Help with burning iPhoto pics to disc

My hard drive is dying and iphoto wont open- I have an external hard drive that I back up to, but since iphoto wont open- they arent backing up. I can however open my pics to email them to myself. Is there ANY OTHER WAY to burn these pics to cd other than opening from iphoto?

Try this - right click on your iPhoto Library file and select Show Package Contents: there should be a folder within named "Masters":
All of your high-res photos should be in this folder. Copy all to a folder on your Desktop so that you can, at least, 'rescue' all of your photos.

Problems with burning iPhoto library to DVD

When I try to burn my iPhoto library to a DVD, iPhoto eventually always crashes.
iPhoto will prepare to burn and the window to select output drive, spee, etc. will com up. After clicking on "burn", iPhoto is always end.
What could be wrong?
Is my iPhoto library maybe corrupted?
If yes, can I do something about it?
Infos:
iBook G4, 640 RAM, HD 30GB (3.72 available), OSX Tiger, external LACIE d2 DUAL DVD+-RW DRIVE, iPhoto library: 3.53 GB

Thanks for giving all your info. Your free space on your hard drive is not enough to do a successful burn of the entire iPhoto Library. Do you have an external drive? Is your drive supported for iPhoto burning? usually on the internal that comes with the computer is supported.
Try instead to burn the entire iPhoto Library folder in the Finder using your external burner.
Close iPhoto

Answer: Yes, you can easily back up your iPhoto library by using the CD burning capabilities of Mac OS X. Simply insert a blank CD into your internal or external CD-RW drive and copy the iPhoto library to the CD icon on your desktop. When you drag the CD icon to the Trash/Eject button in the Dock, you are given the option to burn the CD. Click Burn and the CD is created. To burn a DVD backup of your digital images, use iDVD and a SuperDrive-equipped Mac.

FAE help with export - iphoto crashing

Hello,
I'm trying to use FAE to create the portfolio section (graphic design) of my site. Thanks to the help of a few folks on this forum i've found extensive instructions on how to do so. I've successfully created practice albums with pictures already in my iphoto library. However, I'm currently trying to convert my design files into jpegs in order to import them into iphoto, to finally export them with FAE. When I try to export my created JPEGS with FAE, iphoto crashes. The JPEGS are exported adobe illustrator files that have been, as I mentioned before, imported into iphoto as JPEG files.
I am getting a slightly different prompt with these images as well after I hit export in FAE (when it's asking the location to save the created file to)
I am assuming that the problem is with the created JPEGs, I've tried playing around with the settings a bit with no luck. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Try using this Automator workflow on the original Illustrator/jpg files to convert them again to a jpg file: Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB profile. Then import and try exporting with FAE. You can download it from Toad's Cellar.
Also try using some of your regular jpg files with FAE to see if it will import. If it crashes with other jpgs then it's not the file, it's iPhoto and the plugin. In that case try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, reboot, repair disk permissions and try again.
An alternative to FAE Exporter is Jalbum. It has more themes/skins and options and the resulting files are added to iWeb the same as those from FAE.

Please, i need help with burning phone videos

hi i have a nokia 6280 i have awindows vista and have downloaded nokia video manager i have attached my phone to computer and all my videos have gone on to my computer and are working on the video player but now i would like to burn them on to disc but dont know how to do it if i go on to dvd maker its not compatable if i go on to movie maker it says that a codec is required and i dont know what it is or how to get one can you please help ????

You need to purchase more advanced burning software like nero (www.nero.com) or you could convert the files to a format that dvd maker understands using this:

Can anyone help with this error msg "The disc can't be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E)." ?

I was also getting the message telling me it is a medium problem however that has changed more to the latest 0x8002006E one.
I use to be able to record all the time on DVD-R, then all of a sudden that has stopped and get

I have looked at most of the discussions on this subject, I have also done most of what people have suggested, nothing has worked so far.
I am able to record music on cd's, I am able to record on DVD-RW, I can't however record on DVD -R anymore and have tried three different brands.

Unable to burn iphoto pics to disk. Get the message"no devices are available for burning".

I have been burning pics from iphoto to disc since I purchased my imac with no problem. Now I just get the message "no devices are available for burning". Also, my system does not recognize a cd in the drive. What is the reason? if it can only be that simple.

The reason may be that your optical drive has failed. Try resetting the SMC and pram and if that doesn't help probably either a trip to a repair center or purchasing an external drive is in order.
To reset the SMC
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
To reset PRAM/NVRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Need help with exporting iphoto to dvd

I am trying to export a bunch of albums from iphoto to a brand new dvd-r disc. I am trying to move the photos to free up more space on the computer. I get the message "there is not enough disk space to complete this operation" when I try to export just one album (total 826mb). I still have 870mb free on my HD. Thanks for your help.

You have a major crisis right now and you need to solve it immeadiately.
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD.
Nothing else can be done until you do. Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Burning material to optical disk will not work Creating a disk needs a large amount fo disk space - at least twice the amount you think you need.
But really, you must make space on that HD. You are in grave danger of losing important data.

Help with burning large project on dual layer DVD

Hi need help please.
I am busy with a SD 16x9 project 215 minutes long so I am trying to use dual layer DVD's. The project has a serious menu setup (well I think so), it starts with a intro and go's into the main menu with sub menu's and so on. my problems is the following:
if I burn a image all works well if I burn a disc from the image or using encore the menu once using a DVD player is very slow (the last half of the links on the time line) and some links get mixed up (if I press play dvd on the 3rd sub menu it somtimes starts in the correct place and somtimes it starts one link later).
is this caused by the break in the layer and what can I do to correct it or to get it better.

Are you using any motion menus? Have you exceeded the 1 gig limit for menus etc?
I assumed 16:9 and forgot to look before I started posting: it does not look like it, but be sure you don't have more than 18 buttons per menu (if it is 16:9).
With lots of short clips, break position should not be an issue. You can export to a folder and use imgburn which gives more control over layer breaks.
Even though complex, it all looks straight forward, and, even though I can't see the image detail, it looks okay. The most likely issue in such a project is that Encore got lost as you made changes/corrections. Sometimes they can be fixed. Other times, the solution is a do over. Newer versions for Encore appear more robust (fewer problems and more likely to fix problems), but no versions appear to be free of such issues.

The new version of iTunes does look quite a bit different. I found an article that has the steps to burn a playlist to a disc.

The first few steps should get you back on track:
Create a playlist that contains the songs or files you want to burn to the CD; make sure the items you want to include have a checkmark beside them.
Insert a blank disc.
Select the playlist and choose File > Burn Playlist to Disc.
If Burn Playlist to Disc doesn’t appear in the menu, the playlist you selected can’t be burned to a CD because it contains items with usage restrictions (for example, a song your computer isn’t authorized to play).

Help with Sharing iPhoto 9.5.1 library between users on same computer

Hi,
I have upgraded operating systems to Maverick on my macbookpro which also upgraded iphoto to 9.5.1. Previously in IPhoto I could choose to share the library in each of three user accounts. The third account was used only for gathering photos to make books, calendars etc. There does not appear to be a way to do this now. How do I share libraries on the same computer without creating a library on a separate device?
So frustrating....I was right in the middle of creating a book.

That particular feature has been discontinued with iPhoto 9.5.1. However, you can use iCloud to share photos via Shared Photo Streams. Each user account will need their own iCloud account and each user can create Shared Photo Streams to be shared with the other accounts. The photos in the SFSs can be downloaded by any account with access to the stream.
Anbother option would be to create a Dropbox account and when the 2 accouts come across photos to be used in a project they can export the original file to the Dropbox in the account so they can be downloaded into the 3rd account and imported into the project library.
If you have an external HD you could put the project library on it and access it from each of the other 2 accounts. Project photos could be added to that library directly by the other 2 accounts by exporting to the desktop and importing into the projects library with an easy library switch. Or one can use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy selected albums between libraries.

Please Help with Burn Error in iDVD 4.0.1

I'm using a G5 and running OS 10.3.9. I've burned a slideshow once with no problems using iDVD over a year ago and went to try again recently (after upgrading whenever an upgrade was available) and I'm getting the following error:
Errors were found during the burning process
The recording device reported the media error:
WRITE error - RECOVERY FAILED. (0x0C, 0x08.)
I'm using DVD-R as required, which I've also used in the past. Can anyone help me in troubleshooting this problem. I've ruined 3 disks so far trying to burn this slideshow. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

Power calibration area error. (0x73, 0x03.)
Where can I choose the burn speed? You recommended 4x or slower but no burn speed option appeared when I clicked 'burn'.

In elements 11, how do I manage to burn a disk?

When I complete a folder of photos, I like to burn them to disk. I have found that Picasa (Free from Google), let's me burn a disk with a slide show included. Learning a Mac is a new thing for me. Things are just a little different. Jumping from Elements 6 to 11 is fun to learn. Without the organizer is tough.

Help with 'unlocking' iPhoto Library! SO LOST!

I was a PC user all my life and recently I decided to switch to Mac. I'm still figuring things out and for the most part I've got the hang of it, with one exception...iPhoto. I'm not having problems with iPhoto or using it for that matter, my problem is this; I want to be able to upload photos using Facebooks photo uploader instead of having to upload the entire album using the iPhoto uploader. My next problem is that I just purchased Pixelmator and it won't let me open photos from my iPhoto library. The only photos I can access are the ones from Photo Booth. So, how do I 'unlock' my iPhoto library so that I can actually access my photos? HELP!!!

To up load selected photos to Facebook (or any other supported service) select the photo(s) and click on the service name in the tool bar - it will create an album in the source pane on the left and up load to the selected service. Any changes made to the album on the service or in iPhoto will be synced so they always stay the same
TO access your photos in any open/attach window look in the lower left hand corner under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto (*the media browser) - click here for a discussion on the many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto library photos.
