HELP! Which Sony DVDirect will work

I am an electronics dummy. PLEASE HELP!!
I am planning on buying a Sony DCR-SX44 Handycam. I want to be able to burn DVD's without a computer. There are 2 DVDirects available the VRD-P1 and the VRD-MC6. My questions are will either one work with this camcorder if so, is there any reason why I should by the more expensive. Also, what is the difference in DVD+R and DVD-R. Will my standard DVD player work for both?

Both of these drives should work fine for burning your video footage to a
DVD without being connected to a computer. The main difference between the two
is that the Sony VRD-MC6 has a 16x write speed, while the Sony VRD-P1 has a 6x write speed. From what I understand this would mean that a
typical movie will burn to a DVD on 6x drive in about 20-30 minutes,
while a drive that writes data at 16x could have a movie burned to a DVD in
5-10 minutes.
Another key difference is that the Sony VRD-MC6 can
burn data to a dual layer DVD which can hold up to 8.5 GB of information, while
the Sony VRD-P1 only records to normal DVDs that hold 4.7 GB of data. From what
I understand DVD+R and DVD-R discs are very close, and most DVD players will
play both kinds of discs (check the specifications of your DVD player to see
what type of discs it accepts). DVD-R is the older technology, and thus has a
greater compatibility with DVD players.
Whether or not the additional cost for the Sony VRD-MC6 is worth it really
depends on if you believe the faster write speed, and ability to record to dual
layer DVDs is important to you.

Which Sony TRV will work

Recently my Sony TRV 900 firewire port got damaged and will not connect to my imac running Leopard 10.5.8. Rather than an expensive repair job I want to purchase on ebay another Sony that I can just use as a permanently connected tape importer. TRV 22 - should work - Cheque that it has DV in and out.
I also use except TRV-900E use a SONY PC-330 and there are several PC-100 to 350
or may be more that works.
I use the DV-in to
• make backup tapes of important material and final versions of movie projects
• as a bridge to a TV so that I can see the editing result in real-time and full quality
Test Your Camera on another Mac with Mac OS X.3.9 or X.4.11 and also test new

Since I upgraded ilife 08, I cannot capture video from my Sony PC3 to iMovie 08, it keeps dropping out. I think it's time to get a new one, this one is old. I like Sony product, does HDRTG1 work with iMovie 08? Anyone? Thanks Alex

Hi, I am new to the digital age and over 55 years old. My husband bought me a Canon Rebel EOS T3 1100 D in July. (I fought the "technological" upgrade until my old Canon film camera quit on me.) I've been taking pictures since 1966, so I'm not new to photographing, just to our technological advances.

I've just received my 430EX II that I purchased for use with my Rebel T2i. The main reason I purchased the Canon product was....in 60 years of using Canon products I've never had a failure or a bad experience. I've been using the 430EX ll for a few days and I'm quite happy with the results. Far, far better than the built in flash. It's on sale now with free Fed X shipping. That's hard to beat.

Pretty much any of the SATA 3.0 Gbps drives.
Western Digital Black and Blue and Hitachi 7K drives are all good choices.
If you try a SATA 6.0 Gbps drive, it will need to be jumped to limit to SATA 3.0 Gbps.

That FAQ is merely the adobe official line. If you have a full version of PSE 6 for mac, it should work in 10.9, really.

I'm new to these forums and am wanting to get a webcam, but iSights are no longer available and I don't have the interest or money to get a DV Camcorder.
So which USB webcams will work with iChat?
I take it I'll also have to purchase iChatUSBcam or whatever it's called.

There will be full support for the G1X.2 in ACR 8.5, or so says the release notes for the ACR 8.5 release candidate at Adobe Labs; however, PSE11 stopped being updated last fall when PSE12 came out. It remains to be seen whether PSE12 will get the ACR 8.5 update sometime in June or July, or if you’d have to wait until PSE13 comes out in Sept/Oct.
The alternative is to use the free DNG Converter 8.5 to convert your raw files to DNG format, which will work in the older ACR plug-in in PSE11.
The DNG Converter 8.5 will eventually be available here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates however for now you can use the release candidate available, here: http://labs.adobe.com

[p7-1240] How can I tell which graphics cards will work with my motherboard?

I recently went through the nightmare of trying to install a Gigabyte GTX 650 in my PC. After a few days of struggling and scouring the internet for answers, I discovered that it is incompatible with the BIOS on my motherboard, and HP does not offer BIOS updates. I returned the card and am now looking for a new one, but I am unsure of which cards will work now, since my computer met all of the system requirements for the graphics card, and It stil ldid not work. Since GPU manufacturers do not list BIOS specs under system requirements, how can I tell if a graphics card will work with my sytem?
My computer is a p7-1240 with an upgraded 520W PSU and approximeately 11" of room to install the card.

Thexn, welcome to the forum.
The problem is, many of the newer video cards require the computer to have a full UEFI BIOS. HP began using one in mid-October, 2012. Before this date the BIOS is Legacy. This is why the video card didn't work with your computer.
I don't know what you want to spend for a card, but MSI makes a GTX 750ti that has a hybrid VBIOS. It has a switch to change to Legacy or UEFI. There is a video link directly below the picture of a card. Paul from Newegg gives a full description of the card.
I like EVGA cards the best. Their Tech Support has given me a lot of information about their cards. However, you have to go back to a GT 640 card to find one of their cards that doesn't require the UEFI BIOS. They do have some updates for their BIOS'es that solve the problem, but you have to call them for the exact cards.

An unlocked iPhone should do the trick. You need to get it in an Apple Store. I have traveled around the world with my British unlocked Iphone and I've had no problems switching between sims.

Which cd rom will work

I am looking for a used cd rom from ebay and was wandering how do I know which ones will work with my imac 400 ? I have looked at several of the slot loaders and they are from slot loading G3 imacs but will they work with any slot loading imac? here is the description " Slot Loading CDRW Drive CW-7121-B".

This is offered on the rather limited experience of having replaced two of them in 350 and 400 slot loading iMacs. It seems that anything that is a slot loading optical drive will work. If there is a choice of jumpering, set it to "Slave".

Which sata card will WORK! with a Mac G4 MDD Dual 1gb

I have a G4 dual 1gb and the OS is 10.4.11.
I want to put a sata card that will WORK, in this machine. I have tried an Acard 6293m, and it showed in the system profiler, but I couldn't see the hard drive. Is there ANYONE who has been successful with any sata card in this machine? Booting would be great but not necessary.

You're very welcome. The SATA/Raptor install made probably the biggest difference in performance of the many upgrades I have made to the MDD. The difference, while never quantified, was tremendously apparent on boot times and on apps (loaded on that drive) opening. I would not hesitate to make that investment again.
For what it's worth, as a frame of reference I bought the MDD second hand. Prior to that I had been using a QS933 since new. I was disappointed at the time I got the MDD in what I perceived as a performance difference (or lack thereof) between the QS933 and the MDD's Dual 1.25's. That upgrade was not as noticeable, to me, as was the SATA/Raptor combo. It was a couple hundred bucks well spent.

Which Logic Boards will work in a 1.25Ghz eMac?

I have a emac that has a possible bad logic board, it wont fully install OSX. I have tried several different versions with formating the drive everytime clean. I am just looking for a logic board now to replace out. I have seen some 1Ghz boards and wonder if that would fit in my 1.25Ghz machine.

The 1GHz board will install in your 1.25MHz machine. The main difference you will find is that you lose USB 2.0 because the 1GHz board has only USB 1.1. The other difference is that the 1GHz board uses 168 pin PC133 ram and not the PC2700 DDR 333MHz 184 pin ram.But apart from the obvious loss of processor speed everything else will work.

I'm new here and have already searched for solutions. I have P7-1240 Desktop purchased new in June 2012 with Jasmine MSI-MS-7778 motherboard, AMD A10-5700 quad core, 10 MB ram and Windows 7 64-bit. I'm trying to install a graphics board so my son can play some games that he currently must play on low resolution using the integrated graphics.
I updated my PSU to 600 watt Corsair and tried GTX 750 Ti and GTX-660 cards to no avail (the computer won't boot past HP splash screen). I've also tried AMD Radeon R7-265 card but couldn't even boot to the HP splash screen. As I understand, HP offers no BIOS updates for Windows 7 (I read here that one guy loaded a BIOS update for Windows 8 on his Windows 7 machine and it worked, but I am too chicken to try that).
I just want to put this issue to rest. So my question is simply this: Does anybody know of ANY graphics card series that will definitely work OUT-OF-THE-BOX in my machine with the stock BIOS and PCI-Exp 16 Gen 2 slot? I was going to try a GTX 500-series card next. But I wanted to get some advice first, since I won't be able to return it if it doesn't work.

Graphics card compatibility with the BIOS levels in PCs is not the only factor. PCI-E slot version compatibility both upwards and downwards would be another factor. Manufacturers will at times view standards differently and hence design their graphics cards to function differently compared to the same card being made by a different manufacturer. Manufacturers may also design graphics cards to only work with their motherboards. Bottom line is that not every graphics card will work in every PC.
