HELP!  What server files can safely be deleted?

I think it is safe to delete C:\windows\tempdirectory
Can we safely delete C:\Program
Files\RoboEngine\Reserved\Web348881018
Thanks!

I do not know how server files are set up/deleted/added so
not sure exactly the process (using add/remove from control panel)
my engineers are taking - they are asking me, to save disk space,
if they can delete those old files.
Yesterday, through another source, I found out an entire set
of my 2007 project files might be stored on my server and will be
looking into that today also.
Thanks for the reply.

  • What log files can delete in RAC?

    Hi,
I have a little question, what log files can delete?
    $ORA_CRS_HOME/log/hostname/client ?
    And what others?
    Miguel

Some logs are automatically purged and some not: see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/rac.102/b14197/appsupport.htm#BEHJHGJD.
Trace files (.trc) that can be created in same directories are not purged automatically.

The older version of apple software update cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

  • Need Help-SOA 11g File Adapter unable to delete input file and its crashing

    Hi All
    Please find the details below:
    1. We have created a simple SOA composite to Read file from an input directory, archive the file in an archive directory using Inbound File Adapter Read
and then use Outbound File Adapter Write to move the file to a output directory.
    2. File Adapter needs to delete the file after successful read/retrieval.
    3. We are using the "Use Trigger File" for invoking the file adapter. This is a new feature in SOA 11g
    4. Also we are using the option of reading the file as an attachment as we are not doing any transformation in the composite
    Issue Details_
    1. When the trigger file is put in the input directory for the first time, the File Adapter reads the file, archives it and moves it to the output directory
    2. However it does not delete the input file from the input directory and raises Fatal Exception mentioned below:

    Hi,
Using the file adapter, you can poll from multilple locations...
Keep the following property in your .jca file
    <property name="DirectorySeparator" value="," />
While giving the path in File Adapter configuration, keep comma and give the next location....then the file will be picked up from the locations you gave....
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks,

  • Files can't be deleted b/c they're 'in use'

I'm being told that a couple of folders on another drive on my network, that I know aren't, are 'in use' and, thus, can't be deleted.
What's this from and how can I address it?
    TIA,
    David

If the OS is saying they're in use, they are. That message indicates that something on the boot drive is linked to the other disk or vice-versa. Quit all applications and try deleting again. If you get the same message, you'll have to track down what's open. One way is to launch the Terminal.app in /Applications/Utilities/, type in this command, hit the return key, and get the /dev/disk information for the attached disks:
    df -h
This is an example of what you should see:
    /dev/disk0s10 52162400 35274040 16888360 68% /Volumes/<name of other HD>
Then, enter this command, hit the return key, and peruse the output for the culprit(s) on that other drive:
    lsof /dev/disk0s10
The only thing that should be listed is something like this, but that shouldn't prevent the disk from unmounting.
    Finder 260 username 27r VDIR 14,20 68 425847 /Volumes/HD/.Trashes/501
If there are other processes and open files, you'll have to stop the processes. Launch Activity Monitor, check the process number that's running (in this example it's Finder w/process #260), select it, click on the Quit Process button, and click on the Quit button in the dialog box that pops up. Now, try deleting the folders.

  • Reason why file can't be deleted?

When I want to delete a file via
    file.delete()
the result is false. No IOException or other Exdeption just false. But what is the reason? When I try to delete the same file from another (simple test) application, i can delete the same file (result = true).
this happens for any new files in my directory. So, how can I find out the reason why the result is false and the file is not deleted?

yes, i'm pretty shure as i open the file to zip the
content to a new zip file, closing all the
input/output streams and then to a delete on the
original file. no exception, no error it just doesn't
get deleted and the return value is false. :-(
btw: the original file is not read only or something.
the files i want to zip are generated/copied on the
fly. and after processing, i want to zip them (which
works) and delete the original unzipped files (which
doesn't work).I know the feeling. But I'm pretty sure the file you want to delete isn't in the mood to getting deleted -:). Give it another try. Explicitly close is. Then delete it.

  • HELP: Yosemite server file sharing not working

    Yosemite server and OS.latest
I have followed all the steps:
    Set up DNS
    Set up OD Master
Added users one at a time, then added them to groups
Added shares in File Sharing and allocated groups to shares
Just in case, I propagated permissions from storage tab
    All relevant services turned on
Problem: when I test the logins from another local machine, either the credentials aren't recognised, or the only share is admin's drop folder; there should be 4 others.
Urgently need to get this running; what on earth can I have done wrong?
    Thanks

"Once credentials are submitted, the share is mounted without the need to select it - is this normal?"
yes , unless there are other shares as options.
"The share I need reports: drwxrwx---@ 22 admin  all-staff    748 16 Mar 14:38 Current Work, so that looks right."
only posix owner and group are allowed which is admin all-staff. Are these groups available in LDAP ?
really you should have something like
    drwxrwxr-x+ 12 root  admin  408 Mar 15 22:32 MyShare
that little + then allows other users or groups to access the filesystem.
do an " ls -le " to see more
    sample;
    drwxrwxr-x+ 12 root  admin  408 Mar 15 22:32 MyShare
    ls -le
    drwxrwxr-x+ 12 root  admin  408 Mar 15 22:32 MyShare
    0: user:_spotlight inherited allow list,search,file_inherit,directory_inherit
---- then I can allow other access rules.
Using the Gui in osx server I gave read/write access to the IT_dudes Group on the Share. *note the group is an active directory group from the NT Domain named BETH.
    This server is bound.
    drwxrwxr-x+ 12 root  admin  408 Mar 15 22:32 MyShare
    0: user:_spotlight inherited allow list,search,file_inherit,directory_inherit
    1: group:BETH\IT_Dudes allow list,add_file,search,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextat tr,writeextattr,readsecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit

  • What Garageband files can I delete when I only use Logic Pro?

My Mac's choc-full of Logic and GB files and I'd like to make some space.
I know Logic uses some GB loops, settings and other resources – and I may even have duplicates – but I don't know how to streamline it all.
Tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

In Logic, you can access GB's instruments, but you might not want them - so you can delete GB's Instrument Library (in HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand). Otherwise, there's not much to get rid of.
Look for duplicate loops here: HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops.

  • Pages '09 flat files can't be deleted but package files can

    Hi all
If I save Pages '09 files in their default 'flat' format, then I can't delete them (empty trash command says files still in use, even if computer restarted and Pages closed), but if I save files as '09 packages, they are easy to delete. Anyone else come across this, or got an explanation?

Thanks to people for suggestions. Oddly, I've found a very simple solution... if I leave the items in the Trash for a few minutes, sooner or later they become deletable (possibly helped if the computer not doing anything else). Other files are deletable from the moment they hit the trash can, so there's still something different about the pages files. I wonder if another app or process finds it hard to let them go, or some odd thing like that. So it's turning into a minor oddity/ quirk rather than major problem. I'm still a bit puzzled, but I can live with the current level of weirdness (unless it gets worse...!)

  • Help! Server Rebuild Can't Login!

So I successfully rebuilt my mac mini server. To download the Server app I had to upgrade to Yosemite.
All seemed fine, setup OD, I added the users, was tested ok. Then something happened, not sure what. Last thing I was trying was joining a client to the OD. Now I can't logon to the server! The local administrator account is no longer shown (know I can authenticate with the share using it), it won't accept any accounts, including the OD ones I setup. Just says other, click other then it asks for a username and password but nothing is accepted!
    Need help asap!

Ok stand down again, I was able to logon in safe mode using the "diradmin" account then create a new local admin which now works. The original one still doesn't and not sure why, but at least its working.
Not sure if theres some issue with Open Directory with having a local admin account called "administrator"?

My hard drive is in the process of crashing.  I"m grabbing my files quickly.  I'll likely pick up a SSD.  I"m doing research on how to rebuild/recover.
I can't read the COA sticker on the bottom.  Is there any way to get the code off my computer while it is still running?  What are my options?

    Hi:
Read this info, and use ABR to back up the OEM VLK key info and then you should be able to restore it on the new installation.

  • User Question: What Update Files Can I Dump?

My Windows XP PC has several iterations of updates of JTSE Runttime Environment on board, and I suspect I can dump all earlier than the latest (Update 10). That would mean clearing Updates 4, 6, and 9 off my hard drive. Can I safely do that with out affecting Java performance?

Once you have a copy of the DVD on your hard drive as a disk image, if you never need to re-edit the project you can throw out EVERYTHING if you like as you can create as many copies from the disk image as needed. The disk image is a completely stand alone copy.
