Help with choosing Export quality CS4 souce sony handcam hybrid

I am having trouble getting a good quality once I export my sequence . I have tried different formats and none of them seem to be as good as the original source video.  I am using a sonyhandycam hybrid with the quality set at 9m HQ.  What would be a good project setting and a good formant and options to export for the best quality? I would like the best quality I can get for a DVD, I sometimes do some uploading to youtube so any tips on that would be good as well.  But my main focus is best quality for a DVD.
Thank You!

Thank you for your advise but how can I get very good quality on DVD then.
as long as your project is <60min, iDVD will create best quality technically possible (=using the highest bit-rate, 9MBit/s) standards allow .
it is not a prob of the tool, but the standards. your source is 1920x1080, a DVD can contain only 720x480 ..
if you want 'higher' delivery-quality, consider BluRay (hmmm?) or a MediaPlayer (AppleTV, WD TV, PS3, .. )

  • Help With Choosing The Technology

    Hello,
I need help in choosing the appropriate technology for the application that I'm going to be creating.
The characteristics of the system that have been decided until now:
Standalone app built on either Flex/Flash/AIR
Restricted to using the system on a single computer, hence can be a tightly coupled system
The server component of the system needs to be closed source and robust, for which im thinking something like a Java backend, etc, etc.
In a completely new environment, all that i need to be able to do is install just the AIR application and not worry about installing extra stuff for the server support.
Thanks In Advance for anyone who can help me out with this.

If you are saying you want the server component to be on the same machine as the Flex app, then your choices are severely limited due to the sandbox, unless of course you are using AIR, then you can just use the SQLite database.
But if there will be a sevrer component on another machine on the web, you could use BlazeDS, and like I said, its free and very robust.

  • Help with getting high quality DVDs from AVCHD footage

    Hello,
I know enough about video editing with PE7 to be dangerous, and was hoping someone could help me out.
My question is regarding getting the highest quality standard DVD from AVCHD footage. I have a Sony HDR-SR12 camcorder recording in AVCHD. I am editing footage natively in AVCHD with PE7 on a quad core system. No problem with that. However, when I export to standard DVD the quality of the video goes down drastically. (Yes, I know burning to Blu-ray would give me higher quality, but I am giving this DVD to a friend who doesn't have Blu-ray).
So far I have tried starting my project in both HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel:
    General
    Editing mode: HDV 1080i
    Timebase: 29.97 fps
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 1440h 1080v (1.333)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)
    and Full HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel:
    General
    Editing mode: HD 1080i
    Timebase: 29.97 fps
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 1920h 1080v (1.000)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
But I see no discernable difference in the quality of my output onto DVD.
This is where my knowledge is lacking...how can I get the best quality output from my AVCHD onto a standard DVD? Is there some format I can convert to first, and then burn to DVD? Also, I am willing to break the footage into a couple of DVDs to improve the quality, but I don't know how or what to do for that.
My footage looks REALLY great when viewing from the HDR-SR12 direct to HD TV with HDMI cable, but not very good on the DVD. My footage is of a ballet recital, and I lose definition in the faces, costumes, etc on the DVD output.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
    Gina

    Hey Gina,
This may be a year late, but as I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve this problem for the last 48 hours I finally did find somewhat of a work around, but it requires Adobe PP CS4.2.
    There is a plug-in here:
    http://www.mainconcept.com/site/prosumer-products-4/mpeg-pro-hd-7850/features-7861.html
Which will actually output your edit as an AVCHD file. You can then burn this straight to an AVCHD using Nero 9 and keep the highquality level of your clips and not need Blu-Ray. The DVD player will need to be AVCHD capable, but I just bought one of those for $40 as compared to the $200+ of most Blu-Ray players.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards,

  • Need help with the export settings on FCPX

I recently upgraded to Final Cut Pro X from Express and am loving all the new features and capabilities that come with it. I just helped a friend with filming and editing a play at his school. After I finished editing it, the final MOV file is about 11 GB. Pretty big. When I try to put that file into iDVD to try to burn a DVD, my Mac begins to heat up really fast and I'm worried that this might overheat the processor.
I've tried other means of compressing the file without losing quality, like Handbrake, but to no avail.

I assume, your Project is ~20min, correct?
You exported a Master File = proRes, FCPX' internal intermediate  codec, not meant for 'distribution'.
Choose one of the 'Apple device' presets in the share dialogue, in the drop-down options, change device to 'computer' to create a 'universal' mp4.
    concerning 'heat':
Don't use your laptop in bed while doing tasks with high computation.
The bottom of device is needed for cooling.
    Any 'soft' surface prohibits that…
If Mac really gets too hot, it will automatically switch-off - no worries..........

  • Help with Flash Export Process:

    Hi all.
I'm using Flash CC on a Windows 8 system. The specs are i7-3770, 12GB RAM, 128GB SSD, etc.
When we create flash animations, we look at the SWF and it looks fantastic.
YouTube unfortunately doesn't accept SWF as a valid file type.
This is where things start to get hairy.
Someone suggested I export PNGs as a sequence along with the audio and then add these to a program such as Adobe Premiere or After Effects.
Is it normal for a 5 minute animation @ 30fps to take nearly 5 hours to export the PNGs?
I'd like to think my system is strong enough to do it a bit quicker than this.
FYI - Flash CC no longer has the ability to export as a PNG sequence (Flash Pro CS6 still has it).
I tried using export > video in Flash CC to generate an MOV.  This creates an MOV that is 12GB+.
I can't believe a 5 minute MOV could even become that large.  I then use the Adobe Media Encoder to compress the MOV into an MP4.  This works no problem but no matter what settings I try, the colors don't seem as vivid as the SWF.
Everything has this slight dullness to it and I can't figure out why.  Both the MOV with the huge file size and the compressed MP4 lack the vividness in color the SWF has.
Can anyone here share with me the export process they use for an HD animation that can be uploaded to YouTube?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sean

I used whatever the default settings would be as this was a fresh install of Flash CC.  I didn't make any adjustments. I just click FILE > EXPORT > EXPORT VIDEO
It made an MOV on my Desktop.
I'm home now and have checked some things and this is what I'm finding.
When you are in Flash CC and click FILE > EXPORT > EXPORT VIDEO and choose a path, an MOV is made that is gigantic.  This gigantic file actually looks like it's supposed to.
It's when I convert the MOV to MP4 where the colors become washed out.
You can see it in the examples attached.
One is washed out (b) and the other isn't (a).
The washed out one was converted from MOV to MP4 using Adobe Media Encoder CC with the "Match Source - High Bitrate" preset.
How can I get the MP4 to come out with the same colors as the MOV?

  • Help with Saving & Exporting Files.

Ok, so I've gone on these forums and on google trying to find a solution to this.
But none of the solutions they had given worked...And frankly making my own is easier to find. XD
    But anyways.
I just got Adobe Illustrator CS3 today.
It is the portable version; I don't know if tthat would make a difference since the options are still available.
But when I try to save the image, it doesn't matter what I try to save the file as, it says an error occured and it couldn't save the file.
And now I'm trying to export it into Photoshop CS4 (Also Portable but again, all of the options are available.) so I can color it. (Its a inked drawing of a previously lead drawing.)
When I try to export it; I get a message saying I do not have enough memory to save the file. Which I have a tetrabyte hardrive that isn't even nearly full.
What's going on with saving and exporting???
And I've read about people copying and pasting the different layers into Photoshop, if thats what I have to do, thats OK...But could someone please explain to me how I can do that?
    Thank you. :]

No kidding and thi character is on the forum asking for help?
BTW when you install this cracked version be aware that these very beneficent care takers of the public rights have also probably installed spyware on your computer.
Also errors etc. are expected and there is no cure except to contact those you got the sold you this stuff  and even if it is free once you do they will find a way to use the spyware.
    Enjoy it.

  • Help with image analysis Photoshop CS4 Extended

Hi there - I recently went to the Birmingham NEC photo expo and saw a guy there giving a CS4 extended demo.  He showed how at the click of a button a folder of new photos were reduced to a smaller bunch of just the most tack-sharp ones.  I can't find out how to do this with my CS4 Extended - can anyone help - or am I just imagining it all  :-)))

    Sounds interesting.
Did he do that in Photoshop itself or Bridge or Lightroom?
Anyway, I suspect one could maybe achieve something like this in Photoshop with some fairly heavy Scripting, but I suspect the Script would have to actually open the images for analysis …

  • Help with choosing the right specifications for a Macbook Pro Retina?

    Opinions needed....
So I'm new to Macs, but I know what I want to achieve and I feel this is the right route to choose. I'm looking at delving into the world of music production, using Logic pro 9 and garageband, but I also enjoy watching High definition Movies and televison so I know that the Retina display is definatley the right choice for me. However, I'm unsure on the amount of RAM & Which processer I should choose. I have read a fair bit on forums and online about the new retina macbooks being 'locked' from upgrading, so the 16GB of RAM is an immediate choice for logetivity.
The choice of processor is when I start to become clouded in my choice. As forementioned, I'm looking at running logic pro, as well as high def movies. There is also a possibilty at looking into photo and video editing, Whether that be in final cut pro or photoshop... But I want to leave my options open.
I think the choice of 16GB of RAM, 2.6Ghz processor, with a 256GB hard drive ( as i have 1.5TB external space) would be a good choice. Once I've added on applecare that comes out at around £2350, Which is a significant investment, but one that I think will help me immensely for the future. I am interested in other peoples opinions on my possible choice because, as I said before, I'm new to the world of Macs and making the right choice is essential. As a side note, the choice of upgrades also ensures a reasonable resale value, which is a bonus.
    Regards

Both power adapter I have are different (at the magnet end) from the one in link.
Earlier adapters have T shaped connectors, which Apple later changed to the L shape, presumably to make them more abuse-proof. Either one is fine and the one you are using will not damage your Mac.
Retina MBPs and new MBAs use a completely different MagSafe 2 connector which will not fit (without an adapter).

  • Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation

My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.

  • Help with PDF export

    Hi,
I'm a beginner with InDesign, and I need help badly. I've gone through lots of threads with no solution yet.
Earlier today I exported an InDesign file to PDF and parts of the document with black text went to gray. It's been that way since, even in the original InDesign document. I don't know if it's just a color thing. If I change the color to red it simply looks like a "light" red. When I'm  scrolling down the page it looks black, so long as I'm holding down and scrolling. Does anyone have a solution to getting my "light" font to be rich with color again. All of my black text is gray!
    Thanks in advance.

No, I didn't make any changes. How do I find the opacity?
Does the opacity not show when you scroll? It may very well be the opacity, because it looks the same even in PDF. But then it doesn't explain how some parts look like opacity has changed and then some parts look completely normal.
EDITED TO ADD: THANK YOU SO MUCH. I FIXED IT.
It took me hours. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • Help with photo import quality in iMovie!

The resolution of the iPhoto (5.0.2) pics once dragged into iMovie (5.0.4) severly deteriorates on my iMovie project. The photos are 21 inches widecrystal clear JPEGS in iPhoto, Preview and Photoshop, except once dragged onto iMovie they look blurry and pixely. My digital camera is a Sony 7.2 (shot pixs at 5M)
Playing project footage on full screen in iMovie looks this way as well. So it is not just the import still shot on the clipboard that looks bad.
How do I fix this problem to get clear quality ?

Create your iMovie project in a high quality format (choose the highest one possible) and then the pics you import will be imported in a high quality. iMovie automatically adjusts the quality of your pics and movies based on the quality of the iMovie project you are creating.
I'm not sure what you mean by "a high quality format", hlokty. Are you referring to the iMovie Playback preference, which lets you pick one of three playback settings?
If so, note that preference does NOT affect the quality of the imported image. It has no affect on the quality of project clips like video, photos, or anything else. The preference only affects playback in iMovie itself. Low quality improves the playback smoothness. High quality improves the playback image.
If should be noted that iMovie NEVER shows us all the quality that's there, for either video or photos. That must be kept in mind when viewing photos imported to iMovie. It's important to not judge quality by what you see in iMovie. iMovie is a video editor, not a video player.
There are many Topics here discussing photo quality. To find them, search for words like "blurry" and "jaggies".

  • Best export quality for the Sony Alpha 65

I have the sony alpha 65 which I have left in the default settings when I got it.
I have some footage which I have exported however I don't think the quality is as good as when viewing the original video off the cam.
Any suggestions on the sequence settings and export settings?
    thanks

What format does the Alpha 65 shoot, and what CODEC is used?
The Sequence Setting should match that footage. In lieu of knowing that info (one really should know), a user can Import it into a Project, and then drag a Clip to the New Icon, to create a matching Sequence:
