You don't need the Find My iPhone app.  You need to turn on Find my iPod in Settings > iCloud on your iPod.  Then to locate your iPod from your PC, go to https://icloud.com and follow instructions.

    Hi -
I downloaded Apple's free "Find My iPhone" app and would appreciate help getting it to work. I don't have a paid Mobile Me account, but I understand I can set up a free account to use the app. I signed up for the free MobileMe account in the iPhone 4's settings, and signed into it using my Apple ID. It seemed to work except that, when I went to sign into the app, I got an alert saying that my MobileMe account had not yet been verified, and I should check my Mobile Me email. The problem is, I can't seem to get the the mail screen. When I go to the Mobile Me sign-in page and enter my Apple ID, all I get is an alert saying that no device has been registered. Can anyone provide any help with this? Thanks very much for your help.

Follow the steps here and you should have no problems setting it up.

  • Help with "Find my iPhone" app if phone is on silent/ringer off *and* offline???:///

Help! I've lost my iPhone-pretty sure around the house but I am visiting family and about to fly back across country. It is a 4S, I'm fairly certain wifi is turned off as well as cellular data...but I am not 100% positive, but using the app Find my iPhone has been useless since the "sound" can not be heard and the app can not locate it "offline"...anyway Siri can be made to turn the volume up from something? The apple tech guys or anything? Turn the cellular data back on?? Gahhhh helppppp!! Thanks!

Selecting "Play a Sound" works regardless of the position of the mute switch.  The phone being offline is different.  With no network to connect to (either WiFi or Cellular), find my phone will not work.  So, if your phone battery is depleted, you will not be able to use find my phone.
    Sorry.

  • Help with find my iphone

Can any of the features turn off by themselves? Such as the find my iphone feature...say after an update
could you find that feature in the off position and the owner of the phone claims he did not turn it off.
I find it very hard to believe that it switches from on to off all by itself.. even with the added sign out measures.
As anyone experienced buttons turning features on and off by themselves?

I have never heard of Find my iPhone turning off by itself. The more common problem is people who want to turn it off and cannot. in iOS 7 you need the iCloud password to turn it off. This was not true for iOS 6.

In my: Settings-iCloud-Find My iPhone, The icon "Find My iPhone" and green button slide are all muted and will not allow me change it, yet on my iPad next to last generation with iOS 7.1 all of the above are bright in color.  Help

Check Settings>Privacy>Location Services to make sure it's turned on, then scroll down and tap Find My iPhone and turn it on.

  • Need help with 'Find my iPhone'

Yesterday, I lost my ipod touch (gen 4) on an amtrack train.
I believe that I had the location feature turned on, as well as 'find my iphone'.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to use / access 'find my iphone'.  I realize the ipod may have lost its charge by now, although I tried yesterday, when it had a charge.  Time is of the essence!
I also downloaded the 'find my iphone app' and for the first time, it shows up in icloud, when I log on.  (This is for my Macbook Pro, but the ipod does not show up.)
I'm pretty sure that the addresses, email and 'find my iphone' were all turned on in my ipod.  I'm not sure if 'icloud' specifically was setup on my ipod.  Is there a way I can set that up remotely, online at apple support?
    Any other suggestions?
    Thank you,
    MCristina

This is how you set up Find My iPod:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2697
If you did set it up, go to http://icloud.com, log in using the Apple ID you set up Find My iPod with, and go to the Find My iPhone section. With luck, your iPod will appear and give you a general idea as to its location, though note that the location will actually be of the WiFi router the iPod is connected to, not the exact location of the iPod itself.
If you did not set up Find My IPhone before the iPod was lost, there is no way to turn it on after the fact. And if the iPod has run out of charge or otherwise is turned off, or not connected to a WiFi access point, there won't be any way to track it.
    Good luck.

  • Help with finding my iphone, whilst blocked

    Hello.
My son has lost his iphone, whilst out and about with his friends. The battery was flat, so I already know that the device isn't discoverable.
But he is positive someone has picked it up.
Due to the circumstances we have had the phone blocked.
What my question is is if the person who picks it up plugs it in to charge will it still be discoverable whilst it is blocked by our provider?
I really need to get it found as its only 3 months old and I don't think it is insured, I will find out tomorrow if it is covered.
Many thanks, and hope somebody can help

    Your phone is gone.
All a smart thief has to do is take out the SIM and restore the phone. It will no longer be discoverable.
Report the loss to your carrier, and change the passwords to any account that was on the phone.  That's all you can do.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)

  • HT204053 I have another Apple ID from when I originally set up this iPod, now I can't reset it as I am also set up with Find My iPhone which may have been doen by mistake I have been in contact with Apple itself and they can't fix the problem so far

i have originally forgotten my pass code for a new iPod Touch, now I have with Apple's help reset it to factory, my issue is due to the change in my Apple ID , the iPod will not  let me set it up under the new Id or the old one.I also have been set up with find my iPhone and I don't remember if I did this or not, could have been the grand children trying to help out. Any ideas or suggestions, I haven't even used this yet and I have owned it for 6months already. Really am disappointed that the process is so difficult to navigate.

I have also noticed the same "problem".  I do not fully understand the impact of using the same ID on multiple computers and devices if I want to keep them all in sync.

  • HT201365 Hi   i am looking for some help with a new iphone 5s  whis has locked the screed  due to  the wrong pin number being inserted,  It keeps asking me to go to iphone account, But when i do that  the iphone account says it cant  do anithying  untill

0xE8000084  hi above  error code  is preventing me connecting my iphone 5s to itunes ??  any help or advice to re set Sim Locked  password number of tries  has expired and the phone  is lpcked

I assume when you say "pin" you mean passcode.  If it's disabled from entering the wrong passcode too many times you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode.  If you have iOS 7 with Find My iPhone enabled, you'll either have to force it into recovery mode to restore it (as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808) or go to icloud.com and use Find My iPhone to erase it.  After doing so, restore your most recent backup.

    Hi Oliveira_Lisboa,
The article below has some information about the options and features available, it also has some tips that might help you locate your iPhone.
What to do if your iOS device is lost or stolen
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5668
If you lose your iOS device or think it might be stolen, these steps may help you locate it and protect your personal data.
If you enabled Find My iPhone on your missing device
These steps require that Find My iPhone was enabled on your device before it was lost or stolen.
Attempt to locate your device using Find My iPhone at icloud.com/find, or using the free Find My iPhone app.
Put the device in Lost Mode to set a 4-digit passcode and display a custom message with your phone number on your device. While the device is in Lost Mode, you can also keep track of changes to your device's location. Lost Mode requires that your missing device be using iOS 6 or later. If your device is using iOS 5, you can still lock your device remotely and display a message on the screen.
If you want to delete all of your personal information from your missing device, you can erase it remotely. Please note that when you erase a device, you will no longer be able to locate it.
Report your lost or stolen device to local law enforcement and your wireless carrier. Apple doesn't track or flag lost or stolen products, but you can use My Support Profile (supportprofile.apple.com) to find a list of serial numbers for products that you've purchased or registered with your Apple ID.
Note: If your missing device is offline, you can still put it in Lost Mode, lock it, or erase it. Your commands will take effect when the device comes back online. If you did not enable Find My iPhone on your missing device
If you did not enable Find My iPhone before it was lost or stolen, you can't use it to locate or protect your device, but you can still follow these steps:
Change your iCloud password to ensure that no one else can use your device to delete or make changes to your iCloud data.
Report your lost or stolen device to local law enforcement and your wireless carrier. Apple doesn't track or flag lost or stolen products, but you can use My Support Profile (supportprofile.apple.com) to find a list of serial numbers for products that you've purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

Visit iforgot.apple.com/appleid if you need help remembering your Apple ID.

  • Lost iPhone with Find my iPhone installed

I lost my iPhone but had the Find my iPhone app installed on it.  However, when I go to iCloud to find it, my phone isn't listed on the devices.  Is there any way to find it now?  Thanks for your help!

The find my iPhone app has nothing to do with finding the iPhone on which it is installed.
The app simply allows you to find your other iOS devices from your iPhone.
You would have had to turn on the the built in find my iPhone feature in settings on your iPhone, in order to be able to locate it.  No app needed.
