Help with a Program I am writing!  Please!

Hello All,
This is my first post...I hope to find some answers to my program I am writing! A couple things first - I am 17, and have designed a comp. science class for myself to take while a senior in high school, since there was not one offered. My end of the 2nd term project is to write a program that encompasses the information I have learned about for the past two terms. I know the very basics, if that. Please help!
My program involves the simple dice throwing program, 'Dice Thrower' by Kevin Boone. The full text/program write out can be found at:

I am hoping to add a part to this program that basically tells the program if the dice show doubles, pop up a little GUI window that says "You are a Winner! You Got Doubles!"
I was thinking as I finished chapter 7 in my text book, that either an 'if/else' or 'switch' statement might be the right place to start.
Could someone please write me a start to the program text that I need to add to 'Dice Thrower', or explain what I need to do to get started! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

I know this seems like a lot of errors, but believe it or not, I actually had it up in the high teens and was able to fix some of them myself from going by previous examples, as well as looking things up in my text book.     I'm trying to write a program for a golf leader board. It currently accepts player names from an input file, and puts them inot an array. it also does the same thing with the hole details. The players are sorted into pairs. I can add scores to each player, and increment which hole they are on. I now need to do a par score (e.g. -1) based on the par of a hole, and the no of shots a player has played on that hole.
    I know that in order for anyone to help me with this, they will need to see the code i have already written. If you do think you can help me, either send me an email and i'll forward the code on, or post here asking for the code and i'll do the send it by email.

    The reason that i am asking for help, is not because i work for some one and am trying to steal their money, but because this is a college assignment, and i am not the greatest java programmer in the world.
    The reason why i haven't posted the code here is because it's over 500 lines long, and i reckon that may be a bit big to put in a message.
    As for the maths, i have no problem with the maths, i just can't code the flaming thing.
    If there is anyone who does think they can help and is willing to i would greatly appreciate it.

  • Help with Paint program.

    Hello. I am somewhat new to Java and I was recently assigned to do a simple paint program. I have had no trouble up until my class started getting into the graphical functions of Java. I need help with my program. I am supposed to start off with a program that draws lines and changes a minimum of 5 colors. We have said thousand times that mixing dif. brand/make/speed memories is a bad idea, most with this Mobo that is very picky about ram. If you want to avoid slowdown problems, stay with only one stick ( the better one ) until you can buy at same time in same store, 2 identical memories to replace the old one.

    By the way im using Ready to program for the programming.

    You can't really believe that his brother did this
    for him...I did miss that copyright line at the beginning when
    I first looked it over, but you know, if it had been
    his brother, I'd be kinda impressed. This wasn't a
    25 line program. It actually would have required
    SOME thought. I doubt my brother woulda done that
    for me (notwithstanding the fact that I wouldn't need
    help for that program, and my brother isn't a
    programmer).I originally missed the comments at the top but when I saw the complexity of what was written then I knew that it was too advanced for a beginner and I relooked through the code and saw the comments.

  • Help with basic program

    The program I am writing is supposed to ask the user to input a 4-digit Integer whose digits are not all the same, and then place the number in descending and ascending order, then subtract until the number 6174 is met.
    I'm very new with java but I can't seem to get my if statement to loop back until the condition I want is met.
    I know that a while statement will loop back, but when I tried that it just kept looping over and over again.
    Any help and tips for later on in my project will be great.

    On to a new question.
    I need to subtract the rearranged descending number by the ascending arranged number.
    I need to know how to place my rearranged digits in place of the original number and then subtract it.

    This is the homework my professor assigned for me.
    Assignment 2: Write a program that rolls two dice 1000 times, counting the number of box cars (two sixes) that occur, in object-oriented way. (In other words, do not make all your code in one main() method. Use classes and objects.) Use a overloaded constructors.
    I have to use two classes for it. One of is the Dice(Below), and the other would be the client

    I've gotten pretty far with this program thanks to all your help but I've got another question.
    My program so far has been able to display the result of rolling 2 six sided dice 1000 times. I've used Boxcars.java as my Client and Die.java as my overloaded constructor. Now I want to display the number of Boxcars(Double six)by rolling a six-sided die and a 20 sided die together.
    My question is would I code that in Boxcars.java or Die.java.

  • Help with Tree Program

    I'm having some problems with my program. It's a binary tree of names but they aren't organized in any particular order and names can repeat. I built the tree correctly but the problem comes in writing a method. I have to write method pathLength with parameters (Treenode, Person (object), and level (starts as 1) ) it returns the longest path from the TreeNode to the node containing the Person. My code seems to work for most of the names on the tree except for one or two and I can't see why. Here's my code:

  • Help with Recurrsion program

    I seem to be having a little problem with my program. In my main program, depending on which method comes first, the other methods wont work for example the way my main program is not, with occurance method before removeLetter method, the occurance method works fine, but my removeLetter meth won't remove the letter. But if i switch the two and have removeLetter first then it will remove the letter, but my occurance method will come back say the letter is not in the word even when it is...can someone help me?     Hey, guys, I need some help with configuring my 5.1 Soundworks Speaker System... I can't hear anything out of my rear and center speakers...CMSS is out of the question, as my Creative Audigy(LS?) is plugged in, but the Original CD installer says it's not... I have installed some kind of drivers(the original ones from the cd), but, still, my sound card is "invisible" to the Creative Installer...Please help,

    Yes, my Audigy is plugged in correctly... I had these stereo speakers and they worked fine, but the problem was the same! My drivers won't install via the "Installer"... I have the original CD and all that crap, and still nothing! I only placed the Soundcard where it should be, but I don't know if I need any more wires...My speakers are plugged in like in Creative's Surround Demo etc... I'm now using Win2000[No Service Pack](i used, and I think I will revert to, Windows XP[SP])...What I want to know is: Can I use anything other than CMSS? Is there anything that could make an Audigy LS and a Cambridge Soundworks DTT2200 get along fine? Oh, and I have an Abit motherboard... The model is not important, as my speakers, soundcard, motherboard and a hell lot more come from a guy who sold them...And they worked fine on his PC! The biggest problem is with the drivers... I use the first PCI slot for the soundcard and it kinda works.....Please help if you have any idea...
