Help with Adobe Flash Player Installation

I need help.  I have tried several time to download Adobe Flash Player to my computer.  But when I get to about the 50% point of the installation I get a message that says "Please close the following programs to continue.....and a small box appears with the words "internet explorer".  I make sure that I am not on the internet (close internet explorer by clicking the X in upper right corner), and then hit the RETRY button....but the same message keeps appearing.  What do I need to do to at this point so I can complete the installation?  Even though I know that the internet is not open...what can I  do to make sure that Internet Explorer is not open?

You need to close all iexplore.exe instances; use the Task Manager's Processes tab.

    1. Restart your computer to stop any Adobe process that is running.
    2. Click on the following Adobe  link. Go to the bottom where it says "Still having problems?". Click on the version of Flash Player for your browser.

Hi eg, If you have Windows 7 the new one, then you have IE8 since it comes with it. We are only working on this one computer, right?
First of all you must be the Administrator in order to Install Flash Player, are you? You need to use that account.
Download this Flash Player Uninstaller to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download this Flash Player Installer for Internet Explorer to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Close all browsers, you only want to be looking at your Desktop. Check your system tray(the area by the clock) and disable any applications like messenger, etc. You don't want any applications there that use Flash.
Run the Uninstaller and when it is finished, restart your computer. Wait until it is completely restarted, then restart it again. When it is completely restarted, then Run the Installer. When that is finished, restart Once.
Then go to this site to test :http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

  • Help with Adobe Flash Player 12 IE 8.1 64 Bit

I am having a problem with the Adobe Flash Player 12 for IE 8.1 64 bit. I have tried it with You Tube videos and still not working properly. Can anyone assist me?

Flash Player for IE on Windows 8 & 8.1 is mebedded by Microsoft.
    You can't:
    Download it
    Update it
    Upgrade it
    Repair it
    Uninstall it
    from here.
It can ONLY be updated via Windows Update.
IE11 is another can of worms.
Microsoft intentionally screwed up the "user-Agent Strings", which websites use to identify the browser and provide the proper content for it. Since the pages can't recognize the browser, they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Issues with Adobe Flash Player installation

My computer said I needed to update Adobe Flash Player, so I did and it says that I have it in my programs, but when I try to look at stuff on the internet it still keeps saying that I don't have it or need to update. I have been trying to fix this for the last 3 days, uninstalling and reinstalling and doing everything your website said to fix it. It still isn't working. I've done all the manage add-ons and enabling scripts things you said to do and nothing works. Please help! My daughter likes to play games and watch videos on here and we do everything on this computer, never had a problem until the last several days. This computer is fairly new, 64-bit using Windows 7. Do I need to have the flash player plug-in also if I already have Flash Player 11?

    CATTLYNN wrote:

Meaning Shockwave Flash object is enabled?
Check if ActiveX Filter is enabled; it needs to be disabled.
P.S. you only need the plugin for other browsers than IE (e.g. Firefox).

  • Need help with Adobe Flash Player

Youtube and several other websites can still identify that my flash player is up to date. Although, many websites including CNN, Aplia, and Southparkstudios do not recognize my flash player. I tried trouble shooting, reseting my axtiveX filter, updating my computers graphic card, ad enabling my flash player. I am currently using a windows 8 computer, but my flahs player does not work in the metro IE, desktop IE, chrome, or firefox. I recently installed Norton Antivirus, and I question if there is any possibility that it could of corrupted my flash player...but troubleshootig with Norton Antivirus was not successful either. So, I guess my question is how do I get my Flash Player to work sufficiently to my needs? I would really appreciate some advice on how to get my flash player to work on all websites.
    Thank you for your time
    - Jim

Accrding to your post, you're dealing with three separate Flash Plugins.
    1. ActiveX - for IE, (embedded by Microsoft - can't be updated or repaired from any file here - functions independently of the other two plugins)
    2. Flash Player standard plugin - for Firefox (functions independently of the other two plugins)
    3. "PepperFlash" - for Chrome (embedded in the browser by Google - like ActiveX, it can't be updated or repaired from any file here. Like The others, it functions independently of the other two)
Usually when something is causing the exact same problem with all three different plugins (two of which have been modified by second parties)... it's outside of the browsers.
First, I'd recommend creating a new (admin) account and try installing/running the Flash Player under that account. If it works, then it's an issue with your account. If not, it's either in the OS or another app, like your Norton.

  • Question on Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 12.0 r0

Okay, I have windows 7 home premium 32bit installed on a dell vostro 400. I'm using 2 browsers, Internet explorer 11 and Firefox the latest version.  I have found that an installation of a plug-in and an activeX extension work in internet explorer and It's really confusing as to which one is for which sometimes.
I need someone to to help me with Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 12.0 r0.  It's causing some problems for web browser based email clients and slows down almost to a hault then won't close at all after it crashes.
Is there any way I can clean & fix Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 12.0 r0 with out removing flash cookies when using internet explorer?
Is there any way I can have firefox block flash play from playing anything?

First, there are two Flash Players for Windows (three if you count Chrome's PepperFlash plug-in)
ActiveX is for IE - IE needs it because it uses 1993 ActiveX controls for security, which is not really secure at all, and complicates everything you do with IE.
Tha standard plug-in is for Firefox, Opera, Safari and several other lesser known browsers like Maxthon and Seamonkey.
If you use IE and another browser, you nee both, and they both need to be up to date. As Imentioned Chrome has its own which updates through the browser.
To make sure you're up to date for both, download the following:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Flash Player Uninstaller
    Also, download these:
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
Shockwave Player 112 FULL installer (ther browsers)
You'll need to install Shockwave with the FULL installer for IE too, but there isn't a direct download for it. You'll need to go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ using IE AFTER everything else is done.
Save all the files and close your browser.
Run the uninstallers first (both of them)
    Go to: C/Windows/System32
    Delete the Macromed folder.
Open your Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key + R and type 'regedit' [minus the quotes] and click OK)
In the Registry Editor, go to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
Delete the Macromedia folder (Right click and choose "Delete").
    Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder there too.
Close the Registry Editor and empty your recycle bin.
Run the Flash Player installers, and then the Shockwave FULL installer you downloaded.
Lastly, open IE and go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ to download and install the Shockwave FULL installer for ActiveX (IE).
For Firefox, I recommend FlashBlock (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/) It's prevent ANY Flash content from loading until you allow it manually. It can get to be a pain, but you eventually get used to it.

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 11.2.r202 has encountered a problem and needs to close

Seems that with the last 3 or 4 Flash Player updates, once the update is complete but before the installer actually exits, I get an error message box telling me that "Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 11.2.r202 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.", etc., etc., etc.  I've received this error message numerous times as most of the computers I work on are Windows XP SP3 (all updates) with Internet Explorer 8 as the browser, including my own computer and my wife's.  If I could copy & paste the details, I would.  But the temp file that's supposed to be created for error reporting purposes, isn't, and I'm not going to spend the next half an hour transcribing all the technical details.  I just want you to be aware there's a problem with your installer.       -kd5150-

I'm sorry you are running into this crash.  To help investigate the problem, we'll need you to do a few things for us.
First, add the following line to the file mms.cfg (open in Notepad)
    SilentAutoUpdateVerboseLogging=1
You can find the mms.cfg file here:
    xp, vista, and windows 7 32bit: c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\mms.cfg
    windows 7 64bit: c:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash\mms.cfg
Next, we'll want to get a crash dump so we can see what's going wrong.  You can enable crash logging on Windows Vista or 7 using the following steps:
Download the following files: Enable Crash Logging.reg and Disable Crash Logging.reg.
Double-click the Enable Crash Logging.reg file. Click Yes in the Registry Editor dialog.
    Restart your computer.
    Let the updater/installer crash occur
After the crash, open a file browser window and type the following in the navigation bar:%localappdata%
    Go to the CrashDump folder.
Select the most recent file that appears with the extension .dmp.
Double-click the Disable Crash Logging.reg file downloaded in Step 1 and click OK.
    Restart your computer.
Zip up the .dmp file and mail it (or a dropbox link) to [email protected] with a link to this thread.
    For XP, follow these steps:
Show hidden files.  For more details, see the instructions for Windows XP.
Repeat the steps that resulted in the installer crash
After the crash, open the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson
Locate the file named with the extension .dmp that corresponds with the correct date and time
Zip up the .dmp file and mail it (or a dropbox link) to [email protected] with a link to this thread.
In addition to the .dmp, please post or send me your Flash Installation.log.
Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on Windows?

  • I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0

I need to uninstall Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0 but have looked everywhere for how to do this & can not find out how to do this can someone please help? I am using A Sony Vaio, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, I use Chrome Version 36.0.1985.143 m.
I want to get it off of my system because ever since I installed it I have had problems with Chrome loading it does not want to load then if I restart my comptuter & I click on chrome  5 windows open up at one time a white box appears saying "Your profile can not be used because it is from a newer browser version of google chrome. Some features may be available. Please specify a different profile directory  or use a different version of chrome" then if you click ok it shuts all the windows down. I have figured a way to get one window to stay open so I can use chrome, now I do have other browser I can use but I do not like them  at all & do not have a flash player since mine is built in with Chrome. So on to the other problem that began as soon as I downloaded this & I understand it may not be this but I still want to get it off of my computer. I also have been having trouble with my flash player error messages: saying it has stopped working constantly, it says upgrade flash text, a plug in shock wave flash isn't responding then in (stop plug in) it wants you to hit.  I have run 3 different Mallware programs through my computer just in case that was one question that was going to be ask. No other programs jave been downloaded wither.
I am not very good with computers so I have to come to places like this for help & I really have to have help explaining what to do because  do not know much about computers other then getting on them & surfing the web & some basic things. When chromes message said specify a different profile directory that went right over m head. So that should give you an idea where I am coming from. I want to thank you in advance & hope I have made sense in what I have written I tried to give all the information that I could.

Your screenshot of task manager clarifies things.
When I replied, I had been looking at the screenshot of the desktop from the original poster, which shows the uninstaller executable and it's properties.  That executable doesn't install anything -- it can just be dragged to the trash; however, that didn't completely align with the behaviors either of you were describing, and we've been trying to figure out what you were talking about.  It wasn't making a lot of sense to me, and it's not a question that I've seen come up before, at least not articulated this way.
FlashUtil32_XX_XX_XX_XX.exe is the sandbox broker for Internet Explorer.  You can read more about the sandbox work here: Flash Player Security with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10
The description listed in Task Manager is a bug, and the source of the confusion.  We've been doing a lot of work modernizing our build systems, and this is fallout from that work. This is something I'd like to see cleaned up, but it's pretty low on the list of priorities.
The broker service is invoked when Internet Explorer is running in Protected Mode.  On my Windows 7 machine running IE 10, running Flash content in Internet Explorer with Protected Mode enabled causes the broker service to be invoked (this is probably true for previous versions as well, but I didn't test them).  If I disable Protected Mode and restart Internet Explorer, the broker is not invoked, which is expected.
To disable Protected Mode, launch Internet Explorer and choose security.  Uncheck Enable Protected Mode.  Internet Explorer will restart, and you should be able to verify that the broker is no longer invoked when loading content with Flash Player.
I've included a screenshot showing the expected processes in both scenarios below.  As the Flash Player ActiveX control is loaded into an Internet Explorer process, you'll see the child explorer.exe process listed, which hosts the Flash ActiveX control in the process list.
Sandboxing the Flash Player plug-in is an important security mitigation intended to increase the cost of successfully developing and deploying malware.  While it's not a panacea, it significantly raises the bar for attackers.  As I'm sure you've read in the news and trade literature, the threat landscape has evolved significantly over the last few years, and modern security threats and their mitigations are a necessary reality.  New mitigations typically come with some additional processing overhead.  The overhead varies based on the architectural choices made by the particular browser vendors, but the overhead in IE is pretty reasonable.
We haven't published a blog post specific to IE, but if you're interested in the implementation details, the sandbox architecture is similar to what we did with Protected Mode for Firefox on Windows.  The Flash Player process that handles untrusted content runs at Low Integrity, which restricts access to critical system resources in the event that you encounter malware designed to take control of the Flash Player process.  Access to system resources is negotiated through a Medium Integrity broker process.  Without Protected Mode, the Flash Player process handling untrusted content runs at Medium Integrity, making it easier for malware to escalate privileges from a hijacked process.  Depending on the functionality in play, a lot of message-passing can take place between IE, the broker and Flash Player.  We've effectively doubled the number of messages that get passed, plus put a bunch of validation checks in, and all of that consumes CPU.  It also makes your web browsing activity more secure.
Some desktop applications (Yahoo Messenger, for example) also use the ActiveX version of Flash Player installed on your machine.  This could explain why you see Flash Player and the broker invoked unexpectedly.  We're also aware of an issue on Vista where the broker doesn't always exit as expected.  In that instance (and on WinXP), I'd highly recommend that people use Google Chrome for web browsing, as Google has extended some security mitigations that would only be available to Internet Explorer users running in newer versions of Windows, and it doesn't suffer from this specific issue with the broker.

  • Adobe Flash Player installer/uninstaller 10.1 r82 AND 102 has stopped working

    Hi there,
First time I've used these forums and I am a bit computer illiterate, so apologies if I come across a bit stupid!
I am using the following systems:
Windows Vista (32 bits I think)
    IE 7
    Adobe / Flash v 10.1.82.76
I was trying to install iTunes on the weekend and was having trouble, so Apple suggested I delete my Local Temp Files and all Apple apps, which I did.
Since then, when I try to access most internet sites, I encounter the following error message:
'Adobe Flash Player installer/uninstaller 10.1 r82 has stopped working'.  I have the option of getting Windows to check the problem or closing the problem, whichever option I select I just go round and round in circles as it keeps coming back to the same error message. As a result, I can't access most websites as the page just freezes and I eventually have to close IE.
I understand this to be a common problem as I've done a few google searches and have come across others with the same problem and have tried various solutions without success.
    I have tried to download Adobe uninstaller (via another PC and saving it on to disk and then onto my desktop), but when I try to run this as administrator I get the following message;
'Adobe Flash Player installer/uninstaller 10.1 r102 has stopped working'.
I am at my wits end, if there is anyone out there that can help it would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

NO, just a windows pop-up with the message:
         "Microsoft Windows
         Adobe Flash player Installer/Uninstaller 10.1
         r85 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
         available."
And then just the option to "close program". This happens at the point of me trying to install the
program from the saved download on my desktop, directly through a website or any other method I've tried.
    Thanks
