Help, what speeds am i willing to expect when (if)...

OK, I live in Hattersley mottram and infinity isn't in my area. After a quick phone call, it (appartently) is in febuary march, i am using a technicolor modem router atm (unlimited up to 8meg adsl postoffice) and only get a 2/5 bar on my laptop. on my xbox it flickers between 2/4 3/4 bars, will i get a constant 4 bar in game with wireless infinity? will i get a minimum of 3 bars on my laptop? how good is the wireless range? wired isnt an option 4 me. to far from router, not paying for powerline adapters as u can have problems and cost alot, not having massive wire looks messy. so i have to have everything wireless

Yes, you will only recieve up to 18mbps, you would need to move closer or try and get rid of some interface if you have any.
Also, how is your wireless setup, is the hub pointing out of the door in the room, is it near a radiator or microwave?
Is your Wireless Adapter placed in the best position it can maintain the best wireless signal that it can achieve?
I'm not sure about cod, I play cod4 myself and I use to get 30 ping on less than 1mbps connection while others where using the Internet.
You also have another solution for wireless, you could use powerline adapters.
Powerline Adapters work like this
You plug one into a wall socket beside your router (not extension, needs to be a main plug) you then connect ethernet from this powerline adapter that you've plugged into the wall beside your router into the router.
You then get another powerline adapter and plug it in upstairs and do the same with the etherner but instead of the router you plug it in your laptop(computer). These are a great alternative to wireless and work just as well as ether connecting directly, but this does depends on the condition on the wiring and the ring of the house electrics.

  • What information in Testcases will be affected when upgrading TFS 2010 to TFS2012?

    Hi,
As of now we are working on TFS2010. We have many testcases in MTM.
If we upgraded TFS to 2012, does the testcase ID will change?
I am new to Microsoft platform. It would be great if you share what others areas will be impacted?
    Regards,

    Hi,
The test case IDs are stored in database, and will not be changed during the upgrade progress. For TFS upgrading, you can refer to the upgrade guide in this

  • What format of regionName will be supported when setting session time zone?

    hi,
the following is from OracleConnection class
    public void setSessionTimeZone(java.lang.String regionName)
    throws java.sql.SQLException
    Set the session time zone.
This method is used to set the session time zone. This method must be invoked before accessing any TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE data. Upon invocation of this method, the Jdbc driver sets the session timezone of the connection adnd saves the session timezone so that any TSLTZ data accessed via Jdbc are adjusted using the session timezone.
    Parameters:
regionName - Oracle session time zone region name.
    Throws:
java.sql.SQLException - if an error occurred.
    Since:
    9i
    getSessionTimeZone
    public java.lang.String getSessionTimeZone()
Obtain Oracle session time zone region name.
    Returns:

  • What command will be executed when I schedule job via DB13

    Hi all,
How do I get what command(full syntax) will be executed when I schedule jobs via DB13?
    For example:
    - Action: REORG of Tables in Tablespace(s)
    - Tablespaces: "WI6#BTABD" is selected
    - "Use Temporary Tablespaces" is selected
I think this is a really basic question...
Could you give me some advice?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ikue

    Hi Ikue,
yes,  you won't see, what the 'REORG for all tablespaces is doing. But it's not really necessary. Its's simply always the same call
REORG TABLE <tabname> INDEX <primary key> ALLOW NO ACCESS
and optionally the addition  USE <tempspace>, if you have selected this option in DB13.  And it is called for each table that is located in the tablespace(s) which you have specified.
The 'REORG for set of tables' is quite new. It is available with Basis Support Package 7.0 SP12. Before there was only a job to Reorg a single table.
The REORG for flagged tables is a deprecated job.
If you want to know more about the various REORG jobs and when and how to use them, then you should look at note 431430

    my MBP specs:

    1. A 13" screen is awfully small to do any efficient editing. The 15" gives you significantly more on-screen real estate.
    2. All of the MacBook Pros can run FCE. However the graphics processor in the 13" model will limit some functionality with effects. See Tom's earlier comment.
    3. Not much difference. All these cpu's are fast. There will be more overall system performance gain from the quad core at the slower speed.
    4. FCE cannot use more than 4GB RAM anyway, so the 4GB that comes with every MBP is more than adequate. If you expect to use Aperture or CS5 then go for more RAM, otherwise there's not much reason to add RAM. You will be better off spending your money upgrading to the 7200rpm hard drive.
    5. Everything will be smaller on the high res screen; there are just more pixels (1680x1050) on the same 15.4" screen area. (I have a 15" MBP with the standard 1440x900 screen and it is beautiful.)

  • What speed can I expect?

    Hello there,
I recently brought the Infinity 2 package, which is due to be active on the 24th.
The speed is advertised upto 75mb.
What speed would I be looking at getting? I only manage 4mb with Sky and am someway from the exchange.
My friend gets 50mb and lives about a mile up the road, would I be getting there or there abouts?
I'd be delighted at anything over 20mb to be honest, but 50mb would be awesome.
The exchange i'm on is Langley Mill and I live in Heanor.
    Thanks.

  • How do you know what speed discs to use?

I experienced a problem backing up my iTunes library and found out it might be due to the DVDs that I was using. I have a G4 iMac running 10.3.9. It has a superdrive but I am not sure how to figure out what speed disc to use. Can anyone help? My 16X DVD-Rs aren't working and apparently 16X isn't what I should be using.
Finally, if 16X aren't right where do I get slower ones? Pretty much all I have seen are 16X.
    Thanks for your help!
    Jenn

If you are carefull and read the packaging, you will see that some will read that they will burn at 1X-2X-4X-8X or 16X.
One that comes to mind is the Maxell 16X DVD-R
Remember that not all media DVD's offer this feature, so take your time and read the package.
Here is a good guide for quality to use as well.

  • What brand DVD+R do you recomend and what speed for PE11?

I do not know why some brands like Memorex work with my PE11 and others like Sony do not.  I do not know what speed 8X the program can handle?  What are the pros and cons of using different speeds on results?

    Thanks for the follow up.
    As for
What kind of disc can I record on today and then add to it tomorrow with some additional footage?
You cannot do that with any burn to in Premiere Elements (any version).
    In Premiere Elements....
    1. The DVD-R allows for one burn to on the disc all at one time.
    2. The DVD-RW will allow you to use the disc again after a Premiere Elements burn to to it, but it will overwrite (erase) what was burned
to the disc in the prior session. No add on.
If you are in the Elements Organizer 11 and using one of its burn to data disc opportunities (See File Menu/"Copy/Move to Removalble Disc"), you could explore the multisession possibility by enabling the preference for multisession. (See Edit Menu/Preferences/Files and the option for "Enable Multisession Burning to CD/DVD.)
I would suggest that you look into the Premiere Elements Project Archiver feature where the project file (project.prel) is saved with its source media. This might be a consideration for add on chances.

  • What EBS performance gains can I expect moving non-x86 (sun?) to x86?

    Hi,
I was hoping some of you would please share any general performance gains you encountered by moving your EBS from non-x86 to x86. I'm familiar with the benchmarks from tpc.org and spec.org. The users however measure performance on how long it takes for a request to complete. For example, when we moved from our EBS from a two node sun E3500 (4*450 sparc II 8GB memory) to a two node v440 (4*1.28ghz sparc IIIi 8GB memory), performance doubled accross the board with a three year pay back.
I am trying to 'guesstimate' what performance increase we might encounter, if any, moving from sun sparc to x86. We'll be doing our first dev/test migration the first half of '08, but I thought I'd get a reading from all of you about what to expect.
Right now we're planning on going with a single-node, 6 cpu dual core 3Ghz x86, 16GB ram. The storage is external RAID 10. We process approximately 1000 payroll checks bi-weekly. Our 'Payroll Process' takes 30min to complete. Similarly, 'Deposit Advice' takes about 30min to complete. Our EBS database is a tiny 200GB, we have a mere 80 concurrent users, and we run HRMS, PAY, PA, GL, FA, AP, AR, PO, OTL, Discoverer.
Thanks for your feedback. These forums are great.

    Markus and David,
First let me thank you for your posts. :-).
    Markus:
Thank you for the tip. However, I usually do installations with a domain adm user. It does a lot of user switching, yes, but then it only switches to users created by SAPINST, that is most of the time it is switching to <sid>adm, which sounds perfect. At the time of my post I had been setting some environment variables so as to try to get the procedure to distribute the various pieces and bits (saparch, sapbackup, saptrace, origlogs and mirror logs, datafiles, etc. exactly where I wanted them and not where the procedure wants them) so I ended up by using <sid>adm to perform the DB instance installation and not the domain adm user I had installed CI with (I forgot to change back). When I noticed I figured it wouldn't make a difference since it usually switches to <sid>adm anyway. However, for the next attempts I settled on ny initially created dom adm user and no change to the results. OracleService<SID> usually logs on as a system account so the issue doesn't arise, I think.
    and
    David:
The brackets did it. Thank you so much. It went further and only crashed later, I don't usually potter around sdn, so I'm not familiar with the workings of this, I don't know how to reply separately to the posts and I don't know how to include a properly formatted post (I've seen the Plain Text help but I hate to bother with sidetrack details) so I apologize to all for the probably-too-compact jumble that will come out when I post this. I am now looking at the following problem (same migration to 64) so I fear I may have to close this post and get back with a new one if I can't solve this next issue.

What Speed can I run on my PowerBook G4 1.25GHz Matshita DVD-R UJ-816 drive?
Can I run above the 2x speed, say if I bought some TDK 16x DVD-R would they work. Please can anyone help me.

Be careful of the Verbatim 16 X DVD-R. I just made 14 Coasters before I got the correct answer from Pioneer who supplied the DVD 104 Super Drive on my Mac even though I installed an A227 firmware update.
They will not burn reliably on my g-4 mac when running Mac OS 10.4.5. I can not burn these DVDs using Toast 7.02.
I have no problem with HP 8X DVD-RW or DVD-R though.
I checked with Pioneer on this and they were helpful explaining the inability of that drive to handle that disk with the present firmware version.

  • I am writing to this forum to ask for help in determining whether Aperture will satisfy my needs when I switch from Windows to MAC in the near future.

I am writing to this forum to ask for help in determining whether Aperture will satisfy my needs when I switch from Windows to MAC in the near future.
I am currently using Photoshop Elements 8 on Windows 7.  After several years of use, I am self taught and adequately proficient for an amateur.  What I didn't realize (until I started researching my upcoming migration on the Internet) is that I actually use PE8 for two functions: digital asset management and digital editing.
Regarding Digital Asset Management: My research leads me to understand that PE on MAC does not provide the same level of organizational capability that I am used to having on Windows, instead providing Adobe's Bridge which does not look very robust.  Furthermore, iPhoto, which come on MAC will not support the hierarchical keyword tagging that I require to organize my library of photos. The two SW applications which I am thinking of switching to are either Aperture or Adobe's Lightroom.  Frankly, I'm thinking that it would be smoother to stay within the Apple product line.
So the remaining question is whether Aperture will support my digital editing needs. The tweaks that I do to my photos are not very complex (no, I do not want to put people's heads on other animal bodies).  But could someone who uses Aperture tell me whether It will allow me to do the following kinds of edits?:
    - If I have a photo where someone's face is too shadowed, can I lighten just that person's face, and leave the rest of the photo as-is?
    - if I have a photo where the background is cluttered (eg, 2 people in front of the Parthenon which is undergoing renovation), can I remove just the construction cranes?
    - Can it splice together several separate photos to give a panoramic?
If, once I get Aperture, I find that it cannot enable the kinds of editing that I do, I would probably get PE11 in the future. However, if people in this forum tell me that Aperture will definitely not  support the kinds of editing which I've described in the previous paragraph, I would prefer to get PE11 with my initial configuration (since someone will be helping me with my migration).
Thanks in advance for your consideration and help!

I am concerned, however,  about using a non-Apple Digital Asset Manager in OSX. I would really like to avoid integration problems. Is using PE11 to import and catalog my digital photos likely to cause conflicts?
Thanks for any insight on this
    Amy,
Not so much conflicts as maybe a little less seamless integration with Apple software and perhaps some third-party software providers in the Mac App Store where some programs build in direct access to iPhoto and Aperture libraries for getting images into those programs easily. Typically, there is a manual command to go to Finder (think Windows Explorer) to browse folders.
One caution to mention however, is that the organization you set-up in PE Organizer is unlikely to transfer over to either iPhoto or Aperture if you decide to change at some point.
The only real stumbling block that I see in your opening comment is that you want hierarchical keywording (Kirby or Léonie can go into the details on keywording limitations as I stay at one level). If you can work with the keywording schemes of either iPhoto or Aperture, then using PE for your external editor (either program supports setting an external editor) would probably be ideal since you know PE well. This is the idea with the Mac App Store version of PE (editor with no organizer).
Note - I use Photoshop CS6 (full version) with Aperture and it works really well. The only downside is that Aperture has to make either a TIFF or PSD file to send to an external editor so that the original file is protected by not sending it to the pixel editor. While TIFF or PSD files protect the integrity of the image information without degrading it, they are typically much larger file sizes on disk than either RAW or JPEG files. Therefore, your library size (iPhoto or Aperture) will balloon quite a bit if you send a lot of files to external editors.
One other possibility for an external editor would be a program called Pixelmator. It is pretty similar to early versions of Photoshop, but built for Mac. Other than the panoramics you want, it will do most pixel editing that PE can do. It is not an organizer, so it is built to go with either iPhoto or Aperture. It does have differences in how you complete certain procedures, so there is bit of a learning curve when you are used to doing it the Adobe way.
