Help with admi password

I have a mac so x 10.4.11. was given to me by a c-worker. they left the administrate password on the computer and forgot the password. I am unable to update or add my printer to the computer. How can I get the password off. Help!!!

Depending on the vintage, you might call Apple with the Serial# handy & see if they have replacement disks, but that depends on which OS it originally came with, if it came with 10.3 then that wouldn't help with 10.4.
You really need an Install disk to be legal & to do repairs on the HD, etc, so I'd ask if they have it.
But, there's another way in the meantime...

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

i have windows 7 home premium and have locked myself out of my computer and do not remember my administrator password and can not find it.
There are numerous options built into Windows to help you get out of this predicament:
Reboot the machine with your Windows Repair CD, then use System Restore to set Windows back by a few days (works only if you changed the password recently).
Log on under your spare admin account, then reset the password to your usual account (works only if you set up a spare admin account).
Log on as Administrator in Safe Mode, then reset the password to your usual account (the password is usually blank).
Insert your USB flash disk with the password keyfile (works only if you took the time to create such a keyfile).
Use the password hint (works only if you created a hint and if it is good enough to let you guess the password)
Check your paper records (works only if you jotted down the password somewhere)
Ask your friendly computer dealer to reset the password for you.

  • Help with a password field

I have a Flash site I'm working on that has a private login
area. The login is not meant to be high security, we just want to
limit access to current and potential clients who we give a
    password to.
    Here is the site in
    progress.
What I need help with is the client login window. The login
field is in a pop-up when you mouse over the word "client login."
The temp password is forumdemo. When you use the button after
typing in the password, everything is fine. But when you use the
enter key, it initiates the "incorrect' action every time, even if
    the password is correct.
This is driving me crazy because when I originally built the
login box as an entirely separate movie, the enter key worked fine.
If you want to see it working, just click on the "client login"
words rather than using the pop-up box.
The code is the same in both. The only difference is that the
password field, button and other elements are now a Movie Clip.
Anybody have any thoughts? The scripts are below; developed
with the help of people on this forum (thanks!).
Ignore everything else - the content is not finalized. The
final site will be our company website, with work samples and the
like, and the main page will include a working demonstration of
what we can do with Flash 8 and green screen video. We haven't
    finished that stuff yet.

I tried. it didn't quite do it.
I don't know how to trace the value of things, I'm still
lurnin', but what I did do, is replace the _root.password.text with
    all of the following
    _parent.password.text
    _parent.loginPopup.password.text
    _root.loginPopup.password.text
    _root.loginPopup.password
I'm sorry to say none of them fixed the problem, and I think
my problem is that I don't know what you mean by tracing the value.
Well, I know what you mean, but I don't know how to do it. I'll dig
into the documentation, but if you or anyone has an easy answer,
    I'll take it!
Thanks, I appreciate your help and all the help I've gotten
on this forum building that site.

  • HELP! I NEED HELP WITH MY PASSWORD

I RECENTLY PURCHASED MY IBOOK FROM AN INDUVIDUAL AND I CANT SET UP AN EMAIL ADDRESS OR ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE IT SAYS THAT MY PASSWORD IN INCORRECT.THE USERNAME THAT POPS UP IS MY NAME.I NEED TO FIND OUT HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THIS.ANY HELP? THANKS!

First off, all caps is considered shouting. Bad idea.
As for your actual question -- a bit more information is required. Do you need to change the password for your user account? Your user account is what you login to when you turn on your computer. It might be setup so you don't have to enter your username and password when you boot up. It is set this way if you can turn it on, and when it's done starting, you see a desktop and dock and can use your programs. On the other hand, you might have to enter your username (either by typing or clicking on your icon) and then your password. After doing that you will be at the desktop.
If you can't get to the desktop be, it means you aren't typing the password correctly. Passwords are case sensitive -- perhaps you just need to turn caps-lock off -- e.g., "PASSWORD" is not the same as "password" and if your password is set to something like the latter, typing the former will always fail. If you don't know the password, you can reset it by booting from the system install discs (put in system disc, hold down "c" while turning on the computer, ignore the open popup regarding installation, from the menu, choose the option for resetting the password, choose the user you wish to reset, and then enter a new password).
On the other hand, if you get to your desktop and can use programs, the above is not your problem. Instead, you are having a problem loging into your mail account because you don't know your password. In that case, your only option is to contact the mail service provider and ask for your password. That issue has nothing to do with your operating system.

  • Need some help with inputting passwords from Safari.

    Hello//
Running the latest version of OS X 10.7 on a late 2009 Mac Pro.  Whenever I go to a website and type in the required password I will get an error.  The password is not accepted.  If I go to the same website with Google Chrome and type in the same password it works.  Any ideas??  Everything worked fine before I upgraded to 10.7.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Help with Change Password 11.0.3/8.0.5

    Your help is greatly appreciated.
We have a requirement to change application end user passwords through an SQL connection. It is part of a password synchronization project. We will be making the SQL connection under "APPS" and wish to change the user passwords without knowing the old passwords. We do not intend to change the APPS user password just regular application user passwords.
We need to locate the user and then change the password for that user in the table FND_USER. The corresponding password columns are Encrypted_user_password, and Encrypted_foundation_password. From the literature both of these encrypted passwords are encrypted based off of the APPS user password.
    1. What function does that encryption properly?
    2. FNDCPASS is available in 11i, but can it be used on 11.0.3? Can anyone confirm it's use in 11.0.3, and if yes what components are necessary to get it to work properly.
    Thanks for your help

A couple of approaches and all involve a bit of work.
    Three steps:
Do the install of the 11.0.0 MSI at the command line
Then follow it with the 11.0.07 Updater MSP at the command line
Finally the 11.0.08 Security Patch MSP at the command line.
    AIP
Create the AIP from the three files above then then run the MSI from the command line.

  • Help with Bios Password Reset Service

I am trying to use the Bios Password Reset Service for Power On password and Hard Drive Password. The current setting in the Bios is "Enabled, In Progress". The Bios sidebar help tells me that in order to complete registration for this function to open the Create Recovery Media application and "follow instructions". I am lost, there is nothing there about the Password Reset Service. I have already created the Recovery disks and even a Rescue Media disk.
I have found that in the Client Security Solution application, under the advanced tab there is a "Setup Hardware Password Reset" function but it is greyed out!
Since this function is available for selection in Bios shouldn't I be able to use it?
I am using the Windows logon password recovery function in Client Security with no problems.
    Any ideas??
    Thank you!!
    Installed BIOS: 7LETC5WW (2.25-1.08) Release Date: 2009/01/08
    Client Security Solution version: 8.20.0023.00
PS. I don't want to circumvent any passwords, I just want to activate the Hardware Password Recovery function in case I ever need it.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    UPDATE:
In case anyone cares, I was finally able to figure out how to activate the Hardware Password Reset feature in my T61. Here is the solution, at least in my case:
1)Found the file in Program Files->Lenovo->Client Security Solution->HwPwReset.exe
2)Ran the file and followed the instructions
3)A "Secure Environment" was created in the hardrive and the laptop restarted
4)The laptop booted into the Secure Environment where I was asked to establish 3 security questions and answers.
5)The laptop restarted and the status of the Pasword Reset function in BIOS changed to Registered.
Now if I ever forget the Power-on or Hardrive passwords all I have to do is press F12 on boot-up, select Password Reset option, answer my security questions and voila, passwords are reset or removed. Very nice!
BTW, I called Lenovo technical support twice and after talking to 3 "techs" and one supervisor they had no clue on how to do this. Go figure!

  • Please, i need help with my password.

I seemed to have forgotten my password. I need it to install an app, but I dont know where to recover it. Can someone please help me with this? I am brand new to macs, so please could you make as simple as possible?

I'm glad it all worked out for you OK. Now you know two things.
First, the Help files in all the Apple apps are usually very helpful in understanding how everything works.
Second, you know to guard your Install DVDs (or Retail Mac OS X disks) well because anyone Mac knowledgeable can access your Mac with those disks.

  • Help with mail password that isn't mine

Ok, so I endlessly and majorly screwed up. I ave a sister/ friend who I got a MacBook Pro for from eBay after her iBook started giving her trouble. I did not register the used pro. First mistake. Set up her mail for her, along with everything else, but when I got to her birthday I went blank, couldn't get ahold of her, so I faked it. Bad, bad mistake, but I've never had a computer failure before! Never! So screw up # 2. The other question I knew. The requirements for password changed to include a number and a capital letter, so we had to change it. Screw up #3, I did not put it somewhere on my computer, so if she lost it, at least someone had it.
Well, her computer went after 3 months. We did not back it up.
I called Apple, and they were really nice. When the lower level guy couldn't help he kicked me upstairs( where I had to go through this whole story again), and after a lot of back and forth, and me being able to prove that she had been on my account when MobileMe existed, I thought we had it figured out. I had to call back as I had gone once too often to try and figure it out and there was a lock on the account, and after the 2nd call, thought we had it fixed. They would send me an email with a link to reset.
Never got the email. Now there's a question about the computer number ( which I gave the day before), and even though I had them correct the birthday, and knew the 2nd question, it appears they will not send me the link for her. I was going t&o lend her my iPad until she got a new computer so she could get her email. I think they sent the password link to her account that she can't access. Brilliant.
So now what? Does anyone have any ideas? We think we found the right password, but it won't take. Her e-mail is the same as the name of her beloved farm, and she doesn't want to change it, p Lu's how does she get her back email anyway? Yeah, this is on mu iPad. I get sloppy typing on this thing....
    Thank you for reading.
    Oops3
    Sue Lang

You're welcome, but I really haven't done anything yet.
If you restore to factory settings and set up the iPad as new that should solve this problem. But there is something that you should be aware of first. If this was setup with somebody else's Apple ID and their iCloud account is on the device, when you erase the device, you will not be able to activate it again without their Apple ID nd password because of the iOS 7 Activation Lock.
You should probably read this now.
iCloud: Activation Lock - Apple Support
And please bear in mind that I am guessing that someone else may have owned the iPad previously. I can't think of any reason why somebody else's information would be on the device.

  • Help with iPad2 password

When trying to fix a problem with my iPad2 not connecting to my wifi....I went to reset and touched reset all settings.  Now when I get to the part that says to type in my password....it says that it is an incorrect password for "2wire916".  I typed in the same password that I always use.  Would I have a different password for that....and if so, where in the world would I find it?  I would appreciate any help that I can get with this!

If you can't find it, you'll have to go into the router and reset the WEP.

  • Need help with administrator password for first use??

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a dummy question. I just installed BI EE, then I was trying to open a sample Repository file, it asked me for password for Administrator account. I entered SADMIN as I found from the HELP (attached below), it didn't work; then I left it blank, it didn't work, then I tried any password I used during the installation, none of them worked.
Hopefully I can get some insight here.
Thank and have a good day.

    ====================
About the Oracle BI Administrator Account
The Oracle BI Administrator account (user ID of Administrator) is a default user account in every Oracle BI repository. This is a permanent account. It cannot be deleted or modified other than to change the password and logging level. It is designed to perform all administrative tasks in a repository, such as importing physical schemas, creating business models, and creating users and groups.
NOTE: The Oracle BI Administrator account is not the same as the Windows NT and Windows 2000 Administrator account. The administrative privileges granted to this account function only within the Oracle BI Server environment.
When you create a new repository, the Oracle BI Administrator account is created automatically and has no password assigned to it. You should assign a password for the Oracle BI Administrator account as soon as you create the repository. The Oracle BI Administrator account created during the installation of the Oracle BI repository, that is, the repository shipped with Oracle BI, has the default password SADMIN.
The Oracle BI Administrator account belongs to the Administrators group by default and cannot be deleted from it. The person logged on using the Oracle BI Administrator user ID or any member of the Oracle BI Administrators group has permissions to change anything in the repository. Any query issued from the Oracle BI Administrator account has complete access to the data; no restrictions apply to any objects.

    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.
