How do you connect Flash Builder to a NON-LOCAL PHP Server?

Is it possible to connect Flash Builder 4 to a non-local PHP Server? In my case, I want to connect to a PHP server on my web-host (similar to GoDaddy).
This seems like a really stupid question, but every single tutorial or forum post I've Googled in the past 2 hours talk about how easy this is but all of them use "...localhost..." in the Root URL and I can't find anywhere in Flash Builder to enter FTP style credientals!
I do not want to turn my PC into a PHP/SQL/IIS server. I want to be able to do all of my work remotely as I do with Dreamweaver.
I've been trying to do this one simple thing for the better part of 2 days and can't believe how under-documented this feature is.
Please please please help!

Upload your services to a directory on your host, upload your remoting app (Zend AMF etc) and configure it, then change the end point in your code to the gateway.php on your server:

Help with my Flash Builder code.

I am getting two errors, well four but three are the same. 1083 && 1084.

I have been trying to figure this out for a while now. Please help.

Not to be nasty or "harass", but you need to go back and learn the syntax. Each line of code should end with a semicolon, and I'm also not sure what you are trying to accomplish with your "else{(userName != "requestofone")". Are you trying to do a conditional test? If so you need to use an "else if". That said, the "else if" you do use is incorrect. The parens should come out side the curly braces like you did for the initial "if" condition, and the "else if" needs to come before your final "else" since that is where the flow will go when no previous condition is met.
Example:
if (a == b){
trace("do something");
else if (b == c){
trace("do something different");
else{
trace("do some default thing");

Connect Flash Builder 4 to remote PHP service

Hello i have seen some videos that explained how easy is connect Data/Services to local PHP server, and then extract the methods instantly. Also binding it to a datagrid, and everything was with wizard, easy and fast.
I would like to do the same but my problem is that i always work with remote PHP (not localhost), and i don't know how to connect flash builder 4 to my remote PHP class.
PS: I know how to do it manyally, but then i would not use the power of the wizards.
¿Is there any solution?

I though that maybe the solution is on mount a virtual folder that connects to my httpdocs via FTP (problem is that in mac os it lets you create virtual folders but only in read mode)...

Help with a flash html inserting into DW

Hello,
I have created a enquiry section in flash for one of my html DW pages for my site. When I publish the flash doc ti creates a html page (Contact.html). When I open the flash html page in DW or upload it to my server, everything works fine. I recieve an email at my prefered destination etc etc. But as its only a section of my contact page of my website i need to insert it into my site page (get_in_touch.html) soon as i try and take all the stuff from contact.html and insert it into a div in my get_in_touch.html it doesn't respond when the submit button is pressed..... Can someone please help!!!!!

The page which has the flash on it (yes this one again!) Well if someone
goes to the page with out having flash player installed on their machine,
i'm looking for some script to detect that there computer doesn't have
Flash and redirect them to another html page I've created.
Would really appreciated any advice you may have.

Help with Dreamweaver flash image viewer

Hi all
Would like some help with Dreamweavers Flash image viewer.
Everything is working properly except when i try to link a picture, and have set the imagelinkTarget value to _blank the link always navigates away from my site and does not open in a new window.
I have tried all the values for the imageLinkTarget and nothing works..

I just googled and found lots of folks with the same problem. One fellow wrote this as a soluton:
"All you have to do is
remove the values from the imageLinks in the flash element. That
should fix it."

I need help with the conditional build tag option. I want to apply CBT to content in a topic. I looked at the Help topics and believed that I applied the feature correctly. Howver, it is not working as desired. In the 2nd sentence below I want the text highlighted in blue to only appear for the printed output and the text printed in purple to only appear for the .htm /online output. Please help.

Using tagging is a two part process.
Part One
You create and apply the tags to the information you wish to control.
Part Two
You create a Build Expression that is used when you generate your output. The Build Expression typically reads something like: NOT Tag1 (or whatever your tag name is)
Then when you generate and use the Build Expression, the information tagged is not included in the build.

Connecting Flash Builder with ColdFusion Server 9 Locally

Man this is a real a hassel and should be easy as hell.
I am trying to do a simple connection to the local coldfusion server with the beta 2 Flash Builder -- FlexBuilder 4.
It sould be simple. I have the local webserver be IIS (INetpub>WWWRoot)
The coldfusion server is (C:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot\WEB-INF\flex).
The services-config.xml is in that directory. So I must admit I am lost......
Any Ideas what I may have over looked?
The Error That I get is: Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml.

I changed the path to the coldfusion server to (C:\ColdFusion9\).
Now it works..........Go Figure!

Help with flex4unit ant build.xml: Socket timeout waiting for flexunit report

I'm having trouble setting up ant to build and test my project locally and I'm not sure what the next step is.
Info:
Running on XP/Cygwin.
All of the files that FlexUnit4 references when used in Flash Builder are in my '${basename}/libs' folder (eg FlexUnit4_1.0.swc).
I've placed the flexunit4 task in my ant/libs folder.
I'm getting two errors...
I don't think I've set up the 'socket' stuff right for the tests. It just sits and waits then dies...
[flexunit] Waiting for client connection ...
(about a minute later)
[flexunit] Stopping server ...
[flexunit] End of test data reached, sending acknowledgement to player ...
[flexunit] Closing client connection ...
[flexunit] Closing server on port [1024] ...
BUILD FAILED
java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: Socket timeout waiting for flexunit report
Plus this is the error I get from the flash player:
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable mx.skins.spark::BorderSkin is not defined.
I don't know why it's complaining about Borderskin as I think I have included all the flex4 libs I could find. I suspect this second error is causing the first error?
Any help appreciated. I think I'm just setting it up all wrong.

Finally got everything working using the files from the CI Example which what i probably should have done in the first place.
So a rough guide for anyone just starting out with this:
Download the Flex 4 'workspace' from the digital primates hudson server . This appears to contain flexunit library and examples in various stages of development.
I used Flex Builder 4 Beta 2 to set up my Test Suite and Test Cases.
I then loaded the libs folder from:
workspace.zip\workspace\project\FlexUnit4SampleCIProject
into my flex project's libs folder:
this includes:
FlexUnit4.swc
FlexUnit4CIListener.swc
flexUnit4UIRunner.swc
flexTasks.jar
flexUnitTasks.jar
I didn't need to remove the FlexUnit4 stuff that is 'referenced' automatically by flash builder when you start adding flexunit4 tests/suites.
Then I used a modified version of the TestRunner.mxml found in:
workspace.zip\workspace\project\FlexUnit4SampleCIProject\src\test\flex
The lines to pay attention to are the ones that look like:

Just make sure you update this list to include all of the test suites &/or individual tests you want to run.
I made this a static function and modified the code in the "FlexUnitApplication.mxml" file to use this function so i'd only need to update one list of suites/tests.
FlexUnitApplication.mxml is generated automatically when you run FlexUnit4 tests in the Flash Builder 4 Beta 2 IDE.
This is the build.xml file I'm using in the project:

Change the name of the project from "Flare" to whatever and adjust the other path settings where required (though you might want to write this from scratch at least once so you understand roughly what is going on).
The Debug Flash Player must be installed on the server otherwise you'll get a:
java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: Socket timeout waiting for flexunit report
...while it waits for the non-existant debugger to attach. (This is obvious but I did forget and was a bit bewildered for a moment)
Need to also ensure the environment variable:FLEX_HOME is set to the location you installed the flex sdk...by editing your .bashrc setting the environment variable the in the Hudson Configuration.
You'll need to point Hudson at your ant installation and your jdk installation. If you downloaded he sdk, be aware you might need to point it to the jdk folder inside the place you installed the sdk.
And I think that's all the problems I had. Hope it's useful to someone... if anyone who actually knows what they are doing can point out any potential issues/better ways of doing things, feel free to comment.

The problem that I am running in to is SQL Server 2000 i have is Window Authentication so Does not required to enter user name and password. So how can i connect my report builder to SQL server or is it possible to connect Report builder to SQL server?
Also, I want to create small practice version of database in Oracle how do i do it? what i mean by that is I installed trial version or Oracle developer 10g from www.oracle.com and now trying to get some knowledge with oracle. Could any one can give me some direction in this matter please.

Have a look at the reports help for the purpose header and trailer sections. Here is an exert:
"Report sectioning enables you to define multiple layouts in the same report, each with a different target audience, output format, page layout, page size, or orientation. You can define up to three report sections, each with a body area and a margin area: the names of the sections are Header, Main, and Trailer. By default, a report is defined in the Main section. As you are starting at the beginning you may as well start with FB4. When you install FB4 you will find that its start page has links to documentation tutorials and examples through the tour-de-flex. There are some great blogs that continue to offer advice and examples, nothing beats well written examples for learning. If you are on face book there is an Adobe Flex page that is continually giving links to examples and information about e-seminars.
And of course there is here. So jump on board and have a bit of fun.

Help setting up Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP

I am looking for a concise set of steps for setting up ALL requirements for running Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP. I have been fighting for three days to get the TestDrive example up and running, with no success. At every step of the way I have encountered problems. I fought for a day and a half with MySQL. Then I fought for another day with PHP (Liip). Then I fought for another day with Zend. All along the way I have fought problems with Flash Builder and Flash Builder for PHP. I've had to relearn all of my UNIX shell commands (it's been a few years). I've tried using a remote server at 000webhost.com. I've tried using an old laptop for a server. I finally ended up trying to do it all on my main laptop. I have completely given up and am ready to dump my project altogether. Forget my students. They'll just have to live without what would have been a fantastic new way of learning.

I do not have a 'concise' answer for you - in fact I am not using FB 4.5 for PHP. I started using FB 4 around 8 months ago. I installed a 'WAMP' thing, called 'EasyPHP'. That actually went pretty smoothly. I did the whole thing on my personal laptop running Windows 7. I 'hooked up' FB to the PHP side using the built in data services wizards and such, as I imagine you are trying to do. I too had to 'fight' a bit, but found most of the answers scattered around the Internet. Had to tweak a few settings here and there in various files, and viola, it worked.
I have resisted upgrading to 4.5, and especially the 4.5 "for" PHP, only becuase of the great expense. It seems like a lot of money to pay for 'integrated, round-trip debugging'. I already can debug the PHP side 'independently' of the FB side (from inside the Eclipse+PHP plugin free toolset), which, for most SQL situations is good enough. I simply set up a 'test page' in PHP and use that to 'call' the various functions I write.
On the FB side, I gave up on using the 'built in data services wizard thingies' because they simply could not get the data-type mappings correct between the two sides. Also, the "value objects" things (really just a fancy data-object class definition) seeme overly complex and inflexible, i.e., they would re-code themselves after every change I made to the PHP side. I prefer a more 'lean' approach, and one that I control 100%. So far I am able to do everything I need using my own 'value objects' (simple classes).
So...as you can see, I may not be able to help much, but, if you can explain some of the details of what is failing, maybe I can provide a bit of assistance. From what I understand, the big difference between 4.5 and 4.0, at least on the PHP side, is that the 'introspector' is a bit more accurate now and of couse there is the 'round-trip' debugging and 'awareness of each other's objects/definitions' while in PHP or FB.
Finally, as best I can tell, after 8 months of 'experimenting' with Flex and PHP, there are simply not many people doing it, or, at least not that many doing it that participate on this forum and who have practical experience, especially with the more 'recent' releases, i.e., 4.0, 4.5. I would encourage you to scan the rest of the Internet...there *is* knowledge out there...but it can difficult and slow to get.

My take is , is your autopromote tuned on for the room. I mean whats
your user role when an user enters the room(who is not host), is it 10
or 50. If its 10 i.e. viewer , then he cant use his own cam etc. You
need to take a look at the logs when an user enters and if its 10 and
you want to give him these permissions, turn autopromote on from the
devconsole for the room to make his role 50 i.e. publisher.
I just now downloaded 2.5.1 AIR and created a new project with your
source and I am able to use everything.

First time posting here, but have been in the shadows for quite a while..
Anyway, i decided to finally take the plunge, and build my own PC, and now i'm beginning to hit a few bumps.
I have a couple of questions that i would like some help with, if possible to reassure myself i may be in the right direction..
I bought THIS PSU and was hoping someone could tell me where the Blue connectors (one labelled CP and one labelled U1) Connect to?
Is it into JPWR2? And does it/do they only connect in the correct way? (Do i remove the plastic cap and attach both?
and i bought THIS VIDEO/GRAPHICS CARD and i'm guessing the RED "PCI express" and "SLI ready" connect to that somehow (Haven't opened box yet for card)
Again, wondering is there a certain way for them to connect.
Also, from my chassis, the "AC '97" and "HDA" connectors go to JAUD (I guess), does it matter which one? (I currently have "HDA" connected)
I have i5 2500k already on board. (If that makes a difference).

Yep, connect the front panel audio to the JAUD. If you need the pin layout, it says in the manual. I would say the HDA connector is the one to connect.

Check all power connections, seating of the RAM and add-on cards, check the HSF is plugged into the fan header, and obvious things like that.
As for testing, enter the BIOS and make sure the CPU isn't running too hot. Set up the RAM with the required timings and voltage, and test with >>Memtest86<< for several hours. No point starting the Windows installation if say your RAM has errors, since it will corrupt files during the install, if it installs at all.
