Help with AE and USB HD setup
Not even sure where to begin. I guess I'm so frustrated with this whole setup.
I went out and purchased a Airport Extreme 802.11n and a G-Tech 250GB USB 2.0 hard drive with the hope of creating a shared network drive for myself (MBP 15") and my wife Dell laptop (Win XP). I can get the AE setup for both of us to the internet without any problems. The issue is with the USB HD. Supposedly, I should just be able to connect the HD to the AE and have my MBP see it and mount it. A USB HD icon does not show up on my desktop, even when I run Airport Disk Utility. I was on the phone with the Apple Level 1 tech without success. He suggested I contact the Level 2 guys in the AM (thanks ). When I connect the HD directly to my computer, it mounts without any problems. Anybody have any thoughts of what I'm doing wrong? I can only imagine trying to set this for my wife's Windows PC later. Ugh!

Connecting a USB hard disk to your base station
If your base station supports it, you can connect a USB hard disk to the USB port on your base station and computers on your network (both wired and wireless) can connect to it to access, share, and store files and data.
Plug the hard disk into the USB port on the back of the base station. If you connect a USB hub to the base station, you can connect multiple hard disks to it, and access them from the wireless network.
Format the hard disk using your computer. On a Macintosh, format the hard disk using Mac OS Extended. On a Computer using Windows XP, use FAT32. AirPort Utility does not support formatting disks.
Open AirPort Utility, select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. Enter the base station password if necessary. Click Disks in the toolbar.
You can set access privileges for the hard disk, and give it a workgroup name on the File Sharing pane.
AirPort Utility is located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Mac, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
Setting up user accounts on your AirPort Base Station
You can set up accounts for users of your wireless network to control how a user shares USB hard disks connected to your base station.
To set up a user account:
1. Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
2. Select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. Enter the base station password if necessary.
3. Click Disks in the toolbar, and then File Sharing.
4. Choose "With accounts" from the Secure Shared Disks pop-up menu, and then click Configure Accounts.
5. Click Add , enter the user name, and then give the user a password.
6. Choose Read and Write, Read Only, or Not Allowed from the File Sharing Access pop-up menu, depending the access privileges you want to assign for this user.

Noob needs help with Logic and Motu live setup.
Hello everyone,
I'm a noob / semi noob who could use some help with a live setup using 2 MOTU 896HD's and Logic on a Mac.
Here's the scenario:
I teach an outdoor marching percussion section (a drumline and a front ensemble of marimbas and vibes). We have an amazing setup of live sound to amplify and enhance the mallet percussion. There is a yamaha PA system with 2 subs and 2 mains which are routed through a rack unit that processes the overall PA balance. I'm pretty sure that the unit is supposed to avoid feedback and do an overall cross-over EQ of the sound. Other then that unit, we have 2 motu896hd units which are routed via fire-wire. I also have a coax cable routing the output of the secondary box to the input of the primary box (digital i/o which converts to ADAT in (i think?)..?
Here's the confusion:
There are more then 8 inputs being used from the ensemble itself, so I need the 16 available inputs to be available in Logic. I was lead to believe that the 2nd motu unit would have to be sent digitally to the 1st motu unit via coax digital i/o. Once in Logic, however, I cannot find the signal or any input at all past the 8th input (of the 1st unit).
Here's the goal:
All of my performers and inputs routed via firewire into a Mac Mini running OSX and Logic pro.
I want to be able to use MainStage and run different patches of effects / virt. instruments for a midi controller keyboard / etc.
I want to be able to EQ and balance the ensemble via Logic.
Here's another question:
How much latency will I be dealing with? Would a mac mini with 4gb of ram be able to handle this load? With percussion, I obviously want the sound as latency free as possible. I also, however, want the flexibility of sound enhancement / modification that comes with Logic and the motu896hd units.
Any help would be REALLY appreciated. I need the routing assistance along with some direction as to whether or not this will work for this type of application. I'm pretty certain it does, as I have spoken with some other teachers in similar venues and they have been doing similar things using mac mini's / logic / mainstage / etc.

ChrisYou'll definitely want to read the manual to make sure the 896HDs are connected together properly. ADAT is a little tricky, it's not just a matter of cabling them together. Go to motunation.com if you need more guidance on connecting multiple devices. Beyond that initial hookup, here are a couple of quick suggestions:
1. Open CueMix and see if both devices are reported there. If not, your connections aren't correct. Be sure to select 44.1kHz as your sample rate, otherwise you are reducing the number of additional channels. For instance at 88.2kHz you would get half the additional channels via ADAT.
2. You may need to create an aggregate device for the MacBook to recognize more than the first 896HD. Lots of help on this forum for how to do that. Again, first make sure you have the 896HDs connected together properly.
3. As for latency with Mainstage on the Mini, no way to know until you try it. Generally MOTU is fantastic for low latency work but Mainstage is a question mark for a lot of users right now. If the Mini can't cut the mustard, you have a great excuse to upgrade to a MacBook Pro. -
Help with local and remote site setups
i've always use dreamweaver to point directly to the dev server files and edit them, save them, and run them. i was the only developer for some time but now we have other developers onboard and we started experimenting with using subversion.
i need to understand how i can leverage the local site and remote sites with subversion so that we arent editing the remote files directly. ive played around with the setting and i think i need to GET the files and have it copy to my local site. however i cannot RUN the files since i dont have Coldfusion on my local machine its only on the DEV server. I used to make a change, press F12 to run the file and could see my changes. can anyone point me in the right direction?First, move the styles from the form generator to the <head> of your document. Otherwise there is a possibility browsers could ignore the invalid code.
Then move your form div inside the banner div and set the attribute float:right; in your CSS for the form div. Then you should be good to go. -
Help with writing and retrieving data from a table field with type "LCHR"
Hi Experts,
I need help with writing and reading data from a database table field which has a type of "LCHR". I have given an example of the original code but don't know what to change it to in order to fix it and still read in the original data that's stored in the LCHR field.
Basically we have two Function modules, one that saves list data to a database table and one that reads in this data. Both Function modules have an identicle table which has an array of fields from type INT4, CHAR, and type P. The INT4 field is the first one.
Incidentally this worked in the 4.7 non-unicode system but is now dumping in the new ECC6 Unicode system.

When I run our report and then to try and save the list data a dump is happening at the following point
LOOP AT T_TAB into L_WA.
As I say, T_TAB consists of different fields and field types whereas L_WA is CHAR 800. The dump mentions UC_OBJECTS_NOT_CONVERTIBLE
When I try to load a saved list the dump is happening at the following point
APPEND T_DATA-RAWDATA to T_TAB.
T_DATA-RAWDATA is type LCHR and T_TAB consists of different fields and field types.
In both examples the dumps mention UC_OBJECTS_NOT_CONVERTIBLE

Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.

It's more likely that you need a different GROUP BY clause, since the GROUP BY clause determines how many rows of output there will be. You may want both a sub-query and a different GROUP BY clause. For example:

You said you wanted "Help with count and sum". I see the COUNT, but what do you want with SUM? No doubt this will be clearer after you post the sample data and results.

All of a sudden my personal hot spot isn't working. It only comes up with Bluetooth and USB connection options. Why would that be?
No I can not turn on the wifi either. I can get on the web on my phone and Facebook etc on phone but no wifi or hotspot

I did a recovery of my iphone4. After extracting, recovery and verifying completing, my iphone restarted. But still i can only see the picture with iTunes and USB port in the iphone 4. Only the emergency call is allowed.
After recovery and re-start of my iphone4 the itunes doesn't detect my phone. What should i do nowDFU Mode and restore again, if it doesn't work, well then...I suggest you try using a custom firmware maker (sn0wbreeze), NOT for the jailbreak, just to try and fix your phone.

Iphone stuck with itunes and usb symbol, havent got disk help!!!
i have my itunes uptodate but the iphone is stuck with the itunes and usb symbol on screen, i havent got the disk for the computer either :/

Help with Epson and HP All-In-One Drivers
I've been looking through the forums for a day and not really finding what I'm looking for, so I decided to post...
Running an AE-N for a Macbook, a Powermac, and a Powerbook.
I've got two printers...an Epson R200 photo printer and an HP PSC 1410 All-In-One printer/scanner. I'm not worried about the scanning so much as the actual printing, both wirelessly and wired. I have no problem adding the printers...they pop up effortlessly in the printer setup through bonjour. But once I actually try to print to them, they endlessly search for the printer ("Looking for printer Epson R200"). Didn't think this would be a problem because they were found so easily by the AE.
I've read all the iFelix stuff posted and granted, I haven't tried the GIMP method just yet, but the R200 at least should be printing right out of the box, correct?
The printers are plugged into a USB hub and I've got an external HD plugged in as well...no problems with it. Any help would be appreciated...

This is working. I had the same problem with Yosemite and found Hp drivers were not working properly.
No need to delete the HP folder in library- printers because there wasn't any directory. -

When I navigate to openAM page (from a domain machine) http://<openAMhost>:<port>/opensso, it doesn't ask for credentials ...
and I can see, with ieHttpHeaders, kerberos data exchange.
Without creating an Active Directory DataStore (pointing to the same domain where I use kerberos data) in openAM,
when I navigate (from a domain machine) to /opensso/idm/EndUser page, it always gives me:
"Plug-in com.sun.identity.idm.plugins.ldapv3.LDAPv3Repo encountered an ldap exception. LDAP Error 32: The entry specified in the request does not exist."
Since my aim was to get user information from a web app ... I thought I could have done this with an agent/SDK call as I usually do with "classic" authentication.
Now I created a J2EE Agent (on openAM) to protect one of my application deployed on a JBoss 4.2.1-GA server.
Agent configured with default options and these changes:
Agent Filter Mode: J2EE_POLICY
User Mapping Mode: USER_ID
User Attribute Name: tried both with employeenumber and uid

I thought it could be because I didn't setup LDAP DataStore ... so I set up Active Directory Data Store.
While in openAM console (from outside domain) I can see (from Subjects tab) Active Directory users and relative information
(like FirstName (=givenName), Surname (=sn), Full Name (=cn), etc.) ... when I try again with idm/EndUser (from a domain machine)
I get the same error:
Message:Plug-in encountered an ldap exception. LDAP Error 32: The entry specified in the request does not exist.What should I do now ?

I setup, from opensso/Debug.jsp message level for Authentication ... but it still doesn't create this log ... can you please tell me how to let openAM write it ?

[solved] Can't boot with LVM and usb external disk
I successfully installed Archlinux on my first computer, using LVM on two internal Hard Drives.
I'm trying to do exactly the same on my second computer, but I got a problem: the LVM volume is not found at boot, so that the root partition can't be mounted and the boot fails.
The only difference is that, on my second computer, the second hard drive is connected through USB.
Some hints: my second computer boots perfectly with LVM and Ubuntu. Archlinux needs to be configured adequately.
I tried to add rootdelay=30 in menu.lst, but it changes nothing. Of course, in /etc/rc.conf I have USELVM="yes" and in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf I have HOOKS="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata keymap lvm2 filesystems"

In the file /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, I modified the MODULES loaded:

I also add in the file /lib/initcpio/hooks/lvm2 the line /bin/sleep 10

I tried AEBS, but the performance is just way too slow. If I were to setup a macMini with attached FW and USB drives, how would I make those drives available to my users on my home network?
Also, do I need to leave the system logged in as a user or can I just share out drives and partitions and leave them?

any clients connecting via wifi will experience slower file access. Make sure the wireless clients are using 802.11n then you can achieve acceptable speeds.

When using a computer as a server it needs to on 24/7. It is best to have a user logged in even if no one uses that mac as a deskop as it make it easier to remotely administrate it over vnc for example -

In Workgroup Manager I have also added a second short name for each user for overlapping, in the mail option the mail server for users in domain1 is the default: sever.domain1.com and for users in domain 2: server.domain2.com
The problems are:
1. When I send a mail from my users in hotmail it returns back as: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender.
2.How can I configure this emails on PCs?
3.I want to create web services for both my domains without the users from domain1 can log in domain2.
When I tried to active 2 separate web services for each domain the user from domain1 had access to domain2.
For example
In https://www.domain1.com should only login users who belong to this domain (domain1).
