[Help] Windows 8.1 - Windows Update Cleanup not clearing

Hi guys,
I've been troubleshooting my MSI Laptop GE40 for quite awhile now, but I am just unable to find a solution online.
My laptop is running Windows 8.1, I was doing some cleaning up for my laptop using Disk Cleanup.
After running Disk Cleanup (With System Files), Windows Update files were showing 425mb. However, after checking it and it completed, it will still show 425mb if I run it again.
I've tried the following solutions from online, but it didn't work:
1. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
2. SFC /Scannow
3. ChkDisk
4. Microsoft FixIt (Windows update)
5. Disk Cleanup (Safe Mode / Administrator account)
It is quite annoying to have this issue surfacing, and the last thing I would do, is to reformat my laptop.

but it doesn't make sense that if the update is permanent, and not able to be removed, why is it appearing on the "Windows Update Cleanup"

We could use the TrustedInstaller.exe to clean up the update
To remove those update files, we need to start the TrustedInstaller by enabling something small, that isn't installed by default (like telnet):
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:TelnetClient
After the installation, TrustedInstaller will continue running waiting for 5-10 minutes to pass and for the machine to be "idle" and then start the scavenge routine. If "TrustedInstaller.exe" isn't running, it can be started with:
net start TrustedInstaller.
After scavenge, the entries under PendingRenames and PendingDeletes should be cleared.

Help - Logic 8.0.2 update does not install

The Logic 8.0.2 Update does not install on my machine. The installer goes through the motions very quickly and my Logic Pro app still indicates version 8.0.1. Logic node, Waveburner, etc. all seem to have updated to the .2 version. After not taking with Software Update, I downloaded the updater and that didn't work as well. I have also tried trashing the appropriate Receipt packages (though there was no Logic 8.0.2 receipt). Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks for your help, Erik. I just got off the phone with Apple support and the solution was dumber than dumb: somewhere along the line Logic Pro was renamed "Logic Pro 8" to distinguish it from ver. 7 still on my system. Renamed it "Logic Pro" and voila, the installer recognizes it!

Open this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109 print it from the computer and follow the steps there. You need to backup your data from the first device and then restore that to the new device.

Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 not available

I have a new Thinkpad 10 running Windows 8.1 Pro. I don't see an option to install Update 1 (available through Windows Store on my other Windows 8 laptops). I don't think that Update 1 has been installed since I don't see the power button on Start screen next to my user name. Using the Windows Update command doesn't work, says that all updates have been installed. How do I get Update 1? Thanks!

You won't see the power button on the Start Screen on any tablet that uses Connected Standby (aka InstantGo) - it's by Microsoft's design. So you will be running Update 1 if you are being told that all updates are installed.

Try the compatibility modes. if that doesn't work, then probably you will have toi run a virtualization software with Win XP and then run AI 9 from within that environment. It is, after all, ancient. already was, when XP was fresh...

If so you could still be facing permission difficulties. I would recommend logging in as a root user and trying to launch Photoshop in that account. If you are successful then your current user account still has compromised file permissions.

Help! After iOS 6 update "Account Not in This Store".

Hello.
After the recent iOS update, I decided to update some apps. However, when I attempted to update them, it says that the account is not valid for use in the Australian store and that I should switch to the New Zealand store before purchasing. Before the update, everything was working fine. My Apple ID says that I'm using the correct country, which is Australia. I have tried all the solutions that I have found in google: clicking on the Apple ID at the bottom of featured in the app store and by logging in and out. I have also done this in settings.
Do you guys have any other ideas to tackle this problem?

I was having the same problem and after applying a lot of solutions I've seen here none of them worked for me so what I did was to download the application (for iPad or iPhone) to my notebook and after that perform the synchronization between the notebook and the (iPad or iPhone) that updated the apps in the iPad without error message.

today i updated the songs on my ipod like usual then after i ejected it i went to listen to it but it said there were no songs in my ipod. then i plug it in to "add" the songs back in but it says "itunes cannot read the contents of ANGELAS IP. use the ipod software updater to restore the ipod to factory settings." what does this mean?! im technology challenged.

I'm using Win 8. I was looking at Programs, and saw that I had two versions of Firefox installed, 26 and 27.
I un-installed 26 (because I had 27), and then, when I went to launch FF, I got the error message: "Could not load XPCOM," and, it wanted to delete the Shortcut.
I did a System Restore - and that didn't fix it.
I downloaded the current version of FF, 27.0.1, installed over what had been Restored, and that fixed it.
Isn't it confusing to have more than one version of the browser installed?
3/18/14 I just installed 28.0, and see that 27.0.1 is there. 28.0 installed over 27.0.1 . . . Did 28.0 un-install 27.0.1, and just not accurately reflect this in the Registry?
If you installed over it, then the previous version has been replaced. If you're running the 32-bit version of Windows 8 and you have an English (US) version of Firefox, then the aforementioned registry key is the one you want to delete:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Mozilla Firefox 27.0.1 (x86 en-US)

10/20/14 I was not able to delete this in the Registry key, so I just de-installed / re-installed FF. I have not seen this with any other program. Please see screenshot.

You will have to do a clean reinstall of the current release.

It is best not to uninstall Firefox in cases like this, but removed the registry keys from no longer installed versions, either manually or via some registry cleaning software.
In some case the uninstall key isn't updated properly and multiple version show in the Windows Control Panel although only the most recent version is installed.

Why does the update list not clear after the app update with the new 7 system?

Can I clear the update list, it is getting full, from all the updates. It say open only when I do it is still there. Help please.

Easiest way to clear list is; go to settings>general>date and time and set date manually to a point at least one month in the future (I set mine to two months ahead) and then open App Store and check for updates. The list should now be clear. This is just an update history list. When finished just turn on auto date/time or set it back manually if you like and list should still be clear. If you do nothing the updated apps should start to drop off the list in about two to three weeks.

App store update does not clear after update applied

I just got my iphone not too long ago. I updated yesterday via iTunes the applications on my iphone. the app store still shows one of the apps, numbers as needing updating but the application is already updated. How do I clear this spurious flag that should not be there?

However this does point to a bug in the app store update feature. There should be some way to force a check of applications that updated but are still showing as needed in the app store.

Go to Apple System Profiler then Power. Tell us the stats that it says and what the condition is.
Have you calibrated? Charge and keep charged for 2 hours. Unplug from magsafe and run until it goes into deep sleep on its own. Leave in deep sleep for at least 5 hours. Plug in and charge fully and keep it there for two hours. That should give you better indications of time remaining. Your capacity honestly isn't that bad but my other suggestion is to turn off bluetooth and IR (security pref) if you aren't using them.
Also, install http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/ iStat Pro to see what kind of CPU, RAM, and battery use you are getting. You can also check what is taking up your CPU by going to activity monitor and clicking %CPU to sort by CPU use.
Last, if it is still being screwy reset the SMC by unplugging the magsafe, taking out the battery, and holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

If you experience the issue in one particular user account, the suggestions below may resolve the issue. Before proceeding, you'll need to make hidden files and folder visible in Windows using steps 1-5.
Remove iTunes Preference files. Some of the files that iTunes stores settings and preferences in may be unusable. iTunes saves its preferences in two folders. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The locations for the preference folders are:
c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes

Create a new iTunes Library.
