Help, which windows Service msut be on to run Adobe Bridge CS3?

hi all,
I'm having trouble opening Adobe Bridge CS3, theres a windows popup that says "Adobe Bridge has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message when i try to start.
I can run the other Adobe Cs3 applications fine, i've been playing around with the disabling of windows services to increase bootup time. i'm afraid i may have accidentally disabled something necessary
pls advice on how to get it working.. i'm on win xp pro sp2
thanks

When you get the "Bridge has encountered an error" popup box, check the technical info hyperlink to see what's the problem. It may point to a DLL that had an error.
From there, check the web to see what that DLL relates to, which may or may not give you a lead. Maybe something that needs to be running in WinXP, maybe a 3rd party product that needs to be fixed/removed/re-installed.
Why do I say this? I had the same issue on Bridge after getting the trial version. Worked for a while, then suddenly stopped working with the same startup dialog box and a quick shutdown. Digging a bit as above pointed to a DLL that was related to Quicktime. I went to the Apple site and downloaded/installed the latest version of Quicktime, and the Brige problem was cured.

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 crashes on load in my Windows 7 workstation.

Adobe Bridge CS3 crashes on load in my Windows 7 workstation.
I recently completely removed, deactivated and reinstalled all my Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Master Collection to solve some problems with other application from the suite and now I'm surprise Bridge continues to fail. In my portable workstation the same software (Bridge) uses to work.
I tried launching Bridge under several compatibility modes. All failed.
Is there any know bug I should be aware of? Any fix?
    Is this a common problem?

Curt Y. Thank you for your answer.
It was only Bridge who was crashing. It failed to load and Windows was giving an error message.
I tried your suggestion, and resetting all options in the reset window it now loads. It was as simple as that.

  • Which Windows OS should I chose to run Autocad/Revit?

I purchased a Mac Book Pro for my son in college (OS 10.5). He needs to run Autocad & Revit for his classes. We've decided to use boot camp instead of parallels or other options. My question is how do we know which windows OS to chose? I've heard Vista has had problems. is there a reason to use a professional version as opposed to standard? All help is appreciated. Steve.

If I was starting out, and new I had to run Windows natively...
    a) Vista has been out about two years
    b) there are issues with anything
    c) does Revit and Autocad recommend any hardware spec
I would have gotten a PC with Intel Core i7 920, 6GB DDR3 memory, high end graphics, and either Home Premium 64-bit or Ultimate. Price: $1300 plus cost of hard drive, graphics, and OS, that would plow through and flatten any work load.

  • I can't run adobe bridge cs6.  Weeks trying to get Adobe support - no help

I read something about people using cc being able to move a folder from common files to the bridge folder and that fixed their problem.  Not so lucky on my end.
It's been 4 weeks, something like the equivalent of 5 - 7 DAYS on hold, never reaching anyone who actually knew how to fix this.
I had cs6 properly installed for a couple of weeks on my win7 desktop and my win8 laptop (both 64 bit).  Then out of the blue, bridge just stopped working.
Although I've done everything I've been told -- uninstalled, run cc cleaner from adobe, reinstalled. Done that multiple times, and once through every folder on the computer to eliminate adobe stuff, then reinstalled and no luck.  Tried moving the folder, no luck.
Bridge won't even load - it just gives me an error message and there's no way I can load it.  Adobe insisted that I create a new admin and install PS and BR there.  It did work, but did not allow me to use my main login and run bridge.  So If I want to use bridge + a program other than a CS6 program, I couldn't do it.  No help whatsoever.
Please help.  I've gotten the case escalated, but adobe never calls or if they do call (they tried once or twice), they don't leave a phone number and they usually call outside the hours you suggest are the best for reaching you.  I keep having to start at the beginning, with the low level techies, and after several hours, I can get them to take my number and schedule a call with the escalation / senior team.
I want the CEO or someone to realize how badly they are abusing their "customers".  BUT right now I need to get some work done.  I don't want to invest the time to set colors for my monitor or do any customization because they'll just ask me to wipe it again anyway.

    Hi,
I don't know why there's a problem seeing the content of my original post, but I am logged into the forum, not using email.
When I try to launch bridge, I get an error message that says "Adobe Bridge CS6 stopped working" and the following details:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:          APPCRASH
      Application Name:          Bridge.exe
      Application Version:          5.0.0.399

      Fault Module Name:          Bridge.exe

      Exception Code:          c0000005
      Exception Offset:          000000000036ae49

      Additional Information 3:          ffe3
      Additional Information 4:          ffe33cae3dc9a74a841b6be78d093ff8
Of course, Bridge never actually launches.
As far as the fact that some setting on my computer is incorrect, I'd love to find that magic switch to fix it, but remember that this happened after Bridge was properly installed and working for a couple of weeks after my purchase, and it died on BOTH my win7 desktop and my win8 laptop.  Different OS, different hardware, both Dell and both 64 bit.
I've been very careful about having administrator privileges on both computers, and to my knowledge, I didn't install anything new between the time I installed CS6 and the time Bridge died.  I'm very slow to update windows, after it wiped my partition and nearly cost me all my data and photos...  I research like crazy, and I don't understand this.  But I use photoshop and illustrator in combination with other programs so I can't have a situation where I can't be logged in as me using bridge.
Please give me your thoughts - any hints are appreciated...  fyi - adobe low level phone tech support has been playing hold music for the last 194 minutes.
    Thanks!

The answer is it depends on which model of MacBook Pro you have. This article has a table that shows you which versions of Windows you can install.

  • Windows 2008 windows service cannot launch Adobe Reader

I created a windows service that receives pdf files in one folder and should print them opening adobe reader. In my PC with Windows 7 it works just fine but when the application is deployed in Windows 2008 R2 server then the windows service is not able to
    launch Adobe Reader.
I searched on Internet and I found that it might be related to the Session 0 used by the services.
I tried multiple possible solutions without success.
Thank you in advance for any support with this issue

    Hi,
Are there any related error messages logged?
If not, I suggest you use Process Monitor to find out why exactly Windows cannot launch Adobe Reader.

  • Which MSXP Services does FF Need? When Disabling Services; extentions, addons, themes stopped working

I disabled some Service in MS Windows XP Home SP3 cause my Internet only lagged in Windows.. So i unchecked everything i didnt need or use.. Windows works wonderfull, runs even faster than before.. Only my extentions, Add-Ons, Plugins and Themes stopped working except for one.. The spelling-checker.
So, my question is which Windows Service Process prob. disabled this when i shut down the services.. (By asking this i want an answer so i only need to enable 1-2 processes and not the dumb-ass answers where you advice to turn everything on again)
    PS.
Troubleshooting Information included but i didnt find any complaints there

Every time I must manully start DI RfcSvr program on windows. I want to know how to register it as a Windows service?
I try to run below command:

It successfully register the command to NT service but It can not start. The error message in Event Manager is:

  • Help withcalling Windows *.exe programs that require a Windows account

I am trying to use robocopy.exe (basically a better version of xcopy) to copy files from \\serverA\sahrename to \\serverB\\sharename from serverC running the java program. Here is my code:
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("robocopy \\\\serverA\\sharename \\\\serverb\\sharename *.*");This failes with an error code of 2(whatever that means). When I run the same command from the command line, it works fine.
robocpy.exe uses my login credentials to access the network share drives. The share drives are set up to give my user full access.
    So the question is...
Can I run a Java program as a Windows user? I can't install my program as a Windows service because I need to run the program on demand, and not all the time.
    Thanks!

I thought it was pretty clear that I was specificying a path: \\serverA\sharename This is a share path in Windows, and they do not have drive letters. Don't confuse a mapped drive with a share drive. A mapped drive is accessed using a drive letter such as Y:\dirname whereas a share is access by \\servername\sharename
This is from the robocopy doc
    Examples:
:: Copy files from one server to another
ROBOCOPY \\Server1\reports \\Server2\backup *.doc /S /NPAs you can see, the only path specified is a share path.
I did take the advice of the other posters, and reported that it made no difference with a drive letter, it still failed.
Yes, I do know that my path is correct, because , again, like I stated in my post, it works on the command line. The same exact command works on the command line.

  • Adobe Bridge overrides Windows Explorer functions?

Since installing Adobe Bridge CS3, I am unable to rename/copy/move folders within Windows explorer...If I want to do it, I have to use Bridge.
This is particularly annoying when new folders have to be renamed/copied/moved within OTHER programs. Example: I am processing a photo or piece of video in Nero or Quicktime and create a new folder to place the processed images/videos. I can not name that folder while within Nero or Quicktime nor can I rename it if I exit the program and use Windows Explorer. I HAVE to open BRIDGE and do it there....
    Help?

Perhaps it is something with NEro or Quicktime. Make sure they are both the latest version. There has been some conflicts with Quicktime and Bridge in previous QT updates.
I have Vista and have no problems with have not experienced any problems like you describe with Windows Explorer. I usually use WS rather than Bridge for deleting, copying, moving. I have experienced some problems with external drives and permissioning problems when using Bridge, but starting Bridge in administrative mode solved that. Right click on Bridge icon and choose "Run as Administrator".

  • Tutorial Resources for Adobe Bridge PS CS3 for Windows?

Can anyone provide links to some really good Adobe Bridge CS3 tutorials? I'd liked to find resources other than those found from within Bridge it's self. So far, my Google-ing hasn't produced the desired results. Thanks.

If you ASSIGN your monitor profile to an image already CONVERTED to sRGB in PS, it looks like Windows viewer. This is because Windows viewer is not color managed
If I understand you, then any sRGB image displayed on my monitor in a non-color-managed app will be more saturated and redder than it should be because its pixel values are being interpreted as if they were in my monitor's custom wider-than-sRGB colorspace when in fact they're not.  When displayed in PS, Photoshop "knows" that they're in sRGB and my monitor isn't, and adjusts accordingly.  Right?
Here are some shots from the MS Color control panel applet comparing my monitor's gamut (color shape) to sRGB (white/gray shape):
    From "below":
    From the side:
    From "above":
This explains why there's more red, but curiously I don't see the same effect in the green, which has an even wider gamut as shown below.  Maybe the green levels in this image aren't high enough to be shifted appreciably?

  • Please help me on installing OC4J as windows Service

    Hi, Guys:
Could anyone help me on installing OC4J service as a windows service in my computer? I always got the following error message when I tried to start OC4J service:
The Oracle BI: OC4J Service service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other servies or programs.
I am using Windows server 2008, service pack 1, 64 bit operating system.
OC4J has been successfully installed and I can see enterprise manager from http://localhost:8888/em.
I set envionment parameters as follows:
    ORACLE_HOME: C:\OC4J\oc4j_extended_101350
    JAVA_HOME: C:\java\JDK7u7 (I use jdk-7-windows-i586)
    J2EE_HOME: %ORACLE_HOME%\j2ee\home
and I run cmd as administrator, cd to javaservice subdirectory, use javaservices to install OC4J as follows:
    javaservice -install "Oracle BI: OC4J Service" "C:\java\JDK7u7\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll" -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xmx512m "-Djava.class.path=C:\OC4J\oc4j_extended_101350\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar" -start oracle.oc4j.loader.boot.BootStrap
I was told it is installed successfully. But I got the problem as I said before. It was strange though I did it on my local computer which is a windows7, service pack 1, 64 bit operating system successfully. I struggleed for 3 weeks with the same problem on my local PC and suddenly it worked without problem. I did not remember I changed anything. Is there anything that I missed?
    Any suggestion would be appreciated!
    Sam

Well, I added two lines in OC4J.cmd
    set ORACLE_HOME=C:\OC4J\oc4j_extended_101350
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\JAVA\JDK7u7
    before
    set J2EE_HOME=%ORACLE_HOME%\j2ee\home
and I restarted the windows. It looks try to run OC4J but failed, as I open services window, it shows OC4J is "stopping". When I try to run it manually, I got the same problem again. is there anything I missed? What is your OC4J, JDK and javaservice version?
