Help w/Word

I created a Word document on my Mac. Two problems:
1) I can't attach the document in e-mail (neither mac or yahoo account will let me). Instead I transfer the document t/a memory stick to my old PC and send it that way.
2) When I open the document on my PC, it looks very different. The Font colors have changed, the clipart I imported from my Mac doesn't appear and the photos I inserted come up blank. Is this normal? If I turned it into a PDF on my Mac would that solve the problem?

You could save the file as a PDF and that should retain all
details from the original, when seen later in another OS.
Also, depending on the version of Word (independent or a
part of an Office suite) you may have settings and options
in preferences for the application to save a document as
one more compatible with a PC version; so it will look more
like the original you created in the Mac, when seen on a PC.
(Assuming fonts are available in the PC similar to those in Mac.)
You could also try saving the Word doc as a .zip file, and
attaching that. Sometimes certain attachments may be
rejected for a variety of reasons (or none at all.) If an
attachment has an executable file (app or utility) inside
a .zip, some email systems won't send it. A Word .doc
should not be a problem as an attachment. If you save
it as an archive (native in OSX makes .zip file) that may
go OK; but any format errors in there may need to be
corrected by saving your Word document in one of the
versions in preferences when making the document.
I have not tried making a Text Edit document to send
to a PC user, to see if their Word or other app could
open it correctly. That is a basic word processing app
and like Text Wrangler (freeware) has some good points.
I have Office X and 2004, and NeoOffice... don't use 'em!

Help! Word quits unexpectedly whenever I try to open it

Help! This morning I opened my computer and my microsoft Word will not open. It was working fine last night and I've never had this problem before. I have an IBook G4 (purchased April 2004) whenever I click on the Word icon, it brings up the pop up message that "Word has quit unexpectedly" and asks if I want to send a bug report to Apple. I have shut down and restarted my computer several times and the problem continues.
A few things to note
- I have been getting a note lately that my start-up disk was almost full. This morning, after the word problem started, I deleted tons of photos and music, freeing up a lot of space.
Any suggestions on how to get my Word working? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

after loggin in as the original user, try going to Users-your username folder-library folder-preferences folder
look for a file named like "com.microsoft.Word.plist" or something like that
or just do a name search for that file
move the file to the desktop, restart and try opening the Word.
try at your own risk though.

First of all, you have got to be granted the privilege to read and write to the file system, this is a must to use BFile read access.
A global function bfilename returns a bfile taking the file path as an argument is needed to construct a blob object through dbms_lob.loadfromfile.
A very helpful example I found on orafaq follows:Create a link to the directory where the file to load in the blob is
(connect as system then grant read privilege to your user):

You can use UTL_FILE package in another way, but this is much more safe;

Help! Word for mac 2011 won't open files

Hi,
I wasn't able to find a suitable category to place this question under, but hope someone can help all the same.
I have Word for Mac 2011 on my 2011 iMac. In the last couple of days, it has stopped opening files (by double-clicking on them, or by going to File > Open). Instead, I get an error message which reads:
"Document name" uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version
(The message then continues with smaller print, telling me how this is for security reasons but that I should be able to use File > Open to access the file - which I can't).
The only way I have found to open the files is by using File > Open and in the 'Enable' box choosing 'Recover Text from any file'. However, this is pretty unhelpful because I lose the file's logos and formatting.
Note that this problem happens to all files regardless of which version of Word they were created on.
Please help! I really need to access my Word docs...

I am also suddenly having this problem. It seemed to start after I upgraded to Lion. I had Word 2003 until I upgraded to Word 2011 last year, so I don't have 2008 to go back to. The documents it won't open are just blank. They will open with Open Office. This is just so annoying! I thought it was a Lion incompatibility, but you are saying it is a Microsoft problem?

Help with wording

In my app I have a recommended JRE version, and I check the clients JRE version against what is recommended. I want to display a message sorta like this:
"if your JRE version is older than the recommended version, you should upgrade. If your JRE version is newer than the recommended version, you should probably be ok"....
what i want help with here is how to word that last part, "...you should probably be ok." ....that just doesn't sound good.

Help! Word Tables are Coming into FrameMaker as Text Boxes

Help! I am converting a Word file into FrameMaker (FM) the same way for the past 10 years---now all of a sudden the Word tables are converting to text boxes, ahh! I open the Word file in FM, apply all my formatting & page layouts from my template, and then I go through and apply styles, format, etc.---this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks where ALL tables convert into text boxes in FM, help! I need to get these docs out ASAP! Thank you so much.

Hi Arnis, it's happened with both FM8 & 10, and Word 2010. It's also happened when I save a PDF as an RTF---always worked in the past w/o any issues at all, but I just saved a 70-page doc from PDF to RTF, and ALL tables came in within text boxes...?
I just saved the Word file as an RTF, brought it into FM, & it worked, thank God! Thank you so much for your help----what do you suggest about the PDF to RTF tables-in-text boxes issue? THANKS!!!

I have been able to get it to correctly count the words in the file but none of the characters and it also does not display the words alphabetically and just displays it in an odd way

That's because hash tables are not ordered; to maintain order of insertion you could use LinkedHashMap and to maintain alphabetical order TreeMap.

I'm sure a few seconds on Google and you would have found the answer. But, take a look at Apache POI. This will allow you to extract the text from the doc files.

Somehow my word documents now seem to be showing all of the tab, paragraph and the such symbols, It's annoying, can anyone tell me how to make them go away? thanks in advance

Help Help in Word Substitution

Yesterday i took a full backup for my bb, and wiped it, then i retrive it back, but the Word Substitutions (Auto Text) is lost, i need it in any way, when i retrive Word Substitutions it show me error that not all has been retrived 4/5

HELP - all words are getting underlined in red while using yahoo mail. How to fix this?

I am using Firefox browser and already upgraded to the latest 5.0. While using my yahoo mail all words are underlined in red(it is happening as I write this note). How do I stop this from happening and have just he mispelled words underlined? When the email is sent the underline goes away.
