  • Help with driver for wireless

    I have an HP LaserJet P1005 printer, connected to a PC running Vista.  I have a new laptop running Windows 7 that I can't get to print wirelessly.  The printer is listed in my laptop devices, and the Homegroup is set up.  I was told I needed a 32-bit driver to make it work, as my laptop is 64 bit and the PC with the connected printer is 32 bit.  I think I found the driver online, but when I try to download it to the laptop, it hangs forever and won't finish.  Why is this so hard?????

    Hello Jsherman,
    Your printer is a Host based printer, which means it needs the computers cpu its connected to to process a printjob. This will make it difficult to get it working from a differant computer via Printersharing. (difficult means as good as impossible in this case.

  • I think I need help with driver (software) settings for D110a

    I think I need help with driver (software) settings for D110a all-in-one
    Product: D110a all-in-one
    OS: Windows XP Professional
    Error messages: None
    Changes before problem appeared: None--new installation
    The quality of photo images (mostly JPG files) in printouts is awful even though the files display beautifully on the PC screen. I am using
    IrfanView software for displaying/printing. As far as I can tell, IrfanView is not the problem.
    When I print the same images on a Deskjet 5150 attached to a different PC also running XP Pro and IrfanView, the quality of the printouts is at
    least acceptable, Some would probably say good or very good.
    It's dificult to explain in words the problem with the printouts. A picture of really pretty vegetables (squashes, tomatoes, watermelon, etc) comes
    out much too red. Moreover, the red, which appears shaded on the screen, seems to be all one shade in the D110a printouts.
    Something similar happens to a view of a huge tree in full leaf. On screen, there are subtle variations in the "greenness" of the leaves. In the
    printout, all green is the same shade. In the same printout, the trunk of the tree is all a single shade of grey. It isn;t even obvious that the
    trunk is a round, solid object.
    I liken the effect to audio that disappears entirely when you lower the volume and gets clipped into square waves in even moderately loud passages.
    I don't know whether the D110a driver software permits adjusting the parameters that appear to be set incorrectly, and if adjustments are possible,
    how I would identify which parameters to adjust, how I would access them, or how I would adjust them. I'm hoping that someone can help. Thanks.
    I forgot to mention that I have used the diagnostic application and it tells me that there are no problems.

    Hi everyone,
    I noticed the following message when network starts on my gateway
    Warning: This functionality is deprecated.
    Please refer to /etc/rc.conf on how to define a single wired
    connection, or use a utility such as netcfg.
    Then I realized the way network settings should be written in rc.conf has changed. But I can't figure out how this should be done.
    Currently, my set up is the following (old way):
    INTERFACES=(eth0 eth1)
    eth0="dhcp"
    eth1="eth1 192.168.0.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    eth0 is on DHCP because the IP is dynamically assigned my ISP.
    eth1 has a fix IP because it's on the LAN side.
    No problem to use DHCP on eth0 with the new settings.
    But for eth1, I don't know what I am supposed to write for gateway.
    Wiki isn't clear on that one either, and it looks like many articles still refer to the old way.
    Any guidance appreciated, thanks.
    brazzmonkey,
    you can't define 2 interfaces the old way (even though I saw some tricky workaround somewhere in the forums).
    Use, f.e., netcfg:
    Comment your old lines.
    In /etc/rc.conf insert:
    NETWORKS=(Eth0-dhcp Eth1-static)
    DAEMONS=(..... !network @net-profiles ....)
    In /etc/network.d create 2 files:
    First one is named  Eth0-dhcp.
    Contents:
    CONNECTION="ethernet"
    DESCRIPTION="Whatever text"
    INTERFACE=eth0
    HOSTNAME="your hostname"
    IP="dhcp"
    DHCP_TIMEOUT=15
    Second one is named Eth1-static.
    Contents:
    CONNECTION='ethernet'
    DESCRIPTION='whatver'
    INTERFACE='eth1'
    HOSTNAME='hname'
    IP='static'
    ADDR='192.168.0.10'
    GATEWAY='192.168.0.1' # your gateway IP
    DNS=('192.168.0.1') # your DNS server
    The names Eth0-dhcp and Eth1-static are not magic. They just must be the same in rc.conf and in /etc/network.d.
    Hope it helps.
    mektub
    PS: netcfg must be installed.

  • Need help with drive installation for K9N2 SLI Platinum

    Hi
    I am new to the forum and to MSI
    This is my 6th computer build and first time using SATA and PCIe
    My hardware includes:
    •   MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum Motherboard
    •   Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5
    •   GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3
    •   AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad Core Processor, Black Edition 2.5GHz
                    4MB Cache 2000MHz [4000 MT/s] FSB
    •   Thermaltake  Ruby Orb Aluminum Core CPU Cooler
    •   UltraX3 850 Watt ATX Modular Power Supply
    •   [1] Western Digital 200MB7200 ATA133
    •   [1] Maxtor 80MB ATA133 Drive  [Not connected yet]
    •   [1] Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA II HARD DRIVE
    •   [2] Seagate 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB SATA Hard Drives With 32 MB Cache
                    [Not  connected]
    •   LG DVD-RW
    •   Toshiba DVD-ROM
    •   AMI Bios
    •   Antec Full Tower case
    The board set up fine, but I can’t figure out how to install my drives. The MSI directions are the worse I’ve ever seen, or should I say non-existent. They don’t even describe the bios entries… I am familiar with the bios, but don’t know all the settings for the board. I set the time and date and had to rearrange my drive placement on the board to have my 2 DVD drives show up on the secondary IDE Channel instead of the primary IDE.  The Western Digital 200MB7200 ATA133 is on the primary master IDE. I’m old fashioned so I still use FDISK to erase the old OS and partition the drive… I couldn’t see my SATA drive in FDISK even though I could see it in the bios. Now I want my Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA II HARD DRIVE to be the system drive and the Western Digital 200MB7200 ATA133 to be a slave drive. My previous boards had raid but I just used them as additional slave drives.
    My goals: I want to have redundancy for my personal audio/video and my work. I will use the 2 Seagate 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB SATA drives for that.
    I also want 2 additional drives not purchased yet for my other data storage needs and for games
    My questions are:
    Can I use the SATA drive as the system drive if a drive is connected to the primary IDE?
    How do I set up Raid on this board? I actually want to use its capabilities this time.
    Does this board present any special problems with dual booting XP sp2 and Vista 64bit.
    If I put another set of Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 in anticipation of installing Vista 64bit will this cause a problem other than windows XP not seeing the additional memory.
    Is there additional documentation for this board somewhere?
    Please help…I have been working on this thing for 4 days straight. My last build took 2 hours not including software installation. Hope I stated everything you need to know. Thanks in advance

    Hello!
    Advice no. 1 will be not to have everything connected at once. Have the chosen SATA and one of the DVD:s connected and install Windows. (Windows can only boot from bootable devices. It "jumps" all un-bootable.) Once you have a successful boot and happy with it, remove other things from the boot-sequence.
    Eh, some of your questions suggest you don't have the full manual, but a multi-lingual one. Check this out, bottom of the list:

  • Driver for pixma ip8500

    I can't find my disk with the printer driver for my PIXMA iP8500 I changed the computer I'm using it on and can't get it to print on new computer.  I'm using Windows 7 Professional 32bit.
    I tried the Canon site but they only have an add-on driver not the base driver for the iP8500.  I have searched the internet also and can't find anything that works - help please.

    Hi jtw527,
    The Windows 7 driver for your PIXMA iP8500 is provided by Microsoft and can be installed using Windows Update.  To add your PIXMA iP8500 using Windows 7, please make sure that you have an active Internet connection and then follow these steps:
     1.  Click on Start in the lower left hand corner and then Control Panel.
     2.  Click on Control Panel.
     3.  Click on Devices and Printers.
     4.  Click Add A Printer at the top.
     5.  Choose 'Add a local printer' in the What type of printer to you want to install window.
     6.  Select the port you wish to use.
     7.  Click on the Windows Update button.
    The printer will be automatically installed.
    Once installed, please revisit the Support Page of your PIXMA iP8500 on Canon's web site to download and install the Add On Module.
    If you continue to have difficulties, please contact our support group using the following link:

  • Problems with driver for ATI xpress 200

    Hi all,
    this morning I saw that there is KDE4 available. Straight away I installed the packages, run it and it crashed. There was a funny graphical effect just before the crash. This gave me the impression that the problems comes from the graphical driver. I tried the proprietary ATI driver which hangs once kdm is launched. Then I tried VESA which doesn't even start for some funny reason. Eventually I turned to the open source ATI drivers. With them I'm running KDE in resolution 1280x768 which is somewhat strange. So far, I haven't found a solution and think I need a help.

  • Help with Drivers for HP dv8315nr for Windows Vista 64bit

    Hi everyone! In 2007 i bought a laptop a HP Pavilion dv8315nr with the hope that the stickers in his keyboard saying "Vista Compatible" was true and the promise of that the AMD Turion processor can handle a 64bit OS. Today i realize that was not entirely true, because i got the Windows Vista ultimate for 64bits and the processor can handle this OS but i see that in the HP site don't provide any support for the drivers, so i get the problem that i don't have audio in my laptop and the modem adapter doesn't  work either.
    My question is can anybody help me with the audio driver for the HPdv8315nr for windows vista 64bit, that's my priority.
    I appreciate the attention for this manner. Thank you
    Jorge

    I have the same problem with my Photosmart 7350's--I have two. I cannot get either to work with the New Mac Pro driver--Gutenprint .... I got the new drivers from Apple for HP but they fixed nothing. I even downloaded the newer drivers from HP, but their Printer Assistant does not seem to be working. I downloaded it twice. I can get a test page to print a few lines but the rest of the page is blank. When I try to print with either Pages or Word I get either nothing or trash.
    My computer is the New Mac Pro 2.8 8-core with OS X 10.5.4.
    These printers work with my Windows machine and I have read where they work with the Mac OS X. Can someone help. The link for printing trouble shooting did not help. My guess is the driver but I cannot get one do show up even after the HP download.
    thank dr_lynch

  • HOW DO YOU GUYS DEAL WITH APPLE.. SO CONFUSING...NEED HELP WITH SPECS FOR PURCHASE OF IMAC 21.5

    Hi guys, been reading your forums, blogposts, etc and am getting more confused.  I'm just a video girl trying to produce meaningful content through web videos for small to mid sized businesses and want to come over from the dark side.
    Good news,, I dont need a super giant system,  I do simple editing for web videos, minimal graphics, no motion graphics, no animation etc. currently using CS4, will probably end up with 5.5.
    I want to get imac 21.5 or 27 if i have to..  So here's the question we all have,,, what do I really need besides an Apple fairy godmother to figure this crazy stuff out?????
    I want to be able to have firewire add on, but the rest is what I need help with.   So i've been looking at cs6 specs, even though im not there yet, eventually will be,, so just need to run cs4 now and build from there.  I also want to eventually move to final cut down the road so I want imac able to upgrade to final cut.
    WHAT DO I REALLY NEED MINIMALLY FOR NOW?  WHAT CAN I GET LATER IF i CHOOSE TO DO MORE AND NEED MORE POWER?
    cs6:
    Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7, or v10.8**
    4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
    4GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
    Additional disk space required for preview files and other working files (10GB recommended)
    1280x900 display
    7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured, recommended)
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
    DVD-ROM drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs (SuperDrive for burning DVDs; Blu-ray burner for creating Blu-ray Disc media)
    QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features
    Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated performance
    Any responses would be great.  I know you guys are busy answering the really high end tech questions

    All the current iMac models (both 21.5" and 27" with OS X Mt. Lion 10.8) will run CS4, 5.5 and 6 just fine.  They will also run Final Cut Pro X just fine.  Ditto for most any application you may want to use.
    Below are some notes (specific to your apparent requirements) that may help you with your purchase decision:
    Notes on purchasing a 21.5" iMac
    All 21.5" iMacs come with 8GB RAM but you cannot add more later.  I strongly suggest getting the maximum RAM (16GB) when you order the iMac.
    The basic hard drive is a 1TB 5400rpm drive.  It will work fine with Adobe CS but you will probably want the added speed of the optional 1TB Fusion drive for better performance. Some people will recommend/argue for one of the optional SSD drives instead, but they are very expensive and still only come in relatively small capacities - I don't recommend the SSD drives.  Get the Fusion drive and spend any extra money on a good external hard drive for backup and/or extra storage instead of an SSD.
    Notes on purchasing a 27" iMac
    All 27" iMacs come with 8GB RAM and you can add more later, up to 32GB
    The basic hard drive is a 1TB 7200rpm drive - it will be fine with Adobe CS.  There are upgrade options to a 3TB 7200rpm drive or a 1TB or 3TB fusion drive - these will be fine also.  There are also SSD drive options, but I do not recommend them. (Same comments as above.)
    Notes on all the current iMacs
    iMacs no longer come with built-in CD/DVD drives.  If you need one, you will need to purchase the Apple Superdrive accessory drive ($79)
    All of the iMac graphic processors (GPU's) are compatible with Adobe CS 4, 5.5, 6
    It is very difficult to impossible to change or upgrade the hard drive later on, so don't buy low-end thinking you can add a better internal hard drive later.
    Be aware that Macs always come with the latest (most recent) version of OS X.  And OS X Mavericks (10.9) is due to be released soon (in the next month or two).  There is no guarantee that the older Adobe CS 4 or 5.5 versions will run on OS X Mavericks.  If you cannot upgrade to CS 6 in the near future, you may want to purchase now rather than after OS X Mavericks is released.
    For what it's worth, I'd recommend the 27" iMac if your budget can afford it.  You will appreciate the larger screen size and added capabilities over the years you will use the computer.

  • Help: XP driver for 3000 G410 wireless adapter

    Hi All,
    My recently bought g410 came with Vistra (only) drivers CD, while I'm installing winXP instead. I downloaded drivers from Lenovo website and everything worked except the winXP driver for "wireless network adapter" (all 3 of them: Gemtek, 3xxx, & 4xxx), the adapter was simply not recognized.
    When I look at g410 spec, it says something like "Wireless Network Type: InviLink 802.11BG", does it mean that it is another type of wireless network driver those available on Lenovo's site? If so, where can I get this driver? Can someone help, please?
    Thanks,
    fitro
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear Silens,
    Have tried to install the vista driver for Gemtek, and YES, the wireless thing is working now! Thanks for the feedback.
    I notice that in the device manager, the device reads something like"Broadcom 802.11g" while from the specification, the wireless adapter should be 802.11bg (the letter "b" is missing from the description). I don't notice any performance issue though, however, would like to know if you have the same description as well?
    Dear Rex,
    I don't know how to start the system update software, do i need to download from any website?
    Thanks,
    fitro

    Inbound.getTime() is a static method of your Inbound class, that always returns the same value, I presume? As opposed to each of the 25 members of your array in, which have individual values?

  • Need Help with Javascript for Acrobat Pro 9

    Hello,
    I am creating a PDF form in Adobe Acrobat Profession 9.  Not having a lot of experience with Javascript, I have found this forum very helpful and have used many of the script examples for other issues I have had.  I was hoping someone could help with the following script, I have tried many variations, cannot get it to work.
    var ratio = this.getField("ratio").value
    var concentration = this.getField("concentration").value
    var result = this.getField("result").value
    if(ratio.value>=50.00)
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if(ratio.value".value>=40.00)
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==61) && (ratio.value >= 49.25))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==61) && (ratio.value >= 39.25))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==62) && (ratio.value >= 48.50))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==62) && (ratio.value >= 38.50))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    else
    {result.value = 'FAIL';}
    This is just a piece of the code  The concentration values run from 61 through 99 and the ratio value varies for each concentration value, there is a high ratio and a low ratio.  The result of this field with populate the results field with a PASS or FAIL.  This is not working......any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks George.  I updated the script to:
    // Get a reference to the result field
    var ratio = this.getField("ratio");
    // Get a reference to the result field
    var concentration = this.getField("concentration");
    // Get a reference to the result field
    var result = this.getField("result");
    if(ratio.value>=50.00)
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if(ratio.value >=40.00)
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==61) && (ratio.value >= 49.25))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==61) && (ratio.value >= 39.25))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==62) && (ratio.value >= 48.50))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    if((concentration.value ==62) && (ratio.value >= 38.50))
    {result.value ='PASS';}
    else
    {result.value = 'FAIL';}
    However, I am still getting a FAIL result even when the ratio is 50.00 or equal to the passable ratio.
