Help with amount of songs

i have a 5th generation iPod that has a memory of 30GB/7500 songs PC + Mac i only have 491 songs on it and it says the memory is all used up and there is no more room for more songs......my friends have the same ipod and have about 6/7 of space left and have more songs than me....i only have songs on my iPod and every song is less than 9 minutes.......does resetting my iPod help it or no? can any1 help me please?!?!

do you have several DVD's on your iPod? Those eat up a ton of space...
Also, look at your music files and see how many KB a piece they are, if any are over 10KB, then you have some huge song files, and as the other guy said, make sure that youproperly imported the files

Help with removing unwanted songs......

From what I've understood on other discussion boards, if the little check isn't marked next to a song in your iTunes library, it won't be updated to your iPod. But that doesn't seem to be true for my iPod. It seems like no matter what songs I un-check in hopes of never hearing on my iPod they always end up in my playlist.
I'm sharing my iTunes with my aunt, who has a new shuffle (I just got an 80g) so she ended up with all my songs, and I have all my songs, AND her songs. We have very different tastes in music, so we're both curious as to how to change the playlists on our new toys.
Is there any other way to remove songs from your iPod? (i chose to manually manage music/videos, but they're still on my pod.....)
Any help is greatly appriciated!!!

The updating checked items option doesn't work if you have the iPod set to manual.

Seems like you need to create playlists for your Aunt's music and load only those to the shuffle.
For your iPod, if you have the iPod set to manually manage your songs, and you want to delete the song from the iPod only, then select the iPod in the source list of iTunes, or click on the "music" option underneath it to show all your songs. Highlight the song(s) you no longer want on the iPod, right click and select "clear", or use the edit/delete menu in iTunes.
This method only deletes the songs from the iPod, so if you no longer want the song in iTunes also, you'll need to delete it from there separately using the method above.

Help with adding new song to 2007 iPod shuffle

I have an iPod shuffle from 2007 and just recently went to add new songs to it. Itunes program keeps telling me I have to erase everything and reload w/ new playlist I've added?? Confused, don't remember it working like this last year when I added songs. Any help??

With the 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffle, it can only be associated with one iTunes library at a time. That has always been the design. It is basically like a mobile playlist for iTunes the library. The 3rd and 4th gen shuffles work more like the "bigger" iPods that have a screen, which is different from the very simple 1st and 2nd gen.
If you previously used this shuffle with a different iTunes library, iTunes is asking if you want to associate the shuffle with the iTunes library you are now using.

Can someone help with my itunes song skipping problem?

I just got a new laptop and transfered all the songs successfully, downloaded the newest itunes and bought more songs from the itunes store and two days later, my songs started skipping. They aren't skipping as bad as i've read on the messages boards of other people, maybe one small skip in various songs.
But...
Once I plug in my ipod to the usb port, will the skipping songs transfer onto my ipod and start making them skip as well? I checked my ipod and all the songs are ok, but I haven't attached my ipod since the songs started skipping.
Oh yeah...I've set Quicktime to safemode, I've read on these boards about switching to safemode...but nothing changed.
What do you guys think?

Unless the problem is with the songs themselves, moving the songs to your iPod will not make them skip there. Before you sync the files in question you should play them with another medium (ie. "Windows Media Player"). This will help you pinpoint where the problem is.

Please help!! I just recently got my pc laptop back from being worked on and the hard drive had to be replaced. Tonight I had to download iTunes and now all my purchased music (which in in the 1,000's) gives me a message when I try to play it,
"the song could not be used because the original file could not be found." I'm really frustrated since this music was purchased why can't I play it this is ridiculous! I've had numerous problems with iTunes before but I have to say this really is the worst. I realize these songs are still on my iPhone but I have really nice built in speakers and I like to listen to music while in my office right from my pc. Any advice would be helpful, I'm at my wits end. Please advise!!

Help with updating and song information

im currently using itunes 11.1.2(i know its the newest .2) and the new update is for .4 and an error comes up.
i see that you should do an uninstall and a reinstall but i wanted to know if this will lose all my songs and thier data (ie i have given everysong a rename and artist rename and lyrics). ive seen you need an itl and xml file but i only have an xml file
im using windows 7 for additional info
i just need help on what to do in this situation.

Let's start with...
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and any iOS device backups. You should check your preferences after reinstalling to make sure nothing has changed. Ideally you would backup the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See the user tip Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy for a suggested strategy.
And a comprehensive guide to the reinstall process.
The main libray file is iTunes Library.itl though you may see it as iTunes Library. If you've managed to lose it, and have no back up
In the unlikely event that content is missing from the library following the reinstallation of iTunes see Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash or Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
And a host of other troubleshooting advice....

Problem with amount of songs in iPod

My 4G ipod with no extras like pictures, playlists, or whatever can only fit about 250 songs on it.

Bear in mind that Apple quotes the number of songs you are able to store on any iPod by using aac at 128kbps for a 4 minute song.
It's probably because you have the import settings and bitrate set wrong. Look in iTunes under edit/preferences/advanced/importing. What does it say in settings and import using? You need to compress your music using either mp3 or aac. If you see AIFF, WAV or Apple Lossless then those formats are going to take way more space than mp3 or aac, especially the first 2 which are raw uncompressed formats.

Except that the files are hidden, and even more to the point, you'll have no way to get back your playlists and ratings. All of which yamipod will do for you with no problem. Why do things the hard way when there is so easy a solution?

Need help with relocating of songs in playlist

My songs are in my harddisk, I started iTunes without plugging it in and somehow it started syncing with my iphone, now all the songs in my playlists have a stupid exclaimation sign beside them, is there any way I can automatically relocate all songs in my playlists without doubleclicking each?Thanks

Close iTunes, connect the external drive, start iTunes, correct the location of the iTunes Media folder under Edit > Preferences > Advanced. Should all be good.

Need help with pc itunes songs to ipad

Hi,
I have ipad 3 and Win7.
I have itunes open on my PC and have the Devices folder open so I can see my iPad and its folders etc there.
It shows..
Muisc
Films
TV
Backings-1
90's muisc
Classical etc etc
Down the bottom of the left side of Itunes in 'Playlists' I have a folder I call 2014.
This folder had 15 songs in it.
I want to get that folder and those songs into my ipad as a sub folder under Backings-1
I have tried and tried but can't find the way.
Please help as it's driving me bonkers.

Help with uploading IPod songs onto ITunes on new computer

My harddrive crashed, and I had to get a replacement harddrive. I tried uploading the songs from my IPod, but for some reason, this is not being allowed to happen even though I chose to transfer the songs over and over.

I have a 30 GB iPod and I have been importing songs to my computer....My iPod has, right now, about 410 songs and 20 videos...but my pc is starting to get really, really slow!
I wanted to know if there's any problem in deleting the songs from my pc...if I do that, will the songs from my iTunes and from my iPod be deleted too???
Is there something that I can do? Something in the "Preferences" that save, somehow, the songs in the iTunes program, but, at the same time, let me delete them from the pc?? Or I will have to accept that my pc will get even more slow???
PLEASE, I'd really love if somebody help me!!
P.S.: I have already "Consolidated" my library (Advanced > Consolidate Library), but I don't know if that helps me somehow.....

Help with songs files transfer on iPod and iTouch?

Hey guys.
I just got an itouch recently and I need help with something but I don't really know how to describe it so I'll try my best to put it in a way for you guys to understand. Is there an option where when you plug in the iTouch into your computer, but you don't want to transfer the songs/mp3 files you already have originally on your iPod to be automatically transfer over to your itouch? Everytime when I connect the iTouch to computer it would just copy the mp3 files over to it butI don't really want that. I just want the mp3 file to stay on the iPod only.

Does it get cut off on the iPod or in iTunes (or both)?
Does it always happen with the same songs?
The problem may be related to the program that was used to encode those files. Do a +Get Info+ on a few of the affected songs and see if there is anything in common where is says +Encoded with+ on the Summary tab.

For some reason all my songs are not associated with the actual song in my library, need help please
