Help - weird graphic "flash" in published file

I have several published Captivate files I have
imported into a Lectora file delivered via our LMS. When entering a
page that contains a movie, I'm seeing this weird green graphic for
a split second, then the movie begins to play. The graphic looks
like a grid of navigation buttons - next, back, refresh, mute, etc.
It's only happening on pages that contain a Captivate movie.
Nowhere in my Captivate files or my Lectora file do I have a
graphic that looks like this.
Any ideas as to what's happening and how I can get rid of it?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Rachel

Hello,
If I do understand your question all right (sorry, am not a native English speaker), I do believe you are mixing up two things. If you want indeed to publish to PDF (and not to SWF or EXE), you'll get a multimedia PDF (in which a SWF can play) but in that case the user really do need the Adobe Reader 9, previous versions do not support multimedia PDF.
What seems a bit contradictory is that you start with mentioning an issue with a PDF that should be called from a CP-slide. The problem there could be that you were linking to an absolute path on your PC when browsing, can you check that? If you introduce simply the name of the PDF and you make sure that the PDF and the CP-published files (normally HTML, JS and SWF) are uploaded in the same folder, the CP will find the PDF. I think you now have a 'broken link' because of an absolute path reference for the PDF.

open your fla is flash pro.
    click file>publish settings
    tick swf and html wrapper
    click file>publish
upload the newly published swf and html to your server.
open the newly published server html using your browser.
any problem?  if yes, post the url to your newly published html.

  • Screen Resolution changes on published file - please help

    Hello,
I currently have my screen res in my projects set at 1024 x 768 - on some files (not all) when I publish the output generates with a resolution of 1220 x 1220???
I have absolutely no idea how this can be possible as I have checked and double checked my project size etc...
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Thankyou
    ali

Yes it did help, in the respect that I felt confident that it wasn't anything to do with my project settings. The published files became corrupted when they were copied across to our intranet server.
    thankyou

  • My Adobe Programme has taken over my Publisher Files~Help!

My adobe programme has suddenly taken over all of my Microsoft Office Publisher files; renamed them as PDFs, but wont allow me either to open them as PDFs (which I don't want anyway!) or allow me to convert them back to Publisher Files, which is how I want them!
I know I have obviously changed a setting somewhere, but I don't know how or where!
When I uninstalled Adobe I got all my Publisher files back but now, of course, cannot open my PDF files.
I reinstalled Adobe in the hope that it would sort itself out, but it has snatched all my publisher files again!
    Help!
I really have no idea how to resolve this and would be very grateful if any experienced ADOBE person can advise me. Thanks.
    Ken

    Hi Claudio,
    Thanks so much for responding.
My operating system is Windows 7.
I will give what you suggest a try and let you know how I get on.
I really appreciate you taking the time to contact me.
    Kind regards,
    Ken

  • Can you help with the code to publish Flash to my own domain.

Thank you for your help, I publish the my site to my own domain, I do not use .Mac, I tested your code and ity works well on .Mac, can you help with the code to publish to my own domain.
    Thank you again

You appear to have just collected a variety of code snippets and thrown them together, including a section of AS2 code ( gage.onRelease = function() {... )
The suggestion I offered yesterday still stands.  You should find a tutorial regarding AS3 and the atan2 function.  Beyond that, what you show suggests this is a school assignment.  You should seek help from your fellow students and instructor if that is the case.

  • Captivate 5.5 published files are not visible in Fire Fox or open in new window.

When I publish and post Captivate 5.5, the HTML or the swf files do not display in Fire Fox (latest version) without forcing the file to open in a new window (if it displays at all). If it does work, the Flash security blocks the swf on an ugly view until the user clicks.
I thought it was because I have to assign a direct URL to each component, but all of the other Captivate sites I have reviewed have the same issue when viewing in Fire Fox.
IE will display after the active x is authorized (I can live with that).
You Tube and other Flash display properly in Fire Fox, just not Captivate products.
I have disabled off all plugins, modified the protected settings, and everything I could find listed in the Fire Fox help. I have installed a previous version of Flash and Shockwave Player. Short of reinstalling windows, it is not working and that will not help because the published content is not visible on any other machine in the office or at home.
The files are in a Portal, so I cannot share them unless you are in the DoD and have an AKO or DKO account.
However, here is another example of the Captivate not working.
https://clc.dau.mil/games (this displays on some computers, but not all)
http://www.hartisd.net/pages/uploaded_files/Assignment_Search.mht (After allowing the mht, this displays in IE)
I am not sure if it has something to do with the other 2 published xml files that are not directly referenced in the html, but I just need either the swf or html to display in the iframe without forcing another window to display and without a lot of dependecy issues with other add-ons in Fire Fox.
    - Thanks!

Any of the DAU games, if they display. It is a government site, so they have the standard gov garbage (stuff not working like certificates), but nothing is harmful nor can they do anything to track other than the current session.
It is kind of weird how the content is displayed... It is not an intranet, it goes to a limited access portal. When I store content, it uses an absolute path instead of relative path. Very aggrevating when using many of the tools for non-programmers (like me), and probably more aggrevating for programmers.
Whether I point directly to the .swf or to the generated HTML, the content displays in IE, but not in FF.
It may be a combination of FF and Captivate. FF seems rather flaky in dealing with swf files. There is the consideration for add-ons, but I tried on a newly imaged computer and it still was not working. Even after going through all of the FF steps to get it to work.
Basically we had to create a new HTML file to display the content because the Captivate published files don't work. However, the new HTML does not reference the XML files.
When I publish, I get 5 different files, .swf, .htm, .js, and 2 .xml. When I dig through the code (once again, not a programmer, soo I may be missing something), even round tripping to Flash, I do not see how the .xml files are referenced at all.
These may be different topics, not sure, it came up because I am trying to get a simple solution from the product that can be easily transferred to our production servers and available for Solders to access.
    - Thanks

  • (How can we) Import Flash Professional .FLA file format?

How can we import a Flash Professional .fla file format into Flash Catalyst? It would appear that we can't...at least not yet! I have added this as a feature request within the adobe labs site for Catalyst. Someone at Adobe suggested that I also explore the forums, so here we are. If you would also like to have this feature added, please let Adobe know by promoting the
    idea.
Our use case is this: we have a large Flash file with a library of over one thousand skins and assets that were built in Flash with Adobe's Flex Skins Templates. These stateful, graphical skins were used within a custom theme by several Flex 3 projects.
Now that we are looking to migrate to FlashBuilder 4, and start to use Spark components, we are trying to find a workflow that allows us to use Adobe tools and to reuse our existing vector artwork. Since we have such a large number of assets, we are exploring various approaches, including the use of JSFL. So far we haven't found a good way to migrate from Flash-built skins for Flex 3 to Catalyst-built skins for FlashBuilder 4.

    Hi Ajay,
    See attached V 7.0 example...
    Hope it helps,
    Nick

  • I beg you.  Please.  Help me.  Flash keeps crashing and I have a beast computer.  I want to cry.

Please.  Anybody.  Somebody.  I beg you, help me!
    My Specs:
Processor:  Intel Core i7-2600k CPU @ 3.40 GHz  3.40 GHz
    RAM: 16 Gig
    Windows 7 64 bit
I have Adobe Flash cs4 and cs5.5.  I jump back and forth in attempt to bypass crashes.
My situation is not ordinary.  I'm working on a huge project.  So huge that Flash has literearlly crashed on me 1,000+ times.  (Don't worry adobe, I LOVE your products so much,  You guys are the best ever.)
When it crashes, I recieve messages about "not enough memory".
If Flash could go 64 bit, maybe the problem would be solved? I need to finish this project asap.  I beg you, please help me.
Right now it's crashing while I try to export.  Currently, with CS5.5 it crashes whiel I try to open the monster files.  But with CS4, those same monster files open fine.  Every action is a gamble.  Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.   I'm real scared. I've spent months on this project, this is my life basically.
And for it to constantly die in front of my eyes...it kills me inside.
How can I overclock Adobe Flash?
    Devonanne83 says:
"After Googling this forever and finding no help, I finally fixed the problem and it was stupidly easy so hopefully it'll help you as well: In Flash, go to Flash>Preferences>Publish Cache and up the memory allocations. By defualt it was only at 10mb for memory cache size limit, so it ran out of memory every time I tried to export as a Quicktime movie since I had a bunch of high-res PSDs in my movie. I upped it to 200mb and works perfectly now.
That seems like a nice idea.  I didn't try it yet becuase Cs5.5 keeps crashing when I try to open my monster files.
Somebody please help me.  I'll put you in the credits, the special thanks.
    Project File Details:
    Has 2,000+ Library Items.
.fla file is 353 mb.  (if I decreased it, would that help?)

I just received some horrifying news from Adobe about my production suite.  I just FINALLY learned today that what I've been trying to do for over a week now - CAN'T be done because of compatability issues involving updates of both Adobe & Microsucks Winders!!!  I sincerely hope this is not your problem.  Mine is ALMOST HOPELESS!!  Being in this HOPELESS Obamma economy,,,, leaves NO STIMULUS in which to currently upgrade everything that needs upgraded for me to fully use my INVESTMENT in Adobe Suite - sad, horrible and SICKENING!!!
I just wanted to post this. And again, I truly hope you find a solution. Good Luck!

  • Flash's published HTML (+js) won't work in Safari?

I have created a Flash file that consists of nothing but an FLVPlayback control that loads a .flv file. I then use the default publish settings to publish the .swf. The resulting HTML file opens, displays properly, and plays the movie in IE7, FF3.0, and Chrome 2.0. However, when I open it in Safari 3.0.4, I see nothing; just a blank page. Safari has FP10 installed and has no problems displaying Flash content on any other web sites, e.g. iTunes, Apple. Adobe, or YouTube). I don't have IE8 to test on (I installed it and it hosed my whole system, so it's been eradicated).
I am loading the file locally from the file system; I want to make sure it works before I publish it. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but I don't see how it could. The AC_RunActiveContent.js script is present and getting loaded (I wish I were right now ).
Has anyone else experienced this or know what the problem might be? I am including the entirety of the HTML content it generated here for reference (I have changed the tag brackets to braces just so it will post here).

Yes, that would be helpful, I know. However, the file isn't being hosted anywhere. It will be e-mailed, I guess, as an e-vite. I just created the Flash file and published swf & html plus a jpeg as a still. Then I sent that to the marketing person...who knows less about this than I do. But for some reason, when she opens the file up in her IE browser, she is getting an older revision of the e-vite that isn't playing correctly. I suspected that she possibly only referenced the new html file and it sourced the old swf file. So when she played it in the browser, she saw the old swf file play. I've asked her to make sure she deletes any old copies and just uses the new html and swf files. Does that sound like a possible solution? I haven't heard back from her yet to see if that solved the issue.

  • Help inserting a flash video into my web page

    Hello!
I'd love some help inserting a flash video into my web page. My web page is hosted by Viviti, templated, and edited online. I can add html to it, and I have the html source for my flash video. I also have uploaded the flash file to the server. Since I am very html illiterate, though, I need some help rewriting the html script so it can be published. There are two problems- firstly, no 'headers' or 'body' allowed in the script- these are already a part of the template. Secondly, I don't know how to rewrite it to refer to the uploaded files. It's also imperative that the full screen mode functions. I've pasted the source code for the flash video here. Please help!!!
    Thanks!

What you basically need to do is copy the sections of content from the code you show into the template (assuming the template already provides the <head> and <body> sections of the page.  So in the head section of what you show, take everything starting with...
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    all the way down thru...
    </script>
, inclusive (in the head section only), and paste that into the head section of your template.
Similarly, take everything that lies between the <body> ... </body> tags (exclusive of the body tags) and paste it into the body section of your template wherever you plan to display the Flash file.

                                                                                    Hi
Somewhere above your tag, you will have a line similar to this - Also in your tag the swf file -
These are the files that I said may be wrong or missing.
However if you just edit the flash generated page and include the items you
require in this, and maintain the same file position, you should have no
    problems,

  • Distortion of excel charts when converting microsoft publisher file to pdf

I am using the print "Adobe PDF" function in publisher to convert a publisher file to pdf.  Some exel pie charts that were pasted into the publisher file become distorted at the edges in the pdf file.  I have tried playing with various settings and using the "print quality" settings but nothing has helped.  See the attached files for an example of the excel chart, publisher file, and results I am getting when converting to pdf.
    Thanks all.

I'm sorry I didn't make it clear.  What I'm trying to say is that the graphic looks just fine in publisher.  But when it is converted to a pdf, the graphic has distorted edges, if you look at the publisher and pdf files I attached I think you might see what I'm talking about.
Please let me know if it's still not clear.

  • Captivate 5: Audio is cut-off at the end of the published file

    Hi,
I'm using Captivate 5. I published my projects to Flash 10 (SWF/HTM) format and the audio is always cut-off at the end. For example, if my last slide has this audio "Thank you for time and have a good day.", what you will hear is only "Thank you for your ti" or "Thank you for your time and have". This only happens on the published file. The audio is not cut-off when you preview the project.
    Here are additional observations:
-> If I published with playback controls, the audio is cut-off the first time i view the output; however, the second time I view the output or if I drag the playhead, the audio is no longer cut-off. The timing of the elements (mouse, highlights, audio, etc.) is also way better when I view it the second time versus the first time.
-> If I published without playback controls, the audio is always cut-off no matter how many times I view the flash file.
-> I have tested publishing to Flash with different # of slides (10 slides, 50 slides, 100 slides) and the result is the same. So I don't think it has something to do with the number of slides.
    > Note also that the last slide has enough audio to match the slide's length. So I don't know why it's cut-off.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
    Regards,
    Rose

  • Captivate 4 - Issue viewing exported PDF in published file on LMS

I'm working in Captivate 4 and have included a link to a PDF document on a particular screen. It works beautifully when I view the published file until I move the files into the LMS - at that point, the PDF won't launch.
Here's what I've done and hopefully someone can tell me what I need to do differently?? I created a click box on a screen and have set the On Success field to "Open URL or file". I browsed to find the location of my PDF and clicked the drop down arrow to select "New" and "Continue playing project" (so the learner can return to the original course when they're done reading the PDF). When I publish the file to Flash, I select the "Export PDF" option and it does it's magic. When I preview the published version, everything works beautifully, the course runs, the PDF launches and life is good. Then, I set up the course on our LMS and copy over the published files (including the source PDF). The course plays as expected until the learner clicks to view the PDF - at that point, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Does this have anything to do with Adobe Reader 9 (which many of our learners wouldn't have on their desktops)? Do I need to convert my PDF to HTM? Help... please!

    Hello,
If I do understand your question all right (sorry, am not a native English speaker), I do believe you are mixing up two things.

  • Captivate 3 Published file won't execute JavaScript

Pulbished Captivate 3 course.   Final screen has an exit button with the following script:  ab_SetScoreStatus(100,'completed');ab_CloseWindow();       When I post the course to our LMS it uploads fine, but when I try and run the course I get an error when I click on the Exit button and it doesn't do anything.   I had someone try the same thing on their computer and it works fine for them so I'm thinking it's something with my settings.   This used to work for me but then I got a new computer so not sure if the settings (IE, Flash or ????) are different or what.   I'm running Flash 10, and IE 8.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Good morning Rick, and thank you for trying to help.
