Help where to place driver?

Hi all, I am new to macs in general and have downloaded "audacity" a program for recording music. To save it as an MP3 i need a driver to do that, the one the offer is lame_enc.dll. On the install guide here... http://www.zeropaid.com/news/7502/Howto+Rip+Music+FromMySpace it says that i need to save the .dll file to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and locate it there when the program asks. On a mac though I dont know where to save this driver. Thanks in advance! Any help would be appreciated as I am really lost. I managed to do this on windows, but cant figure it out on the mac, Audacity will work, just cant save to MP3 without the driver.

The good news is that I actually made it to work with no problems.
The step is as following:
1. Pick up the libmp3lame-osx-universal-3.97.zip from http://spaghetticode.org/lame/
2. Unzip the file.
3. You get a folder named libmp3lame-osx-universal-3.97. In this folder go to
package/usr/local/lib/
4. You will find the file libmp3lame.dylib. Move this file anywhere you please.
One good location may be somewhere your Library folder at your home folder.
5. Then start up the Audacity application.
6. Make a project, or open an existing project.
7. Go to the file menu. Select the menu item which export the project as MP3
8. You get a window where you are asked to name your new MP3 file and give your location of the new MP3 file. Click save in this window, when ready.
9. Then you get a window where you are asked to tell where the mp3lame library resides. Here you have two options. Either you get a window allowing you to click on the folders until you find libmp3lame.dylib. When you find this file open it. The other option is (as far I remember) to write the full name (path and filename) of the library. If you get it right this question will never be asked again later.
10. Then you are asked to file in some data about the mp3 file.
Then the Audacity application will make the mp3 file without any problems.
If you still have problems, please post again describing exactly what you are doing.

This depends on where your wccp router is located. The rule of thumb is to place the cache engine closest to the clients.If your wccp router is on the outside of the firewall and your CE is either on the inside or DMZ you would have to create a conduit for GRE and a static for translation for the CE. Keep in mind that by placing the CE on the inside or the dmz, there will be extra traffic going through the pix because of the wccp redirection.

CS6 64bit Illustrator - win, where to place scripts

HI all,
I just got CS6, and I can't figure out where to place all of my scripts. In CS4 version, once the scripts where in the correct folder, they would show up in the the scripts list,. In CS6, I have to keep finding them. Any help would be great.

Carlos - For me, the issue isn't installing the scripts in the Script menu. It's the fact that in CS6 Illustrator doesn't remember the location of the scripts when you use Cntrl+F12 or select "Other Scripts" from the scripts menu. It reverts to the root C: drive every time I try to get to my "other scripts". This is a new behavior in CS6, as CS5 always remembered the last folder location when selecting "Other Scripts".
I need to be able to hit "Cntrl+F12" and have it remember to load the last folder I used for scripts, so I we don't have to waste a ton of time browsing to the folder location just to run a "time-saving" script.
Anyone have any ideas with this?

I have a complaint about my mac book pro being slippery. Why do these expensive computers that we as consumers purchase if you set them on a couch slip off no matter where you place them on the couch?

Hi, my Mac Book Pro 15 inch lap top if i set it on the couch no matter where I place it slips off and luckily so far I have caught it before it falls onto the floor and gets ruined, of which I am super afraid of, due to what I initially paid for it as the consumer. Also, the couch is not made of slippery material at all. Also, when using it on my lap while watching tv, and multi tasking while doing my college homework, it even slides off of my lap at times. Why is it called a lap top then when it's not working as one? Are we to wear rubber pants that grip your products? Also, Why do you place on your Apple website that in one area a satin cover is available in the teal color, and then in another area it's discontinued? I believe it would be simpler if Apple would just remove the product all together from the purchasing website once any product becomes discontinued. Also, I was sitting here at home waiting for a reply about the satin cover in teal no longer being available period or that it has shipped, but yet I ended up calling Apple altogether myself and finding this all out that the only available color is the black. It would've been nice to have recieved an e-mail or a phone call on why it wasn't going to be shipped, or shipping instead of having to do customer services job and doing the leg work myself. Also, why is it that no one also even tells a consumer about the classes that were offered to a new consumer for 14 days after purchase of paying the $99.00s to learn about their macs of any kind? If I had known about such a program, I surely would've signed right up for it. Now I am being told that I can only take one clas at a time or something?!? I seriously wish I was told about this as a consumer of the Mac Book Pro 15 inch, because I would've purchased that offer right away, and now I am stuck and can no longer do it. Also I have had my computer since October of last year. So, I am in college as becoming a graphic designer within a degree of an Associates of Science and am now still struggling to learn the computer, and the programs I pruchased as well at the time of purchase, along with an Epson printer, the magic mouse, and the one year warranty. As for this all, I do believe that Apple needs to make a better bottom to the Mac Book Pro's within a much better quality for the price we pay as consumers, and all other lap tops and/or Notebooks in making them slide proof. The tiny rubber spots on the bottom of the lap tops or any Apple computer similar to mine just needs a better quality improvement to us consumers I spent good money on this purchase, I think now I deserve a rubberised protective cover for free for the slipperyness, and also since I was never told about the program for the classes of which a consumer was to pay $99.00s for, I think as a good paying quality consumer for Apple's products, I now deserve these classes for free as well.

it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

HELP: WD External Hard drive disconnecting by itself after Maverick OSX update.

I just finished updating my OSX from Mountain Lion 10.8 to Maverick 10.9
I am using 15 inch Macbook Pro late 2011 processor is i7 and 4GB memory.
Before on ML I'm rarely or never expirience this where my external drive is disconnecting
by itself. I am using USB hub (10 ports) I have 2 HD's both are 1TB and on that usb port
my cooling pad is also connected as well the data plug for iphone. My USB port has another
power cable which is also in use.
Now I have three questions
1) Do you think that one of my HD has an issue? because this is the only one
that is disconnecting by it self? when I unplug and plug it back it shows to Utility Disk
but it is not mounting. I manage to restore it by clicking the repair button several time
but it keeps disconnecting by itself and I am not comfortable on doing this time to time.
2) Do you think updating to Maverick is one of the reason why this is happening?
3) What solution i can do to solve this issue.

It seems my issue is already solved I didn't expirience any auto ejecting anymore after I formated my 1TB using the Disk Utility. I already bring back the files that I removed before from my 1TB and so far its all good.
Another tip is if you will plug your external HD's to a usb port give a one interval slot because if you do there's a possibility that it may auto eject again, this happen to me since updating to Maverick but in Mountain Lion maybe it happen to be once or thrice maybe because of bad ejecting that i've done to my 1TB.
This all is as per my intuition, observation and pure guts but now im good and my usb's are not auto ejecting anymore from the day I'd format it to disk utility using erase (of course in exfat format) until now. I wish this will help others too...

Our application use the thirdparty JDBC driver, for example, the JDBC driver for
mySQL. I donot want my customer to modify startWeblogic.cmd or some file else
to make the jar file available for the applicaiton.
my question is if some directory exists under weblogic700/server where I can place
the jar file(that is, like the installed extension of JDK or JRE).
I try to place the jar file on server/ext, it does not work.

in the CLASSPATH. The best place (IMO) for customisation of the CLASSPATH
is in the extEnv.sh. You will not find it in a standard installation of
WLS, but if you look in $WL_HOME/server/bin/startWLS.sh you will see this:

regardless of the setting PATH), so as part of my localised installation

Simple and fast solution: restore from your back up.
Other than that:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Help with new hard drive

Only a select few of us have found ourselves in this position. I am a student who takes his laptop to school for learning purposes however after doing a long night as the sound technician at a school show I put my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 13" 4GB RAM Intel Core i5) into my bag put it over my shoulder and started to walk when I felt like a sudden weight had been lifted off my back and I heard the most colossal bang as then I find that the bag has snapped and my MacBook Pro is on the floor. When I get home I hastily go and check it and I find that there is a sizable dent in the side of my laptop where the hard drive is, so I open it up the hard drive and the SATA connection are fine and my mac still works so I continue to take it to school when a couple of days ago it completely freezes up and refuses to do anything so I turn it off and wait till I get home and then boot it up and all I get is a white screen so I press command and R. I then get I dialogue saying "INTERNET RECOVERY PLEASE WAIT", I read up on internet recovery and find it means something has gone completely wrong with my system. My hard drive has broke. So I go to school and they give me a small 60 GB hard drive spinning at 3,200 RPM which gave me some time to look for anew hard drive online whilst I could still do work on my laptop. I then find a Seagate 1 TB SSHD for £70 on Amazon so I go for it. Now I have followed all the instructions on how to install the drive which is supposedly Mac compatible I then boot my MacBook Pro up holding command and r it then boots into internet recovery I then go to restore the system through Time Machine Back-Up to then find that the SSHD isn't recognized. So I take it out and put it in my now 12 Year Old Power Mac G5 and in registers fine I then formatted it to Mac OS X Extended Journaled and partition it as GUID Partition Map for Intel Macs. I re-insert it into my MacBook Pro and go through the process again however it is still not showing up.
My Question is...
Am I doing something wrong?
Or
Is it the Solid State Hybrid Drive?
I can't Plug the new hard drive in via a SATA to USB and install Mac OS X Yosemite and my files because the only medium that has all my files on is my External Hard drive for time machine back-up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

At least you are not erasing anything important!! Always worth reformatting a new HD in my opinion, Apple does not make the HDs so you never know what they may have been formatted as/with/on/by etc... Also if you take time to ZERO out any data (see security options button) you would identify/isolate any bad blocks before you start using (highly recommended). This would lead to far few problems later, as you know for sure you have a sound and working disk! Definitely NOT backwards! Just good sense.

Help Restoring New Hard Drive from Time Machine

To replace a failing Macintosh HD, I created an OS X Mountain Lion boot disk on a flash drive, put my new hard drive in a USB external dock, booted to the flash drive, partitioned and formatted the new drive (selecting GUID partition), and have tried and failed three times to restore from Time Machine, which is on a Firewire-connected drive. The error I get is that it's unable to create a restore disk.
I could reformat the new drive and try again, but is there something else I'm missing? For example, should I have left the new drive in the external dock, or should I move it to bay 1 and then try to restore, considering that latency is a possible issue or that Time Machine won't restore to a USB drive?

Why don't you install ML on it and then see?
Better yet use any of the 4 internal drive bays instead of USB - slow and terrrible place!
It does not matter where or what drive bay.
Unable to unmount drive.
CLONE your system - a couple times, pure Apple Mac OS once you have one and later for working copy and one before you install or apply updates or programs or otehr changes.
CCC carbon copy cloner - will create recovery partition when you clone a system.
I assume your flash drive works, not everyone is successful first shot.
I prefer a clean install to start with. Esp as you say your system was failing I don't like relying on the Time Machine for everything.

I m trying to install a new hd. I put the screws where there needed to go, plugged in all appropriate SATA plugs into new HD, went to dicl utility and no new HD shows up to initialize or format. Please help me .. I have purchased a 500 gb Seagate HD from ramjet.

I have installed and uninstalled the new HD about 5 times already. Please help me

On older ATA drives there are little plastic tabs that, depending on configuration, designate a drive as "Master" or "Slave." If both drives are configured as "master" it can sometimes cause one not to be seen by the computer.
I only mentioned it because:
A) I had it happen 2x with my old G4.
B) Most new drives are shipped with the jumpers in "master" position, I'm guessing because they assumed most people were replacing their primary drives, not adding them.

Help need for placement of firewalls at the core design

Hello all,
I am planning to implement edge and core firewalls in the datacenter. We have 2 core Nexus 7Ks which does layer 3 routing for core for our internal vlans. Our edge firewall are connected directly to Nexus core. This should provide the north to south traffic protection. All our servers are running on VMware installed on UCS. UCS is connected through nexus 5ks. Some standalone devices/servers are connected through 2ks. Most of the stuff is on vmware. I want to implement core firewalls but confused a little bit about where to place the firewalls in the network. Basic idea is to have seperation between the 3 tiers application, web and database for compliance and secuirty purposes. Basically while researching on the net I got 2 options to go,
1. Have 2 firewwall in active/standby connected to nexus5k at transparent mode and trunk all the vlan traffic which needs to be inspected.These will be different from the edge firewalls. This will be for east to west traffic.
2. Implement VSG and ASA1000v since both are complementary to each other and should have nexus 1000v to implement it.
Please help me to decide which way to go in terms of scaling the network.

To elaborate a bit, you may come across offers of a new/unopened/unregistered version, which is the simplest case (you would need a guarantee). Other cases require much detailed information (and a guarantee).
If upgrading to 10.6.8 or higher is an option, you could use CS6.

Of note there is a new AMD Catalyst Omega driver released earlier in the week that brings 5K resolution to AMD graphics cards. Here is the link (support.ad.com/en-us/download) to the AMD site. But none of these work with my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), Windows 8 bootcamp.
Please advise.

Display help where it cannot be seen

I am learning iWeb, so I am using the iWeb help alot. Each and every time, when I choose help, the help dialog box appears under the iWeb window, meaning I have to move the iWeb window around until the help is visible so I can click on it. Command ~ or command tab will not display it.
This makes no sense, to display help where it cannot be seen.
Am I missing some setting?

Bob ~ The default behavior appears to be that the Help window floats on top of other windows (see here), so I don't understand why yours is different.
Anyway, one speculative thing to try is deleting some relevant plist files. (You should have a backup of your system in case you don't like the result!)...
First quit iWeb and close its Help window and then navigate to your Home folder > Library > Preferences
...then look for these files:
com.apple.iweb.plist
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
Drag them to the Trash, start iWeb and see if that has made a difference.
