Help with Calendar Invitation Alerts - Odd Situation

Hi everyone, I'll make it short and with facts of what I have done.
The Facts:
My wife has an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1) and has her Gmail Email and Calendar setup as an exchange account in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings.
I have an iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) and also have my Gmail Email and Calendar setup as an exchange account in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings.
We both use our Gmail email as the email account associated with our Apple ID.
We both have Calendar Alerts fully activated on Notifications Center (same exact selections) and have also marked "New Invitation Alerts" as "On" in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings.
We both have selected "Push" on the "Fetch New Data" Setting.
We both have iCloud accounts but do not use the email nor the calendar functions of iCloud (we want to use Gmail).
If we create our own events in our own Calendars and set a reminders (for example "at the time of the event", we both get the alerts/notifications normally.
To summarize, I have gone item by item on both iPhones to make sure we have the same selections on every setting.
The problem:
If my wife creates an event on her phone and invites me (rememer gmail to gmail accounts with same configuations in both iPhones), I do not get any type of notification.  The event will just show up on my iPhone Calendar greyed out until I accept it, but there is no type of notification (no popup notification and sound, no badge icon even though both are turned on in the settings of notification center an no pending invitations in the "Invitations" tab in the Calendar App).
However, If I create an event in my iPhone 4 and invite my wife, she will instantly get a pop up notification, with the sound alert she chose and her Calendar will pop open once she presses the pop up and the "Invitations" tab of the Calendar app will show up for her to accept the event.  Everything works fine with here iPhone!  The problem seems to be related to my iPhone since if it was a Gmail problem, my wife would also be having the problem.  Again, this problem is only when receiving invitations on my Calendar, because if I create my own event and set a reminder, it will function (alert) me as it should.
I don't know what else to do!  Any ideas of how I can resolve this?
Thanks!

I recently upgraded to iOS 6 both mine and my wife 4S.
We are in the same situation of Javier: bot with GMail (Google Apps on different domains), IMAP for Mail, Exchange for contacts and calendar.
I am sure invitations worked fine with iOS 5, but now they stopped working with the iOS upgrade.
Switching mail to Exchange solves the calendar problem, but Push is not working properly with new iOS...
I was thinking to:
- change calendar settings from Exchange to GMail, or
- exclude Calendar from Exchange and try CalDAV account.
Should it work?
Ciao
Paolo

  • Issues with calendar invites from Outlook address that come to my gmail on iPhone

    I have been trying for HOURS to get to the bottom of this iPhone calendar invite problem I'm having. I'll try to summarize.
    I LOVE iCal and I want to continue using it. Though I have a personal mid-2010 Macbook Pro, I don't use it too much (my company functions solely on Windows). I almost exclusively use my iPhone 4S for calendar purposes. Yes, my calendar is synced up to iCloud. I have a gmail account as my primary apple ID and my mail account on the iPhone is synced with gmail. I've been very annoyed lately as I have been receiving a lot of calendar invites from a friend who has Outlook, and I cannot accept or decline when I received her invite. The events are added to my calendar, grayed out.
    After much research, I realized that I had to setup my gmail account as an Exchange account on my iPhone, which I did. I then sent myself a test invite from Lotus Notes, and low and behold, I can now accept and decline!
    ..but I am VERY particular about my calendar organization, and I want to be able to choose which calendar the event is added to; however, it is added to my exchange (gmail) calendar, I guess because it was received on the gmail server. I want my calendar invites to be received on my ios device calendar! I don't know if having people use my .me account would help, but I don't want to tell everyone to change the email address to which they send me notifications, because I want to continue to receive mail at my gmail account (like the many calendars, I have many folders there and have everything set up the way I want it).
    I get emails concerning work, events, tennis matches, etc via my gmail account, and I want to sort them to the correct calendar when the invite comes to my gmail while STILL maintaining the functionality to accept and decline invites.
    Is this a crazy question?

    I posted this question a while ago and didn't receive any responses but there are a lot of people who have viewed it and 10 have said they have the same question so I thought I would update you that I added my nanny to my exchange server account (created an email for her) and I send all invites to that email address and they work.  So sending invites from an exchange server account to a non-exchange server account apparently is a bug so to solve it, get on an exchange server I guess.

  • Issue with Calendar Invites after changing a user's name

    Hey all,
    Strange issue we are having (Exchange 2007). One of the employees got married and had a name change. I changed the name in AD Users & Computers, updated the mailbox, etc. Now, when someone invites her via an Outlook Calendar Invite, she gets a "Cannot
    Download Attachment" error on her iPhone. This isn't happening to anyone else and only started happening after the name change.
    Was there something else I may have missed? I made sure that the person who was inviting her wasn't seeing the old address in her address book because of caching, so that doesn't appear to be the issue.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
    The error description is related to attachment. Please confirm whether there is an attachment in the meeting request to the problematic user. Try to receive the meeting request in OWA to check whether the issue occurs. Maybe the issue is caused by large
    attachments download using mobile.

  • Help with Calendar Alerts

    I use Google calendar synced to my Apple devices (MacBook Pro, iPad 2, iPhone 4s).  The default calendar alerts from the Google calendar itself seem to dominate any attempt I make to change alerts on any devices.
    Any time I try to change an alert time, it immediately reverts back to the default alert from Google.  This is starting to **** me off and it makes me think that Apple is trying to discourage the use of Google calendar.  I would hope not... Any help?

    I have the same issue.
    There was another posting saying that alerts could be turned off in Gmail.  But my goal is not to shut down alerts, but to have the default alerting be "none" and to be able to manually set an alert in those special cases where the event warrants one.
    Any suggestions are greatly welcome.

  • Need help with Calendar, nothing seems to be working!!!!!!!

    Ok, I have been everywhere and can't seem to figure this out. About 6 months ago my calendar stopped syncing with outlook. It sync's 4,219 entries but my phone has over 6,000 entries! For some reason it won't sync everything. I am using DM 4.5 because I was having problems with 4.7. My OS is 4.5.138. I have my options on DM to do a one way sync from device to Outlook, when it starts to sync it only shows 4219 entries are syncing.
    When I go under options and look at the CICAL there are none. My calendar entries are all saved under the default calendar but I don't know what that is. Can anyone help me figure out how to sync my phone to outlook. It's been frustrating the past 6 months!!!

    Do a search on your hard drive for *.pst Once your get the results view the properties of the one with the current date. Althought you might not have go over the 2gb limit (because Outlook would probably won't open!) I would still check if you're not near the limit. If so, do some cleaning to lower the size of your pst file.
    Also try to see if there's not a common pattern for items that fail to sync. (i.e.: missing email address, duplicate names, etc..)

  • New email with calendar invite switches active Space

    I just installed Snow Leopard on my iMac. When I get an email with a calendar item attached, the computer moves to the Space where Mail is located permanantly (Space #2). I've looked at the Spaces, Mail and iCal preferences and can't see anything that would prompt this. It doesn't happen when I get regular emails. Any help on this? Thanks!

  • Need some help with Calendar on my iPhone.

    Ok folks. Need some help and it may be basic, but I'm struggling with it.
    My wife and I both have iphone 5's. Both phones share one iCloud Id and one Apple ID.
    So, how do we share information across the apple calendar app?
    If I add something to my cal. It does not go to her. How can we get them to sync?
    Please help!!!
    Thank You!!

    Two things to check by putting the two iOS devices side-by-side.  First, check in Settings > iCloud to assure that you are indeed both using the same iCloud login.  Also, check that calendar is toggled on.
    Then, check Settings > "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars".  Scroll down to the calendars section and assure that your iCloud calendar is set as the "Default Calendar".
    Then, check that Settings > "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" > "Fetch new data" is set to something suitable.  Note that "Push" will be best for iCloud.
    Lastly, open Calendars app, touch "Calendars" at the bottom, and assure that iCloud calendar is checked so it is visible.
    Then give you calendars a try again making sure that you are posting calendar events in the iCloud calendar.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help with Calendar sync

    Hello
    If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. I have a Curve 9300 and am using desktop manager 6.0.
    I believed what happened is as follows:
    I sync'ed my 9300 witn my Outlook 2003 before setting up any email accounts. This created a calendar on my phone called "Default".
    I then added 2 email accounts, my hotmail and my web-based work email, which created 2 new calendars on the phone. Thus 3 calendars.
    My phone recognizes my hotmail calendar as being the default (CICAL).
    I can't add to my default calendar from the phone. I can only add to it by adding to my Outlook calendar and then syncing with my phone.
    More importantly anything I add to my hotmail calendar on the phone DOES NOT sync with my Outlook. I've read several forum postings and can't seem to find exactly what to do to reslove this and be able to sync calendars. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Sorry. My carrier is Telus. My OS is v5.0.0.832.

  • Need very basic help with calendar - I am such a beginner!!!

    OK, I apologize in advance if this is a very silly question. But I'm new to all this stuff and really have no clue as to what I'm doing.
    I just got a brand new iPhone. It's great! I am using the calendar feature that came with the phone. But I can't figure out how to make it "talk" to my husband's calendar. He uses Microsoft Outlook. I've skimmed through lots of articles about Microsoft Exchange... but I don't have any Microsoft programs. I am a stay at home mother, and have been out of the technology loop for a while. It looks like I need a Microsoft Exchange account? I can't figure out how to get Microsoft Exchange, and if it's going to cost a fortune.
    I'm not even sure where to find which software is on my phone! There is no "about this phone" button that I can find. It's brand new, I think it was 3S and is 16GB if that helps.
    Can someone please save me from myself?
    Thanks!

    You could have the TC join your existing wireless network as a client, or you can can connect the Time Capsule's WAN port to the modem/router.
    In both cases the TC's "connection sharing" should be set to "Off (Bridge Mode)".
    If the TC "joins" the wireless network you can only back up over your wireless connection, so the second option is preferable.

  • Help with Party Invitation made in IMovie

    Hi I have created an awesome invitation on imovie for a party. I tried sending it out as an email but was compressed and no one could read it. So I thought I burn it on lightscribe DVD's. Never done this before. Since this was made on a MAC when I burn these DVD's will my friends who don't own a MAC be able to view the DVD on a windows format computer?
    Thanks for any help

    Since this was made on a MAC when I burn these DVD's will my friends who don't own a MAC be able to view the DVD on a windows format computer?
    Are you burning them for playback on a commercial DVD player or as data files for playback on a computer? If for computer playback, from the disc or from the computer hard drive? What compression format? Do the recipients have the same version of the QT Player installed or a version compatible with the compression format you plan to use?

  • Need help with Calendar

    Hi There,
    I have a BB 8310 from AT &T (complete morons) who had me update my BB software to 4.5 today and also update the desktop manager to 4.6.  Prior to that no one said anything about doing a Backup & Restore so once all was done after hours of time wasted (I hate the new look).  Anyways, I realized that all my contacts were in my Yahoo email so once I synced I was able to retrieve them.  However, my calendar is saved in MS Outlook which I haven't used for email in over 3 years.  My outlook is connected to an old email address which has been cancelled years ago.  How do I get all my calendar to sync from outlook to my BB?  Please help as it will save me lots of time.
    Also, why is my BB Messenger stuck under a folder called "Applications" and how do I move all those out of the folder and onto my home screen?
    Finally, how do I get a home screen where I can see upcoming appointments and messages (as I used to before this dumb update)?
    Thanks,
    Rani

    For moving application to the home screen select/highlight desired icon -> click Menu -> Move to Folder -> Home
    To get to see upcoming appiontments you need to have a theme. In your previous OS different theme called 'Today' was doing the thing for you. You can have a google search for having that theme.

  • Need help with Calendar class

    I am writing a class that does the following:
    Uses JComboBoxes so that the user can select Day, Month, and Year. I have the months set up January through December. When I choose a month, I wrote a subclass that gets the chosen month and enters the correct number of days in the Day ComboBox.
    Here is some sample code:
    // This code is in the main class
    monthList.addActionListener(new SelectedMonth());
    // This code is in the SelectedMonth subclass
    selected = monthList.getSelectedIndex();
    switch(selected) {
    case 0: // for January
    dayList.removeAllItems();
    g.set(Calendar.MONTH, selected);
    max = g.getActualMaximum(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH);
    for(int i = 1; i <= max; i++) {
    dayList.addItem(new Integer(i));
    This code is repeated for Cases 1 through 11 to cover the other months.
    After Day, Month, and Year are selected, I click an OK button and then want to send the chosen Day, Month, and Year to a database. So, I have another subclass which uses ActionListener and gets the data from the Month, Day, and Year ComboBoxes.
    However, I get runtime errors when retrieving the chosen Day using the following command:
    String fromDay = (String)dayList.getSelectedItem();
    Because the Days were put put into the Day JComboBox in a subclass, this doesn't want to work.
    Does anybody have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    If you would like to look at all of my code, leave your e-mail address and I'll let you have a look.
