  • Where are an apps file permissions stored?

I have a LOB app that needs to access an internal network update servers Windows Share. However for that to work, the user has to first give permission via the file picker to that folder. That is inconvenient in a LOB scenario. Therefore I would like to
know if there is a way to mark certain folders accessible for an app via Group Policy or Regsistry key? Where are the apps permissions saved (and is the format open?) and could these permissions be modified by a plain old Win32 desktop app (running on an admin
    account).

    Hi Phil,
The Publishing Windows Store apps forum is for help with publishing your app to the Windows Store.
For help with enterprise configuration and deployment please post in the Windows 8.1 IT Pro forums on TechNet. For help with desktop development questions please post in the Windows Desktop Development forums.
Windows Store apps use the standard Windows security system with permissions are controlled by ACLs on the file objects. Breaking the app out of its app container by granting it access to new locations is not recommended or supported and may reduce
    the security of the system.
The right way for an enterprise app to break out of the app container is to write a
Brokered Windows Runtime Components for side-loaded Windows Store apps . This will allow the Windows Runtime app to call a component outside of its app container which can then call desktop API on the Runtime app's behalf.
Your app could hand the data files to the brokered Windows Runtime Component which could then drop it on the share. This wouldn't require either user interaction or reducing the security on the share.

  • Hi, i had backed up my data and then when i restored my phone with the restore backup option, all the photos, music where there but no apps. Al my apps are disappeared. Can you please tell me where are my apps backed up?

Hi, i had backed up my data and then when i restored my phone with the restore backup option, all the photos, music where there but no apps. Al my apps are disappeared. Can you please tell me where are my apps backed up?

Apps (like other synced media like music) are not included in the backup that iTunes makes. Thus, restoring from backup if the apps are not in the iTunes library there are no apps to restore to the iPod.
Redownload the apps into your iTunes library.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    And then restore from backup.
Make sure that in iTunes>Preferences>Devices the box that say "Prevent iPods..." is checked otherwise when you connect the iPod to the computer the previous backup (with your app data) might be overwritten.

  • Where are my apps?

I stupidly changed my password for my iPhone 4S 16GB using ios 7.0.4 but then forgot it! Luckily I restored it using my computer so it's now got the same password and wallpaper as when i last backed it up so at the end of restore I pressed the thing that makes it go back to the way it was but as I told you earlier it only gave my old password, wallpaper, my music, my photos, reminders everything on the apps from apple and the apple apps tht you cant delete! Where are all of my other apps which were bought from app store? I tried syncing but then it just says ...
" The iPhone “Gemma's iPhone” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 398.7 MB required)."
I understand that but right now I have none of my apps that were bought from the app store! How do I get them back?
P.S if you know how to lower down that MB so that I can sync please tell!

Your downloaded applications should show up towards the bottom of your main application screen.
Use your finger to scroll down. Tap and drag the screen up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where are my Apps from the cloud on iMac?

My son just got an iPod and I wanted to try to download my apps that are in the cloud to my IMac so the he can put them on his iPod.  BUT, when I hook up my phone like to sync and select APPs, I only see the Apps currently on my phone.  I can not see all the APPs in the cloud?
    Help....

Where are you looking ? The Apps part of your Mac's iTunes library will only show the apps that you have on your Mac - unlike the Music, Movies and TV Shows part of your library the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tickbox on the Store tab in iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) doesn't appear to work for apps.
You can redownload apps (if they are still in your country's store) on your Mac's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage
Or you can copy the apps that you have on your phone back from it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (that only copies the apps, not their content).

  • Help, where are the render preferences in Adobe Photoshop CS6

Okay, I admitt, .... I am an idiot that is new to Adobe Photoshop.
But help the new girl out, here.... Please...
Where are the render preferences in Adobe Photoshop Extended CS6.
I searched Adobe Help in Dutch already but they point me towards options that doesn't excist.
Maybe they were there in Adobe CS5 and I am reading an older version of the documentation...
But in CS6 I can only find the option Render and no Render Preferences...
    Thanks !!

Adobe changed the way video is rendered in CS6. Adobe Media Encoder in now used in CS6 only a subset of the Adobe's full Adobe Media Encoder is included in CS6 is a dll. I do not think you can add new Rendering Presets however you can change some setting when you use the supplied Reddening Presets.  Perhaps if you have the Adobe suite and have the full Adobe Media Encoder you can create some presets and add them to Photoshop Rendering presets.  I seem some compliants about CS6 Quicktime rendering presets lack the power of CS5.  The Rendering presets seem to be stored in sub folders in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Presets\Video\Adobe Media Encoder" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Video\Adobe Media Encoder"

  • Where are my apps in the new iTunes?

Where are they? When I connect my iPad it does'nt show up. How do I update apps if I can't find them.

In the upper left corner is a drop-down menu. There you can select the apps. To check for updates you have to use the button in the lower right corner.

  • Where are the App-signs for youtube, safari and appStore?

After updating to itunes 10 the app-signs for youtube, safari and appstore disappeared from the main menu on my ipod touch 3G (also updated). Where can I get them again?

Those are native apps and can't be deleted. Can you find them using the search function (left most Home screen). You can hide the YouTube and Safari apps in Settings>General>Restrictions but not for the App Store.
    Have you reset you iPod?

Is there any other software on the planet that requires this?????  I updated my firefox software a few weeks ago, got no message that bookmarks needed to be saved elsewhere prior to update, so I didn't back them up.  Guess what happened after the update...ALL MY BOOKMARKS WERE STILL THERE!!!
I can't believe that it was not stated more clearly that everything has to be backed up prior to a simple software update!!
Some of the apps were on my itunes, but none of the content nor the settings...so I'm basically starting from scratch.  All this for an update that is probably doesn't change anything anyway.
I maintain my initial message to anyone considering updating their apple device:
    CAUTION!!!! CAUTION!!!!!
WHEN YOU GET A MESSAGE THAT YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR APPLE DEVICE, SKIP IT UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO LOSE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ON IT AND START FROM SCRATCH.
All of your apps and other content should still be in your iTunes library from when you last synched your iPad. You may need to re-check under each tab to make sure that the content synchs again after the update. As I understand it, the update basically reformats the device.  The content *should* have been restored after the process was complete, but even if it wasn't, you still have not lost it.  It's on your computer, waiting to be re-synched.
Even if your apps somehow were lost from your computer, you can always re-download them for free from iTunes, just as you can for iTunes music. But I doubt that you have lost any content from your computer.

  • Where are installed apps kept on iphone 4?

I recently installed a TD Bank app that allows me to do online banking.  I can never seem to be able to find it without a great deal of searching.  How and where should this app show up on my phone?
    Thanks for your assistance.

It should be on one of the home screens or in a folder.
You can put it wherever you like.

  • Where are my apps? Post factory reset.

So I was having issues with my computer and decided to do a factory rest. Well i'm up and running now with Lion, but I'm finding things missing.  For one, I don't have iPhoto, and I'm sure a bunch of other apps.  Is this normal? I got the computer with Snow Leopard, and it had iPhoto.  Did the upgrade just keep iPhoto while people who got new computers with Lion not have iPhoto?  How do I get it back? Also, most of the desktop screen savers are gone.  I loved the abstract pictures and would have them rotate every five seconds, but they're not in settings anymore.  They're there in the screen saver section, but not the wallpaper... how do I get those back? Thanks for the help
Also, where is my applications folder that's normally to the right of the bar at the bottom!?

You will need to reinstall iPhoto from your iLife disk, or original install DVD, whichever way they came before the upgrade.
A new computer has these apps installed, iphoto imovie etc and they are a free bonus from the iLife collection,  but they are not contained in upgrades, either in the older retail upgrade DVDs or in this new model of downloading the OS.

  • Where are my apps in the purchased list in the app store?

I just bought a new ipod and transfered all the data from my old ipod to my new one. I logged into the app store but under the purchase list there are none of my apps that i downloaded on my old ipod. Please help!

Yes and yes....it turned out that after I restarted my iPod and then logged out and logged back in to the App Store that my whole purchase list came back. Thanks for your time though.

  • Where are utility apps which prevent need to fully restore unit?

Reading through various threads on this Forum turns up a disconcertingly high number of issues where apparently the only effective solution is a full restore of the system. While this may be a reasonable procedure early in the "life" of a phone when there are only a handful of apps and media stored on the unit, it becomes more and more impractical as storage is filled. Restoring 4GB, 8GB, or 12GB of apps/data is not a task to be undertaken lightly and a very time-intensive process.
I'm very glad that Apple is putting 8GB, 16GB and even higher capacity units out there, but it now becomes incumbent upon the company to develop utilities that can repair these kinds of problems without requiring a full restore of the system. That option invoked so frequently would never be tolerated in the desktop or laptop communities. Anyone for joining in lobbying Apple on this issue?
    Cheers, Christopher

Folks: I have no problem essentially with the content of either of these comments, and certainly not with the Randy's statement that it's the user's responsibility to back up all media and data.
However, even though it may be only a small fraction of users who are required to initiate the kind of full restore required to resolve some issues, it is a procedure recommended with far more frequency here than it is on equvalent boards for various PC problems. (This is truly not to start or engage in a PC vs. Mac flaming war. My only extensive experience happens to be with PC's so that's what I can report on with reasonable certainty; it in fact may well be true that Mac's require as few/fewer system restores than PC's, I simply don't know. [The fact that I've had to wade through as many PC Forums as I have is a sad testament that I've had more than my share of Windows problems which required extensive troubleshooting]).
And while the restore procedure seems to be relatively streamlined (though again, there do seem to be quite a number of reports where things don't go according to plan and users experience a pesky stall in mid-restore.) So yes, fully agree with W9FIF that the primary investment in a full restore is time--however that gets to be a heck of an investment when you're dealing with 8+GB of data/apps/media. I'm only suggesting that offering some diagnostic/repair utilities which can fix the kind of file marker/corruption issues that seem to be underlying cause of many of the restore-required incidents would be of considerable service to the commuity. (I have plenty of vitriol left for ATT on a vast array of problems they've managed to introduce - but this does not seem to be an issue that I can appropriately lay at their feet.).
    Peace and cheers, Christopher

  • System Restore --- Now where are those apps I bought that didn't sync?

    Main story:
Today, I went to sync my lil IPhone and it asked me if I wanted to install a new update. Well, thinking that this update would help everything, and make it faster, I accepted. When all is downloaded and it is half way into the install, I get an error without a number saying that "in order to connect to ITunes," I would need to do a complete Restore, without even syncing my IPhone to my computer.
((Went to the IStore nearest me, and they got the restore fixed))
However, here is the Main Problem:
I bought $$ some apps that show up on my history in my main account on apple... but I do not have these programs. I bet they are floating somewhere... but I rather need them and don't have a clue on getting them back after I restored my 3G to a nothing.
Funny thing is, the IPhone, mine at least, is less than 1 month old.
    Thank you for the help,
    Syl

I haven't had this problem, but sometimes there were apps I purchased and wanted them when I had no access to my computer. So I tried one and it gave a popup message saying "You have already purchased this item. To download it again for free, select ok" Now I cannot recall if they were synced to my computer before I did that, but you would figure when you buy apps you use the password so there is a record of on your account somewhere. Plus you should get emails saying you bought them, so you do own a copy of the app. If you can try a free one if you had any and see if it gives the same message, if it does then you should be able to download them again and get that message.
