Help! When I open Lightroom 4 , all my files are gone. It is exactly the way it was when I received it: empty. Nothing. Where are all my files gone?

I am a panic mode. All my work, from day is GONE from my lightroom 4' library. No keyword, no thumbnails, no catalogue, no nothing. Lightroom went virgin overnight. What happened? How could this be possible?
When I go to file, open catalogue it leads me to my desktop. I do have some files there, but this is not my library.
Please , I desparately need your help: several years of work there!

Hmmm. Relaunch iPhoto holding the option key, see if you have an alternate Library available here.
You can restore through Time Machine, or a boot clone.

How do you "Unsort" a column to get it back to the way it was when you opened it?
I like to sort by price or alphabetical etc but then I want to return the cells to where they were and I can't figure out a way to do that.
For instance, the rows that don't matter so much like the ones that just describe what date is the follow are now all together and I want it back the way it was when I opened the document without losing any changes I've met to other things in the doc since I sorted.
Can anyone help with this?

Adding to replies from Wayne and Barry. After you open that Numbers document, insert another column into a table before you sort it. The column can be anywhere in that table. Here is Column A (labelled "Original") that I inserted. It has numbers in sequence (1, 2, 3...)
As Barry said, these must be numbers, not the results of a formula.
Now you can sort by any column to your heart's delight and always go back to the original order by sorting that table by column A.

When I open emails with PDFs I click on the attachment (doing this all on my iPad) it gives me the option to "open in iBooks", I accept then after that the document is sucked into my iPad but I can't do anything with the PDF after that. Where is the actual file on my iPad? Why can't I email or send these PDFs to my cloud (Dropbox)?

I currently have 14,181 contacts that are on my computer, which an apple tech was nice enough to show me how to transfer all my contacts from my mac 2 "iCloud " account all though when ever I log into my "iCloud" account from a different web browser it still only shows 13,032. Meanwhile on my mac book pro, the "icloud" contact is still spinning like its trying to update the rest of the missing contacts. I have let the computer run for 2 days straight and still no progress. Is there a limit to how many contacts I store on "iCloud" I have upgraded to the extra 25 gigs per year. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it, because its also slowing down my mac book pro significantly causing it hard to do any other task on my computer....Any advice or help would be again greatly appreciated.

On the surface, it doesn't sound like you're reaching a limit in the number of contacts you can have.
I would first create a contacts archive (file >> export) for a backup. Then, go to system preferences >> icloud and uncheck contacts. Reboot. Return to those preferences and recheck contacts.
Also, review http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4489 just in case you have some contact cards that are reaching a different limitation.
