Help! What happened to my menu bar?

My old imac has been getting sluggish. Today I turned it on and all the right hand side items on my menu bar are gone, including the clock, airport settings, volume, all of it *pffft*.
I immediately hit restart, no changes but it was very sloooow. Shut down, walked away to think about it, couldn't come up with anything. Started it up again and I still have nothing on the right side of the menu. Everything still works okay but no items on right side of menu except the Spotlight.

Yes, they made it able to start a "private Window"...
But does it WORK?
I noticed that in v20, Firefox send cookies that were set before the "private Window" was opened.
This means NO PRIVACY !!!
A site you visit in your "New Private Window" will ID you by the cookies it has set in the past.
Privacy is gone... bye bye ...
Of course one can manually delete the cookies for a certain domain.... but why would i want to go through all this work...
I hope it's fixed.
And if it's not fixed.. it will be bye bye Firefox ... terrible choice.

Lost my ability to control what appears on the menu bar

When I upgraded from 10.8 to 10.8.2, I lost my ability to control what appears in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
For example, Time Machine no longer shows there. When I open the system preferences and check the box that says "Show Time Machine in menu bar", the check mark appears briefly, then disappears. It will disappear as many times as I check it. I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion. When system 10.8 was installed, the menu bar worked. When I repeated the upgrade to 10.8.2, it quit working again.
Any ideas?

Only the song/album/artist info is displayed on the "now playing" screen.
As for lyrics, play any song to which you've added lyrics. Then press the centre button repeatedly until the lyrics appear.

Help with international settings - the menu bar flag is gone!

The flag no longer appears in my menu bar, nor does the "show input menu in the menu bar" check box in the international section of the System Preferences stay checked. I no longer seem able to type in Chinese, which is what I really need to be able to do.

Now for solving your problem! When did this start happening? Have you tried a bit of maintenance, like:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Tools and Help is missing from my menu bar.

All I can find is how to add the Menu bar which I have; what I'm missing are the Tools and Help menus. I have updated to version 21, and it's still missing. How do I find those 2 missing menus?

Hi anniespahic, if you have no menu or toolbar area at all, you might be in full screen mode. The F11 function key switches between regular and full screen views. You might also get a menu to exit full screen view if you slide your mouse all the way to the top of the screen and right-click.
If you have a toolbar area but no menu, try tapping the Alt key to show the menu bar temporarily. Then you can re-display the menu bar using
View menu > Toolbars > Menu Bar
(I'm assuming Windows; this might work differently on other operating systems)
Can you get your menu bar back?
Regarding #2, I'm not sure what you mean by index. Is the problem that the page lacks the normal styling (i.e., shows raw text instead of menus)?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Nube needs help inserting a JQuery horizontal menu bar into my site-help.

Please forgive the ignorance of my questions but I am new to Mobile site design and Dreamweaver.
I am trying to build a responsive web site for my company that can be viewed on multiple platforms, but am having trouble inserting a responsive menu and responsive slide show.
This post is in regard to the menu bar, which I have created using JQuery on a seperate page. I have managed to get the layout to work but still can't figure out how to create mouse overs for the links
or how to insert it into my site.
Please help.

Ok, I managed to place the menu within the site, but I still don't have a horizontal menu. All I can see is the unordered list.

What happened to the scroll bar in version 11?

I have thousands of songs but besides that I like to listen to an audio bible. I use to be able to scroll up and down very quickly to find what I wanted but now I have to scroll using mouse wheel which is tiresome and ridiculous.Am I just not getting something or was a simple scroll function overlooked?

Try this maybe it solves your question:
Try this to bring back the "old" iTunes view
Ctrl + / brings back the status bar
Ctrl + s brings back the Side Bar
Ctrl + B brings the Menu Bar back.
Other handy shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + B it will bring back the column browser.
All these keys are under the View menu option

HT3728 what is the airport menu bar item in step 3?

in step 3 of the soft reset process for the time capsule it says open the airport menu bar item. What is that?

Help- What happened to my files?

I changed the name of the my computer (System Preferences>Sharing).
When I changed it back, most of my stuff is gone- calendar, itunes contents, mail, etc. It's almost like it's a new machine? Where did my stuff go? I didn't delete anything. Please help.

Changing your computer name in the Sharing preferences would not cause this to happen. I suspect that you may have also changed the short name on your home folder. It would be simple enough to change the folder name back and remove the new folder it created however you probably won't have permission to do so. Let me know if this seems to be what happened and I can explain how to fix it.

Help with Copy function in menu bar

I'm experimenting adding a cut utility to my app. I've added it to my menubar

ok, this is a total hack around the problem. But can anyone see why implementing a robot in my copy action wouldn't work: -
            java.awt.Robot myRobot = new java.awt.Robot();
            myRobot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_CONTROL);
            myRobot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_C);
            myRobot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_C);
            myRobot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_CONTROL);so rather than using the copy action itself, it imitates a ctrl-c key press.
I'm at work at the moment, so can't really try this out. But can anyone see why this 'wouldn't' work for copying JTable data.

How do I enable some scripts to run in some programs/websites and what happened to the status bar of my Mozilla Firefox 4?

Well, first of all, I was tying to create a web-based computer game in Notepad in H.T.M.L., C++, and JavaScript codes. But when I tried to open the completed product, Firefox only came up with a blank page. What do I do with this? And also, I unwittingly removed the "Status Bar" on the bottom side of my browser(the one that always says "Transferring data from/to..."), and when I tried to bring it back up, I couldn't because I don't know how, since I'm new to Mozilla Firefox 4. If you could help me with these problems, Then I would greatly appreciate it.

You can install the Status-4-Evar extension to regain some functionality from previous Firefox versions that was lost with the removal of the Status bar.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" after you have installed the Status-4-Evar extension and drag the items (Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status) upon the Add-ons Bar (View > Toolbars > [X] Add-on Bar)<br />
Also check the Options of Status-4-Evar in Firefox (or Tools) > Add-ons

Help with the spry horizontal menu bar

I am pretty new at this. I want to change the back ground
color of the bar. I did get one of the menu to change background
color. The other would not change color when I change them using
the CSS panel. Am I missing some SW or is there something special
that I need to do.

Welcome to darwin ...??? help what happened to osx

switched on my powerbook it did the normal thing but prior to loading login menu it switches to darwin/bsd (macintosh.local) (console)... i followed the promts and login, it welcomes me then i have no idea what to type to allow osx to load.
i have spent the last three hours searching the forum but nothing seems to help >safe mode just brings me bac to darwin >disk utility start up brings me to darwin> login menu brings me to darwin
disk utility responeded with no repairs nessesary
safemode brought me to the login menu with safemode in red but when i login it takes me to darwin
please help

you could try kappy's suggestion in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1333602&#1333602. don't know what else you can do. was hoping startup manager would do the trick. you could also just try booting to open firmware holding apple-option-o-f and then type in the following-
reset-nvram (hit return)
set-defaults (hit return)
reset-all (hit return)
the last command restarts the computer. that is of course if you can actually boot to open firmware. it is worth a try. good luck. oh another thing, i would maybe try pulling out your battery, waiting a bit, and then reseating it. could also help a bit. i don't know the pmu combo for your computer. if you do, you may want to give it a try. usually resetting the battery will do the equivalent though. [ 8 ) ]

What happened to the Scroll Bars in Adobe Reader 11.0.09

The help file (such as it is) says "Use the vertical scroll bars to move up and down the pages or the horizontal scroll bars to move across the page." BUT THERE AREN'T ANY SCROLL BARS. I have gone all through the menus and cannot find any way to display the scroll bars. They always used to be there when the page extended beyond the screen, but now they are gone. The alternative of trying to use the hand tool to grab and drag a page is awkward at best.
