Help with Back Up Photos on new computer

hi i need help on how to back up my iphone as i am upgrading tommorrow and giving my sister my old iphone, However the computer i first set my phone up on is broken and we have a new laptop. nothing i have tried seems toiw ork. mostly i need my contacts and photos backed up. any help would be hugely appreciated.

Use iCloud and create a backup.   Don't give the phone away until you have copied the photos from it to your new computer.
Don't forget to wipe the device and unlock the Activation lock so your sister can use it under her accoutn going forward.

  • Need help with Westell Versalink 327w on new computer with Windows Vista

    Greetings!
I'm having trouble trying to connect to my Westell Versalink 327w with my new computer. My old computer and laptop work perfectly fine in connecting to the router. However, when I plug in the Ethernet cable to the router on my new computer, the computer doesn't recognize that a connection is even established. (As if it's not actually plugged in.)
The port on the back of my computer is perfectly fine, as it works with another internet connection I have setup. The cable and router work fine on both my old computer and laptop. (In fact, I'm using the laptop to post on the forums right now.)
The Router itself shows the Ethernet connection that's plugged in as a blinking green light.
Is there a driver or some software I need to install on the new computer? Any specific settings?
I'm using Windows Vista on the new computer, and the old computers both have Windows XP. Is there some sort of complicated new setup that Vista has which is preventing the connection, or like I said, is there software or a driver that I didn't install on the new computer that's making it not recognizing the router at all?
Any help would be much appreciated!

    IceSage,
Hey there!  Drivers would not required for an ethernet connection to the Versalink.  This appears to be an issue with Vista specifically.  If you have not already done so you may want to disable IPv6 in the TCP/IP settings of your LAN controller:
Network and Sharing Center > Manage network connections > Right click on "Local Area Network" > Properties > Uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) > Click "OK" > Reboot > cross fingers
Let us know if that works.

  • Help with syncing my ipod to new computer!!!!!

I got a new computer recently with windows 7 installed. however, it doesn't have my itunes library from my previous computer. This is only on my ipod touch. I have put a few new albums onto my computer, but can't put these onto my ipod; i would sync the ipod with my new library, but i think that would get rid of all the music that's already on my ipod? What i would like to know is how i can get all the music on my itouch onto my computer's itunes library (i'm not bothered about losing the few new albums i've just put on there)
    thanks very much, Simon

Where is your backup? You should always have a backup.
Itunes store does not keep a copy of your music for you. The only way it would be on the new computer is if you put it there. Once you download a song once, then you must keep up with it and move it wherever you want.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:
    Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
When you sync your ipod to a different computer, it will first erase the content from the ipod, then replace it with content from the new computer.

  • Need help with transferring DW files to new computer

I purchased a second computer - installed DW on new computer
and connected to server - but am having a problem getting the site
    files installed correctely.
On comp#1, in the sidebar I can switch between local and
remote -- and there are arrows to upload or download files. On new
computer I don't see that. New computer has Vista, would that
change the look of the DW program?

    > installed DW on new computer and connected to
    > server - but am having a problem getting the site files
    installed correctely.
    go to old computer.
    open dw.
    dw menu-->site-->Manage Sites
select a site (in cs3, you can shift-click to select entire
    list)
    and press the export button.
    repeat for all sites.
then move the .ste files AND all the "local site folders"
    that contain the
site assets to the other computer.
double-click the .ste file, or use dw
    menu->site->import
you will have to double-check these three places in each site
    definition:
    Local info:
    Local site folder path
    default image folder path
    Site:
    location of this site's "homepage"
-->IF anything on the path to the local files is different
    on this computer.
Such as having a different Username.

  • Need help with backed up photos-now cannot view..?

Using iphoto 6, super duper, seagate external hd. Drive has already been set-up and backed up several times-been working well........until.......
Last night, I saw that out of 120gb I have about 5gb left on my G4.!
"decided" to back-up iphotos and "delete" some on my G4 to reserve more space.
Now, if I go to the external and click on pictures folder, I can see all of my originals folders (2002-2008), but when I open iphoto, they are not in iphoto.?
On my G4, it's the same thing, but worse! When I tried to delete my photos, I was holding the apple key and selecting multiple items, then dragging them to the trash.......I'm sure you have done this yourself before, but It drug them a little, then them "dropped" into other places in the same folder-NOT the trash! They are in all different places in the pictures folder, and not in the same places they used to be......!!!
I've read about "re-constructing" the library. Will this work? I do not want to do any more damage. They are there-I know it!
So, I drug the entire library of "originals" back into iphoto, but ALMOST all of the way through (got down to 100 out of 8,000 photos) and got a message that says "an error occured while trying to save your iphoto library. Make sure you have enough hard disk space and that iphoto is able to access the iphoto library folder."
I look at my hd space, and I have about 500mb left....?
What does this mean? I THINK I don't have enough hd space to do it now. What the **** should I do? Getting a little frustrated at this point. I am off tomorrow and want to get it fixed up.
8,000 of my childrens photos is nothing to "play" with. I can't believe I was so stupid with these. These mean the world to me, and I'm pretty sure they are still there. Obviously they are because about 60gb of hd space is being used up with my photos according to the program "what size?" I downloaded to use.
    Where to start?
First, thanks for reading this, and second---could someone help me out some?
Could someone please post a link to help me to correctly partition the seagate external hd, and get these photos backed up?
Also, what is the best way to free up my hd space on my G4? I also have a mini with 60gb of storage if I need additional hd space. In addition, I have an iphone, itouch, imac, 3 nanos, ipod hi-fi,,,,,,,Obviously, I LOVE my Apple products, but don't have enough knowledge to operate them.....kinda sad, huh?

This is the iPhoto '08 forum (version 7.x.x) and you may very well get incorrect answers to questions about other versions - it would be better to post in the iPhoto 6 forum - http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1116

I would like to inform you One CC membership can be used on two machines . These two computers can be Windows, Mac OS, or one each.

  • Can i transfer all my playlist from a time machine back up to a new computer?

can i transfer all my playlist from a time machine back up to a new computer?

    Hey joven_photo,
Thanks for the question. Your iTunes playlists are stored within the iTunes Library files. The best option may be to move your entire iTunes Library to a new computer, as outlined in this article:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer

  • When we backed up iphone on new computer all photos, apps were lost.  how can we get them back?

When I tried to back up my phone on itunes, on a new computer, somehow I lost all of my photos, apps, everything.  I have no clue how to retrieve them or if I accidentally deleted them when I restored the phone.  Can anyone help me?

If you backed up the device, you should be able to recover it from the backup unless you somehow deleted the backup.  See if it isn't recognized by iTunes, then restore it from backup.

  • Moving photos to new computer with PSE7

I plan to move my photos from an old computer with PSE4/Win XP SP3, to PSE7 on a recently purchased Dell Studio with Vista 64bit.  I want to know if the transfer can be done by simply backing up the PSE4 catalog onto DVD, and then inserting the DVDs into the new system.  Will PSE7 recognize the tags/collections from PSE4 and import the photos as I have them in my catalog now, or will I have to retag/organize everything again after importing?
Also, I have some trepidation concerning Vista 64bit and Elements after reading about some compatibility issues.  Is it the overall consensus that PSE7 works on the 64bit platform, but just isn't officially supported by Adobe, or are there a lot of repeatedly confirmed issues with the two resulting in such events like freezes, crashes, corruption or loss of images, etc.?  Thanks for any insights before I take the plunge...if I do
    Ethan

Re Vista 64, PSE 7 seems to run just fine on it, with no more reports of problems than with Vista 32 or XP:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_PSE_and_Vista
The most reliable way to do your move and upgrade is to break it up into steps:
    1. Install PSE 7 on the old computer and convert your PSE 4 catalog there. See this FAQ for information about converting catalogs:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Problems_converting_cat alogs
    2. Use the backup/restore method to move the PSE 7 catalog to the new computer:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Move_your_photos_1
Note in particular the special section about Vista in the referenced tech note.
The catalog conversion will preserve all your tagging, captions, notes, etc.   Doing this in two steps rather than one will make it easier to troubleshoot if something goes wrong (and it often does).

  • HT1766 I got a new MacBook Air. I need to sync my iPhone with the iTunes on my new computer so I can back up my iPhone. How do I do this without losing my pictures/contacts, etc. on my iPhone?

I have not updated my phone yet because I know it needs to be backed up first. However, I cannot do this in fear of losing everything on it if I sync to my new itunes. I am not really concerned with losing music, just do not want to lose pictures, notes, etc.

First you need to copy the entire iTunes folder from the
old computer to the new one.  You should also make sure
that anything on the old computer that goes on the iPhone
is present on the new computer.
If it is a Mac, this process is usually pretty easy by using
Migration Assistant which will transfer all that stuff over to
    the new Mac.
If you are using a PC, I will defer that to someone else for
all but the iTunes stuff.  You will do the same thing on the
PC, that is copy the entire iTunes folder to the new computer.
Migration assistant is available to move things from a PC,
but not sure how well that works.
When openning iTunes for the first time, you will need to hold
down the Option key on the Maccbook Air and you will
be presented with a dialog box and you will select open existing
library and navigate to it.  Failure to do this, will create a default
library with nothing in it and you will have to move stuff again.
So if all the data is the same, you should be able to sync
    just fine.
