Help with DW8 extensions

Hi,
I have upgraded from MX2004 to DW8 and downladed latest
extension manager. When I tried to install a new DW8 extension.
Extension Manager shows a blank screen whereas DW8 shows all the
extensions that were previously installed. How do I make this to
show all the installed extensions. I tired to re-install extension
manager..

Help with Newsletter Extension

This is my first time installing a Dreamweaver extension, and
I found this one on the Adobe Dreamweaver Exchange page. I'm
running Dreamweaver MX on a Mac with OS X 10.4.10.
The extension seems to have installed properly, but when I
use it to insert the Newsletter, the first dialog box asks for me
to create a password and set email quantity limits (which I doesn't
seem to be the problem), but upon clicking "ok" I get an error that
says "Unable to create data structure".
The tech support person for the exchange company (and their
FAQ) says I just need to change the "links relative to document"
radio button (from "links relative to site") on the advanced
settings for the website, but I have no such option. There is no
radio button, and no option in the preferences for it either. I
have tried this on four different websites that I maintain with DW,
and that option never appears so I doubt it has to do with an
individual page.
Is there any way to change this option, or is it something to
do with my version of DW? Any ideas would be great, since the tech
person seems to be out of ideas as well.

As for your problem, you have used microsoft word or similar to develop the code, and the javascript should be in a separate file. Can I suggest that you read the following, which will explain extension development in dreamweaver -

Need help with MacFuse extension

I installed MacFuse so I could use one or more of it's many file system extensions to access some data in legacy file formats. To do that I downloaded a compiled executable file called AncientFS that will let me do this. Only problem is that there is absolutely no documentation for non-programmers and non-Unix geeks for how to install this thing, much less make it automount on login, or even where to store it. The only marginally-helpful documentation I can find for it is here: http://osxbook.com/blog/page/3/, about 1/4 down the page.
But that isn't specific to ancientfs, and it tells me absolutely nothing.
Anybody got experience with Unix and assorted geekiness who can explain how to do this?

Hi Kurt, no expert here, but do you have Mac Fuse & any Filesystems showing in System Preferences>Other row, like a AncientFS pref pane?

Did you run the Compatibility check?

Help with DW8 error messages please....

Suddenly my Dreamweaver 8 has ground virtually to a halt - I think might be since a recent DMX ActiveSlideshow update.
When load DW8 I get error message:-
While executing onload in ActSlideshow10-onStartUp.htm the following J'script error occurred:In file "ActSlideshow10-onStartUp"" Reference error:on startUp is not defined.
When I open any html file I get error message:
While executing onload in-onOpen.htm, the following Javascript error occurred;
In file ""-onOpen""
Reference error: on Open is not defined.
Other error messages constantly coming up:
1/The following translators were not loaded due to errors: ASP.htm: has configuration information that is invalid. Server Model SS1.htm has configuration information that is invalid. XSLT.htm has configuration information that is invalid.
2/While executing on-load in TeamAdminTempDelete.html the following Javascript error occurred in file “”TeamAdminTempDelete”” Reference Error: delTempFile is not defined.
Grateful for any help you can give me. I tried to reload DW but it made no difference.

Thanks Murray, I worked through the suggested troubleshooting remedies and it wasn't solving the problem, but I was learning quite a lot about the functionality of DW8 as I did it
Then I uninstalled the program and re-installed it and thankfully the JavaScript themed alerts have stopped.. I haven't reinstalled the DMX extensions yet, but previously de-selecting them hadn't made any difference.
Very grateful for your help. I'm up and running again.......

Help with creating extension

I am very new to extension creating but i gave it a go and cs5 said it install
ed the extension but when i went to use it it threw an error on line 22..
i don't know what i did wrong.. the ext html is below along with the mxi text .. hope someone can help. thanks in advance. hopefully your help will assist me with creating others that work and share.

Help with dreamweaver extension buid

I have written a very useful extension for dreamweaver that
works perfectly. But now I want it to insert the code ABOVE the
html rather then being forced to insert it somewhere between the
body tags. what needs to happen to make that change?
I tried using things like
var dom = dw.getDocumentDOM();
dom.source.startOfDocument();
but couldn't implement correctly apparently.
I'm currently using the function objectTag(form) {
do I need the insertobject ?

Pls need help with Java Extension

hi guys
i have created a class let say it "RectangleArea" and i created a jar file " myjar.jar" containing class "RectangleArea" so i put the jar in the ext folder to use the java extension .then i create class "AreaApp" inside "AreaApp" i instantiate "RectangleArea" .and when compiling "AreaApp" it compile good.but the problem is when runing it through an exception:-
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: RectangleArea at AreaApp.main(AreaApp.java:9)
so i wonder how to slove this problem?

It may be due to the following reasons
1)myjar.jar may not be included in the classpath
2)RectangleArea.class may be inside wrong package
Just correct it and try again.

Help with Help in CS5? - Flash specifically

I recently upgraded to CS5 from CS3. Previously, in CS3, I always found Help to be very helpful and easy to use. Now, in CS5, I've found Help to be extremely difficult to use and cant find answers to my questions. Maybe im doing it wrong?? Maybe my Help is broken? Why isnt Help helpful anymore? Anyone else experiencing this??

I wanted to use hiddenField but it's not working for me, may be i am not doing it right. If any one has an idea how to do this please let me know, and thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, The files are on a DVD disk. I coverted my family VHS tapes to digital dvds using an HP Media Centre PC five or more years ago cant remember the program but if I get info on the disk ,on the Mac it tells me the extension is IDI_DVD.

Need Help with Navigation for an Online Art Gallery

I am trying to create a web site for an online art gallery.
I am new to DW8 and I have been reading several books,
forums, etc trying to figure out how to build a simple and elegant
navigation system.
I have successfully built simple navigation using a frame set
as the index.html page. I have successfully built and incorporated
the art gallery using Photo Assist (Photo Assist is a DW8 extension
that creates photo albums using AJAX). The gallery.html page built
with Photo Assist has thumbnail browsing and a slideshow mechanism.
Photo Assist also uses CSS that I have been able to modify for my
personal tastes in terms of creating a simple and elegant user
interface for the gallery section of the web site.
My index.html frame set consists of navFrame.html and
mainDisplayFrame.html pages. I created a navigation button (using
Fireworks 8) that links the gallery.html as its source and targets
mainDisplayframe.html.
My plan was to just add about 5 or 6 more navigation buttons
and target the mainDisplayFrame.html from each navigation button to
display some static information.I think the site looks fairly good
except that the frame set requires scroll bars when browsed with
800 x 600 screen resolutions. I thought that I could just use
'layers' instead of a frame set, but there is not a "target"
mechanism when usings layers.
At the end of the day, I would prefer to just use one web
page for displaying the navigation and all of my other web pages
including the gallery.html page. I think I have the right idea but
I can't seem to get a good handle on a navigation system that is
better than a frame set.

Please note that I am not a web designer that has deep
knowledge of HTML, CSS, javascript, server side stuff, etc. I do
know a little bit about C++ and Java programming and a little bit

that, I am pretty much a point and click type of web page builder.
My real expertise is more or less on photographing and digitizing
the art.
I should mention that I eventually want to build in PayPal
eCommerce if at all possible, but I realize I might not have the
skills to do so.
Any help, suggestions and comments are very much

Problem with Adobe Extension Manager

Hi, I run Photoshop CS4, Bridge CS4 and Dreamweaver CS5 on a Windows 7 pc.
I've been trying to download the BridgeExportToJpegCS4 plugin but keep getting the error message "This extension can not be installed, it requires Bridge version 3 or greater. The version of Bridge is 3.0.0464.
I have two version of Extension Manager - CS4 and CS5. I've tried loading the plugin to both EM's, but it will not load. I've tried saving the file to another folder which it seems to do, but then the file cannot be located. When I go to the windows but and type in BridgeExportToJpegCS4, it shows as being in whichever plugin file I've tried but when I check the folder, it is not there!!
Any help with this would really appreciated.
