes it easier to return your path).
