Help with editing buttons in flash
I have dreamweaver 8 and flash 8 and i need to add content to
the nav bar that was made in flash 8....when i do edit and export
back to dreamweaver it doesn't acknowledge the change even when i
refresh....or close the program and manually take out the
files....what am i doing wrong???

I'm totally confused - i think it is your terminology - when
you say things like "window" - it is
very hard to tell what you mean. "Window" can refer to so
many different things. Then you say things
that popup at first glance can't be seen - even more
confusing. When you say "when I open the window
more..." what "window" are we talking about? Are you
previewing in a browser? Or is this inside the
DW IDE? Or the Flash IDE?
It's probably a very simple solution but I can't figure out
what you are physically looking at, what
it looks like now, and what it should look like based on your
workflow.

Help with editing a template flash file..
FIRST OFF..please don't shoot the noobee..I know some folks
don't like the templates and I appreciate that.
I have done some reading but not a whole lot about Flash. I
certainly don't want to BUILD a flash (not yet), but want to edit
one that is included in a template. I only want to edit the header
that drops down. It says The Web STudio. I, for example, want it to
say Marks Studio.
Ok..the temp comes with Flash/non flash.
I open w/flash and have a 3 folders: flash, psd and html.
-flash folder has Images, fla doc and one flash html file
-PSD folder has 3 psd files
-html folder has flash folder, images folder, css file and
one single index.html file.
I opened the flash folder and found the image.jpg I wanted to
change to Marks studio.
I opend the PSD and found the slice that is the same as that,
then edited it like I want it in PSD, then saved to replace the old
image. top1. jpg
Still, it is the same ole one that came with the temp.
as I said, please don't shoot the noobe. I just wanna edit
the flash file.

Rookie to Flash and AS3. Just needed some help with my buttons. Im making a flash program about pancakes (random I know). I have a "Mainmenu" scene and then a "Recipe" scene. I have a button on my mainmenu which takes me to the recipe page when I click it, the code behind the button is

If the intention is to click the buttons to make them work, then you should use CLICK instead of MOUSE_DOWN. MOUSE_DOWN can be a persistent state whereas CLICK involves releasing it afterwards.
As for the code to get you back home, where is it located on the timeline? Are you getting any error messages when you try to use it?
One thing you should learn to use is the trace() function. It is useful for troubleshooting. You can use it now to see if your second button is talking to the function at all...

If you don't get that message in the output panel, you'll know the button is not properly coded to work.
Most folks here will recommend you get away from using scenes in a design that includes navigation--they have a history of being problematic. Instead of using scenes, divide the one main timeline up into sections or use movieclips for the sections and manage their visibility... or do a bit of both. -

I need help with a button. I created a button and set it up
so that when you click and hold it, the button becomes lighter in
color (I used Alpha). I want the button to stay this light color
after i release the click. Right now it goes back to the normal
color when I release the click. Can somone help we this?

you can't use the button itself if you want to maintain the
DOWN state after
release as button automatically resets itself once the mouse
lives the HIT zone.
Use movie clip instead and on press simply send it to a frame
where there
is DOWN state like image.

Help with Editing Raw in Lightroom 3.6
Hello everyone!
I am new to the forum and also to using lightroom. I just need some help with editing my RAW files. I shoot in RAW + JPEG and I just imported the files to lightroom. It didn't show me the jpeg files for importing so I only imported the RAW files, which I needed. After editing, I realised it said CR2+JPEG. Which means that both files were imported but combied into a single one. Now I basically want to edit my RAW files only. Does that mean I have edited a jpeg or a mixture of both files? How to edit only the RAW file?
If my picture says CR2+JPEG, does that mean it isnt a pure RAW file and the editing would affect the image quality?
I will really appreciate some help!It imported both, but only shows you the raw file. Ever. What you see and what you edit will only be the raw file. The associated JPG file will follow the raw file around if you move it or rename it using Lightroom, but other than that, Lightroom will ignore it. You could safely delete the JPG, and Lightroom wouldn't complain--probably wouldn't even notice.
There's a preference you can set that will cause JPGs to be imported as separate images. Then you'd be able to see both of them and edit them separately. That preference won't take effect on images that are already in the catalogue, but will affect all future imports.

Hello everyone, I'm really new to flash and I have some problems with editing my flash file. Currently, I have a small flash application in a folder, containing various kinds of files such as AS, SWF, FLA, HTML. What I want to do is to change the text inside one of the buttons in the application. After doing some reasearching, I realized that I should probably make some changes to the FLA file(Quiz.fla for example) since Quiz.fla is the only FLA file in the folder. Therefore, I opened it using Adobe Flash CS5.5, what what I found out is that the Quiz.fla file is really different from other FLA files. It only shows a plain background when I open it, without showing the actual interface of the flash application. It does contain all the buttons and contants under the Library section on the right side of Adobe Flash . When I try to change the text inside the button then save-publish, the newly published SWF file would just be a static picture of the button I've changed and everything else is gone. Any help is greatly appreciated!
ya, that's why I'm confused. I've actually tried editing some sample flash FLA files and all I need to do is to edit them in the Library and it would work out. But this one seems to have some weird problems. I could actually send the application folder to you if you have some time to take a look at it. Thank you very much again for the help!

Php sql image editor - help with submit buttons!

I have recently setup a website for my real-estate company, with a makeshift CMS behind it for my staff to use when updating properties.
I have a slideshow on my site for each property, which is populated through sql blobs (I know alot of people dont think this is the best method but I have managed to get it working so I am happy with it!).
Assuming the database has 4 fields - id, image1, image2, and image3 - I have managed to build separate pages to edit image1, image2 or image3 based on the id as per:

The above code will display image1, and let me edit it using a simple submit button.
What I am trying to do though, it to get all the images for the property where id ='$id' on one page with respective edit buttons. I can display them all on the same page easily, but cannot seem to crack the UPDATE form for each image.

to say there is a link hear! And I want an image of the "merino" to
come up, like a "ALT" box. Or have an image in the "ALT" box?
I know how to do this in "Flash" i.e just drop in the image
on the over state of the button event. Easy as pie! This is why I
cant get to grips with Dreamweaver! I hate it!

HTML is a lot different from Flash! :-)
I believe you could do this using DW's Show-Hide layer
behavior - have
mousing over the link trigger a layer with the image to
appear. Someone else
may have a better idea.
Just FYI, having to mouse over a link in order to get more
information about
it isn't usually appreciated by users. You *might* want to
re-think this
plan..

Help With Radio Buttons -- URGENT!!

Basically i havnt a clue where to start.

I have a question and the answers are A, B, C, D.

button so that the value of the radio button is stored into an
array called SCORE.
i dont need a tutor for arrays, i can do them, i just need
help with the radio buttons so a reference to an array would be
enough, eg how to store the answer from the radio button in an

you give them the same group name. Then you could use something

Help with editing a cell in a JTable. DESPERATE
Hi! Is there someone out there that could help with some source code for editing a cell in my JTable when I run it as an applet??
It works fine when I run it as an application.
I manage to select the row and write a number in it, but I can't get out of the cell (it seems that the program stops??). I want to enter an integer in a cell and when I click enter or with the mouse in an other cell the value that I enter should update some other cell( multiply the entered value with some fixed number and update a cell in a second coloumn)
I am really desperate now..... I have thought about using a MouseListener....
I am using a tablemodel that is from AbstractTableModel.Are you using some cell editors?
While converting inside them, you might be getting some exceptions (like parseexception)which is stopping you from proceeding further.
Are you using your own tablemodel with custom datatypes?

We are in the process of creating a template for our site. We
are working on the editable regions. What we are finding is if we
want to add a bulleted list of items (let's say links) we can't do
it without the list header also becoming bulleted. For instance
let's say we have the following:
Medical Resource Links
Cardiology
GI
Respiratory
We would want Medical Resource Links to be bold and stay to
the left. The other three items we would want to have bullets.
When we try this in an editable region all four items move
over and only the first gets the bullet. Do we need an additional
editable region for the title? Is this controlled via a CSS? Any
help you can give would be greatly appreciated. We are beginners
with this. Thanks.This has nothing to do with editable regions. It's all about
the HTML on
the page.
Show us the HTML for your list, and I'll tell you why it's
happening the way
you describe.

Hi,
I hope someone can help with a simple-looking problem which
nonetheless has me stumped!
I have a feeling that I've missed something obvious.
I've created a movie clip to act as a button (I've called it
"abs_button") and placed it on the stage.
My main movie has one frame.
Within the "abs_button" movie clip there are 5 layers.
Labels, actions, default button state, rollover state and rollout
state.
Technically, default button state, rollover state and rollout
state could be on the same layer as they don't overlap, but I've
given each animation its own layer for clarity.
FRAME 01.
Default button state is one frame with a graphic of the
button. Just a label at the start ("abs_up") and a "stop();" action
at the end.
FRAME 02 to 31.
Rollover state is a 30 frame animation. Label at start
("abs_over"), "stop()"; action at the end.
FRAME 32 to 62.
Rollout state is a 30 frame animation. Label at start
("abs_out"), "stop()"; action at the end.
All animations were achieved with tweens.
My initial "abs_button" code:

As it stands, the animation jumps to frame 1 of "abs_out" on

I've tried for 2 days to solve this, but I clearly need help.
My experiments with variables simply didn't work.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me where I'm going
wrong!

Since the code is attached directly to the movieclip, you
don't have to
identify the clip. A gotoAndPlay() function takes a frame
number or a
frame label name as its argument, never the name of the clip
that
contains the frame number or name.

find a way to either write a button in flash or creating one in
captivate 3 using the on click execute javascript function
javascript:self.close() and I have tried the actionscript on

Is it possible you are overthinking it?
Try configuring the end action of your project to Close the
project. Then insert a Button or Click Box object that simply jumps
to the last slide. What happens is that your user clicks the
button, the last slide appears and the project closes (if it can).

Need help with encore buttons - highlights
Hi All
I am seeking help with Encode CS5. I have a project working fine except that I dont have highlights for buttons, at least I think thats what its called. So when the mouse or remote control navigates up/down toa button it changes colour.
In the properties of my button, the highlight option is greyed out.
How do I apply highlights ?

I have highlighted the first button - which is called 'Highlights' - same issue with all the other buttons.
Do you have to use photoshop to add highlighting? or can you do this in encore - i dont have much experience with photoshop.
Not sure how to check 'Color Set' ? can you tell me how to get that for you - same for transparency for states? - I havent experienced them or changed them as I dont know how to
