I've got a black MacBook2,1 2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo bought back in 06-07,
Not sure that helps with the problem, but it at least gives you an idea of the model...
I've been having a problem since last night where when I watch any sort of video (it started watching a DVD, but has continued now with even online videos) where the movie will start to skip and the audio will cut...
Along with that the audio jack on the side will flash it's red light (I've read of people having a problem with that being stuck 'on' as if head-phones were in, but never heard of a scenario like this)
I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose the problem,

Sorry I'm clueless. Just don't want to buy something that messes up my machine more than it already is.
The Crucial site appears to have recommended the correct spec 4gB RAM stick for your model. Please note that you will need to remove the existing sticks of RAM to install new, so you will need 2x4gB to get to 8gB.
When your model of computer was designed/built, it was tested with readily available 2x4gB (8gB). After release RAM retailers have tested it with higher amounts, and Apple didn't update their quoted specs.

Slow wireless connection 802.11n AEBS and Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro

I have three Macs all currently connected wirelessly to the new 802.11n AEBS.
Mac #1 - PowerMac G5
Mac #2 - 17" MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo
Mac #3 - 15" MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo
The wireless connection speed (when using the web browser) is fine for both Mac #1 and Mac #2 but noticable slower for Mac #3. All three Macs are sitting right next to each other. All three Mac are getting an excellent signal. All three Macs are running the same version of the OS. All three Macs have identical network setting (as far as I can tell).
When connecting Mac #3 to the AEBS via an ethernet cable, performance is good. I've also tried configuring the channel manually in the AEBS to channel #1 but this did not help (seemed to help others in a different thread). Additionally, I ran the 802.11n enabler and performance was bad both before and after its installation.
Any idea why the Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro would be performing differently?

Ok eveyone. I did some digging and was able to get the network speed back with my Core2Duo machine. I put the Airport Extreme into Bridged mode and connected the Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports, not the WAN port. Apparently the new base stations have a few issues that need to be worked out so I'd consider this a workaround. There should be no reason to have to do this. Good luck.

Replacing/Upgrading the 15" 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro HDD?

I was wondering if it is possible to replace the 15" 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro HDD from a 5400 RPM to a 7200 RPM. I plan on recording using Logic Pro so I will most likely need a faster hard drive. If so, what are some good, compatible hard drives to look into.

How can i get my Imac, running OSX 10.6.8 with a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, how can i get Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD studio pro 2 to run on it?

I just bought an IMAC running OSX 10.6.8 (not sure what flavor that is). The processor is 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (Late 2006). When i run Final Cut Pro 4 on it I get the following error.
                    "Configuration error
                       This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing
                                * AGP graphics Card"
If Final Cut Pro 4 doesn't run on my system, what version of Final Cut can I run on this as I am a filmmaker and really am comfortable with Final Cut Pro.
On the same note I also have DVD studio Pro 2 and that just quits without any message.

This is my first mac in a long time so i'm not sure about what this mac is as i didn't buy this from apple (ala Amazon). I'm a tad confused about the Intel/PowerPC thing. I do know the software version for sure, but the Intel/PowerPC is very confusing. I just need to find someone who would know about this question. It doesn't say G5 on this computer. Cleaning Fan on Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro

Hello:
I have seen good videos and documentation for opening up a Macbook Pro unibody to clean the fan, but I have a Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo (2007 or 2008 I believe) and I would like to clean the fan. Can someone point me to a good link that shows the correct screws to remove, screwdriver type required etc.?

Thanks, I had been looking around iFixit but somehow hadn't found that. I guess because it is under "R" for "right fan" and "L" for left fan. :-)
Kind of a dumb follow up. Since I am only blowing the fans with compressed air and not replacing them, is there any need to do step 10 here, or do you think I can make 9 the last step?:

I just applied an EFI firmware update to a intel core 2 duo macbook, now it won't boot up

After applying an EFI firmware update, the Macbook just spins the optical drive when I start it up! I didn't see any indication that the EFI firmware update had any problems, so I'm stumped!

And if you can't get in, you can't read the Boot Rom version…
I suspect the update may have been OK for the MB but not for the OS version.
Unfortunately I have no idea if it's even possible to roll back a firmware update, or to maybe install a later OS like 10.6 while it's in that condition.
Bigger guns than me needed here, I'm afraid.
