Help with Bold 9000

Hi,
I have got a Bold 9000 and it only has English installed.  I would like to find a way of putting Spanish as a keyboard option, the only problem I have is I use a MAC and I can't seem to find out how to add it.
I would be grateful for any advice
Regards

  • Help with Bold/Italic CSS in EPUB export

I generate EPUB files from the print version of my InDesign books. Because I want the best possible experience for readers on various devices, I always take time to clean up and optimize the XHTML and images, since I do understand that reflowable eBooks may not look exactly like their print-page counterparts. Plus, paring things down to basic HTML tags like div, p, em, and strong helps me prep the content for multiple targets, including Kindle or web page, and also helps ensure accessibility by allowing the user's device to handle em and strong instead of forcing those blocks to be italic or bold.
When InDesign exports text formatted as italic and bold, however, I don't get simple tags like <em>...</em> and <strong>...</strong>, I get <span class="CharOverride-1">...</span> and <span class="CharOverride-2">...</span>.
It's always worked like that, which is fine—but in previous versions it was no big deal to replace all <span class="CharOverride-N">...</span> with <em>...</em> (or <strong>...</strong>). Since there was one idGeneratedStyles.css for the whole book, I could rely on the fact that N would always be the same style within a book (even if it varied from one book to another).
Now, with the supposed "more control over CSS," I find that there's a local CSS file generated for every document in the book! In one document, <span class="CharOverride-1">...</span> is bold, in another the same class means italic. This change has turned a 30 second process into 60 minutes, since I have to check each document one at a time to do the correct replacement.
Is there an option I'm missing? Is this a new feature-bug?
    Am I an edge case?
    [Edit: Simplified Title]

I did try replacing all italic text in the 30 documents or so with a new character style called "Italic;" I set the Export Tagging option for the style to em but the output I got was <span class="Italic">...</span>
That's still closer to what I need, since it's consistent, but definitely not what I was hoping for! I'm also not sure I want to remember to use the new "Italic" style instead of the near-instinctive keyboard shortcut for make this selection italic.

  • Is it possible to read MS Access report file .snp with Bold 9000

    HI
I would like to read MS Access Report file .SNP generated by an internal application.
This file is part of an e-mail as attached object.
Is it possible to do this with my BB 9000?
    Thank you in advance,
    Nik

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Natively? No, I don't think so. Your choices are, I believe:
    1) Seek out a 3rd party add-on app that will render that file type
    2) Adjust the app that is generating the file and convert it to PDF before sending. Then, for as long as the item remains an email attachment, the email attachment service will be able to render the image on your BB. There are also add-ons (fee based) to enhance the quality of the rendering.
    Cheers!

    I use the following code:
         MutableAttributeSet BOLD = new SimpleAttributeSet();
    StyleConstants.setBold(BOLD, true);
Then, I dump the key, object pair in the AttributeSet by the following piece of code:

  • NEW OWNER OF BB Bold 9000 and need help

i just purchased BB bold 9000 and I have the following difficulties would like to address.. hope you can help me out. I want to use the application that are on my phone, like word to go, excel and ppt. I registered the softwares, but I click the New Document, a message - Your smartphone comes with Doc to go Standard Edition. The feature you're trying to use is not available in the Standard Edition, but it is in the Premium Edtion.. 1. my question is - I only registered the software, I haven't even started using the product, so how come the one installed on my phone is unsuable? Is the New Doc option not applicable on Standard Edition? The only option I have when I open the word to go is open existing file.. which I don't have yet, because I haven't used it yet. When I click the said option, the message says - Permission to your files was denied, please configure your application permissions appropriately... 2. How do I configure it? Another thing, I don't have the BB Device Software.. where do I get it? I want to download the BB App World so I can get some stuff... Hope you can help me out. Thank you so much.

The message is clear -- you cannot create brand new documents with the Standard Edition. The workaround is to place a document onto your device (anything will do) and then open it...then use Save As to create the new document you want.

I've no idea what you mean by "the said option"...so I'm not at all sure how to guide you. If you mean that you click the selection to open a file, then you must have something there to open and it must be located in a folder on your BB to which you have full read/write access (some system folders are, naturally, protected).

I think you have two things confused here.
The Device Software is the device OS...the core Operating System of your BB. You must have it if your BB is operating at all. If you want a package that you can install to your PC and use with the RIM Desktop Manager software, you can obtain it from your carrier download site:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
For AppWorld, you can obtain that here:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp#tab_tab_download
Hope something up there helps! Good luck and let us know!

  • Transfer of data from q5 to bold 9000

hi - have been using bbq5 - some hardware issue and for 15days need to use old phone which is bold 9000-
how do i transfer my back up of q5 to bold 9000 - pl. guide - thanks

    Hi Vaibhav,
Let me tell you the objective in detail.
    Objective.
To develop a package solution which will work as a bridge between Oracle APS and SAP system so that customers using SAP will be able to use advantages of Oracle APS for their planning needs.
This will consist of following major components:
OA Templates is an Oracle utility to load data from any legacy system to Oracle APS using standard flat files.
Oracle has developed an Application Integration Architecture which is a standard architecture used for integration of Oracle products with other systems.
Enterprise services is an SAP utility to communicate with SAP.
AIA canonicals are standard canonicals developed by Oracle where we have to map data fields from destination system (Oracle APS) and source system (SAP)
Fusion middleware is being used to develop application interfaces following AIA standards.
    Tasks at stake:
Mapping of Oracle APS fields and SAP Enterprise Service fields to AIA canonicals
Technical work of developing middleware using Oracle Fusion
From Sap side,we have to map fields which we have received from Oracle with the help of Enterprise Services, rest  consumption of these services is done by Oracle guys. So,suggest is there enterprise services available which would give us multiple records .
    Thanks & Regards,
    Divya.

  • How to display and type in Chinese on BB bold 9000?

Hey, I'm a new user of BB bold 9000. Just bought the phone from the states, which was distributed by AT&T and it is unlocked.
I have tried couple times by following this post:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve-BlackBerry-8300/Chinese-Character/m-p/35515?...
In the aforesiad post, instrucation was given as:
install Desktop Manager without Media Manager on your PC
install the handheld software 4.5.0.174 on your PC (it will install inside the Desktop Manager)
seaarch for a file called vendor.xml and rename it to vendor.xml.toto or anything else
plug your BlackBerry device to the PC, and launch the Desktop Manager
in the application section, you can see the OS of 2) and install it to your BlackBerry device."
Basically what I did was to install Desktop Manager without Media Manager (5.0) version on my PC and installed the handheld software 4.6
I noticed that there's no Chinese language selection (basically no Asian languages) and I then tried 4.6 Desktop Manager which still didn't work.
Also, I am not able to find the "vender.xml", wondering if this has any impact on the application.
What should I install to display and type in Chinese? Any inputs will be appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Help with Blackberry Link

Hello - I just upgraded to the Q10 from the Bold 9000, and I am having problems getting the BlackBerry Link to work properly.  I successfully downloaded the application (Version 1.1.1 build 13) to my MacBook, but it does not recognize my Q10 when I use the USB cable to plug into the Mac - the tab for it never appears at the bottom of the screen. It only shows up if I select "Show Disconnected Devices".  It advises me to reset the Q10 to the factory settings, but I will lose all of the vacation photos and other data that I have added to the device since I bought it.
So, in a nutshell, I can't back up my data because the BlackBerry Link won't work properly, and if I reset the phone I lose it all.  BlackBerry Protect no longer backs up my data for me.  I could e-mail all of my photos to myself, but that seems to be a tedious last resort.  Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!

Hello witchland and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue with your device connecting to BlackBerry Link.
Disconnect your device from your Mac and restart your Mac.
On your device, go to Settings>Storage and Access and ensure Access to Storage shows USB Connection as Connect to Mac. Keep scrolling to the bottom and ensure USB Mass Storage is Off.
Launch BlackBerry Link then connect your device. Does it now detect in Link? Does the lightening bolt appear to indicate your device is charging?
    Thanks!

  • Learning about Bold 9000 and Mac Power Book

I bought a BB Bold 9000 in Panama with instructions in Spanish.  I am now trying to use it in the US (although I will soon be back in Panama).  I would like to make more use of the E-mail features in combination with my Power Book and to move pictures from the BB to the Power Book.  Right now I am stymied by the instructions that I am getting from BB (both on the device and on this web site).
Can anyone suggest how to synch my two puzzling non-communicating devices?  I have not received any e-mails on the BB since Christmas.

  • BB Bold 9000 connection problem on a MAC

    Hi,
I saw a lot of posts talking about that connection but I didn't find any relevant solution which could help me solving my problem.
I tried to connect my BB Bold 9000 on a MAC using the USB cable but nothing happens as if the MAC didn't detect my Bold. The physical connection seems to work correctly because the Bold receives power from the MAC.
I installed PocketMac and the latest drivers (downloaded from http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/mac.jsp) but PocketMac doesn't see my Bold too.
The Mass Storage Mode is activated on my Bold.
I tried to connect my Bold on a PC using  BB Desktop Manager and the connection works correctly.
I also connected a Blackberry 8320 on my MAC and the connection worked directly. The Blackberry Mass Storage immediately appeared on the creen and then the synchronization worked correctly using PocketMac.
The problem seems to be between the Bold and the MAC. I installed the latest drivers on my MAC but the problem is still there.
Do you have any idea to help me because I really need to be able to synchronize my calendar between my Bold and my MAC.
Thanks in advance if you can help.
    François

my service provider is ATT I called their technical support since still within a month then after a long unsucesful conversation with them they were able to transfer me directly to BB support is actually called Reseach in Motion. They have work laborously on my case. Unfortunately seems like I am only run 10.4.11 and can't upgrade that may be my case. but if you just got your phone I strongly reccomend you call your provider. My 1st problem was that it was not even recognizable now I can tell is hooked up but it just won't Synch properly. There will be a new software release soon that "supposed" to fix some of the problems with newer systems. GOOD LUCK, hopefully you got better luck than I do. They are still working on mine!
    but they sure are helpful!

  • BB Bold 9000 How to display Arabic SMS text

I'm new to these forums so sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong spot .. please redirect me if so.
Recently bought BB bold 9000 from Vodafone Aust. Need to know how to display msgs or emails received in ARABIC text .. any help would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
Download the OS for the carrier and use Application loader inside the Desktop manager software (that came with the Box)  and select Arabic with the language options (if that is an option).
Alternatively you could install the OS from an Arabic carrier (involves deleting the vendor.xml file), but its not recommended....
This is the instructions from my website (the short version):
     Get an OS from here:http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
The Operating system software downloaded from the Blackberry website contains all the files required to reload the O/S.
The Desktop Manager software is NOT required!
Once downloaded and installed, follow these directions:
Download the OS file from your carrier website to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Can someone please give me some help before I pull the rest of my hair out!
I am trying to connect my 8820 and also an 8110 to our home wireless network, each time I go through the set up procedure and find the network, put in the correct WEP key and then try and connect it gives me the following error messages on both phone "Device failed to associate with the AP." can some one please tell me where I am going wrong?
I have changed the home network from WPA to WEP as there is no option for WPA in the settings.
    Help Please.
    Many thanks in advance

I am unable to connect a 8820 on my network with same message noted by User: leomyles.  I am able connect my Bold 9000 without any difficulty.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I would not have thought there should be such a problem within 2 Blackberry models.
I too need help on resolving this issue. I would have chosen another model for my staff had I known such a problem existed.

  • Can't set up own email account on BB Bold 9000.

Hi there, had a quick query don't know if anyone will be able to help me.
My sister got a BB Bold 9000 upgrade and passed it on to me. I've been trying to get emails from my own email accounts delivered straight to my phone (did this before with the same SIM card I am using, on my Nokia 5800 and it worked perfectly). However, my screen is not showing the right screen when I go to Email Setup.
    Instead of giving me the option to add an email account, it only gives me the following option;
'I want to use a work email account with a BB Enterprise Server'.
Obviously this isn't what I want to do, can't find help anywhere and wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to how to sort this out?
    Thanks.

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Can't backup my Bold 9000 anymore

I have an iMac 27'' with Mac OS X Lion installed. I haven't backuped my Bold 9000 since I installed Lion. Now I tried with the Deskop Manager 2.1.13 and it doesn't work. My device is recognized, but everytime I click on the "Save" button (I have a german version so I hope the wording is correct here), the DM just quits the back up and says: "Backup not possible because of an unknow error." This is really annoying as I urgently need to baxckuo my Bold 9000. I am running 5.0.0.1049 in my 9900.
Oh and I tried the Window BB Deskopt Manager in a VMWare Windows XP machine and there it does'nt recognize my Bold at all (on the Mac it finds my Bold and even mounts it).
    Thanks for any help!
