Help with Creative WebCam Live! Ultra for Notebooks.

Hi!
I have trouble with my camera and the Live! Cam Doodling software. The program say that the camera is not supported. Is there anyway that i not have an Live! camera model. On the backside of the camera the model number is : VF0070 Thanks in advance.

mikaelna,
I'm afraid your Live! Ultra webcam isn't compatible with the Live! Cam Doodling software.
Here's a few of the Live! Cam series webcam that works with the Doodling software.
1.Live! Cam Optia AF
2.Live! Cam Voice
3.Live! Cam Optia
4.Live! Cam Video IM Pro
5.Live! Cam Video IM Skype Edition
6.Live! Cam Video IM

  • High CPU usage, Live Ultra for Notebooks

I've been using the Live Ultra for Notebooks for a while, and it has consistently high CPU usage. It breaks down to about 50-60% for the driver (V0070Vid.sys thread, in the "System" process) and then a bit more (+5%) for DPC's. Combined with the host application (Skype, 25% CPU) means the whole thing essentially takes over my CPU.
Is this typical CPU usage for this webcam? I've used other ones, and I seem to remember that CPU usage was a lot lower. I have this problem on 2 different computers.
    AMD Sempron 300+
    GB Ram
    Windows 2000 SP4
Please post what webcam, CPU, OS, and about how much CPU % your webcam takes. I'd like to see if these results are normal. Thanks.

I also have a Toshiba laptop with Vista Home Basic. I tried to install the "BETA" Vista drivers for this camera (VF0070) and it says the driver is only for Vista 32-bit and 64-bit. Is there a solution to this? Should I just return this and go buy a Logitech instead?

  • Simple questions about the Live! Ultra for Notebooks webcam

    Hi there,
I don't have a notebook, but I have an LCD display and I'm thinking of getting a webcam. Does anyone know if the Live! Ultra for Notebooks can be clipped on something as thick as 3cm?
Also, does it have an in-built microphone, or is that all in the headset?
    Thanks in advance.
    Charlie

    Charlie,
The clip of the webcam can be stretch to approximately about .5cm only. Also, the microphone is not inbuilt into the webcam. It's on another seperate headset.

  • Help-Webcam live Ultra notebook w/ facetracker

Help. I just installed webcam live Ultra botebook, but everytime I try to disable face tracking, it automatically comes back on almost instantly. Is there a way to disable face tracking or a software addition that would allow manual control and zoom of camera?

Maybe you can try uninstall and reinstall the software.

  • VF0070 Driver crashes XP after hibernation (Webcam Ultra for Notebooks)

    Hello,
I own a Creative Webcam Ultra for Notebooks, Model VF0070. I found an issue with Windows XP's hibernation.
Situation: the Webcam is plugged in to my computer before switching off the computer into hibernate state, then unplugged while off and unavailable during restart.
In this case, Windows crashes into a blue screen, quoting the Creative driver as the cause.
    My system is:
Creative Webcam Ultra for Notebooks, Model VF0070
    Webcam driver V.0.5.27
Dell Latitude X (Intel Centrino chip set)
    Windows XP
    Skype as webcam application
Did anybody experience similar effects? Is there a workaround or a fix?
My current workaround is unplugging the webcam before hibernation. Or alternatively, taking care that I plug in the webcam _before_ waking up the computer from hibernation. But every once in a while I forget and XP crashes again.
    Thanks for any help,
    Bernhard

never mind i've sold my creative webcam pro ex to another idiot and going to buy a new one today, i looked at mediamarkt and saw some other creative (pro) webcams sold at almost the same price as my previous Creative Pro eX, however knowing how Creative thinks about updating drivers and misleading people saying the product is working with Windows XP when it does not, i will never ever in my entire life buy a product from Creative anymore..
think it's kinda stupid to say "hey my software is compatible with XP" when it's not and when it hassen't been updated for quite some time, do you live in 2005. you know XP has updated to SP2? right...
this expensive webcam has worked 7 months for me and now? it just keeps crashing my laptop saturating my USB, conflicting with [usbuhci] and then give a moran BSOD which i haven;t seen since windows ME :-s
the latest drivers for this webcam arren't signed and they do not work with Windows XP Professional SP2 so anyone who's planning to buy this webcam today, please buy it somewhere that has a return policy because this webcam was the best but now has become cripple.
one thing more, if you people at Creative are to busy with making money with products and don;t have time to develop working drivers then maybe consider giving out the source code so that serious developers are able to create working drivers for people that don't want to buy you're webcam every 7 months not because the webcam is broken, but because you where too lazy and money hungry just want to push people into buying yet another one of these webcams.
oh well not my problem anymore you will see someday the consumer strikes back and then you will be left with a magazine full of hardware nobody wants to buy cause the compagny doesn't provide updates on their own drivers and software..

  • Can't turn off face tracking on Live! Ultra for Notebooks

Please help! I've installed Live! Ultra for Notebooks and it works reasonably well, except for the fact that I can't turn off the Face Tracking feature.
When I installed everything, I selected "Smart", but I hate the way that the camera keeps panning off to different parts of the room. So, I just want to turn this feature OFF.
But every time I open the Face Tracking Utility, or go to the screen via "Tools," I can click "off". But, it doesn't actually turn off; the camera still keeps panning off to the far corners of the room. And the next time I access the Face Tracking Utility again, it has defaulted back to "Smart". Any suggestions on how to disable this feature?
    My system is as follows:
    Dell Inspiron 700M
Intel Pentium M 2.00 GHz processor
Windows XP Home Edition, service pack 2
Happy new year & thanks in advance..

Finally figured it out. In case anyone else has the same problem of your computer ignoring changes in the Face Tracking Utility screen, try this:
Go to Webcam Center. Click on "Capture" then the "Source" tab, one of two discrete grey tabs just above the video screen.
Under "Extended Settings" you have the options for face tracking: off, continuous or smart. Click it and your computer should actually hold onto this setting until you change it again!
    Good luck.

  • Creative Ultra for Notebook, white balance not working??

After years of use with my Creative Notebook Cam Pro I decided to upgrade and get the Ultra for Notebook because it's a CCD and works better in lower light conditions.
The drivers install fine however I cannot adjust the white balance nothing changes when I click apply. I have both 98SE and XP drivers installed and it appears that the bug is present in both sets of drivers.
This is a big disappointment because using this cam indoor with artificial lighting is next to being useless. Furthermore there's no saturation controls included in the drivers so I couldn't reduce the colour to b/w even if I wanted to.
As a product that's been on the market for nearly 2 years I'm surprised that no bug fixes have been issued for this problem I'm sure it's been mentioned before here?
Does anyone know if CLabs will fix the problem soon because as it stands this product isn't worthy of my time or money.
    Richard S.

It should be directly underneath the image preview - press the T key if it's not there.

  • Webcam Live Ultra conferencing

We're thinking about purchasing some of these webcams for internal use in our company. Can anyone tell me if they support many to one for conferencing or is it just one to one video?
    Thanks.

I have the same experience - in a low light-level environment,
the cameras deliver 2fps to 5fps.
    In a very bright environment,
the cameras deli'ver about 8fps to 25fps - but never more.
On the other hand, I realized that you can't get all the way to
30fps if your monitor refresh rate isn't exactly 60Hz or 90Hz.
Though my computer was ADVERTIZED as USB 2.0 and
my invoice states it has 6 USB 2.0 ports, chasing problems
with these cameras led me to discover they are USB . ports!
In device manager (or somewhere) it told me which chip was
the USB controller, and when I checked the intel website,
I learned the truth. My "webcam li've ultra for notebooks"
cameras did work in the USB . ports, but for some very
strange reason the camera [or driver] forced the images
into some horrible wacko compressed mode that showed
horrible blockiness at about every 8th or 6th pixel - and the
frame rate was stuck at fps to 2fps.
When I added a 5-port USB 2.0 PCI card to my computer and tried again,
the image blockiness vanished, and my frame rates rose
    to 5fps in not-very-bright indoor lighting, and up-to 25fps
    in so-bright-you-the-monitor-reflections-are-blazing.
So it is possible, anyway. My computer is 2.0 GHz P4,
    most importantly - with Windows2000. WindowsXP SP2
seems to be a problem - with creative webcams, and in
    many other ways.

  • I need help with setting up time machine for backup

I would like help with setting up time machine for backup.

You will need an external hard drive (formatted for a Mac).
Then you plug it in and go to system preferences>time machine and select the external HD and turn it on.
    The backups are automatic.

  • Creative Labs or Logitech for Notebooks?

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 notebook, so I'm comparing the Logitech Notebook Pro and the Creative Labs Live webcam. Does anyone have any information comparing these two or experience that they could forward along? Thanks.

I have a similar problem. I bought a Vision M for Christmas from Buy.com. I didn't realize they did not handle the warranty work
so I contacted Creative about month after the 90 day warranty was up. I sent in a request for assistance and got almost the exact same email that this person did about his daughter's battery. So, I emailed again. I got the EXACT same email from a person named "Lin". They must have so many problems with these things locking up and lack of firmware updates that they just hit a button and respond to people. THis is NOT customer service. I like the other person will try to find 250 people to influence, and not in a positi've way for Creative. Customer support should be more than just firing off form emails.

  • Big problems with creative webcam instant (sample included)

yesterday i purchased a creative webcam instant, and i am dissapointed in the quality of the video.
The frame rate is great, however there is artifacting and the video jumps around all over the place.
I have never had a problem with any other imaging devices before, so i cant see why this is happening with this camera.
This happens with the creative webcam center, and also in any other application that uses video from the camera (such as any instant messenger program)
Here is a .88 meg file to show you how the video jumps around.

Blah! The WEBCamInstant is "cheap" & nasty & for beach light only.
    1. You have a USB-2?

    2. Try in WebCamCenter - Capture - Source - Exposure to Min. Too dark?
