Help - white screen only!

Friends,
I'm faceing a totally annoying problem - the G4 worked fine until an hour ago, when I moved it to another room... Now at start the monitor only goes WHITE and... that's it. No restarts, no resets (PRAM, etc.) can help!!! I hear the starting chime, the fan works, etc, so I figure the tower works, but smth. is wrong with the display connection.
The Apple supprot page only comments "black screen"... and indicated problems with the video card... Mine works... or worked OK..
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

  • Appletv: downloaded but white screen only

Ive never had a problem renting films via appletv. I am trying to play two films, one completed download and one downloading in process. When I try to start film...white screen only.
The itunes store has no problem communicating on network as I can watch trailers, and stream content from my machines in network. But no love on playing my films!
    Help.

Apple TV - HD Movie Rental - White Screen:
    Short Answer -
Unplugging the Apple TV and then plugging it back in solved the problem.
    Long Answer -
Shortly after the HD movie I rented began downloading, I received the prompt that I could begin watching the movie, so I pressed play. All I saw was a white screen. I then waited until the movie was 100% downloaded and tried again. Same result. I deleted the rental and then re-rented it, which resulted in a second download and the same white screen as before. In between the two downloads, I tried watching some HD movie trailers and experienced no difficulties. I also tried the communication dis-association thing but that was not successful either. I finally unplugged the Apple TV power cord, let it power down, then plugged it back in. The HD movie played with no further problems.
It looks like PC users get the "blue screen of death" and Apple TV users get a white one.

  • White screen only..help

My 60GB iPod is only 4 days old. If I try to reset I can here the HD spin up, then blank white screen (no icons), then HD stops (spins down) and light shuts off! I thought maybe not enough power, when I connect it to the USB, XP freaks, I can hear the USB connect, disconnect, connect, etc. Finally settles on no connection (no connected devices in the tray).
    Anyone else see this problem?

  • HELP Please-Loud Alarm Beeps from iMac plus White Screen Only, Too

Hello, Cannot get to the home screen of my iMac - its just a white screen with the grey Apple logo and the spinning circle in a holding pattern.  I've tried turning it off and on several times but the home screen does not kick-in.
Whenever I get a message to install s/w, when the iMac turns itself off and restarts there is a really loud beeping alarm warning.  I turn it off, turn it back on and I get to the home screen - not this time.  Also it seems to happen with the iTunes s/w updates - they don't appear to install.
I'm a total noob with PC's.  Someone mentioned resetting RAM (whats that and how do you do it? (maybe applies to a Macbook and not an iMac  (what's that)
I'm lost - any guidance is appreciated.  Thanks

In Disk Utility, highlight your HD (the top one with the maker's name) and click on 'Repair Disk' on the right hand side. It's greyed out in my pic, but will be live when you boot from the DVD.
Also check that the S.M.A.R.T. status shows 'verified' (arrow). If all is OK, a message will appear in the window after the checks are complete:
If the message says that repairs have been carried out, run the repair again until the green OK message appears with no repairs indicated.
All we've done up to now is check as far as possible that the HD is OK, and that the problem really does appear to be with RAM.
As said above, it's rare for two RAM modules to go duff at the same time, so deeper investigation may be needed to ensure the Logic Board is OK, or that there's no loose connectors at the back of the RAM slots.

  • IMac 27' (year 2010 - Snow Leopard) won't boot - white screen only

    Hi,
my 2010 iMac 27in running Snow Leopard won't start - when I switch it on, I can hear the chime, the screen goes white and gets stuck at this (no Apple logo, no question mark, no mouse pointer). I have waited for minutes but it's definitely stuck.
When there is a DVD in (tried both OSX Instal and Apps Instal), I can hear the drive reading for a few seconds, then it goes silent.
I have found a few similar topics in this and other forums - the issue was solved or helped by entering one of the special boot modes via keyboard shortcuts upon startup. In my case though, none of these shortcuts work - with the sole exception of Cmd+Alt+P+R to reset the NVRAM. What I tried was: C, D, Alt, Eject, N, T, Shift, Cmd-V, Cmd-S ...none of them has any effect.
I learned there are some issues with a wireless keyboard when using these shortcuts, so I got a USB one to rule that out - but it didn't help.
In the beginning, I heard "clicking" noise I am not used to hearing - so I suspect a HDD failure but it would surprise me the machine would not indicate that in some better way than a blank white screen. The clicking then went away - could be after I did the NVRAM reset - not sure.
I also performed an SMC reset by unplugging the power cord for a while - no effect.
As per one recommendation, I tried NVRAM reset a few times in a row. Didn't help but, interestingly, I found that after 3 such resets, holding D will eject the DVD (without the 3 resets, "D" won't do it). Prior to that I had no way of getting the DVD out.
The computer was running fine before I switched it off for the night on the previous day. There was no system update, no change I am aware of.
The only thing beyond default is extra RAM but that has been there for months now without problems (and just to be super sure, I removed the modules but no effect).
At this point I have run out of ideas - any suggestions are very welcome.

  • When I turn on my apple ipod touch i get a white screen only why is this?

why is it when I turn on my apple ipod touch, I only get a white screen?

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
With 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Or if you are running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion, boot from the recovery partition (Command +R on boot) and use Disk Utility to repair your OS 10.7 or 10.8 partition.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • White screen only for updates

I have an IPad2.  When I go to updates (there are four waiting) I get a white screen with nothing on it.  No icons, no wording, nothing.  All the other bits at the bottom of the screen work, i.e. 'featured,' 'top charts,' etc.  I've shut down my IPad completely and re-started it but that didn't work.  I got close to the router to be sure I had the strongest signal and that didn't work.  I tried using celluar data as well.
    Ideas?

This is a problem that many users are experiencing now. Apple is working on a fix.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this, because you cant fix it. It is a workaround only.
Apps can always be updated in iTunes and then synced to your iPad. That is always an option.

    Hi,
If you haven't already, try restoring the iPod touch and setting it up as a new device as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3828.
The iPod will likely need service if the issue persists after restoring as new. You can get the iPod touch replaced by make a reservation with a Genius here: http://www.apple.com/ca/retail/geniusbar/.

  • Phone won't turn on, getting a blank white screen only

iPhone stopped working, just displaying a blank white screen when on

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone restarts, usually takes about 10 seconds of holding the two buttons. Try this several times to see if you can get the LCD working.

  • TS3274 ipad with white screen only after startup

Just downloaded/installed the latest ios for my iPad and will turn on but stop at a "white scren".  It is "stuck" at a white screen with no other functionality ???

    Tom-
Try resetting (rebooting) your iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow if it appears.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
