Help with corrupted Photoshop elements 8 photos

My computer was infected by a virus that was deleted but the virus corrupted almost all
files in my computer. I had some documents backed up but not all current photoshop
files.
When I open photoshop the photos are there in the organizer but if clicked and opened they
become the broken photo icon. Other photos in my files show file extension not supported or recognized.
Any help to recover?
Can I restore to a previous version, all photos show altered 11/23/13 and show no previous
versions.
If I can't recover the photo files what happens when I uninstall and reinstall the program. Are
all photos gone? If so I guess I'll just start fresh with photos saved from about 1 year ago.
Learned my lesson to back-up often!

Have you got a backup of your original photos? If so then you can
recreate the catalogue very easily in less than 5 minutes. PSE always
leaves photos in their original location. they are not moved at all.
One should always backup photos, videos, documents, emails etc
separately from applications that created them in the first place.
Disasters happen and we can't always protect from them except to backup
as taught in computing 101 class.

Need Help With Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0

I have and use Adobe Acrobat and three versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements (2, 5 and 7). I use version 2 frequently as I'm more familiar with it and it's simpler to use for what I need to do. All was fine until recently when my computer was installed with Windows 8. Now I can't save photo edits from Version 2.0...... it aborts each time I try. Why is that? The first thing i would try is deleting the Photoshop Elements 2.0 Prefs folder as explained in the post #2 linked to below:

Does it happen when trying to save as any file format or just a certain one like jpeg?
Have you tried saving a photo to a different place like your desktop?

Help With Adobe Photoshop Elements Download and Installation

I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements yesterday and was sent the download link. I tried to download the product but one of the 2 files I need would not download and after a few attempts it blocked my access saying there were too many download attempts. Please help.

Help with installing photoshop elements 8 on vista

Hello all,
I am hoping someone will be able to help me..
I have purchased a copy of photoshop elements 8 from our local pc Store..
I have been trying to install it for days..
It starts off ok and then when I think its just completing it come up with a error saying... Photoshop was unable to install as it was interupted..
I have tried lots of things but nothing seem to work.. any advice would be brillant as I pulling my hair out here...

Can anyone help with Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 installation?

I initially tried the free trial of Photoshop Elements 13, but it wouldn't install. When I received an email suggesting I purchase the product on sale for USD 70. (ending January 3) I purchased it, and have now paid for it and received a serial number. On January 3, when I tried to install it, I was told downloading, extraction and installation were complete, but then it quit. I tried again, but only got as far as 'download complete.' I clicked on 'open bundle,' then got message beginning: "The file archive part of Adobe Photoshop Elements is missing..." I repeated the process and got the same message.
On January 5 I paid a computer professional to install it. He got it working and I actually worked on a couple of images, but it quit after about fifteen minutes, and I am getting the above message again.

Help with downloading photoshop elements 10

i've lost my disk one from photoshop elements 10, and just bought a new computer, so i'm trying to download it. however i've run into problems, and just wondering if anyone has advise for how to get this up and running please?

I downloaded the photoshop elements 10 to my computer, but when I try to run the setup I get an error message. Maybe I'm not running it correctly, I don't know. :/

Help with restoring Photoshop Elements 8 on a new hard drive on Mac

I had a new hard drive installed on my Mac, and I get an error message concerning the license for Elements 8 when I try to use it from the back up. I have gone to the website and tried all the fixes, and nothing works. I want to continue to use Bridge, which I hear is not totally compatible with Elements 120. How can I get a new license number or fix this problem?

Restoring the Elements 8 from the backup must had broke the licensing which can be fixed by re-installing.

Help with Adobe Photoshop elements 10 download

I have been trying for 3 days to download a copy of PSE 10. I have tried everything suggested in the forums with no luck. I even tried the direct download links and they did't work. I received a copy of PSE 10 from a promotion with EVGA. I can't understand why adobe makes it so difficult to downlaod programs. The Downlaod asistent is terriable. All I want is to downlaod the PSE 10 files. I have never had this much trouble with any product before. Adobe why not make it easier for us to try your products. If the failure in the ADA are common why not just correct that. As a share holder I am even less happy.

For the direct download links to work you need to follow the Very Important Instructions to the literal letter.

Remove Green Screen with Adobe Photoshop Elements

Hi,
I have setup a Green Screen in my home. I took some pictures of my wife with the Green Screen Background and want to remove the Green Screen and replace with a different background. I was able to do this via the Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 but need help with the Photoshop Elements.
Any help is appreciated.

FWIW, She is really easy to select on that green screen if you use a few tricks. The screen shots are in CS3 my preference but worked with Elements limitations to show you how easy she can be selected without any filters.
My end product doesn't look as good as Mark's though. That's a tough act to follow. Thought I'd post this anyway just in case you couldn't get that filter to work in Photoshop Elements 7,
First, make a copy of the image and desaturate it to make it black and white. I prefer using Hue/Saturation from the image menu (CTRL U) and moving desat slider down to -100. Next Invert it (CTRL I), then run levels from the image menu (CTRL L) to push the image towards pure white and black...well close. It should look something like this when these steps are done.
Copy this image to a new layer. (Just in case something goes wrong so you don't have to repeat the last steps). Leave the copy in Normal blend mode. Grab your paint brush tool. Set the brush tool's mode to Overlay blend mode. You will use black and white paint to push dark gray to black and light gray to white. When done, it should look something like this:
Not perfect...I did this really fast and was a bit sloppy and didn't get all of my light grays pushed to whites. Probably not a problem for the hair edges but would need to be fixed for face and body areas as this will be a mask to make the selection.
Select mask that was just made and copy it into your clipboard. Select<All; Edit<Copy. Create and adustment layer mask that has a mask. I used the Solid Color Fill Adjustment layer. Alt click the mask of the adjustment layer you created. It will turn the document white. This is because the mask is now the focus. Now paste. Edit<Paste. This will paste the above mask into the adjustment layer mask. Now, either alt click the mask or click on another layer to remove the focus from the mask. You'll use this adjustment layer as a base to a clipping mask. See next paragraph.
The Solid color fill layer (or whatever you picked) with your mask is going to be the base on which your selection will be built. Create a copy of your original image up above this base layer. Now, hold in the alt key and move your curser in the layers pallete to the line separating these two layers. Notice the cursor changes to an odd symbol...a solid ring and a hollow ring with an arrow. Click the palette on the line separating these two layers. (Release alt key when done.) She should now be covering the mask you created. Areas that are white in the adjustment layer mask will show the original image; areas in black in the adjustment layer mask will be transparent. (Areas that contain shades of gray would be semi-transparent...amount based on the gray's brightness value.)
For the green cast on the edges, I removed that by using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to remove the green spill over. If you only wanted to effect the girl and not a new background add it to clipping mask. (Same way...alt click the line between her image and the Hue/Saturation layer.)

In iPhoto it was possible to go into the iPhoto prefs and set up Elements as an external editor. After using “Edit in” the image was saved back to the iPhoto library. Photos for OSX is very new, so I’m not sure whether that is possible with the new app. Have you looked for the prefs/settings? You could ask a question on the Apple forum:

....partially resolved, in case anyone else with sim prob.....
....with Photoshop open you click "Open" (top left) and 'Finder' opens up in the window with 'Photos' listed.
Select which pic you want to edit (duplicates must be created first in 'Photos") and it opens in Photoshop Editor
It's all a bit messy but seems to work.

Yes, it is.
The easiest way for me is access the custom shape tool, and within that the Symbols library. You will find the copy right sign. Just drag it out. It will be on its own layer. Enter the rest of the info with the Type tool.
The symbol can also be found in the character map on a Windows system.
If you have multiple photos that you wish to mark, it is very efficient to make a copyright brush and apply with a click of the mouse.

That doesn't help the user with the serial code though.

Photoshop elements (photo editor) does not start

Photoshop elements (photo editor) does not start after replacement of the mainboard of the computer.
We uninstalled the software and reinstalled it but it still refuses to work.
System is Windows7 64 bits
