Help with a newsletter template

i am trying to do a newsletter and new to mac and having some issues with some things.
1) how do i change the picture? there is already a picture in the template newsletter, but i want to change it to one of my own.
2) when i create a text box how can i have it with a border? nothing fancy, just a black border like the other ones in the template.
3) how do i change the spacing of the letters? it was a style in the template, and i finally figured out how to change it to a regular text, but i want to use that option some where else.

A. By keeping your photos in iPhoto then at the top of Pages open Media then drag in your photo. Check the help file if you have further question on using Media or watch the Pages video at the Apple site.

A. Click on Inspector Graphic Inspector. Again first read the pages Help file.
3) how do i change the spacing of the letters? it was a style in the template, and i finally figured out how to change it to a regular text, but i want to use that option some where else.
A.In the Pages help file type Kern. If you didn't know to use Kern, then using letter spacing would have provided the same answer.

Some fonts, such as Zapfino and Hoefler, have advanced typography features, which let
you create different effects. If you are using a font in a text box that has different
typography effects available, you can change many of the effects in the Font submenu
of the Format menu. For example, you may be able to adjust the following:
Kern: Place characters closer together or farther apart...

Help with editing a template flash file..

FIRST OFF..please don't shoot the noobee..I know some folks
don't like the templates and I appreciate that.
I have done some reading but not a whole lot about Flash. I
certainly don't want to BUILD a flash (not yet), but want to edit
one that is included in a template. I only want to edit the header
that drops down. It says The Web STudio. I, for example, want it to
say Marks Studio.
Ok..the temp comes with Flash/non flash.
I open w/flash and have a 3 folders: flash, psd and html.
-flash folder has Images, fla doc and one flash html file
-PSD folder has 3 psd files
-html folder has flash folder, images folder, css file and
one single index.html file.
I opened the flash folder and found the image.jpg I wanted to
change to Marks studio.
I opend the PSD and found the slice that is the same as that,
then edited it like I want it in PSD, then saved to replace the old
image. top1. jpg
Still, it is the same ole one that came with the temp.
as I said, please don't shoot the noobe. I just wanna edit
the flash file.

Is there anyone who can help with Pages 5 templates?

I'm finding it frustrating to the point of despair using the newsletter template in Pages 5. I have turned to you, at this point, because the application has simply stopped working -- cursor clicks inside text/image boxes, moving text boxes and images, etc. Things are stuck.
Certain Pages 5 format features work well for the template, but there are no varied pre-formatted page-templates... I cannot cut/paste from previous template work done in Pages 09... and -- most frustrating of all -- I discover that the time spent on formatting, arranging images, cutting/pasting, etc, etc often is obliterated by software that willy-nilly changes my work. I just quit when an image I had placed at the top of the page became stuck overlaying text on the right side center of the page. And I do know how to use the Group / Ungroup / Lock feature!
Please: any advice for tutorial or...? Thank you! Nate

Pages 5 is what it is, a lobotomised version of Pages '09.
Use Pages '09 which should be in your Applications/iWork folder.

Need help with a flash template

I'm an action script novice, so I downloaded a cool Flash template to beef up a part of a project I'm working on.
That template rotates thumbnails of web sites in a 3D space.
When user clicks on them they launch a new web page.
What I did:
I substituted the web thumbnails with characters and each character has an swf (info on each character) that i would like to load when user clicks on that character. Now, this thumbnail swf is loaded into a holder within a main movie when user clicks on "The Sensetionals" of the main buttons (in that main movie).
What I want to do:
1. When user clicks on each charater, I would like that character's swf to load into the same holder as the thumbnail swf.
Then I would have a close button that will unloadmovie that character swf and load back the thumbnail swf.
2. In the thumbnail swf, i would like to see the names of each character when user rolls over them. It's in the original code now, and shows up when I test the thumbnail swf on its own, but it's not showing up when it plays inside holder of the main movie. AND it's under the shadow/reflections, not readable. So, I would like to see it show up AND on top of the reflections.

Press F1 inside Flash, this brings up Help. In the text box
at the side of Search - enter Multilingual Content.
This gives you a sample for using several languages.

Help with creating a template.

I'm in process of creating a survey, both with check boxes and also a narrative section. There are no templates for creating surveys (apart from an emplyee survey or assessment) and I've created a basic template. Issue I am having is how do I convert my text areas to fillable form? Example:
Unfavorable Favorable - how do I convert the numbers into check boxes?
1 2 3 4 5
I have that as text but can't figure out how to make it fillable. I've tried creating check boxes but they just aren't working out. Any way I can convert the existing text into a template that is fillable and so they can write in comments? Willing to send an email with attachement to if the explanation doesn't make sense.
Also, when I save the file it won't save so I can edit the layout, it just keeps as a PDF. Reco on how to save so I can edit later? Please advise.

Help with a database template - Desktop Product Inventory Template

Hello Developers,
I'm trying to develop a database to track purchase orders, supply levels, and supplies issued (with reports). I've been working with the MS Access template called "Desktop Product Inventory", but it has more functionality than I need (i.e. shipping,
sales, invoicing). This template is almost exactly what I'm looking for.
I've tried removing the fields I don't need, but I encounter errors everytime. Frustrated, I created a new database by studying and copying the format of the template. I have the general structure of the database setup with tabs, but I'm completly lost when
it comes to formatting/coding the database. I'm not sure what needs to be done in order to recreate the functionality from the original template.
Unfortunately, I must admit that Access is my least favorite and used MS application.
So, my questions are:
1.) Does anyone know of an "effective" way to edit the Desktop Product Inventory template and maintain functionality?
OR
2.) Would someone mind taking a look at my database and giving me feedback? It's essentially just the layout and what I want the database to show.
Any and all help is appreciated, thanks for reading!

The Microsoft template apps have a lot in them - which is why they are particularly difficult to modify by the novice - so don't feel bad.
A database that does Inventory, shipping, sales, invoicing - is going to be complicated inherently, and is really a matter of development familiarity and experience.

Hi guys i really need help with a newsletter set up

so my newsletter that i am having difficulty with is 4 pages with a 3 column and each page needs to have a headline and sub headline the problem i am having is creating enough space for the sub headline with enough room for the text i was wondering if anyone has a mock set up file that i could use to see where my margins are off by any help will be greatly appreciated. oh and the size is 8.5x11 mine just doesn't seem to look right.

I need to learn how to edit a simple Flash template and I
don't have ANY time to be messing around with it.

Help with check register template

I am using the check register template to track my business income and expenses. I edited the catagories sucessfully, added some sucessfully. My issue is that I added a Income category and it is totallng correctly. What I am trying to do in the total cell is subtract the total Expenses from the Income total. When I input the Total Income minus one of the expenses it adds it instead of subtracting it. I am trying to create a profit and loss cell. Thanks for your help.

I don't see why you'd need a new formula for each entry if your expenses are negative and your income is positive. But if your two-table solution works, stick with it.
In the spreadsheet I created, all numbers (expense and income) are positive. The sheet totals all figures by categories. Then all expense categories are subtracted from all income categories for profit/loss. That's a bit different from Number's template approach.
I'm reluctant to slide the speadsheet publicly. I did charge for it and it seems kind of unfair to him to now roll it out to free to the world. Besides, it's more of an accounting ledger .... there's no running balance as there would be for, say, a checkbook. The basic premise is, though, to create an intro sheet listing all income categories and all expense categories. Then make a sheet like a general ledger listing date, item, category (pulled dynamicly from the first sheet), and amount. Then a final sheet showing totals of each category for each month, in groups of 3 for quarters, and a final year-long summary.
There are several threads here on how to create a dynamic list. (That means that the items on the list, instead of being set at creation with the Inspector, are created and changed from elsewhere in your document; you change that list and all your lists are automatically changed as well.) Search on "dynamic lists" here and you should find them without any problem.

Need help with using cd templates

I'm very new to Photoshop and trying to figure out how to use and edit templates for a 2 panel cd insert and the Tray Card template (back cover of the cd). I want to just use pictures for the 2 panel but the Tray card needs to just have a color or design background with text. I seem to have gotten a project started using the tray card template but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get going with it and add a color background and I'm assuming I'll need to use the layers function? If anyone has any advice or can help me get started, I would really appreciate it!! Thanks!!

Help with publishing website templates and creating a menu please?

Hello, I’m new to this website and flash so please bear with me.
I have purchased a website template from istockphoto (example… http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=631369 ), which is easy to upload pictures on to, but i have a few questions...
I have now uploaded my images on to it, but please can you give me some advise on how to publish it on to the Internet? I have bought my own domain name but I don’t have a clue how to link it to this web template, and I can’t seem to find any specific information.
Also I want to create a menue with 8 different subject categories, each with a separate image gallery and I don’t know how to link them together and list them in a ‘home page’.
If you could give me some tips or a link to some information that would be fantastic!

First, after exporting your FLA to SWF, you have to embed it into an html page, then upload both html and swf to your host.

Please help! This is for a funeral! No time to waste! Need help with an AE template of a photo album.

I am using an AE template project of a photo album where I can just insert my own photos. There are about 6 "page" templates to choose from, each a little different. I used each 1 time. Now, I am attempting to use each page again. The new pics went in fine, but then I realized it also changed the pics in the 1st application of that page template. I tried renaming the 2nd use of the template, but it didn't work.

Are you duplicating footage or pre-comps. Highlighted the clip is meaningless. Assets in the composition panel are either footage or compositions. Footage can be stills, audio, or video. Sorry, but you're attempting to do something without any knowledge of how footage or comps work. If it's footage, then your workflow is flawed. You need to duplicate the layer in the Timeline and then replace the footage in the duplicate by holding down the Alt/Option key and dragging the new footage to the selected footage in the timeline. If it is a pre-comp then you have to add your new footage to the pre-comp, not the footage layer.
Here's what you should do, Show us the main composition timeline and a mini flow chart with the properties of your problem layers revealed. Just select them in the timeline and press the U key twice. Since there are millions of ways to create a slideshow we can't possibly know what to tell you to do without seeing the composition and the timeline and the flow chart. There are hundreds of slide show templates on the web, most from well meaning but inexperienced folks trying to improve their standing in the AE community. Most don't have sufficient documentation, and most that I've looked at are a real mess to customize. Without knowing exactly where you are starting from we have no idea what to suggest except that your workflow is wrong and you need to make sure that every layer in the project is unique.
If it were me and I had access to Lightroom or iPhoto I would throw the stills in one of those apps and generate a slide show, That will take about 10 minutes. Render that and then when that's done, either import it into Premiere Pro to add titles. Then, when that's done and I've covered myself for offering to produce the video, I would move into After Effects and try and figure out how to do more of a custom job. One more hint, if the Photos are all much larger than your HD comp then you should batch resize them. All still images in an After Effects composition should be at or near 100% scale at some point in the project, or if 3D layers not closer to the camera than the Zoom value of the camera. At no time should still images be sitting still in a composition with a scale value of more than about 130% or closer to the camera than 60% of the zoom value.

Need help with creating template. Changes are not going through to index.html page

Hi all,
I have an issue with my template that I am creating and also a question about creating template Regions (Repeating and Editable).
Somehow my changes to my index.dwt are not changing my index.html page.
Also my other question is: For my top navigation bar and left navigation bar links, do I need to select and define each individual button or link as Repeating/Editable Region? or can I just select the whole navigation bar (the one on the top) etc...
Below are my steps for creating my template...I am kinda fairly new to using DW and this is my first attempt to making a template following the DW tutorial CD that came with DW CS3.

-Open my index.html file
-File/save as template
-Save
-update links - yes
-Select Repeating and Editable Regions (I selected the whole top navigation bar and selected Repeating Region and Editable Region, same with the left side navigation links)
-File close all
-Open the index.dwt
-Save as and selected the index.html and chose to overide it..
When I make changes to my index.dwt it is not changing the index.html
I feel that I am missing some important steps here.....

Flash Site Template Help With Text

So I downloaded a flash template to use for my website... all I need are some editing of the texts, pictures, and some of those links. Here is the template:

My problem is I'm completely NEW at flash. I used to use FrongPage 2003 for my webdesign but I wanna use this for my new website (since it looks a lot better!) How do I edit the text fields? I can only seem to move the bar along the timeline to watch the animation, and see all the layers and item properties that none have anything with the text in them. And also the images as well, if I need to do anything special with those (within template link above you'll see they flash white for a second) and the main logo has some animation there. I have all the fonts required but I don't know if I also have to make the logo with those special white flashy lines like a GIF animator or if that's just some special affect within the template itself.
Now due to legal notices specified by the site I can't share the template with you but I'll attempt to answer any and all questions i can to see if I can get this all figured out so I can begin adding my own content to the site. Thanks in advance.

Doesn't look like there's an xml file for the text. Reading the template help index, and its saying some text might have complex coding for special effects and that I'd have to edit by the Library or something, so I'll try using that reference for now. I appreciate the help and I may come back if this can't help me lol
EDIT: It says I'm missing the font file "tahoma" mapped to _sans ....?? I have tahoma... as well as the main title logo isn't appearing in the .fla file anymore even though I got the correct font. I'm confused >.<
