Help!  weird problem playing videos

When I start playing a video, the picture looks good. About ten seconds in, I see all kinds of white distortion so bad I can barely make out the picture. When I press a button or adjust the volume the distortion clears up for a few seconds, but then goes back distorted. If I leave the ipod plugged in to the computer the video is all clear, but the second I unhook it the distortion reappears. So, I plug it into the wall charger thinking it's a battery/voltage issue. Nope. I'm lost.

Sorted it, I accidentally gave the file a file name more than eight characters!

  • Problem Playing Video in Premiere Pro CS4

I am having a problem playing video in premiere pro. When I input any movie clip and try to play it in both the timeline and in the preview mode, the audio works fine but the video only plays a few seconds worth of footage at a really slow pace so that it takes up the entire time. For instance if I load a 3 minute video, the sound is normal but over the coarse of that 3 minutes I will only see a small number of the frames and they are cycled through in ultra slow motion.
All the clips play normally outside of premiere. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program. I have premiere installed on my laptop and it works fine. I have tried rendering the video first and it still doesn't work. I have tried holding shift before the program is loading and it did nothing. I have downloaded all the updates too. Videos seem to play fine in After Effects.
Also, I am having trouble when importing HD video into premiere and after effects. For some reason the programs freeze when I try to import footage from my Creative Vado HD pocket video camera.
    Here are my computer specs
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit
    Intel Core2 Quad q8200
    ATI Radeon 4670 Graphics Card
    Gigabyte Motherboard
    4GB of 800 Mhz RAM
This is really frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Keith,
The file extension .AVI indicate a "wrapper." All sorts of stuff can be in that wrapper *. Some of that stuff will play/edit fine. Much will not and create issues, as you have seen. Your camera uses a CODEC to create those .AVI files. That CODEC is the issue. I recommend G-Spot to find out what the CODEC is. Some times it's just a matter of having the proper CODEC installed on the computer. Most of the time, it takes much more than that - hence Eddie's links on "conversion." At least G-Spot will get us all on the same playing field, and explicit help can follow - probably to study Eddie's links. My guess is that your camera uses some form of DivX CODEC, hence the problem that you see.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * Think of .AVI like the foil wrapper on a stick of gum, when you remove the outer lable. You know it's gum, but not what flavor. Could be Juicyfruit, or Spearmint, or Double-mint. G-Spot will tell you the flavor. PrPro likes some flavors, but hates others.

  • Problem playing video made from final cut

In my digital media class we use intel mac pros with the newest version of final cut pro. I made a 4 minute horror movie using a sony FX-1 HDV camera.
When i exported it from final cut, i exported it as a quicktime using the HDV 1080i60 video codec. Then i brought the finished final cut quicktime clip in quicktime and exported it as a pure .mov file that is 881 megabytes in size.
After that i put it on my flash drive and brought it home to my windows XP machine with specs listed below.
I attempted to play the movie and it said i needed a codec to play it. There was no video but the audio was clear and pristine.
Obviosly my PC is well beyond that of a normal consumer PC (seeing as it was built as a gaming PC) and it cant be that i havent met the requirements.
I cant find the HDV 1080i60 codec any where on the internet and the apple support team doesn't list a phone # to call.
I also have a 22" sceptre 2ms 300 nm, 2000:1 contrast ratio monitor capable of playing 1080p video so it cant be the monitor.
can anyone help me to play the video. Im running the newest version of quicktime 7 pro.
Help me plz, i would greatly appreciate it.

Export to QuickTime movie and set the size to 1080 and the codec as H.264.
Adjust the audio codec also to help reduce the file size.

  • Sound Problems Playing Video's in iTunes

When i play videos (either ripped or bought from the iTunes store) in iTunes the sound is all broken up and clipped. However they play fine on the Vieo iPod my PC is sync'd to and, critically, iTunes audio files play fine on both PC and iPod. Any ideas? Settings for sound seem fine. I've even upgraded the memory on my Vaio to 1Gbyte in case it was that but nope

Should have said if I start quicktime seperately from iTunes and play a video stream from its website the sound is fine, however, if I open an Mpeg4 iTunes video file the sound problem occurs just like when i play a video in iTunes from the store or an Mpeg4 file from the hard drive that I've bought from the store or ripped from DVD

  • Problems playing videos on quicktime

i am trying to play videos saved on a wireless external hard drive, but the video and sound plays slow and choppy. My QuickTime app is fully updated and the movies used to play great. Any ideas?

Oops! In my effort to simplify my explanation, I reversed the actual mechanism I wanted to describe. As more experienced users are aware, the dropping of frames is what occurs when the the player in not capable of processing enough data fast enough. (E.g., when playing very large display files having complicated video codecs using very high data rates on a wireles network having insufficient bandwidth.) In the case to which I was referring, the playback by the player overruns the ability of the wireless device to provide source data. If this difference is great, playback may actually freeze to allow addition data to be cached by the player. In instances where this difference is very small, the player may only stop for a fraction of a second which is long enough for your eyes to interpret the stop as a playback "jitter." While this is not the only possible problem here, it can be a common one for files having unspecified compression formats, display dimension, file data rates, and/or wireless bandwidth.

  • Help needed to play videos

Hi, I am new Apple user and my work requires that I view various streaming videos from various sites. I am thus far, not able to view even one ! Called Apple support and downloaded and installed FLIP4Mac, but that didn't work either. Is this going to be an ongoing problem ? Anyone know, in laymans terms, how/what I need to do to be able to play wmv extension files?
    Appreciate your help. thanks much

Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
You were given the correct information. It sets up a Preference in System Preferences.

  • Help - SYNC problem watching video on Fancast

On both of my computers , When I watch a video on Fancast and other sites that use Flash Player the video and voice is not in sync. The longer you watch the farther the voice and video gets out of sync. The voice is ahead of the video. The video is also a little choppy. I use Firefox and Explorer browsers and both have the same problem. I have updated both as well as Flash Player on both computers. When I watch videos that use other players I do not have this problem. So if anyone can help please do ,it is not good to watch shows so out of sync.
    Thanks

Best post this in the iTunes section.

  • Problems playing video in iMovie

Hi, I copied some video footage over from a friends macbook onto mine but now it wont play. It's an .mp4 file and it plays the sound but only with a black screen. I have tried it in various video playing software such as VLC and Quicktime but they are all the same. When I open the video in iMovie, it shows the images in the video so I know the data is there but again, when i play it, a black screen. Help?! Is converting it to another file type likely to help recover the data?! Please don't tell me the video is lost as I have no way of getting it back again!!!

  • Problems playing video within flash application on windows 7

Hello, I am trying to debug a problem with a stand-alone flash player application.  I have been given some educational content that has been packaged as an adobe flash player application for windows.
This program has embedded mp4 files.  I can see the files on disk also and I can play them fine with every video player on my PC.
However when I play the videos inside the flash application they video sticks, replaying the first frame over and over (the audio continues fine).  I don't think this is a problem with the adobe application because it works fine on several other machines.
This seems to be an issue with one specific machine (windows 7) and how it interacts with this application.
The properties tab on the abobe player exe shows a version of 11.4 r402.
I have tried to research this online and also on these forums but all advice seems targeted at the players for browsers, and this is something different. I am not sure how it is produced, I think perhaps by some adobe packaging product the provider is using.
I also realize this may be the wrong forum but it was the best match I could find.
Any tips and pointers greatly appreciated!
    thanks
    James

Any ideas here? Even a suggestion for a better forum would be great.
I am really confused that the videos play fine with media players I have but not within the adobe player app.
    Any suggestions?

  • Problem playing videos from Youtube on Nokia N8

Since a few days ago, I have some problems to reproduce  videos from Youtube on my nokia N8. (The phone is updated with the latest version of Symbian OS.)
What is the symptom: Basically the images and sounds are "cut or chopped" .. the videolooks "pixelated".
This situation is similar to when the PC is necessary to have some video codec and then the videos are seen and heard wrong.
The problem occurs on the browser and in other applications like Xenozu "(in normal and high quality). I have a flat rate internet, but the problem happens also via wireless.
Other videos and systems work fine, for example RedBullTV.
Its very strange. .. I do not know what happens! : (
If anyone can help me .. thank you very much!
    Regards.

In http://m.youtube.com/app I receive the message " incompatible device "

  • Please help! Problem playing film on PC!

When I edited the project I worked in two sequences for a while, but copied everything in the first sequence onto a new sequence and deleted the first sequence. It seems like this is why the film can't be shown on a PC or be uploaded to Youtube. It seems fine when I play the Quicktime on the Mac the film was edited, but it doens't work anywhere else.
None of the formats want to play on PC. The film only works on the Mac the film was edited. Unfortunately I don't have the Mac where the film was edited here now, but when I try to open the Quicktime on my PC I get this message: "The sequence 1-FIN-00000018 can't be found. The film can't be played without this sequence". That happened on another PC aswell. Someone suggested that I've exported a reference movie from FCP and not a self-contained file. Does anyone know how I can solve this?
    Please help!!!
    Thank you!

    >Someone suggested that I've exported a reference movie from FCP and not a self-contained file.
They are right. The clue here is "reference", the file refers back to the content of other files. If those files are missing, your movie is worthless.
    >Does anyone know how I can solve this?
Go back to the Mac where your project was made and export a self-contained move that uses a common codec such as H.264.

  • Problem playing video then audiobook

Has anyone else noticed any issues when going from playing a video file to and audiobook. My ipod will continue to play the audio from the video while the audiobook is playing. If I shuffle songs between switching it works as usual.

I just tried it, it does the same thing to me.
I have to go to Music and play a song first, then the audiobooks will play fine.
I am getting tired of all these little annoying bugs.
