Help with "Find my iPhone" app if phone is on silent/ringer off *and* offline???:///
Help! I've lost my iPhone-pretty sure around the house but I am visiting family and about to fly back across country. It is a 4S, I'm fairly certain wifi is turned off as well as cellular data...but I am not 100% positive, but using the app Find my iPhone has been useless since the "sound" can not be heard and the app can not locate it "offline"...anyway Siri can be made to turn the volume up from something? The apple tech guys or anything? Turn the cellular data back on?? Gahhhh helppppp!! Thanks!
Selecting "Play a Sound" works regardless of the position of the mute switch. The phone being offline is different. With no network to connect to (either WiFi or Cellular), find my phone will not work. So, if your phone battery is depleted, you will not be able to use find my phone.

You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely. -

I've lost my iPhone5 like 40 hours ago. I already turned the Lost mode on with Find my iphone app. But my phone has no data plan so it could not connect to the internet at all. I reported to the police, too. What else can I do? Can anybody advise?

If you activated the Find My iPhone service (in Settings>icloud), and if the device's batteries still have a charge, the device is not turned off and has not been reset and is connected to wifi, then you can try to track it. Using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and look at the Find My iPhone page. On a device, invoke the Find My iPhone app (get it for free at the itunes app store) and log into the icloud account. Note: The Find My iPhone **app** does not turn on the service, you can only do that through Settings>icloud.
If the device is listed as "offline", then one of the requirements listed above is not met (like being connected to wifi, or if the device was stolen and the thief reset it). -
My find my iphone app, my phone was offline. So i checked the notify me when its online. I did this on my boyfriends iphone so now that we found my phone he keeps getting text messages sent to him notifying him none stop where my phone is at?? How do i let stop the text messages to stop?? It sends the location and long. lat. where its at....??
My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

and i also tried reporting it but it wasnt on "my product". so i need to type the serial number and i dont know what it is. -

If you want to track it, then put it in Lost Mode. If you erase it then you can't track it.

Unless you deleted it from your Apple ID account the phone will remain locked to your Apple ID, so unless someone who has your phone knows your Apple ID and password the phone is useless to them.
