HELP!! Where did all my original settings go

Hi I restarted my mac yesterday. When I logged back in, all my original settings were gone. I am able to find most my files, yet they do not know where to open at and some of my apps are not opening. I am really confused and read that it may be because I could have changed my home user name(which i did not). When I tried to fix this I changed it to another name and everything was gone so I set it back to the original user name and everything i still not fixed. It is the same as before.

Yes, changing the name of your home folder is a big mistake!

WOOHOO!!! i finaly fixed the problem. Here is what to do:
Chances are if you did the same thing as me you either have
A) No album names at all for ALL your songs in your library
or
B) Have the same name for every album for ALL your songs in your library.
Here is how to fix it (yah it will take a little work but its worth getting your iPod functioning properly).
Unless you dont want to have to go and actualy set al lthe album names for every song here is what you can do:
Go through to iTunes and arange your songs by Artist name. Click the top song for your first artist, hold Shift and click the last song for that same artist (to multi select all the songs for the artist) go into get info and check the Album box. Copy the name of the artist to the Album box and hit ok.
Now when u update your ipod and go into ur Artists section the actual Artist name should show up instead of the song names.
For some reason having the same album name for all your songs messes up the organization of the iPod.

Hi,
Change the print settings manually by clicking the lowest drop-down within the print dialog (e.g. the application name, Copies & Pages within MSOffice.
Select Type/Quality and set the print quality as Normal.
You may seve the settings as a Preset from the Presets drop-down menu.

Just downloaded compressor 4 from App Store...where are all my custom settings from Compressor 3 and will they work in compressor 4?

When you mount a partition to "/home" is "goes over top of" what is already there. Most likely your old user is underneath that old mount and can't be seen because the new mount is sitting on top of it. You could boot off the Arch ISO, make sure your new /home isn't mounted, and move your old user out of /home and then mount your new /home and copy the user onto that partition.

Today i logged into the forum after some time and it asked me to enter a new screen name since sun was organizing its profile database and I should have a screen Id different from my sun login when i did that and clicked save what I noticed was that my whole profile changed and now when I click my name it shows member since April 24, 2004 and total posts 1. While I have been a member since Jun 2000. Where did all the count of my posts and my duke dollars and all that stuff go? I REALLY HATE IT.

That album, My Photo Stream, is no longer used.
Instead, look in "Recently Added" within Albums, and also within Photos in the various timescale views. Both places should contain photos taken by any of your devices.

Help!! Where did all possible ringtones go?

Just checked today for songs available for ringtones and from over 100 before, i am now down to 3!! What happened? Where did they all go?

I have this problem, too. In 7.4.1 I had this problem, but when I upgraded to 7.4.2 the ringtone bells showed up again. The next day, the bells have disappeared again.
If you can remember the songs that can be made into ringtones then that will help because iTunes will still let you make them. Otherwise, it becomes trial and error. In the Store menu there is the option to "Create Ringtone..." when you have a song selected, and you can also get the option from the contextual menu that appears when you right-click on a song. Try it on a song and iTunes will then let you know whether you can or can't do it for that song.
I don't know why the bells have disappeared again. It seemed to have been fixed by the 7.4.2 update, but maybe it wasn't or maybe there's now a new problem because the bells are gone again. I hope they figure it out soon. I wonder if it has anything to do with the preference file...

i am trying to transfer my songs from my iPod onto a registered new laptop. i managed to transfer some of my old library by home network onto this new laptop, but not all of it transferred.
i tried following the instructions provided for tarnsferring music to a new computer but here's the gut-wrenchingly frustrating and convoluted trouble i am having: when i open my iPod from My Computer 1) there is no icon for iTunes. there is one for Music so i figured that was good enough. but, only a fraction of what is actually ON my iPod is in this folder. nonetheless, i transferred it anyway to My Music folder on my harddrive.
then i opened iTunes. i now have only songs i purchased from iTunes from the last month, and not - oh - 98% of my other music. where did it go? i can still see much of my music in My Music folder on my hard drive, but it doesn't show up in iTunes.
why is it so (multiple expletives) difficult to add music from my iPod into a pre-existing music folder on my laptop? if the computer is registered, why can't i see all my music in iTunes from any registered computer i own? what is the point of resgistering otherwise?

ah, this is cute. now that i dragged and dropped my other music into the iTunes library interface, and it has begun copying and coverting files (which i had already done quite some time ago), i no longer see music that i have purchased in the last two weeks on this very computer.
all i want is to have the music on my iPod put onto my computer, added to the music i have purchased on this computer.
why is this so difficult?

Where did the halftone screen settings go?

I've just downloaded Photoshop CS5 and am desperately seeking the halftone screen settings. It used to be in the print dialogue, but it's no more there. Where did it go? And yes, I have chosen a PostScript printer.

When Firefox asked me to update where did all my shortcuts that were on my desktop go? They were very important and I need them back!!!

Help, why did all my adobe products suddenly stopped working ????

im a photoshop and indesign user,
suddenly one day photoshop is freezing on open, and i cannot do any functions with it.... so eventually frustrated with it, i uninstall it and try to reinstall. however, i open creative suite and it tells me i need to update creative suite, so i do this. creative suite finds a problem half way and tells me it cannot complete the install.. after that i cant even find creative suite on my computer any more. it has vanished completely. i also notice that indesign isnt working.
so i go to the adobe website and try to re-download photoshop from my account history. and no matter how many times i click the download button, nothing happens !!!!!!
what the HECK IS GOING ON??? someone please help

You need to say what version of Photoshop and InDesign, and what Operating System you are using?
Did you deactivate before reinstalling (you may not have had the option if it was not working).

Where did all these calendars come from??

This is now my second post!
I have a Blackberry Storm, and when I sync'd my personal laptop (calendar, contacts, notes etc) I have suddenly noticed that the appointments are duplicated on my Blackberry - but in different colours!
I then found that I could select which calendar I was to disply - and when I select just one of them things are OK, but when I select all, I see the duplicate appointments again!
So, my questions are this:
Firstly, Although I have three email accounts set up in Outlook - I only use one calendar - so where did the other two come from?
Also, how can I delete ALL calendar entries and start again?
