Help with ati Radeon HD 3650

Question

Hi,
I've got a relatively new system with a fresh install of arch on it, and I'd like to get some fancy desktop effects going like the one in this video:http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1927392/a … her_stuff/.
The videocard I've got is a radeon hd 3650, pci express 2.0, manufatured by HIS.(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814161221)
I'm currently using the "radeonhd" driver (xf68-video-radeonhd), and am not getting any good video performance whatsoever. I don't even have direct rendering. I've put the output of glxinfo and my xorg.conf at the bottom of this post.
My question is as follows: Is there any way to get the fancy desktop effects with this video card? If so, what do I need to change about my configuration? If not, what card (or class of card) would I need to get to get the kind of performance shown in the video?

LAN was already excluded from the boot order list - HDD is the first option.
I don't use a domain controller for authentication, this machine is used as a home/ personal workstation.
Also, I've enabled diagnostics boot mode and when the workstation starts, I hear a long "beep" sound when the diagnostic screen appears, additional to the normal beep sound that notifies me that the os has been loaded (Windows).
Is this a sign that something is wrong? Should I look for anything else?
