Help with data mining add ins-excel 2010

I've wasted hours of my life now trying to figure out how to establish a connection on the data mining add in on excel 2010. I have installed and re-installed the microsoft sql server 2012 express multiple times and don't understand what it takes
to get this to work...Do I need SQL server and why? Do I need to download the adventureworks data file and why? (For some reason I was able to download it properly on my first sql server install, but when I went to work the data mining connection it
said the SQL browser must be connected...What???...I thought it was connected...there are no instructions on how that is fixed...Now I have reinstalled sql 2012 but can't download adventureworks...it says it can't
establish a connection...I am beyond the point of frustration)...I'm not a developer or know anything about code/programming, so a lot of the lingo is way over my head anyway when I am searching for troubleshooting solutions...I just want to be able to use
this feature in excel and it is upsetting me that I can't get it to work. I have followed step by step instructions, watched youtube videos, etc...nothing doing...If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps you are meaning the timeout settings for your Analysis Server -- under Properties, General, DatabaseConnectionPoolConnectTimeout defaults to 60. Though I doubt that browsing any model should take 60 seconds. Try browsing the model
from Management Studio and seeing if you also need a lot of time.

Is there a Java utility class to help with data management in a desktop UI?
I am writing a UI to configure a network device that will be connected to the serial port of the computer while it is being configured. There is no web server or database for my application. The UI has a large number of fields (50+) spread across 16 tabs. I will write the UI in Java FX. It should run inside the browser when launched, and issue commands to the network device through the serial port. A UI has several input fields spread across tabs and one single Submit button. If a field is edited, and the submit button clicked, it issues a command and sends the new datum to the device, retrieves current value and any errors. so if input field has bad data, it is indicated for example, the field has a red border.
Is there a standard design pattern or Java utility class to accomplish the frequently encountered, 'generic' parts of this scenario? lazy loading, submitting only what fields changed, displaying what fields have errors etc. (I dont want to reinvent the wheel if it is already there). Otherwise I can write such a class and share it back here if it is useful.

Need Help with Dates

I am printing a calendar and certain events will be helds on certain dates.
One can edit the event if it has not passed the date. Events in the past can be viewed but not edited.
When I query the database the date must be formatted dd-MMM-yy
I am able to get today's date by doing this:

I'm looping through each day of the month to print the days. I have the month, day, year as integers. How can I create a date object out of that and compare it to today's date to test if it's before or after today???
All the function in the Date class that I think would do this have been deprecated.

Here is some information about dates:
There are many edible palm fruits, and one of the most widespread and favored of these is the data (Phoenix dactylifera). Dates were cultivated in ancient land from Mesopotamia to prehistoric Egypt, possibly as early as 6000 B.C. Then--as now--dates were a staple for the natives of those dry regions. Much later, Arabs spread dates around northern Africa, and dates were introduced into California by the Spaniards in 1765, around Mission San Ignacio.
The date prefers dry, hot climates, because date fruits are injured at temperatures of 20 degrees F, and the damp climate of the California coast was not favorable for fruit production. Need Help with data type conversion

I am new to java, i need some help with data type conversion:
I have variable(string) storing IP Address
IPAddr="10.10.103.10"
I have to call a library function which passes IP Address and does something and returns me a value.
The problem I have is that external function call in this library excepts IP Address in form of a byte array.
Here is the syntax for the function I am calling through my program
int createDevice (byte[] ipAddress).
now my problem is I don't know how to convert the string IPAddr variable into a byte[] ipAddress to pass it through method.

Class InetAddress has a method
byte[] getAddress() You can create an instance using the static method getByName() providing the IP address string as argument.

Help with date validation on input boxes.

I need some help with date validation on input boxes.
What I�m trying to create is a form where a user inputs dates and then the rest of the form calculates the other dates for them.
i.e. � A user inputs 2 dates (A & B) and then a 3rd date which is 11 weeks before date B is calculated automatically.
Is this possible and if so how do I do it ???

You cannot hit a moving target, your data quality is at risk, too. Even if a package succeeded there is still a degree of suspect whether the data ended in the right place.
You can create a helper program that checks for data integrity, e.g. a series of SQL queries can be executed against the source to pinpoint what metadata shape the Excel arrived in. Then branch the package flow based on one or the other variant (there will
be only a handful). The branching can be done by using Precedence Constraints. Hey, but see what I say about above.

Problem with solver DLL load and Excel 2010

Since upgrading from Office 2007 to Office 2010 we've started to experience a problem with the solver addin when our own analytics addins is also loaded. I have found a solution, but I think it may highlight a problem with the latest version of the solver
addin for Excel 2010.
Firstly, to describe the problem - the solver addin seems to load normally when Excel 2010 starts up, however when a "Solve" is performed we are seeing a "File not found: Solver32.dll" error at the final "Keep Solver Solution" stage. This only happens our
own analytics addin is loaded. We've been careful to make sure that our own addin does not change the working directory and also that it has been built against the correct Excel 2010 SDK libraries. We do not see this error with any other versions of Excel
running on the same PC or any other environment.
After some searching we found other people were having similar problems and after a bit more probing I found a solution that works - but that I'm not very happy with.
If I copy the Solver32.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Library\SOLVER
(where it was installed)
into :
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
(where Windows 7 keeps its 32 bit system DLLs)
then the problem goes away.
This seems to indicate that somehow Office 2010 has a problem that causes it to search in the wrong folder for the Solver32.dll when another addin is loaded in between the original Solver32.XLAM at start up and the use of the Solver in the sheet (which eventually
requires this DLL to be loaded). Oddly, this only happens after a solution is found and "Keep Solver Solution" is selected - and I'm not sure why it's not looking for Solver32.dll any earlier.
This is not a problem with any earlier versions of Excel and I suspect is a bug in the Office14/LIBRARY/SOLVER implementation. Is there any way to get this followed up?

I'm facing the same issue. With an Excel VSTO add-in we're building. When the add-in is enabled the assembly solver32.dll can't be found. With our add-in disabled the DLL is resolved as (Sysinternals Process Monitor trace):

Basically I have a report which needs to be downloaded to excel sheet. For each record there is a particular image in the first column for ex say my colums are img, desc. Now image column contains an image corresponding to each description. If its a file, a folder image is there; if its a document, a page image is there etc. Now i am can display the data of text fields in the following manner ie label =new Label(0,RowCount, wdContext.nodeVn_PortalExcel().getVn_PortalExcelElementAt(i).getVa_Role(), PortalRoleDataFormat);
PortalReportsheet.addCell(label);
but how do i display the image in the excel sheet?
Is it possible to do so, if so please provide assistance.

Need help taming the DTPicker control in Excel 2010

I've created a workbook application in Excel 2010 (32 bit).
The application loads data from another workbook, which has an arbitrary number of rows of date-time stamped data in an arbitrary number of columns. On one sheet I have DTPicker controls for the start date and the end date of the range of
data it will use to generate charts and summary tables via macros.
Everything works fine on my computer, but when I deploy it to users the code breaks the first time it tries to interact with the DTPicker controls. All the data loads in fine, but when it tries to use the extremes of the data range to set the mindate
and maxdate properties of the DTPicker, it fails. The extremes are date-time values; problem seems to be accessing the control.
Tests on another machine indicate that the control can be selected, and the name in the formula bar matches what I have on my development PC. But the space inside the control looks like a garbled image instead of a date in a dropdown, and when the
user tries to access the properties of the control in design mode, the worksheet properties appear instead.
The garbled image appeared to be an issue on my PC at first as well, if the file was saved and reopened. That was addressed using a suggestion from another developer that opening and closing another file (for some unknown reason) after the workbook was opened
would eliminate the problem (which it did on the development PC).
I am looking for a solution that provides a familiar calendar pop-up and constrains date selection to the range included in the current data set (which also may get overwritten during use, with corresponding reset of the limits).
I would like the solution to be portable such that user don't need to register controls or do anything other than open the workbook and run built-in macros. I believe most of the users will have a version of Excel that matches the development PC's, but I
may also need a version checker and code branches that provide the correct functionality using the method applicable to their version. If there are certain versions that the DTPicker control will not work with, I need to know so that I can include that information
in the instructions or error handler messages.
Can this be accomplished using the DTPicker control? Or is there a "best" workaround using alternate controls that can be explicitly defined via a userform and underlying code, which activate when the user hovers over or clicks on a date control?

another Windows 7 Professional 64 bit PC the informix client drivers and configured the odbc connection for it. During that time, i can access the 32 bit ODBC using the microsoft query from the Microsoft Excel 2007. But now...in the new PC, even though i had

Excel 2007 has only 32-bit since 64-bit applications for Office are available only for Office 2010. Thus, you can use
32 bit ODBC between Microsoft Excel 2007 & Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Now, you are using Microsoft Excel 2010 64 bit & Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, thus, you must install the 64 bit ODBC drive. If you still need to use 32
bit odbc drive, please use 32 bit Excel 2010. Here is the detailed steps:

Need some help with date

Hi everyone!
I have an application in Flex AIR and I'm having problems with dates, I could't found an example on internet until now.
I tried this for insert (database is embeded sqlite)
insertManager.parameters[":mydate"] = mydate.selectedDate.time; // type of this column is INTEGER (in my table) and store a number (milliseconds from 1/1/1970) ex: 1265079600000
Then when I need read records
mydate.selectedDate = new Date(mydateprice); //it supposed show me DD/MM/YYYY but in every case display 1/1/1970
If I replace mydateprice for mydate.selectedDate = new Date(1265079600000); // it brings me the right date
So I don't know what happed, and I'm not sure if it's the best idea to store a date in Flex AIR
I'll appreciate any help, information or example to find a solution.

Help with data load model

Hi,
I need help with a data load model. First, i'm doing delta extraction from R/3, we load data with a InfoSource to InfoCube A and InfoCube B.
I'm doing master data validation on the load, so if a load fails for InfoCube A, it fails for InfoCube B too (this is because i can have only 1 InfoPackage for the 2 infocubes, because of the delta update).
So i propose a new model in wich:
- The delta load is taked first to an ODS.
- ODS is cleaned before the delta update.
- Then i create 2 InfoPackages for full load from ODS to Infocube A, and from ODS to InfoCube B.
With this solution i can have 2 infopackages from ODS because i'm not doing a delta load from here to the cubes, and with 2 infopackages i can have independent validations for each cube so if one of them fails, the other can still be loaded sucessfully.
The solution fails because if i load delta from R/3 to the ODS i can't clean it first. The initialization and the old updates needs to be previuslly loaded on the ODS. Then i can't do full load to the cubes and neither have 2 infopackages.
Please help me to solve this issue.

what about this simple solution:
load data by delta from R/3 in your ODS. You can also have an ODS/cube for the historical data which is more space-saving than holding all the old data in PSA. Then you load your historical data from PSA into the historical ODS/cube.
From your ODS with the actual data you update your requests by full from ODS into the cubes with 2 different full infopackages. But because you load by full you have to use deletion selections in the infopackages to avoid duplicate data!

Hi Everyone,
I need help with oracle dates. I would like to format the following dates and keep it as a DATE datatype NOT char.
1/10/2007 8:57:45 PM TO 1/10/2007 (only the data part of SYSDATE)
1/10/2007 8:57:45 PM TO 1/1/2007 (first of the month)
If I use the To_Char function, it will return a character string. The problem is that I need to retain the DATE datatype so I can join this query to tables with date fields.
